    I always wanted to skate since i found yuzuru but i my mom couldn’t financially afford it so i stayed lingering in my fantasies, now im 17 and i finally got the opportunity to learn it. Its soooooooooo fun, i wish i started sooner but its ok. I dont care, i just want a reason to wake up each morning. Also that feeling of flying on ice is so fantastic, i love it

    Your videos are amazing. I begin trying it. Increasingly I find it easier watched than done. The instructions are effective. Yet lots of practice are needed to achieve the results.

    It might just be me, but rather that starting from 'cold' into the back-threes, I always found it easier initially to do them as double-threes, starting from forwards each way and doing the back-threes using the momentum and balance already gained.

    • @KateSkates
      @KateSkates 2 роки тому +5

      thats the same with me i can do then if i do a forwards one then do a backwards but i lose all momentum so i have to put my foot down straight after

    Great tutorial and explanations, Coach Julia! I noticed that on the back outside 3 turn you’re teaching the turn with the free leg behind? My coach is having me learn them with the free leg in front, and initiating the turn with the hips - it’s a scary sensation to get used to, and my problem is that reflexively I open my hips before the turn so that the free leg swings out ahead of the turn, instead of keeping my hips square to the tracing/circle.

    • @doomicorn77
      @doomicorn77 2 роки тому

      My coach is doing the same thing. I was hoping to see a reply from Coach Julia here. Trying to get the 3-turns with the free leg in front throws me off-balance and is much more difficult. I was wondering if that was just a style choice from my coach or a standard practice.

    One time a man came to FS sports section, and coach asked him what he could do on ice. The man said, i could skate an '8'.
    - But this is a very simple figure, - the coach replied,.
    - But i do it a special way, the man said -- drawing '5' with left foot, and '3' with the right simultaneously ;)

    I've got a question, I've had pain in the back of my heel bones for awhile, just did some research, it's achilles tendon bursitis or "pump bump" caused by figure skates pressing on heel bones. Do you have any tips or advice to heal it, or prevent it? Thanks!

    • @mallieewing4209
      @mallieewing4209 3 роки тому +3

      you can get bunga pads that provide cushion. you can also get gel heel cups and put those in your skates to create a soft bottom for your heels. also make sure to ice them and stretch!

    Hi coach first of all you are really a good coach i love your all advices for us. I have jackson artiste skate and i can do mohawks, three turns( inside or outside), criss cross(alternative cross), two foot pivot spin, bunny hoops, crossroll,lunge etc. But my coach is not teaching me any jumps like walts or salchow. Or another spin. He said first you should learn perfect use the edges. I searched my boot is not suitable for full rotation jumps and good spins. Is it true? Is it time to change with higher level boots? I need your opinions and thank you so muchhhhh 🥰⛸⛸💜

      Hi 👋 I'm sure coach Julia just unfortunately missed your question, so I'm going to assist.....yes, the support of your boot is only a 20/25 strength, meaning it will not handle the impact of landings which is sometimes up to 10 times your body weight depending on your skill level, and this is not good for your ankles. As an example, my boot is an Edea Ice Fly, which is a 95 strength. If you are going to start jumping, please use a stronger boot for the sake of your body 🤗

    Is keeping the foot at the heel for the first part correct form or just helpful for learning?

    • @CoachJulia
      @CoachJulia  2 роки тому +2

      It is correct form! It helps keep the move controlled, and helps maintain balance.

    Isn’t the free leg extended in front after the turn?

      Great question! There are definitely different techniques with this, if you have an instructor who prefers a different teaching method, then of course follow that.

    Does anybody struggle with spinning after turning in a 3 turn? This is especially true for my backward outside 3 turns. Somehow after turning, I end up on a very deep inside edge that makes me go into a small circle instead of continuing the gentle curve. Any advice would be appreciated! 🙏

    Coach Julia, I wish you would move to Dubai! If only more coaches were as friendly and sweet as you - why is it that most of the elite folk at ice rinks seem so unapproachable and grumpy? :/

    • @TheLarryBrown
      @TheLarryBrown 6 днів тому

      Because you aren't paying them. Coaches are not on the ice as their hobby, that's their job, their profession, and their livelihood. They won't talk to you unless you are paying them, and they won't give you free advice. Even if they wanted to give you free advice, other coaches would gripe them out. If you give away the milk, why will anyone pay to rent the cow? Good skaters that work at the rink but are not certified coaches will be prohibited by the rink from coaching anyone.

    You don’t turn on your heel you turn on the rocker the ball of the foot. To not fall you stand up straight and you bend rise up and bend.

    • @continents-passerby901
      @continents-passerby901 2 роки тому +8

      Turning on the front rocker is for Forward 3 Turns. Coach Julia also mentioned that at 1:07. U MUST turn on your heel for Backward 3 Turns.

    • @TheLarryBrown
      @TheLarryBrown 6 днів тому

      Anything coach Julia says is pretty much guaranteed correct, however my high profile coach stresses not to turn on the heel but instead use subtle pressure to focus on the ball, middle, or slight rear of the blade, but not the heel, but yes the slightly behind the middle of the blade when turning forward.
