Funnily this one was a lot easier for me to learn. Tips: Be sure you're in a deep(ish) edge or you're gonna slide if you're flat, which can be a trick in itself (one foot slide then turn). Arms like he says, hugging the circle at the pivot point and you'll feel it happens by itself. I prefer to swing my legs because I think looks better.
Nailed this today after 6 months of trying, failing, trying etc. My body just kind of went 'ching!' as it aligned with my brain: result is nailing FI3T in bofh directions. For me there are 2 key points - twist that torso and keep the free leg hip back. So chuffed!
Thank you so much for the fun and detailed explanation! This cleared up several questions that bugged me about the inside 3-turn. And it helps so much to see you demonstrate/explain why specific mistakes are bad, instead of just telling "you shouldn't do it, because it's wrong" or "doesn't look pretty"!
I have been struggling to do this turn. But with your explanations I cannot wait to get back on ice and try your tips. It is 4:30 am here, so it will have to wait until the next time that I am on ice. Thanks
i just bought my very first pair of figure skates and im so happy and excited :') I grew up learning to skate in hockey skates but never played the sport. Lloyd is definitely my favourite :) thanks Lloyd this will help me a lot
“Probability of hurting yourself, drastically through the roof.” Mmm, ever thought of a job in motivational speaking? Seriously though, excellent. I hadn’t realised why I find them harder than outsides. I was struggling, until I bought new skates, they were much easier then. My old very expensive hockey skates had little ankle support. Incidentally the last time I was at Gosport rink, they’d had an infestation of arctic moles, the large 2 cm high mounds were dangerous. Planet Ice Basingstoke is just as bad.
so frustrating - i learned these just fine on my good side (RFI), but can’t for the life of me wrap my head around the LFI. it just seems impossible! 😢
Wondering what to do with you life while setting up a turn 😂 I'm Wondering if you have ADHD. It's like keeping track of three conversations going on at once lol. Unfortunately my "delightful" circle as you call it is more of a "diabolical" circle. My body does not seem to enjoy being anyway near it.
Hmm, maybe that’s why I have a hard time going into a toe-loop. My body keeps rotating and I have hard time finding a spot to toe-in. I’ll rewatch again where you talk about it… I also have difficulty getting on the ball of my blade. I swear I don’t feel it well, it’s like going from the back strait onto toe-picks 🥹
I have major mental blocks with these!

That rink is Gosport, they’ll have a way to book lessons.
I can do inside 3 turns now, but only if I remember how delightful the circle is 😂
Lloyd with glasses >>>
Any chance we could get some videos on brackets/counters/rockers and how to progress to them?
will try tomorrow :)

I have a question. How to prolong my after glide? I do turn, and then small glide only out of it. Iove the video! Was very entertaining and useful ❤

For some bizarre reason I could never master the right forward inside three. All others o.k. It stumped my coaches as well.
