I have the de-catted pipe and ECU flash. It had the "branded" Akrapovic muffler, but I just swapped it out for my stock can. I haven't ridden it yet, but at idle it sounds wicked
Never fails, traffic between TWO and BM. Love these roads on my Ninja 400 and was looking at a RS Cafe and wondering about the handling characteristics of the RS. Thanks for answering my question on that. I see an RS Cafe in my future. Hope to see you up there this year!
Oh man, I'm in Georgia too but I'm over 3 hrs away from your area. Bike sounds amazing with the decat pipe. I'm planning of doing the same to my Z900RS Cafe in the winter.
@@SquireSCA hey, me and my dad both have RSs and are thinking of doing this, with it being just a straight pipe, essentially, is it obnoxiously loud? To the point where plugs are needed? Does it absolutely need a tune and/or ecu flash after? If not, does it run any worse?
The roads are amazing! I have to drive a few hrs. north or west in order to get to similar roads... what kind of recording setup do you have ?! Some sort of gimbal ?
GoPro hero 9 black with their Max Lens Mod for horizon leveling…. Footage is good, but the hero 9 has lots of issues with random lockups and freezes that GoPro never was able to fix with firmware updates. I am gonna upgrade to something better soon, either the hero 10, or maybe another brand…
@@SquireSCA cool thx! Will look into that if it is compatible with hero 7 black as I use that one. Interesting look with the horizon being level. (MotoGP like)
@@BorisZX6R I believe that it only works on the 9, and the one drawback is that it limits the resolution to 2.7K at 60fps. The new 10 should be able to improve on that. The videos I took of the track day this weekend, I took the max lens off and shot in 4K and it looks fantastic
HI, beautiful and useful videos, i write from Italy, I have a question for you, how many catalysts does this bike have? I understood one in breadbox and one inline, so total 2. if I put the link pipe, and leave a catalyst, do I gain horsepower? I saw that you did dynotest, how much do you think he can earn? I've seen some people who gain 10 hp with an akra manifold without putting anything else on this bike. eventually I add rapidbike evo. Thank you
The gains come from the headers and airbox mode coupled with a tune. There are two cats. the one in the header and then the box under the bike. If you are gonna do the decat link, there is no reason not to pull out both cats.
does anyone have a flash tune for this connector pipe? also, does the pipe fit up tight and permanent like or is it really a hack job no matter how well you do it? I'm debating new headers or this thing. You ride like a crazy person, btw.
Yeah, several tuners have a flash tune for this. Brocks, Ivan, Moore Mafia, etc... The fit is great, nice, tight and secure with no leaks. If you do just the decat link pipe, the stock tune is ok. If you do full headers, you will likely need a reflash
The sound is improved, but while watching and listening I couldn't help but think that a set of mild cams would make the tone even more business and give you more usable rpm range and power, now that its breathing so well. Are cams available for this bike?
Not sure, to be honest, and I wouldn't go that far on this bike anyway. It's my "spare bike", the more relaxed one that's just fun to ride. If I was after the most power, I would not have chosen this one to begin with, you know?
@@painsrides3616 Well... LOL I do like flogging it, but it's also my riding around town, or ride to dinner bike... I meant that if massive power was what I was after with this ride, I would not have gotten a Z900. Would have gone with an MT10, Super Duke 1290R, Sreetfighter V4, etc... I went this route because of how it looks, and its "fast enough"... My getting it tuned is less about power gains and more about making sure its running properly... Picking up a bit of power is sort of the bonus...
I didn't feel any loss. The CAT blocks sound more than it blocks flow or performance. Most CATs actually flow very efficiently these days, but they generate a lot of heat and they really dampen sound.
I’m thinking of decatting as well but I read on a lot of forums that this bike runs lean from factory and will definitely need a tune after removing the cats. What do you think?
@@fireblade1k952 There is one cat under the bike, that you cut out and replace with the link pipe, if I remember correctly. But if you keep the stock headers and muffler, you should be fine with the stock tune. CATs flow pretty well these days, the difference in performance is negligible... the difference is mainly head, sound and weight.
@@SquireSCA yes there’s 2 cats: one in the breadbox and another in the header pipe. Ideally I would like to remove both but I just want to make sure I don’t run super lean and detonate my engine if I remove both.
@@coastalhillbilly3419 Yeah, its not intrusive in any way and its nice being able to be a bit ham fisted with the throttle in the turns and it keeps it in line...
@@twowheelswede When you get it, there are no instructions, but it's pretty straight forward. You will need to cut the stock exhaust, about 1cm in front of the weld, where the box meets the collector. Once you cut it, the rest comes off with a few bolts. While there. drill and punch out the CAT in the header, and then install the link pipe and stock muffler. I found it easier to cut, by removing the headers from the bike.

On the 2020 it didn't run too lean, so long as you keep the stock header. Larger headers and you would require a tune.
