    This is a WONDERFUL site with GREAT lesson tips. I'm a 67-year old who skated as a kid and hasn't been on the ice in 35 years. These little lessons - and Mary's great demeanor - are just plain terrific. I just subscribed!

      "not falling" is actually ultimate objective of many beginners, including a few of my classmates. Now they have quit, leaving me alone continuing learning.

    Hey everyone! Wanted to ask a favor If you enjoy my channel, please remember to subscribe! Most of my viewers are not subscribed. With more likes and subscribers, my videos will be “recommended” by UA-cam to reach more skaters worldwide. I will always continue to post FREE UA-cam and Instagram skating content to give back to the skating community. It has been such a joy the past year making videos and connecting with you all. Thank you for your love and support!

    • @snakebabies67
      @snakebabies67 2 роки тому +3

      @@Stefabeth it's actually gone pretty well. I had to take a little break because of COVID but I'm signing up for Basic 4 today. Falling is inevitable but I find the more scared I am of falling the more I fall. The lessons really do work you from the basics up so I've gotten pretty confident. I did take a hard fall last year and banged my knee up pretty bad but it's ok now. You kind of learn how to fall so it doesn't hurt 😅 Good luck!

    On Wednesday, I got a rejection letter from Sheridan College’s famously competitive Animation program. It devastated me. Hoping to polish up on my skating skills so I can get into this as a hobby to break into something new and move on from the rejection.
    Any tips on how to build up quad muscle strength for skating?
    Thanks again!

    Hi Mary! Thank you so much for these basic skills videos! They’re very helpful! I have a couple of questions:
    1. What figure skates do you recommend for complete beginners? Jackson’s or Riedell? The skates I currently have give me no support on the ankle and I feel very wobbly and shaky on the ice and my ankles always rock inside
    2. How do you engage your core?
    3. When marching, is it similar to just walking normally or are you pushing on the foot that you’re lifting to gain speed? I find myself not going anywhere when I want to glide and that I have very little to no speed
    4. When doing the dip I find myself constantly falling backwards, what can I do to help this?
    5. Swizzled are really hard for me, I find that it’s very hard to push from the starting position and get my toes to touch what can I do to help this?
    Thank you so much!
