Among other things, they also discuss the pillars of Dr. Li’s MediterAsian diet, the importance of brown fat, and how eating a diversity of plant foods is key for unlocking gut-healing phytochemicals as well as which ones can help fight inflammation and prevent disease.

Yes. Type “diet books” into Barnes and Noble you get “21,575 for diet books” So which one is correct? I think Amazon number would be even higher. I went vegan in 1974 based on a tiny book about protein from Gary Null. I made up the rest as I went along. Small amounts of fish, eggs and cheese along the way to “fit in” with families. Have you tastes how wonderful the white and brown sugar are!! Amazing!!...we should just eat cookies made with only Sugar as it is the magic that makes that cookie "good"😂😂😂

The big box stores carry canned Centos brand whole tomatoes skinned with its sauce. Cut each of those tomatoes in half and take the seeds out it’s easy. These are San Marzano tomatoes from Italy that have more lycopene than other tomatoes and if you sautéed these in EVOO you multiply the lycopene amount significantly.

It has been researched that combining green and black teas is even more beneficial than any one of them and also that earl gray tea is richer in benefits than green or black teas alone ❤
My favorite teas are, earl gray, regular Lipton black tea, an itoen oolong tea shot With a one square of Ghirardelli’s baking chocolate unsweetened, I get a super nice alertness and relaxation from it, I also like a lot the itoen green tea shots , the only thing I stop using itoen teas after I learned Japanese plantations had been radioactively contaminated from the Fukushima disaster after 2011

I eat a modified version of what my family ate to live into their nineties: meat and vegetables and grain, largely local, homegrown and organic. Dessert about once a week, generally homemade.

I'm so addicted to high-quality foods with great diversity. I decided this morning that I was going to keep it simple: Wild Alaskan Sockeye salmon and 2 eggs. But wait, may as well add some jalapeños and red bell pepper. Wait, there's more portobello mushrooms in the fridge. Won't take long to throw in some parsley and cilantro. That pack of tempeh is open, and I'm fasting tomorrow...tempeh and spinach would be so tasty. Red onions and that tomato is already sliced. May as well throw a slice of that baby Swiss cheese on my tempeh, spinach medley. My 2 eggs, may as well use a few red onions and tomatoes there. Well, the salmon is great with a Tbsp of organic half and half, turmeric and smoked paprika. Everything needs fresh ground black pepper. It's all cooked in olive oil, well some have avocado oil.Kinda need that nutritional yeast for my fiber a d biotin.I photograph the ingredients on the scale as I cook and then add them to Chronometer to track what I eat.
At dinner I realized I needed some retinol, so I measured out 2 ounces of chicken livers. The NC blueberries are coming in, so I munched on them while drinking oolong tea as I cooked dinner in preparation for doing my kettlebell swings before dinner.
Yesterday I had wild white anchovies and so, so many other foods...watermelon, grapefruit, blueberries, chicken wings, beets, sweet potatoes....

Love the video!!! This information is SO ESSENTIAL it should be taught in schools!!! With so much nonsense that's still being taught at schools after 100 something years of teaching the same old crap, crippling the human species' innate creativity from early on, isn't it common sense by now that we should first and foremost learn about our body and how to properly take care of it??? Healthy body, healthy mind. I'd dare to say (based on the hard evidence found on research studies and the daily visual cues when commuting) that a whopping 95% of all diseases and disorders we develop as adults (physical AND mental), are almost always exclusively a direct consequence of improper food choices. Right education is just one of the many endeavors that we must push for that will undoubtly guide humanity in the right direction.

Love to listen to Dr.Li but I just have a question for him. You always refer to Mediterranean diet, what diet but I have never heard you talking about African diets. As an Africans I would love to also hear about that diet and in what ways a person can change to improve their health. Otherwise I enjoy your lessons and I'm learning a lot.

    • @ponder_reflect9644

As an African, and even though Dr. Li has not referred to a specific African diet, I guess you just need to do your homework using his explanations with regards fat burning and immunotherapy to tailor-make your own Africanasian diet by making prominent use of most foods he mentioned and or their substitutes I guess. For example, make sure your diet is high in fibre like eating beans (or tofu), tomatoes, and pears or their types regularly, get lots of foods with the omega oils (fishes, lobsters even crayfishes ;), take fruits in their whole like Oranges, berries etc etc.. and most importantly eat slowly and be disciplined with your portion controls and you will definitely be on track.
Well, just my thoughts and future plans regarding my AFRICANASIAN or MEDITERRANAFRICAN diets (lol)

I disagree greatly on his stand for "shrimps" they are real bad, loaded with cholesterol, they eat poop just as lobster, really bad for your health. He bought the idea that cattle industry is bad for the planet, give me a break, millions of people live because of this industry, it's a million times better to eat a steak than to eat shrimps, lobster or pork... scientific fact. 99% of his information is to be heard and applied to our lives despite of what I wrote above.

These are sweetened but I only use about a third if a package in my tuna salad. And since I eat very little sugar I'm ok with this. As a nutritionist I like some of this updated info. I think some of the info of mega dosing on things like salmon to get omega 3 isn't necessary for good health which makes you wonder what they were thinking in past research. I'm vegan because I do feel really good on it and at the same time if an occasion called for enjoying small amounts of well cooked meat I have no issue enjoying it. I'm a selfish vegan in that my food choices are truly related to health and what my body can tolerate at this time in life. It's good to think of bigger implications of eating meat but it's something my little vegan diet won't solve alone, it's more broad then that.

    20:12
As an informed Carnivore we have the farming wrong:
Currently Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation (CAFO) is the norm, where as regenerative farming is fringe.
It should be the other way around for many reasons:
Animals-is just not natural for the species, fed the wrong food types, no mobility, increased animal disease requiring vet intervention (they stand in their own faeces) and muscles atrophy, they ingest glyphosate treated grains with flow on to us, also deceased quality of life being confined likely increasing mental issues-just look what happens to confined Orca (Killer Whales),
-planet: soil microbes need grazing paddock rotated animals so each paddock gets faeces (natural fertiliser) and the grasses don’t get overeaten which keeps the grass plants healthy and strong. This also aids in very much reducing/eliminating soil erosion. Our topsoil layer is being depleted greatly as well as soil nutrients.
    Regenerative farming is earth conscious!
Ultimately we benefit from all this.
VOTE with your dollars if you can.
It’s the only way we can effect change.
    I believe CAFO is cruel.
