Reminder that Jennifer never apologized to Bruce for insulting him and his experiences as an abuse survivor, a superhero and a Hulk, and quite literally broke reality to avoid accountability for her actions, and rewrote people's memories to that end.
We are at the point where Kingdom Hearts - _another_ Disney property - dealt with the moral quandaries of altering people's memories and personalities more than a billion-dollar multi-movie/show franchise.
She-Hulk is officially the most despicable character in the MCU. At least Wanda's despicable actions were _acknowledged._
Didn't No Way Home also involve dealing with the consequences for trying to alter everyone's memories? It wasn't perfect; the whole movie could've been avoided if the spell had been, "Everyone will forget the Mysterio video and everything in it that each of them didn't already know", but the consequences for the mishandled spell were there.

@@Zerarick The whole point is that She Hulk is a form of escapism for Jen, that she has no confidence in her base form.
I just finished watching Better Call Saul at the time of writing this, a few months after this video was released. After finishing it I was reading up on behind the scenes; the creator and writers didn't know how to write a legal drama so they STUDIED IT. They spent time at courthouses learning how the system works, learning valuable shit like "a lot of time is wasted waiting on other people to file paperwork".
Meanwhile we have it on record that She-Hulk's writers knew nothing about the legal system and did nothing about it, a statement usually followed by "so we studied" or "we hired X to help us" just goes nowhere.
This is the absolute state of writing today. Disney hired literal incompetents who are unqualified for the task because they have the correct politics and identity labels.

I still don’t think anything will ever top “Banning Opinions on the Jeb-pilled Leftist Incel podcast”
"I would have the same criticism if she was a man," is a sentiment they're trying to directly associate with sexism. The assumption they're trying to program into the audience is that every single time you hear it (or its equivalent), you automatically know that it is being said disingenuously and that the man saying it is actually a closet sexist. "That's just a thing _they_ say."
And the question then becomes "Then how does a man criticize a woman by an objective co-ed standard, if he wants to avoid using such triggering terminology?" And of course, the answer would be "He doesn't. He doesn't _get_ to criticize women at all, unless he wants to be evil-othered."
Marvel Knights Spider-Man did this interesting thing where hospitals would make it policy to not unmask super people if they could help it. Like if a superhero gets hurt in a battle and gets brought in, they try to protect his identity. But that was to protect THE HOSPITAL. That was to protect the doctors so supervillains wouldn't bust in and try to coerce secret identities from them.
Rekieta truly does represent the arch enemy of she hulk: he understands the law, is an online personality, and has an understanding of websites ala Moon and kiwifarms.
The only thing She-hulk will be remembered for is how openly bitter and resentful those responsible for it were toward the source material, the audience, their boss, men, women, and basically anyone who isn't them.
So that means it’s the next low bar, now everything by comparison will do better, meaning the past bad stuff is now good, and the future stuff will be bad, then good after the next future stuff
=_=
Peter Parker (a child in High School) was more morally torn about erasing people's minds and dealt with the reality and consequences of it better than a University educated 30+ y/o adult woman lawyer.

Isn't internet historian from New Zealand though?
I'm going to be honest, it bothers me a lot that Daredevil had sex with She-Hulk. Daredevil is a practicing Catholic (unless modern MCU wants to change that), and while that hasn't stopped him from having sex with women he isn't married to in the past, the way it happens in this show is a bit of a stretch. I can totally buy that Daredevil would compromise his Christian morals to have sex with a woman he's in love with, like Electra. I can't believe he'd compromise his morals for a one-night stand with She-Hulk.
Assuming Born Again has him talking with a priest at any point, I'll be wondering why he isn't confessing his night of shame with the jolly green giantess.
I mean, to be fair, if his show's anything to go off of he's quite a player. Foggy constantly makes jokes about how he gets women because he's blind, and after his fight in first episode, Foggy automatically assumes he was sleeping with someone because he woke up late.
The biggest difference is the relationships that are shown on-screen for him all have an importance to the plot and his character. Claire, Elektra, Karen. She-Hulk literally just fucks people because she's horny.
Because its so shameful he doesn't want to disappoint his local priest.
@@funnyman10912 There are some things better left unsaid
He must not be very good at practicing his religion If it doesn't stop him from having sex.. coming up with excuses like "but I loved her" is not a moral justification. Jesus man you fake religious people piss me off, either follow the book or leaver ✌️
that IS something we would see on "30 rock": "welcome to the female lawyer award, not to be confused with the REGULAR lawyer award"
So, this show has the critics and fans as the villains, but then She-Hulk does a Karen and confronts Marvel studios themselves on why the writing is so shit and changes the ending. So the villains aren't the critics, but Marvel studios/Disney themselves for they are the ones creating the products.
Quite fitting, but I dont think the writers realize what they are writing.
They are oblivious to everything they have revealed about themselves. It's glorious.
By "does a Karen" are you referring to the stereotype or the film.
Mainly because of Efap Movies covering the film (and referencing once per Final Destination film so far) I'm just imagining 'Karen 2' where she gets resurrected as Karen-Hulk.
To be fair to the writers, I've met mentally disabled five year old house plants with more self awareness and IQ than the sum total of the She-Hulk writers room, so it can't really be helped.
I think what they were going for, in their own incompetent way, was that Kevin forced a bunch of plotlines on them that they didn't want to do. Mainly the superhero plots that didn't involve dating or groceries. So the writers were actually trying to criticize Kevin, not themselves. So either they failed miserably at making that clear, or else She-Hulk's complaints about her own show make absolutely no sense at all.
@@Jedi_Spartan_38 I'd assume it's the stereotype. She-hulk demands to talk to the manger to avoid all responsibility

You guys remember when people complained about the way Jen talked to Bruce in the first episode and the copehards were like “It’ll be acknowledged! She’ll realize she was wrong later!”
Beautifully aged. Of course, anyone who was thinking critically knew already that if the show was aware Jen was in the wrong, it would’ve been acknowledged at that moment, not at some undefined point later.
The only character arc I've seen Strong Female Leads these days gone through is "I change from thinking I'm perfect to knowing I'm perfect."
Classical heroes may have done things viewed as atrocious through modern sensibilities but man do they undergo serious self-reflection. Strong Female Leads on the other hand commits atrocities and revel in it, thinking it's never their fault. She-Hulk, Captain Marvel, Wanda, Reva...calling them toxic waste with legs would be kind.
When it wasn't, they still defended it. Aren't humans great?
There's literally an issue of Sensational She-Hulk where they think John Byrne has died, so they read scripts for replacement writers where they do vignettes where she's injected into alternate realities where it's written by other famous comic book writers... and it still does less damage to the universe than episode 9.
It was also funnier.
His cameos were also universally self-deprecating while not throwing his co-workers under the bus.

You gotta love it. The public knows that Jen is She-Hulk, she gets rewarded with tons of positive attention, sex, and awards, whereas Bruce was hunted by the military for most of his adult life, and the show expects you to believe that Jen just simply has it harder.
It's clear why Jen immediately turns the tap on for Daredevil. He's cool and collected when he talks. He doesn't say grug-level things like the rest of the people around her. He is vastly superior to Jen at the job she devoted her life to. She also has a tendency to be extremely forward with anyone that gives her even the slightest of attention.

The no-budget Japanese cartoon _Eagle Talon_ did the 4th-Wall ending way better in one of their movies. Whole cartoon has intentionally ass png "animation" "quality", but for the movie they bring on end-of-the-world stakes and mecha fights that drive up the budget meter on the top of the screen (deadass, the whole movie had a BUDGET meter on screen) and every time the meter filled up the characters would have to pause the action and appear in a cheesy advertisement for some local business or tourist spot to help pay for the movie to continue.
And this actually becomes plot relevant when in the end the villain is about to win and the antiheroes don't know what to do, but then they remember how cheap their studio is and start launching graphics-heavy super-attacks and summons that the budget can't afford, and the animation quality plummets so hard into potato realm that the villain is paralyzed.
Eagle Talon is fantastic haha. Thanks for the recommendation
I am so fucking sick to death of writers going "look, we know our writing is shit, and we're pointing it out, so therefore you can't criticize us".
With that said, this did make me realize I would love to see more Marvel characters give the writers a piece of their minds over what has been done with them recently (most notably my best girl Wanda, but a lot of characters deserve vengeance over their assassinations).
It actually has a darker and insidious fact behind it, especially when it’s about sexual assault on male characters. Because many of these shows like 30 rock, Mindy project, It’s always sunny etc. will “pretend” to acknowledge the actions but will later treat it as a joke and give the abuser no consequences in doing it. That’s why in real life, people still have misconception that “Men cannot be raped”.

Sometimes reality isn't very well written. Another example of this is that Tom Fischbach, writer and artist of the quite popluar furry comic TwoKinds, is Markiplier's brother (iirc)
Kang, the TVA, and MoM were things that K.E.V.I.N. approved on, so by abstraction She-Hulk is worse.
I really enjoyed this EFAP.
Nutsa doesn't say a lot but I always enjoy hearing her talk. I also liked that she was the only one to chuckle at Rags' gack joke and yes, I remember gack.
Rekieta on EFAP has been a pleasure.
I haven't watched any of She Hulk. Did Jen ever come to terms with being She Hulk? Because if she still didn't want to be She Hulk why couldn't she have written her new show to where she never turned into She Hulk in the first place?
Also, I love how the writers say that they could predict the reactions of the trolls. So they wrote a bad show so that the trolls would call it bad. Yep, they wrote a bad show so the trolls would call it bad and thus be correct. That's way better than writing a good show that the trolls call bad and are thus wrong.
The knew what the troll reactions would be because they looked on twitter for what people predicted would happen in to the show and how they would destroy She-Hulk's character, and then did it. I'm starting to think we could actually use reverse psychology to get writers to accidentally make a decent show if we just tweet out how awful it would be to have characters go through an actual hero's journey, that would be super duper woke and totally awful and we'd all definitely hate it.
@@FablesTold You know I can't decide if they'd be dumb enough to fal for it or too dumb to actually write that kind of show.
"...and he turns into the cringiest Hulk you've ever seen in your life."

4:28:00 The thing about the "woman written by man vs woman written by woman" thing Nutsa is pointing out here is that these memes are a retaliation against the assertion that men can't write women properly or that femlae characters written by men are worse than those written by women, by pointing out what kind of female character we get if you give shows to the kind of female "writer" who would say these things.
We don't witness a gender reverse "bro look how awful men write male characters" memes because there is no assertion that women can't write men to have a backlash to. The only thing anybody would ever claim is that male characters are badly written caricatures when written by feminists women, not women in general, but the feminist assertion is that female characters suck when written by men.
Receptionist: How do you write women so well?
Melvin Udall: I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.
It never ceases to amaze me how much more accurate this description has become in modern storytelling.

So when SH tells Marvel that her story is shit and the writers are shit, then does that mean that the "villains" that these shit writers were parodying were right? It's such a mess. It's some bipolar shit like "I hate you for what you're saying but I agree".
“You’re right, I wasn’t pretending to be retarded… I _am_ retarded, but stop pointing it out.”
So you're telling me that the Sokovia Accords were better handled in "Slingshot", which is a web series that was put together in between filming of two separate parts of AOS season 4, than they were on "She Hulk", a show that is supposed to combine superheroes and law? Ok.
AOS became such a cool little universe unto itself.

VLC asking Is this necessary is just...perfection. it just encapsulates the rancid experience that is She Hulk in this beautifully meta way.
I had ONE big fear in the MCU and always KNEW *THIS* was going to happen one day! And OF COURSE it would come to pass in She-Hulk! And even though I’m confident the Writers have NEVER read ANY of the Fantastic 4 Comics (Otherwise it DEFINITELY would’ve been done on PURPOSE), I’m still MAD that they were SO INCOMPETENT, they ACCIDENTALLY Stumbled & Tripped into replacing “The-One-Above-All” (Jack Kirby) & “The Collaborator” (Stan Lee) with “K.E.V.I.N.”! *KEVIN!!!* They DON’T EVEN KNOW what they’ve DONE! 🤬
I love how the resolution to this entire plot line and season of TV is the strong, empowered woman protagonist... going and complaining to the manager.
As far as being blindsided in court, we did actually see that in the Rittenhouse trial. You can bet that the prosecutors in the case were not expecting the 1 and 1/2 armed man to testify the way he did on cross.
The important part is that they were blindsided by the idiocy of a witness, not basic facts about the case.
This series literally ended with “I want to speak to the manager!!!”
You know...I think women, after an entire generation and a half of being lied to about where self esteem comes from (hint: it's absolutely NOT emotional validation and positive self-talk), they actually think narcissistic personality disorder is just...confidence. And they think if a man is confident, he must have gotten it through that same kind of narcissism. These women aren't necessarily evil, they are just totally gaslit.
this actually does seem like it's the case. It feels like a lot of women conflate being "strong and independent" with being an abusive tyrant who brutalizes anybody who gives them any lip or disrespect of any kind. When I found out how this show ended it was fucking hilarious but also really fucking sad, the writers are entirely fixated on the criticism but not in any meaningful or productive way but in this entirely fight or flight type of way where they think they need to "get us" before we get them(IE just saying their shitty writing is shitty) It's like they think this is some sort of really dumb game that you win by demeaning the other person when everybody is really just telling them that their writing philosophy is unproductive and consistently produces garbage so they should probably take a different approach. All attempts to help these people understand the errors in their perception just look like kicking dirt in their eyes from their perspective and so we remain at a cultural impasse where writing boards are filled with nepotism hires who are ideologically posessed and too deeply insecure to make good media and consistently fail to understand why nobody likes it and this feeds the insecurity further and now the writers focus more on shitting on the fanbase that they're supposed to be selling entertainment too, the fanbase is leery and demoralized and the corporate heads are probably desperately trying to untie the numerous connections that prevent them from just firing these people who are burning their companies in a petty ego trip. It's an amazing mess it's a fucking christmas miracle all year long.
@@sdfabctr And to add to that.. "any lip or disrespect"... often means minor slights that might be completely unintentional and something no one BUT the recipient even saw as a slight at all. People like that just... don't deal with their own failings. They see it as a personal attack any time anyone tries to tell them they have a failing. that's not strength... that's blindness. Sure you can call it "independent"... but.. who really benefits from being "independent" like that?
@@marhawkman303 it's actually the antithesis of independence they're so dependent on external validation that any perceived slight of any kind is an existential threat... That's really fucking socially dependent behavior right there
Confidence, a byproduct of strength, is downstream from discipline which is needed because of responsibility. Responsibility to uphold what has been inherited, love to keep what we have earned and sacrifice to ensure that the future can continue without us.
@@johnwiks2597 Ironically, it used to take some kind of bravery to fight the status quo. Now it takes bravery to refuse to join the mob that burns it all down.
The line about "the powers going to the one most suited" is like they saw comicsgate comments about how these other characters *deserve* their powers because of their strength of character and their arcs of being responsible... but then just distilled it to "only people who deserved it from the outset." Which is ironic because... Daredevil is one of the only heroes who deserved powers from early on, for being good and virtuous. And he *still* had many sacrifices immediately during and after gaining the powers.
But all the writers see is what you get on the screen. None of the nuance of Spider-Man, Luke Skywalker, Batman, etc. We believe tests of character determine if a person is called a hero or a villain. But they just say "only the worthy deserve powers" like all powers are Mjolnir or something. And COMPLETELY FORGETTING that Thor was stripped of his powers until he realized what made him worthy of them. He had the power before. But he was an asshole. And so he was weighed and measured, and ultimately earned the right to be a *hero*, instead of just a powerful warrior.
If you tested She-Hulk/Jennifer Walter's character, it is readily apparent to anyone that she would be found wanting. Powers do not make heroes. Character does. And the writers have missed that ENTIRELY.

J Longbone just bringing up She Hulk's smell from time to time is so friggen hilarious to me.
There's a concept in the Elder Scrolls called CHIM. Where a character in the story gains a level of awareness that they are within a dream world, not specifically that they're in a game or even necessarily a work of fiction, but simply a dream. The idea is that the "dreamer" is in fact the player, and the dream ceases to be when you shut the game off.
Few characters have reached this level of awareness, and doing so typically results in divine ascension (or, total annihilation from the lore, but that's another topic) The concept is still highly debated in the TES community to this day, and I'm very much oversimplifying it.
Point is, when you introduce a concept as meta as knowing you're in a made-up world when everything is meant to be taken seriously, you have to be very careful in the execution. Deadpool handles this fairly well, he doesn't meet his literal god and break his own universe. (That I know of). Deadpool 2 tears down the 4th wall, but it doesn't sacrifice it's story to do it.
Meta commentary is fine, when done right. Another TES example is M'aiq the Liar. He's a character that appears across most games, and has commentary that heavily presses on the 4th wall, but never breaks it. His presence doesn't fundamentally break the universe. She-Hulk... I can't even begin to describe how this works or what it means for future entries in the MCU. There's no reason she can't now will Kang out of existence.
M’aiq is a legend.
"no reason she can't …"
You forget that she's stupid and narcissistic.
How did She-Hulk not realize that the writers and Kevin were the ones who ruined her life by releasing her bills and sex tape? I would imagine that would of been the first thing that came out of her mouth because 1. It directly affects her so her ego and narcissism would not let it just slide. and 2. These are the people who have had total control over her life crumbling. If it were really that traumatizing to make her "she-hulk out" and get arrested she should of at least had one line, but the writers as we've all seen are clearly incapable of having even two episodes exist in the same universe
What's funny is the Bill Bixby Hulk TV show... is the only reason She-Hulk exists. Stan Lee heard a rumor that the TV show was going to introduce a female Hulk character so he had the She-Hulk comic made to preempt the IP.

Hey, nick, glad your channel was allowed to exist again.
I feel like the Kevin sequence could have worked if it had been an acknowledgement that Phase 4 had become a case of quantity over quality and how all the shows ended in the same way, ending with the K.E.V.I.N bot shutting down and (either before or after the airing of She Hulk) the announcement that the MCU would be taking a break after the end of Phase 4... the issue is that I doubt Disney or Marvel are currently - or ever will be - self aware enough for that.
The fact that they went to the trouble of pointing out that the VFX team was being worked to the bone and totally ignored the controversy around it was unironically the funniest thing to come out of this show.
Welcome to EFAP newcomers

The bad guy's plan was to release a sex tape? That shit couldn't even defeat Hulk HOGAN, much less She-Hulk.
Suck it Gawker!
I remember seeing people say that because the Accords got repelled that Cap was right.
I’m still struggling to understand why they chose to use the yellow and red suit. That thing got ditched after the first six issues of daredevil cause even back then the readers thought it was ugly. It would be like giving Batman purple globes in, “The Batman” because he had them in his first issue way back in 1939. If marketing was the reason then why not do what “The Batman” did and make a new suit and make it look cool. It works every time. It gets worse for daredevil. Apparently they are going to use the shadow land suit the new daredevil show (it’s a black suit with red gloves, red boots, and a red double D). I don’t know how they plan on doing that now that this show has already given him a new suit that is perfectly functional.
So we can sell more action figures, we can't sell action figures for Born Again if it looks exactly the same as She-Hulk.

Here's a horrifying thought. Smart Hulk seems to be just Bruce. Meaning there was a period where Scar was raised just by regular Hulk.
