YES! You're really the first one on youtube who really does useful skating tutorials. Better than our local personal coaches. Watched so many videoa but you you nailed it! Thank you sooo much! Adorable coach...
This was very helpful, going to try it during my next session. I have a horrible habit of forcing the turns or getting frozen and unable to turn. Sometimes I end up pitching up onto my toe picks and either save myself by hopping around or have a nasty fall. I think "bend, up, bend" but still can't manage it. :(
I'm getting into skating to support my daughter who is 3 and loves it so much. I want to take the exams with her. These videos are really helpful and even help me explain things to her, and coaches seem very pleased. My cutie went from zero to skating backwards and jumping, in a little more than one month. We're in a local sports club but can't afford personal trainers, so this is very helpful 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 The only thing I never know is how to breathe and to get a better feeling for my overall alignment. Maybe this will come in time. One can clearly see how confident you are in your movements. It's a reward to watch it. Wish you had some programs of yourself showing off your skills. I bet it's worth watching. 💕
Thanks for posting this! I've started learning how to skate and I'm stuck with this. Looking forward to trying your tips - the zoomed in view was very helpful, thank you😁
Hi Mary! Thank you for a nice tutorial. It took me a while, but finally, after watching this, I understand and remember the difference between inside and outside 3 turn 😀 It can sound fooly, (I'm almost 40) that I didn't figure it out earlier, but I'm comming back to skating this year, after 20 years and, honestly, I never knew the terminology of the moves. I'd like to appreciate your teaching skills 👍 Wish you the very best into 2023! Greetings from the heart of Europe ❤️
This video came just in time! I was working with my coach on flips last week and he noted that I kept jerking my right leg when I do the 3turn with my left leg in preparation for the jump. So I have to breakdown my 3turns and really work on them again. I learnt 3turns the way you did it in the video (with my other leg tucked in), but for the flip jump the other leg is hanging out, so I find that a bit different and more difficult to control. This video is really really helpful. Thank you so much!

Thank you for your love and support!
Thanks coach for the useful skills of figure skating.I’m the beginner and it’s always difficult for me to get better ,though I have my own coach. But your teaching video is really for me to practice by my own self! Thanks again.
Finally got this after about 200 tries yesterday! Practiced at the wall. One thing that helped me was concentrating on how the raised foot/leg helped propel the turn. I could never figure out before how to propel myself around with just my arms! I also found that if I said to myself “step, lift, turn” in my head, it helped.
This is very interesting. I notice that I am always 'forcing the turn as it shows in this video clip. I al really gonna try to this next wednesday to learn 3 turns.
Recently got interested in Olympic figure skating, and this trick had me flabbergasted. The judges never even mentioned it outside vaguely complimenting "foot work". Meanwhile I'm wondering how its physically possible. Love the showcase~ maybe I'll find a rink to try learning some basics. Spinning on the ice looks like fun.
Coach Mary😄 Good morning. I am having problems getting momentum with my forward swizzled. I actually got a slight groin pull trying to do them. What am I doing wrong?😟
OMG! When you were demonstrating the inside outside edges.. was that deep lean on both done just with your strength? You didn’t hold onto anything just standing still like that? If not, how did you position your body to do that?
For my synchro we have to go super fast in a straight line and then switch to backwards and connect and I cannot figure out how to do it straight and fast
are your boots supportive and are the blades on correctly? you may also have stronger thighs/inside of your legs compared to your outer leg/glute muscles. stretching also helps!
Thanks! I just started group lessons for Adut basic 5 and they showed a this at the end of the class. The edge thing was a little unclear to me. Thanks for clearing it up!! You are so amazing. I hope to be half as good of a skater as you one day.
I finally learned this move today!! So excited because I thought I'd never get it. Now my next goal is to do that fancy move you did with it at the end of your tutorial with several three turns in a row across the rink!!
Hello Coach. I just discovered your tutorials and want to say thank you! They are clearly presented, and it is very helpful that you include video of doing it the WRONG way. I'm an intermediate level skater, trying to improve my basic skills - crossovers, transition forward to backward, outside edges, etc. but I am doing it on hockey skates. I probably should be on figure skates (I don't play hockey) but this what I own and what I learned on. I am very tentative on outside edges, esp. when skating backwards. Even moves such as a mohawk make me feel like I might fall over the front or back of the blade; figure skates just look more stable in that regard. Any insights or suggestions?
I also skate on hockey skates, but I plan to get figure skates. If you are learning figure skating, it's just a no brainer to get the correct skates. it's not just the toe pick. The rocker is also different, the blade is longer and flatter, and the heel of the blade extends past (behind) your heel giving you extra control. Tiny differences can make a big difference, why make something already hard even harder?

The guy appearing on 6:05 made my day
Hahah that was cool/funny
Easy way to moon walking hahahaha
Stay tuned for backwards 3 turns and more skating fun!!!

yay! you got this! i think 3 turns are one of the harder beginner skills to learn
This tutorial was really useful! Only with your guidlines I became able to do this 3 turn. It is not perfect yet, but I got it! Thanks a lot
awesome! glad you are getting this turn

i'm glad you got it! :)
I just did 30 tries today. I guess with another 170 tries on Thursday maybe I'll get it!
This is the best three turn video I have seen. Thanks!
I'm so happy you enjoy it
I need to learn this.
This one take patience guys, the more shoulder twist you do the easier it is :)
exactly!
I’ve always wanted to try these turns but just like dance I’m always afraid to fall but I’ve gotta try. Even if I fall I’ll get right back up.
Super helpful. Thank you!
I just started figure skating at 15 years old and I will definitely practice this next time
keep up the great work!
Thank you for this!
This is very interesting. I notice that I am always 'forcing the turn as it shows in this video clip. I al really gonna try to this next wednesday to learn 3 turns.
How did it go?!
The slight lift up the heel did it for me, thanks a bunch,.
so happy that helped!

Thank you coach, i will follow your way.
of course :)
Very helpful
Woww🤗☺ I really want to thank you for this video for me has been very useful. Y recibe un saludo con cariño desde la Ciudad de México.🌎
Thank you for watching!
Gonna try it today. Hope it works out!
Hope it does too keep me posted!
Awesome!!! 👍🏽
:))
Thanks so much for your videos!😄
Thank you for your support Rebecca!
Coach Mary😄 Good morning. I am having problems getting momentum with my forward swizzled. I actually got a slight groin pull trying to do them. What am I doing wrong?😟
Fantastic tutorial video!" :)
thanks so much for watching!
Awesome vidéo, the best explanations ever! Thanks so much! Why is it called the « 3 » turn? I see only one turn!?
Sorry I should have covered this! If you look at the pattern on the ice, it makes a 3 :) the turn makes the middle line of the number 3.
If you look at the ice after you do a correct 3 turn, you'll see you made a pattern that looks like a 3.
Sooooo helpful! Thanks!
so happy you found it helpful :)
OMG! When you were demonstrating the inside outside edges.. was that deep lean on both done just with your strength? You didn’t hold onto anything just standing still like that? If not, how did you position your body to do that?
It will come with practice! I focus on pressing more on the back of my blade for forward edges
Ha.....don't let coach snow you. she had something off camera she was using to support her. How cute that she doesn't want to admit it.
I’m not sure why but I can only do my outside or inside forward three turns from a standstill but never while gliding
Hello coach Mary 🥰 are you located in Colorado? I'm only asking because this looks like the arena I go to that's located in aurora.
yes I am! That is the same rink :)
No one
No one at all
My arms when I'm ice skating:↗️⬆️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️⤵️⤴️↪️↩️⬆️↗️➡️↖️➡️↘️⬇️↙️⬅️⤵️↘️⬇️➡️↗️
Is it the hip that is leading or the foot? Whenever I glide in a straight line i don’t know what should go first or how to get the momentum
I keep hockey stopping 😭
For my synchro we have to go super fast in a straight line and then switch to backwards and connect and I cannot figure out how to do it straight and fast
hi! make sure you're aligned and let the edge turn you! bend and rise. hips will be square when turning.
When I try an outside three turn I always have to put my other leg down immediately after completing it 😔 what am I doing wrong?
that's the trickiest part! keep legs together after turning, don't rock up to the toe pick (scratching sound), practice lots of glides and edges alone
How do you get used to the rocker?.
I can't get this! Where does the momentum or force come from to initiate the turn when you're on one foot?
You got this! It comes from the edge you’re creating on the ice and when you push onto the one foot
Just a twist of the hips is all the force you need.
I always walk on inside edged on both of my feet. I have problems with my feet. Please help
are your boots supportive and are the blades on correctly? you may also have stronger thighs/inside of your legs compared to your outer leg/glute muscles. stretching also helps!
Man that looks so easy on ice having no resistance! 😢
are you Vietnamese?
When you start on an outside edge and you turn at the top of the circle, do you then switch to an inside edge? Vice versa?
yes, you are correct! for 3 turns, the turn will change edge, but still stay on the same curve/circle :)
Thanks! I just started group lessons for Adut basic 5 and they showed a this at the end of the class. The edge thing was a little unclear to me. Thanks for clearing it up!! You are so amazing. I hope to be half as good of a skater as you one day.

Yes that is great congrats!
Using this to learn 3 turns on rollerblades
great! how is it going?!
@@CoachMarySkating I can do 3 turns, both ways, with both feet on the ground. I'm working on one footed 3 turns!
