      Thank you so much. I have been suffering with underactive thyroid, probably due to stress and trauma. My throat became so tight that I couldn't sing without getting a headache. This morning I had a go at your exercise a few times, and then tried to have a go at singing something we do. I was so happy to find I didn't sound like I was being strangled lol. I will keep coming back to keep massaging my throat. I really appreciate that thank you again. ❤

      Elissa Weinzimmer hey if I have to do this every other day there is something wrong with my voice . ? Also I sleep on my stomach and my neck pressed against the pillow . Which is effecting my neck and voice I think. Any thoughts ? Also When I do this exercise to my neck it gets my voice deeper and then a few days later my voice gets a higher pitch then I have to do this exercise again.

    Thank you so much!! I sing in residencies for people who lost half of their autonomy or who lost it completely. It is 1 or 2 hours of show and it is demanding because I often sing without a mic(with my guitar). I will try those!! thankss!!! :D

    This is truly a creepy feeling moving the larynx around, but also relaxing, so I'll definitely try to get used to it.

      If you think that feels creepy try moving your knee cap.
      Put on leg on on your bed or something and move that thing around. Nasty

    This is helpful, thank you! I was recently diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia. I am not able to see my physical therapist for another few weeks, unfortunately. I’d like to try this massage, but I’m having a hard time locating my hyoid bone. If I have a lot of tension, would it make sense that it’s harder to find? Any tips on how to find it when there is a lot of muscle tension? Nothing seems to want to move around in that area under the chin. Thank you!

    • @VoiceBodyConnection
      @VoiceBodyConnection  Рік тому +1

      Hi Meli, it's hard to find for many folks so don't feel bad. Do your best for now with the steps that are clear to you, and you can gently keep encouraging that tissue under your chin to move. Another good simple practice is to gently massage upward with your thumbs under your chin - those are your tongue root muscles. Hope things keep getting looser for you, and that your PT can help!

    Hi Elissa, thanks so much for all your great videos. I have a question…… for a while I have been suffering with mouth breathing especially when I’m sleeping. I wake up with a parched throat and voice. Seems to be terrible blockage in my sinus areas. If I close my mouth and try and breathe through my nose, there is a real strong whistleling sound. Could you advise at all?? Thanks so much Sean. Ps keep up the great work

    • @VoiceBodyConnection
      @VoiceBodyConnection  2 роки тому

      Hi Sean, so glad the videos are helpful! I'm not a total expert on what you're asking about. I have recently been experimenting with taping my mouth at night so I breathe through my nose. It's helpful! But obviously if you feel a blockage in your nasal passages that won't feel great for you. I'd recommend going to see an ENT about all this. You can also read the book "Breath" by James Nestor, which has great info. Hope that's helpful!

      @@VoiceBodyConnection Thanks so much for your reply Elissa, I’ve been mouth taping for a while and also read the James Nestor book. Just within the last couple of weeks this seems to be paying off!! Your advice would be correct then !! My singing voice has returned, I’m so happy. Keep up the good work, all the best Sean x
