    When Scorsese tells them that their theme park movies are corporate, soulless theme park rides, they throw a bitch fit about how these movies are misunderstood masterpieces that need to sweep all awards. When Jay was talking about how they could have had a tragic aspect to MODOK, being an absurdly disfigured person whose appearance makes him really hard to take seriously, which turns him into an angry, insane social outcast who ends up being quite intimidating to be around.
    That reminds me of that one real-life guy who has some horrible disease that made his skin grey and totally disfigured his head and face to the point that it looks so hideous it's scary. And I'm not saying like "haha, can you imagine being so ugly you scare people lol", I mean if you saw him walking toward you, you'd jump out of your skin. The guy developed a lot of mental issues because absolutely nobody wanted to be around him, he couldn't make friends or go out or get a job. He ended up being arrested for sexual assault, which that alone tells a whole story about his mental condition.
    MODOK could have been the kind of grim, scary, pitiful, and morbidly fascinating character that you never ever see in a movie...yet they totally wasted the opportunity to create the next big, memorable villain.

Nowhere to be seen in the movie.

    The Year is 2050. Go to movies, it's the weekly MCU movie. Disney logo on screen. It's phase 12 of the story. Movie starts, Tobey Maguire is in a wheelchair. A burglar comes into his house, steals his Funko Pops. Tobey says "it's peterin time" (this is a reference to the hit 2022 film morbius). Also says "that sounded better in my head." He puts on his mask, the crowd screams until my ears ring. He swings at the man as he's running away. A portal opens and captain Europe steps into the scene. Tobey accidentally swings into him He says "it's all good I have healthcare". Crowd cheers, captain Europe had his own TV show in 2048 and this is a reference to his prostate exam episode in season 6 where he makes the same joke. Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield come through the portal and point at each other, making the funny Spider-Man meme again. They all start jerking each other off as the camera zooms out, revealing the Death Star and the Star Wars theme briefly plays. Crowd cheers again before the screen cuts to black and Darth Vader's laugh plays. Post credit scene shows Thanos reappear, and he says, "I'm coming for you Redditors." Crowd cheers one last time, before news sources are saying this is one of the best movies of all time. Thank you Disney for saving the film industry.

    I love how this is the fifth project dealing with the multiverse and they still don’t have a consistent rule set. For example Janet now apparently had interactions with Kang before the events Ant Man 2, and therefore Infinity War, Endgame and off coarse Loki which established that Kang only exists after the events of the last episode…

    • @majesticchicken672
      @majesticchicken672 Рік тому

      @@finalfantasy50 The premise of the show is built on the idea that the TVA or the Time Variants Authority monitor the entirety of the timeline of events from the beginning of time to the end. This is dubbed as the “Sacred Timeline”, and any event that wasn’t supposed to happen can cause a branching timeline which if let unchecked will lead to the creation of another universe and therefore lead to the further creation of the multiverse. The example they use as an event that can cause this can be as simple as you running late for work. However because of this the flow of time in the MCU is called into question as many of the easter eggs they have fuck over the continuity.
      The reason for all this bullshit is ultimately done so that the true leader of the TVA, referred to as “He Who Remains”, can maintain a single universe without the possibility of other, more dangerous, variants of himself appear. I.E. Kang the Conqueror. He is then killed because he thought it would be a genius idea to manipulate events to create 2 variants of Loki who hate his guts so that they can replace his position. Obviously he is killed and multiverse is formed and the TVA forget what their job is and just let it happen. If this doesn’t make sense to you, you are correct, but that’s what happened.
      However as many people pointed out, this contradicts the events of the first Doctor Strange where not only do they establish the multiverses existence but that they also draw their power from “other dimensions of the multiverse”, and the biggest one, can travel through it via the Sling Ring. The events of this film directly impact Infinity War and Endgame, which leads into the events of Loki as Loki picking up the the tesseract wasn’t supposed to happen. Don’t ask how that works, because I don’t fucking know.
      The explanation that people who are fans of Loki have given me is that since the events of the show take place “ Outside of space and time” the events of Loki take place before and after the MCU. Bearing in mind there is no reference for this that I have found, it also means that the MCU has to either exist in a state where the multiverse exists and doesn’t exist at the same time OR the multiverse suddenly stops existing between the events of Doctor Strange and Loki for this argument to make sense.
      Ignoring as well many of the other contradictions with that show and the rest of the Multiverse projects, Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania is meant to serve as a soft continuation of Loki and even keeps the visual motif for how the Sacred Timeline and Wider Multiverse is represented. However as mentioned before, the events of Ant Man and the Wasp Quantumania cannot co exist with the events in Loki.
      I know that was a long one, but the amount of damage Loki did in 6 episodes is fascinating. Even with the existence of She-Hulk, Thor Love and Thunder and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (which, by the way, was written by the same person who wrote Loki), Loki comes out on top as the worst thing the MCU and perhaps the wider Superhero genre has ever put out.

      Remember how the play in Thor Ragnarök that recapped Thor the Dark World actually did more than just recap: it showed the audience Loki's current headspace and it was the final clue for Thor to fully realize that Loki was impersonating Odin? What happened to moments like that where, even if the recap was unnecessary, the scene was still important in other ways?

    Beneath the EFAP tree,
    Where oft I've lingered twilight hours,
    Watching, my Long, for thee.
    I waited till the Ant-men grew
    Like giants, grim and grey;
    I waited till MODOK's coming chased
    The Ant-men far away.
    I waited for, I knew not what;
    But, oh, I waited there,
    Hoping, perchance, some good writing to find,
    To lighten my despair.
    A year ago last May, I sat
    Beneath the old EFAP-tree;
    My tryst was not a broken one,
    For, Chat, you came to me.
