    Your videos have been so helpful to me over the last couple years dealing with TMJ developing after wearing ill-fitting headphones for audio editing for too many hours on end. At one point it all got so bad that my voice would give out after attempting to record one 2 minute script. I've been to local dentist/doctor/therapy professionals for help but your self-massage videos are a big part of what gets me through the tension and tough times. You have a calming voice I also appreciate. Thank you so much for sharing!

      I'm so glad my videos have been helpful! It seems this particular video is specific to you. I used to sing, so I know how stressful it is to run into jaw and vocal problems. Thank you so much for your kind words. Wishing you the best!

    This video is such a lifesaver!! I couldn't imagine my vocal warm-up routine without these facial massages now. I've been able to hit high notes and maintain stamina during shows more than I ever thought possible. Thank you so so much, your work is incredible!!

    Love this video! I get migraines with and without Aura. I was amazed at how many painful pressure points there were behind my ears. I get Botox shots to relieve some of my migraines but others like the Hemiplegic ones are not affected. I can’t wait to tell my Neurologist about the points behind the ears that are Not being reached. This was a Good find! It was like finding land mines that go off and I wasn’t Aware where the Triggers were. Thank you so much for your commitment to keep people healthy!

    Thank you! I've been a singer for about 25 years. Lately I've been concerned because I notice my mouth just feels different when I perform. I find myself manipulating my mount in ways I've never had to do before to reach a note or go from one pitch to another. It's become somewhat worrisome. Something made me think of facial massage for singers, and I found you. Just having done this video once, I feel a big difference in the range of movement of my jaw,. Of course I tried singing, and it does feel much more open and flexible. Looking forward to seeing how it helps with repeated use. Thanks again.

      Hi! I haven't been in the field for well over a decade, so I'm probably not your best resource. You'll need a few things to get started - a professional headshot, resume, demo, agent, voice coach, to name a few. I suggest you get some books on the topic, and speak to successful singers. Meet up with any performers you know and ask them about their careers.

    Hi Rachael,
    i have a voice sounding, sounding as MTS, that alone adds too many other tensions , Rachael this feels good and of course feeling some relief.
    The worst for me right know is my upper back, shoulders, ribs-chest
    could you share a link or a recommendation , would you be able too, if i shared the cycle of tensions that i have or would that just be a "shot in the dark."?

    Thanks Rachel for posing this! I have too much fat on my neck to get to my mastoid muscle. It's easy for you because you're thin. What do you do for students who can't reach that muscle? I do Tai Chi that stretches that muscle. Another stretch I do is grabbing the top of my head and pulling it sideways which stretches that opposite side. Are those type of exercises just as good as the exercises you use? Thanks for posting this very good means of therapy. My main problem is I don't talk for long periods, even a couple of days sometimes, so when I answer the phone my voice is all laryngitis sounding, but that's not the case, just me not talking for a long time. Sometimes too when I'm singing my voice goes out completely and I get just a rush of air. What causes that?

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  4 роки тому +1

      Thank you for sharing. The mastoid process is not a muscle, but a bony protrusion behind the ear that serves as an attachment site for muscles. It is usually prominent and easy to palpate. To answer your second question, the rush of air may be a sign of vocal cord fatigue. The vocal cords need to be able to vibrate and touch together to produce sound. There are many reasons why this mechanism might fail, including fatigue, vocal paralysis, inflammation, growths, nerve problems, and thyroid dysfunction. I recommend seeing an ENT to find out why your voice goes out.

      @@rachelrichardsmassage9660 Hi Rachel! I meant the muscle that you were massaging from the mastoid down your neck. I just called it the mastoid muscle. But very nice of you to create this video, thanks!

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  4 роки тому

      @@mwj5368 Ah, I see. You're probably talking about SCM. Yes, stretching is a great way to get at the muscle if you can't palpate directly. You can also massage the attachment right under the mastoid process.

    • @rachelrichardsmassage9660
      @rachelrichardsmassage9660  4 роки тому +1

      You shouldn't be losing your voice unless you abuse it with poor technique or screaming and yelling, or if you are ill. I would suggest seeing an ENT.
