I mean, yeah, the whole movie talks about how the lost kingdom was bringing an even worse version of global warming.
This is actually quite remarkable. I don't think there ever been a movie universe that's been left so thoroughly in shambles. It's biggest success (Wonder Woman) was dragged through the dirt by its sequel, its core tent-pole movie has two mutually exclusive and equally contentious versions (and because of development malarkey, neither of them is fully in continuity with the rest of the universe), the timeline and cast have been retconned in a vague and unspecific manner, meaning no one really knows what's canonical and who plays which character anymore, and then the entire cinematic universe ends with a mostly insular nothing-burger of a movie.
And all of this based on a nearly century old, iconic, mega-popular franchise that should've made money hands over fist in the billions. We live is a crazy timeline.
Maybe the justice league movie would be popular if Superman was Superman, Batman was Batman, Aquaman was Aquaman, you get my point...

Buff almost implies a level of himbo simplicity, muscular implies it’s almost incidental and a result of discipline. I feel like “muscular” characters still have the ability to be interesting and complex. “Buff” characters are used only for their looks.
Because a "dude-bro" isn't "threatening" to the betas in Hollywood. He's a comedic character. A "stoic king" should be taken seriously and honestly, and is inherently dominant. And those things are feared by current modern "woke cinema".

Patrick Wilson is the best thing about this movie. And when they were talking about Aquaman not wanting to be king and whatever I thought they were setting it up for Orm getting the throne back at the end of the movie.
It would the undo the ending of the 1st film if aquaman gave up the throne. Also orm murdered one of the fish kings in the 1st film so he is a criminal.

My theory for why movie like aquaman exists basically boils down to a fear of the cellphone. Studio execs have this idea in their head that if they don't constantly keep the story moving at a breakneck pace, the audience will pull out their phone and at that point you can never get them back. Hence why you have action scenes on schedules as opposed to whether or not they fit the plot, pointless jokes to fill the silence, inappropriate jokes spoiling heavy moments that need time to properly develop, 'quirky' being falsely considered a character trait, etc.
The most common complaint you'll hear an idiot make about a good movie is 'boring'.... they can't articulate what they even mean by that in any meaningful way, they just know the story went over their head so they checked out. Which is ironic, because most of the best movies ever are full of quite moments of tension building or character development that draws the audience in so make the story land properly, but somehow still the idiots opinion seems to be dictating modern corporate movie making.
I think this is especially pronounced with Marvel and DC, because both franchises have long been under the control of people largely with no backround in the entertainment industry. They frankly don't know how to filter out the worthless feedback, and thus you get movies like Aquaman 2, which seems tailor made to be running on a second monitor while the viewer is more interested in the videogame on the primary.
Every timE EFAP misses a Rags pun, a child goes hungry somewhere in the 3rd world. SAD

I remember the impact Aquaman's first episode from the Justice League Cartoon had in me. The "arm" and "baby" scene was shocking to my younger self.
Aquaman was a tough and arrogant king but he loved his people and he wasn't needlessly violent and he wasn't a warmonger.
My favorite aqua man was from Batman brave and bold where he was actually kind of similar to the one portrayed in this film

This movie felt more like a Captain Planet episode than an Aquaman movie. Just put Jason Mamoa in grey makeup and green hair, give a couple other characters some elemental powers and you've pretty much got it.
Do you think that they were testing the waters for people to cry out, "If only this was a Captain Planet movie!" because I think it may have been a cry from the studio "We want to make a Captain Planet movie."

3:09:51 ATLA did it better with admiral zhao. I think the point in aquaman 2 based on their description is that manta is so prideful that he would refuse the help of aquaman out of principle. He would rather die than accept aquaman as his savior. I don’t know mantas exact character but to accept help then backstab or commit suicide by head butting the person helping you up like in gta seems more the character of a psychopath not just a generally evil thing that every evil character should do. In ATLA it was sort of the same thing where zhao and zuko were similar in their desire to capture the avatar. Zuko was still willing to help his adversary even though they were trying to kill eachother moments before, but zhao would rather die to the spirit he tried to kill than to accept zukos help.

I will always reference that Aquaman once reveals he doesnt talk to fish, he uses his powers to override the part of their brains that allow the fish to have free will. And forces them to do his bidding. In the same interview Aquaman reveals he can also do this to humans and refuses to do so. ((Obviously not always true in ever version. But it was directly addressing the "you talk to fish" claims)) even since 1982 aquaman could control anything that evolved from sealife, including humans, Martians, and KRYPTONIANS. Saying he talks to fish is highly inaccurate

On the topic of falling and landing on various things, you would actually want to aim for snow over basically any other option that you might see below.
Airmen during WW2 who were forced to bail out without a parachute were able to survive falls of many thousands of feet with only minor injuries just by landing in deep snow.

I kinda hate the rep Aquaman has even tho hes actually super powerful because hes not as well known as Superman.
Aquaman doesnt only have powers over water when hes in it. He has water magic that he learns from Mera. His trident is magical and if he throws it, it will reaapear in his hand. It also amplifies his magic.
Everyone in the JL has some sort of way to combat Superman in case he goes nuts; Batman has a kryptonite ring he always keeps on, Wonder Woman has a magical unbreakable lasso, and Aquaman is magical sea superman.
Funny getting this and Godzilla -1.0 when DC and Godzilla are having a crossover where he’s in Atlantis fighting Tiamat(leviathan kaiju) and Issue #1 Godzilla’s atomic breath killed Superman

Around 1:25:00 all I can think about is how the EFAP guys are describing the first Thor movie from 2011. I did not see Aquaman 2, but it sounds like the creators should have followed the script of that movie instead of what they did.
