I did the same thing on my 2019 Cafe and used the Kawasaki performance Akrapovic pipe it was way to loud and it was a bad loud. So I went and got Dale Walkers Hole Shot pipe sounds great now.
I just love the Z900RS it looks and is a great bike. But there are so many things you can do to this bike to make it suit you. And you have really got stuck into your bike for sure. Enjoying all your stuff and looking forward to your next video
When I get it in the dyno in a couple weeks, I was thinking of doing before and after video both for sound, and to see the performance difference the breadbox vs link pipe makes. Stay tuned.
That’s great. Thanks. I’m about to do the same thing. I’ve made some other mods and are about to do some performance mods. I wonder if a hole saw wouldn’t bore that sucker out? Thanks again. Keep em coming.👍
Got Delkevic headers for mine. Decided on this rather than cut the cat and link pipe as I can easily put stock headers + cat back on to get back to stock. Turned out to be way too loud so now have a Chinese db-killer in the pipe which has made it not so loud.
I thought about those headers, but I figured this was $99 and some elbow grease. If I really want to put it back to stock, all I have to do is take the headers and box to the local muffler shop and pay the guy $50 to weld the two pieces back together along the seam that I cut...

Hopefully mine isn't that loud... If it is, I can always buy an aftermarket slipon to tone it down I guess...
Its gonna be even more 🏁 than it already is. Looking forward to your reveal and test ride.

Great work/detailed explanation- thanks! But I was waiting for a sound clip!

So many Kawasaki owners, also own a Triumph. Good taste!
I wish there was a not any louder than stock 115 H/P option

I don't have the bike any more, but I do have several other videos of other mods, tuning, and even a track day one the Z900RS

Looking forward to hearing this with the cat delete installed
Uploading a video of the decat'd stock sound now.
You did all that and then didn't turn over the engine for us?!!! Special ring of hell for you 😠
Well, I have other videos... not sure why I didn't in this video... But I do have video of me riding it, and it being on the dyno...
Hi Dave, how to remove the CAT inside the pipe? regular drill and just drill through and take it out? was the CAT welded to the pipe?
thanks
I did the akrapovic headers on my z900rs and it sounds damn beautiful. I am curious on how this sounds when your done with it.
I will do before and after runs on the dyno I think...
If you left cat in header pipe and just replaced bread box with mid pipe could you be good without a tune?
Yeah. It won't hurt anything. I did the tune to make sure, but you would be fine, just a little lean here and there, nothing to worry about.
Nice mod, any chance of hearing it before you install the link pipe?

Link for the part? Thx
Were they gaskets/rings for the header pipes?
Got it off eBay. Don't have the exact link, this was a couple years and like 5 bikes ago...
@@SquireSCA Found em...just had to look past the end of my nose. Ebay//Aliexpress. You dumped the Z900?
@@mikejohnson9118 went from the z900rs to an R1, then a Tracer 9Gt, then a ZX14R and a Triumph Speed Twin 1200...
@@SquireSCA Life is good...saw you "Lost" the 2 red trucks as well.
@@mikejohnson9118 Yeah, I traded mine in on the Mustang GT Performance Pack, the wife traded her for the new Silverado RST Z71.
do you have to weld the link pipe on or is it slip on... clamp?
Slip it on and use the supplied clamp. Easy!
@@SquireSCA just ordered thanks
Dave, can you please post the ebay seller if you still have their details. Thanks
There are a few vendors selling the same pipe, but here is the one I bought:|
