You’re a wise woman, Sister Patricia. When you spoke about not necessarily lifting to change how your body looks, but to be healthier and happier. That is wisdom. I didn’t think such things until much older.
thankyou, brother ben 🙏
Sister Patricia, lmao!
The amount of simping is phenomenal.
@@unc1221 idk if you're joking, but it's a community, bro. People are nice to each other when they have communal goals and views. Why u mad?
true, bro!
Your hypothesis about failure is pretty spot on. "The key to accelerating neuroplasticity is learning to associate positive feelings with failure."
I agree completely. The moment I failed on leg press the first time was the moment my gains really started to accelerate. Not only did it feel great to push myself to my absolute limit, but it removed all fear of failing I'd had previously that I might break my legs or back or something.
I agree with you 100% Patty! I only started enjoying going to the gym when I realized that it helped A LOT with my mental health, so I changed my goal to being healthier and feeling stronger! Now I feel like the aesthetic part is just a bonus and it's really fun to workout :) also the physical changes were much easier to notice since I didn't put that much pressure on myself to change and didn't keep track of it every single day
love it!
I fucking love Patty's videos. The VAST majority of fitness content is just inciting body image discomfort (whether it is intended or not). LBP always hits you with realness and a good time. Beautiful. Muah.
This was the video we all needed today. Thank you deeply for being so ripped and supportive. It's a good combo.
All of your messages about mental health and different ways of looking at yourself/working out are more beneficial than you realize. I try to do the same because most don’t talk about those topics. This is why you’re my favorite fitness YTber! Thank you Patty for being you!
thank you very much🙏
every patty video is so much fun. i love your editing, your personality and it really feels like you're really doing it for fun :) (also the comment abt. body dysmoprhia is so real. yes, hating your body and your life and the way it is will help you get results in anything you do, but it will also fill every accomplishment you have in those areas also with hate and it'll be a nasty cycle to get out of)
Great commentary this video. A year or so ago when I started to focus on working out I only cared about the gains. I took a long break and now I love it because I was reminded of how amazing it is for my mood and mental wellbeing. That's what keeps me going back.
🙌🙌👏
Your strength on the bench is crazy Patty ! 😲 Also, you definitely gained some muscle mass 💪🏻🎉
Exactly my concern. You know how hard it is for a NATTY guy to put on muscle like that much less a girl. Everyone in fitness world knows none of these supplements they take actually do much of anything. There great to promote being sponsored .Perhaps creatine but that is it. So PED are starting to be suspect.
@@MichaelJwolf1984 I don't think she is taking PEDs, she has been training for 8+ years now. Having the diet dialed in and running a good program does take you quite far (you can find quite a bit good programs on the internet for free).
With regards to supplements, it is Whey protein, Creatine and a little bit of carbs before and under training, that will be the most effective. Pre-workout is mostly a placebo effect, but it does contain a lot of water, and since 1% of bodyweight loss in water is 10% of performance it is important....
thank you chatdoe!!
@@1985rbaekpre work out is for the caffeine and similar supplements to boost energy not necessarily for muscle growth
@@shawnbradford2243yes that helps grow muscle if you can lift more cuz your amped up silly that’s why it’s made
great advice at 8:20 about making goals less physically oriented. my goals at the gym are not to please anyone, or look good for anyone else. i like to eat. so i like the fact that i can keep eating the stuff i like, and then go burn it off at the gym. and i get better results than a few friends of mine that have that mindset of just wanting to look better
🙌🙌🙌 that's awesome! i think sometimes stopping the hyperfixation can help us reach goals seemingly faster and be happier with them
Same, what's funny is when you focus on those things you actually seem to progress at a higher rate.
12:45 „kaputt“ … as a german my heart leaped with joy 🎉

This was an awesome video! Great and honest training, funny and reflecting commentary, classic sound effects. The complete package! More of this!
You are seriously one of the biggest external motivations I (and tens of thousands of others) have to improve ourselves. Frickin ❤ ya
thank you very much!!!
Thanks as always for the vid Patty! And thank you especially for taking the time in this vid to focus on mental health, you present fitness in a way that doesn't judge harshly and is truly openhearted, it means so much to see.
thank you very much alex!!
love this kind of working out mixed with lifting advice style of content. great work patty!
Thanks for your content Patty! I didn’t realise how much I needed to hear the info about making my fitness goals less physically oriented for the sake of body dismorphia and mental health. You’re 100% right in saying mental health is wealth 🙏
💪🌱
I love this video because everyone should be training to a level of failure. It's so good for you mentally, because by design, failure training is taking a muscle group where it doesn't usually go every day. The feeling of accomplishment is perpetual. When you take a muscle group to failure, there is this feeling of accomplishment every time. Then being able to do more reps with a weight to achieve failure than last time just stacks on that accomplishment. Or realizing you are so far above your target rep range to achieve failure that you get to move up weight next time. I've always felt getting a number of reps stuck in your head as a stopping point, rather than a general guide of where you want failure to be, is what makes people get bored and stop training. Because the same rush of excitement when you finish a set isn't there.
The body dysmorphia part is so true. I spent the last 3 years having the mindset and goals of "i want to look this way", and it destroyed my mental. I put on 30 pounds of muscle (went from 235 to 265) and got close to what i had pictured as "perfect aesthetic" in my mind, but it really hit the mental hard. It made me feel like i was constantly never good enough and it got to the point of i felt like if i wasnt the biggest person in the gym then i would constantly be judged by everyone. It also made me so hard on myself that it was destructive and i would feel bad for wanting to take days off from the gym. While i reached a look that i thought i really wanted, i now realize that when i was 30 pounds lighter i still looked extremely good. I also realized that this cycle would lead to me never feeling good enough and never feeling satisfied. Now i am shifting my training style to get back down to 240 and much better cardiovascular health. Size is cool for a time, but now being 31 i want to make sure my body and mental is healthy.
I'll always remember Your advices about the body view. It's heartwarming to me at least. And it makes me feel better (and You also make me laught a lot with the effect sounds xd). Thanks Patty
Girl, you’re strong, I admire your drive and dedication, you inspire me as well as your viewers, I’m always proud.
I saw a stongwoman competitor who could literally *LOG PRESS* like fucking 250 pounds, and she still somehow looked attractive despite being so monstrously strong. then again again she was like 6'2' literally like a foot taller than patty
thank you very much 🙏
Love training videos when you explain everything like this one. I think you put in a lot of work/time on this one and it shows. Thank you Patty.
thank you guylaine!
Yooo the gains are definitely there! Love the videos btw
Seeing Patty being so strong and ripped really inspired me so I have decided to start my own weight lifting journey . Wish me luck !
you got it!!
Loved the vid Patty, I've been having a no bueno day, but this really helped my mood. I've also been trying to increase my bench press so fingers crossed for both of us 🙏
I’d recommend buying 1 lb plates and increasing weight that way.

couldn't agree more bout what you said about body dysmorphia, mental health is so often overlooked. always workout for yourself first!!
also, ~2months after straining my chest, I finally made it back to my previous strength :D have a great week patty!
yaaaay for recovery!!
You are so honest about certain things, like advice, that I believe you are honest with yourself. Even if it hurts, or isnt what you want to hear. I find that cool. And as an over-thinker I hope you get that you have my admiration.
thank you very much
Ahhh Patty uploads at the best time! Was lacking the motivation for chest day today and was going to go anyways for the discipline, BUT, now I’m siked for it 😂 you keep it honest and fun to go to the gym, especially alone oftentimes!
Loving the shorter workouts, looking great!
always putting out the bangers
I just came across your channel & i think you're absolutely amazing! I love that you don't leave out how hard it is, funny noises & all lol
So fresh and genuine gym content take amongst the hyperbole ped tubers. Love it
Love you patty,you inspired me❤❤
Love your content Patty, always excited when you post a new video! Your determination to go for that last attempt is awesome :)
The bit from 8:10 onwards resonated. I'm older now, in my 30's, so you weren't wrong about the age thing, at least for me. I've fought myself for years trying to change my body in one way or another, and although I was moderately successful, I definitely had an unhealthy relationship with critical self assessment. It was only once I just gave up looking good, because "I'm too old now anyway" and shifted my focus onto health, mobility and trying to feel better, that cutting out drinking, eating clean, doing cardio, getting enough sleep etc, became necessary and easy, because I wanted to, to feel better. Ironically, I'm stronger now than I've ever been, and the weights on the bar keeps creeping up each week. Turns out being healthier and happier has facilitated my original goals better without me even trying. Shame it took 15 years to learn this lesson.
its funny how as soon as we stop focusing so hard on something like that, it gets better... glad you got there tho regardless of how long it took! 💪💪💪
Nada como ver a la gran patty y alegrar mi domingo ❤
💪💖 obrigada
Sister Patti, a great chest workout to improve bench is a pre-exhaust workout. I do 3-4 sets of10reps incline flies followed immediately with 10 reps incline bench (no break in between flies and bench). I follow this with 3-4 sets of 10 reps flat bench flies/flat bench press. I follow this with 3 sets alternate dumbbell bench holding the static weight in the up position. I do this for a month, then go back to doing benches first. Always see gains in the Bench Press. I also want to tell you how much I look forward to your videos. I really enjoy your virtual company whether in the gym or on the farm. Thanks for the smiles, laughter and joy you bring.
Interesting method. All I did to gain strength back 20 years ago was following the 5x5 system. At my strongest I was doing 5 sets of 5 reps flat barbell bench with 225 and a 1rm max of 305. At the time I was in training for powerlifting, but never really competed. I just really liked being strong.
thank you very much, brother grizz! will definitely have to give it a try!! sounds like it would be a good mix up from my usual routine.
and thank you for joining me on my little activities 💪💪
Congrats on the push-up PR. And you will get the bench strength back. 💪🏾

Patty ❤ that tee shirt! What impresses me are your forearms! They are so strong and structured so well! I will be 60 this year and strength training is helping fill out my weak, wobbly forearms that come w a certain age! You always inspire! If I bench 80lbs, I’m stoked! Keep strong 💪 and thanks for always bringing it! I heard a great quote by a female power lifter in her 80s… she said I’m not really concerned anymore about what my body looks like but what it can do! lol! Words to live by for me now….
concerned with what it can do 💪 wise words that most only get with age

gracias patricia, this videos help me to see i dont need to have a perfect rutine every day to have progress and the failing of part of the grow also the important thing is doing it, at the moment i do mostly bodyweigth training and a few things with so low weigth, there are moments when I feel like i need to invest in some heavy dumbells but then i remember i have a lot to grow with what i have before I move on the next level, anyway thanks for this videos and the inspiration

Love your videos patty, they always motivate me. I also died laughing watching your MRE tasting video! Thanks for the great content
Got the notification AS I was working out and deciding whether or not I wanted to bench today. Decision made!
Thank you for being you Patty!! Sending love from Japan xoxo
My preference over bench is doing weighted push ups (using a dip belt) on the rings. Greater range of motion, you can go as heavy as you need to, don't need a spot and you're recruiting more muscle fibres overall.
Glad to know you're human after all, this is the lowest in the dumps I've heard you be, don't be so hard on yourself. Head up, keep going, you're awesome.
Congrats on the PRs in the past year patty. Pump looked good in this video. Much love

Nothing but love and respect for ya Patty✌🏽❤️
Annnd my week has now ended perfectly, thanks Patty😊 And you are crazy strong!
Happy Sunday Patty 💪❤️ There’s some things that bother about going to the gym that didn’t bother me in the past.
I like working and moving around. Personally, I’m not terribly concerned about my sex appeal. I’m not bashing anybody else, but your physical health is gonna coincide with you overall (sexual) health and looks anyways. I think of it more as a process and not coming to the gym and being a overly flamboyant douche.
I usually want to lift heavy, but I’ll know how much I can do after a few work up sets. But I’m not coming to gym to have a contest of the weights with anyone or show anybody how much I can do.
Another thing, you may not encounter this, but at my gym it’s a revolving door of employees. So you could imagine how they act before end up eventually quitting. The guy that was supposed open the gym no showed and I wasn’t able to make it in the morning to workout.
What are some things you dislike about the gym?
happy monday jon!
hmmm ive experienced some people with a total lack of spatial awareness at the gym before. makes me uncomfortable and its unsafe. also had some weird employee experiences where they thought they were just like better than everyone else... i think those are my top weird experiences so far
Só vc para alegrar meus domingos ❤

I love the advice and the combo of some days being L's! helps realize that even the more professional ones feel the same way sometimes
Just enjoy the journey. We need to remember that from newbie gains onwards you progress at a slower pace and it requires increasing amounts of effort and dedication. I wish you were my gym buddy.

Such a wonderful and informative video, Patty, thank you very much!!❤
I was thinking..what about a video guide to improve push ups? I know there are lots of people (me including) who want to improve them (do more reps, for example) or even do weighted ones. Maybe you can teach us how to do a proper form 😊 ly

Reducing body fat percentage will reduce your breast size. Increasing your muscle mass with the same body fat percentage will not decrease your breast size. The increased muscle mass in the chest will better support your breasts.
yeah, womens breast (mammary gland) is mostly surroudad by fat. But you need also muscle to be in tone to hold breast betetr and to not make them to hang
I'm training same muscles today and this vid is gonna motivate me more! Thanks!

Hola Patty, I hope you are well!!! 🫂something that helped me in the bench press was
The Bilbo Progression for Bench Press
It consists of doing 1 explosive set up to 30 reps
bench press and then 2 sets of 8 - 12 reps
Week 1 first set 30kg X 30 reps
Week 2 first set 35kg X 25 reps
Week 3 first set 40kg X 20 reps
Week 4 first set 45kg X 15 reps
Then
Week 5 more reps than week 1
Week 6 more reps than week 2
Week 7 more reps than week 3
Week 8 more reps than week 4
And in week 9 make a new record 1RM!!!! .. and of course doing approach series .. Bilbo (Jesus Varela) is the best bench press in Spain 240kg ... much love from me, nice week, saludos ♥️
definitely writing this down! first time i've heard of this one and it sounds super intense!
