      I did the same thing! I'm very competitive with myself so I'm watching and listening to other people's coaches when I skate at public sessions. I'm taking one lesson a week for 30 minutes but trying to practice as much as I can. I tend to get crazy arms, but I'm working on that!

    How do we get that inside lean? I can't seem to lean into the circle like that. Also, how can we get better extension for the second push? My first push is pretty extended but I can't get my second push lift very high.under my skating leg.

    • @kosamekii
      @kosamekii 2 роки тому +1

      hi!! i’m a self taught figure skater and i just figured this out today! To get that lean, when you step imagine that your THIGHS are crossing over each other too rather than just your foot. The pushing doesn’t come from stepping then pushing. Your leg slides over WHILE crossing which is what the lean helps with. By making sure you feel that you’re crossing your thighs over, you’ll be able to shift your weight onto the sliding leg more easily. hope this helps a bit :))

    can I ask what brand or model the brown color skating boots are? I've seen many coaches wearing them at the rink and been so curious :))

    • @CoachMarySkating
      @CoachMarySkating  5 років тому +2

      They are the Jackson DJ3405 coach skates! I think this model may be discontinued though. You can get ice skates most brands in this color though :)

      @@CoachMarySkating Thank you so much for replying! What a helpful tutorial! And your crossover is really beautiful! Im learning crossover now. I can do a baby crossover which does not even count after watching yours. There is almost no time in my crossover when I skate with one leg, whereas the correct way that you do requires holding the stroking position for really long! :))

    • @CoachMarySkating

    I have my own hockey skates so would i matter if I don't push with my side of my blade since I don't have a toe pick?

    • @CoachMarySkating
      @CoachMarySkating  3 роки тому

      In hockey skates will be similar technique too, utilize the blade pushing off from heel to inside edge near toe like base of big toe (not too far on toe otherwise foot slips)

    • @AlwaysJuNe
      @AlwaysJuNe 4 роки тому

      @@CoachMarySkating hi, he is not doing it yet, but I see the progress: he crosses his legs and skates on circle, but still afraid to make overstep forward. More obvious success with three turns: he does outside forward turn, but since he has hardly any speed he stops. We will practice again on our date skate on 14th! And he subscribed to your channel too!!!

    You need to mention which edges that you are on with the double pushes.
