  • You should definitely take rest days. Rest is SUPER important for recovery and gains. This day, however, I did arms. So enjoy.

      Thanks for the share, but I think I'll just attach the band to a pole instead of using the cable . As for rest days, I use resistance bands, stability ball, and bar or rings.

I went from 148 lbs (cycling to work and severe calorie deficit..) to 208 over the pandemic, I’m at 200 now and going to the gym nearly everyday, way stronger than I was when I was 148.     This vid came up while I was on the couch and motivated me to hit a quick 30 minute dumbbell arm workout. This vid essentially proves that you don’t need to go 150% effort for two hours to get a good workout in. Thank ya patty

    I also have the same outlook on rest day. Usually do more targeted accessory workout and mobility. Def lacking the mobility 😅.

    Hi from Russia. Branch Warren said that the only thing he regrets in his career is that he did not rest (recover) enough. Lotsa inexperienced youngsters will repeat after you and will not have time to recover, while beginners need even more time for recovery. I think that it's quite possible to arrange eat and chill days. :)

    Hardest part of the workout is definitely the mental battle! I'll catch myself periodically not going hard enough on my sets. Usually I get mad at myself for being a wimp and it lights a fire under me!
    Glad you got some peace and quiet on your "rest day" for eavesdropping on peeps!😆

    I love when my joints crack during movements, like doing split squats or skull crushers. It although becomes a discouragment when I am looking forward to that satisfying pop and don't hear it =/

      Chin ups for arms is achieved on back day when back exercises are performed. If you're recuperating your lats and back, chin ups arent really the thing to do.

    Patty, you are truly an inspiration to me. I have felt so heard. You have the physique I’m aspiring towards. I’ve always done gym and workouts on and off for over a decade, but for the past month, I’ve been training and moving so much more and I’m already seeing a difference. I might check out the Gorilla 🦍 protein powder at some point. I have my own at the moment, but I’ll keep it in mind! Please could you upload more warmup and potentially cooldown videos, perhaps 10 minutes long? I struggle mostly with those more than anything ❤❤

    On my journey to lose 130 pounds. Started at 295 and right now im down to 255 and im loving strength training. Im a HUGE person on the inside but im tired of being a huge person on the outside. I want to feel weightless and powerful, not in pain and clumsy anymore :'(

    renaissance periodization has an analogy about working out, having to do with workouts being like hurricanes 🌀 and they cause recovery construction, but the recovery construction doesn't happen until after the hurricane passes and of you never have actual recovery the reconstruction never happens, or doesn't happen well

    I like your videos.. I forgot some of the shoulders exercises you did today.     Smaller shoulders while keeping heaps of musculature, is refreshing to see. Shoulders are such an androgen site. (except for Dana Lynn Bailey's clearly natural deltoids!!) Also the fact that Patty seems to be somewhat forever in a maintenance workout to some extent. (goal dependent I guess) The aim of strength training doesn't have to be double your mass every 18 months. You can get jacked and stay there. Nothing worse than watching jacked dudes who's bench increases 20kg a month giving out free lifting and diet advice to those of us stuck in the boring ol natty world.
