Love my Speed Triple 1200! I’ve put 8000km on it since April and it works flawlessly. Best bike I’ve ever had and perfect for my kind of riding which is mostly street with around 3-5 trackdays per season. Tried the rival bikes but this one just hit me.🤘
You and Greg are an excellent duo for these comparison reviews. Outstanding! Impressed with Triumph build quality and refinement - a plus for long term ownership.
Excellent review as always . It's like comparing a Porsche to a Lamborghini. With ideal roads and not much traffic the Tuono would edge it ,but that's a rare occurrence in the u.k. I've owned 3 Tuono's since 2016 and although they were great fun their reliability and warranty were not the best .
Eugene Gallagher . Took the Speed triple rs out today and it was a revelation. Handling wise , for my body weight , ( 15st) it's firm but not to the point of being uncomfortable. As speeds increase it really starts to come into its own and I think maybe beats the Superduke for agility and composure. Quickshifter is super slick and the brakes are superb. Only complaint is to wheelie it the t.c needs to be off . What were they thinking. It comes up a treat in 3rd. Overall it's a great bike ,just sort the anti wheelie and give us some racy paint jobs Triumph

Completely agree with you Andy, It's the lovely Streetfighter for me too despite costing a fair bit more than these 2. Don't forget the 2021 Streetfighter has been retuned for max torque 2,000 rpm lower in the rev range so it should be even better now on the street.

Most people I talk to say you really don’t need more then 100 hp on the road but when push comes to shove they 9 out of 10 times have a bike with a lot more than that! I have a 2016 GSXS-1000 done a bunch of mods on it over the going on 5 years I have owned her, but I was just watching MCN looking at Suzuki’s moded team Katana 200 + BHP and dreaming of it production! i had a Honda 150 cc bike most of the time in Thailand but I did buy a bigger bike after awhile there to had core fans of super naked if they are honest always want more! My biggest issue with Triumph and the Speedy is the choice of colour, the Tuono just looks so much better. Come on Triumph, you made a fantastic new bike but the paint options are as dull as dish water.
Had the opportunity to ride both and choose between them, went with the aprilia and would go with it every single time. But I did like riding the speed triple more in the city and traffic. Great vid gents.
After owning and riding 8 years on the Street Triple R (2009/2014 models) I bought the Black Speed RS, to me the more substantial feel, power, build quality, ergonomics and the fact that it now rides more like a Street made it a no-brainer :) I have no complaints about the Speed suspension setup in normal (90kg 1.87m rider) since my Street was setup for the track. Only niggles I found sofar in the Speed: Neutral is sometimes hard to find, buzzing/droning in the handlebars above 6k revs which I'm hoping will be less with some bar-end weights, otherwise a perfect bike! Nice review! keep them coming. Cheers from the Netherlands
Rode both bike back to back last week. No doubt the Triumph has a great engine and a brilliant finish (no visible cables/ hoses or any cheap looking surfaces) but the Tuono is by far the much better ride. Drivetrain with a perfect powerdelivery and flawless transmission/ blipper, best in class suspension, great stability, far better electronics/ assist package, great dash, proper ergonomics which suits the avaliable power - not talking about the V4 sound. The only lowlight is the looks of some plastic covers and switches - just my cents.
@Random-user start saving money 💰 and tell your parents to let you start riding smaller cc motorcycles. Eventually by the time you can get a license. You will be able to buy your dream bike.
Excellent review, you mention things/subjects that matter and you want to know as a rider or almost owner. Except from fingering the Speed at the end of the review and I am late for work now, LOL. It trips me out how 'meh' people are about this new Speedie. The thing lost 20+ lbs and gained 30hp in one year. It's launched itself deep into Super Naked territory while remaining civilized and still unquestionably being a Speed III. Not sure what people expect, but I suspect it'll take a little time for it to register.

But maybe a test ride on the Speed (and the Tuono..) just to be sure…
I just received my 2022 Speed Triple 1200RS and have a couple takes of gas through it. Love it. To make it a much better street bike, back the too firm Ohlins settings to 20 Compression and 20 Rebound on both fork and shock. Makes a massive difference. Still well dampened and control but some much more forgiving and much better contract with the road for 180lbs rider. I love the range of adjustments on the new Ohlins.

I've not ridden the 2021 (wife won't let me...) but I'm really sad to see they've started painting on the Triumph logo. I loved the raised lettering on mine; it was a classic touch.
My 2019 doesn't seem to have any niggles but each to their own! That v4 with the akra decat pipe is an absolute symphony and in my opinion the best sounding road bike available! The only niggle I have is keeping the front wheel on the deck 🤣🤣
Great video guys. As I own a 19 Tuono factory and rode the RS yesterday was very interested in your views. Totally agree that the engine in the RS isn’t a patch on the Tuono. However the fit and finish of the Triumph and the smoothness makes it a great bike. The one reason I wouldn’t have one you didn’t mention. After an hour of riding it my legs were extremely sore and cramped, where as the Tuono has never done that to me. Be interested if you had the same experience. Cheers guys.
Great review guys excellent Job, for me its still the Tuono but I am biased I have a 2019, must admit I got the impression from the start you were both going for the Triumph. I wonder is there a bit of GB bias :-), no harm if there was, its normal.
G'day Mr Chops. Great video. Two very good riders and two excellent motorcycles, let them loose on the highways and byways of English roads and what have you got , a super comparison. Well done chaps. For me it's the value for money Triumph but it was a close call. Brilliant.
Fantastic review Mr Chops, much appreciated! If only the Speed triples colours weren't inspired by John Major. I would love if somebody inside Triumph would explain their thinking behind the drab colours. Something more vibrant would swing the balance of trading up from my 2016 model
Great video mates! I agree with your points. I think the ease of use of the Triumph’s power especially above 6k gets you moving quicker than you realize. I own one with a few mods like Air Filter, Decat Race Exhaust and a Unrestricted ECU Tune and let me tell you… It’s a rocket. I’ve found that I can launch harder by standing on traction/wheelie control. WOT from a stop, or exiting a corner and you can just lean on it and it keeps you sorted. I love it!
Great review!! Got a test ride booked with Triumph for the new Speed RS, even more excited after watching this. Got to admit the Tuono sounds much better though!
1000 out of 1000 I'll take the Aprilia. No question. That fiery Italian engine , passion and quality is superior. I agree with Michael Neeves that the Tuono runs likely the greatest engine on any motorcycle ever produced. I like the Super Duke 1290 R and this over the Triumph. I rode the Triumph and I like it however I would grow tired of it.
As always a great review in this channel. I have been expecting this comparison eagerly. I own a 2011 Speed triple 1050, a 2013 Tuono V4R and a 2015 Street Triple Rx. I rode the Speed Triple 1200RS and the new Tuono V4 last week (and also the new S1000R). I agree with everything said except for me the 1160 triple engine is stronger (at least feels) in the mid range than the V4 from Aprilia. If I had to pick one of the two it would be the Triumph. The Tuono now feels a generation older which it is. The Aprilia still edges in sound and engine feeling but in everything else the Triumph is better. And with the new 1200RS I "don't need" to own a Speed Triple and a Street Triple because the 1200RS really is a Street Triple with a bonkers engine!
Great vid sir's. Any chance of a test of the base Tuono which is now more road focused than ever before. That, on the road could be a game changer in the super naked class. Cheers and keep up the good work.
What awesome timing Chopsy!! Friday knock off time here in Aus on the Queens Birthday Long Weekend; beer in Hand, and your latest video on!! Life is great. Thanks again for the great video and breakdowns…. and throwing a few little doubts into mind on the Tuono (which still hasn’t landed here)…. Still craving your detailed comparison of the Tuono and S1000R!!!😜😜 cheers mate!! 🍺🍺
Enjoyed the video. The Tuono is about as naked as a winter sheep. You repeated my son's words when he sold his; 'It is too much for the road', and he went on; 'I can't afford to lose my licence'.
Great video as usual Lamb Chops! You probably are right about the Triumph, it could be the better bike, but as a Tuono 2020 owner myself, for its little niggles, it's still the best bike for me and when I open my garage door it always makes me smile! I have never tried a speed triple, but the looks don't do it for me and Triumph continue to do dull, boring paint schemes. Like you said, if they had done the Speed in a red, it may even tempt me to try one. Keep up the good work!
Great review as always, great bikes, i owned a Tuono V4 Factory for 8 months, and have done a few miles on the new speed triple, if you lived somewhere with great roads, virtually no traffic and no speed limits they’d be superb but in reality as an everyday bikes the whole current crop are largely useless, not very comfortable, loads of power you can’t use, snatchy and only really good above the national limit, and the fuel light will be on in a minute, the old speed was was a better road bike, the Tuono’s finish suffers quickly in the wet/ salt and it takes hours to clean… what are they for ?
Nice vid as usual! Between the 2021's i think i'd pick the Triumph, by a .0005 margin but as i have the 2020 Tuono factory i can't see any of them motivating a swap : )

Mine has plenty of niggles and everyone I talk to asks why I tolerate it. So I let the old man borrow it...he understands now lmfao
haha good point Marcus
I don’t think there’s been a video this year I’ve been hanging out for more than this. Cheers Chopsie!
I appreciate the thorough comparison. Can't wait to see the naked shootout.
proper detailed, informative test, none of your '5 favourite things' basicness 👍
Great review guys excellent Job, for me its still the Tuono but I am biased I have a 2019, must admit I got the impression from the start you were both going for the Triumph. I wonder is there a bit of GB bias :-), no harm if there was, its normal.
Excellent work Chops , speed triple would be my pick ,styling of the Triumph over Aprilia nice
Loved the vid chaps, a really good watch! Looking forward to more in this format. 😎😎😎
Ps id choose the Italian 🇮🇹
Great to watch... this is as good as a review can be!
I really enjoy this format chops good stuff
Great review john and partner as the number of subscribers reflects...well done, the public do not lie 😄
G'day Mr Chops. Great video. Two very good riders and two excellent motorcycles, let them loose on the highways
and byways of English roads and what have you got , a super comparison. Well done chaps. For me it's the
value for money Triumph but it was a close call. Brilliant.
I've said it before but you two have a great dynamic. Very entertaining guys 🤘
WOULD ABSOLUTELY LOVE TO SEE 2021 SUPER NAKED TEST..😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
definitely great format, please do more of these !
Love to see the super-duke vs speed triple comparison, excellent video as always
I love it!
I must watch, you said my favourite word "Hooning"
Great review!! Got a test ride booked with Triumph for the new Speed RS, even more excited after watching this. Got to admit the Tuono sounds much better though!
re 19:22 . Needs to be in a bright red. I completely AGREE ! I hope Triumph listen to you two :)
Enjoyed that, a great summation of the two bikes 👍🏻🙂
Great comparison, really enjoyed the video 🤙
Great vid sir's. Any chance of a test of the base Tuono which is now more road focused than ever before. That, on the road could be a game changer in the super naked class. Cheers and keep up the good work.
Will try Boz, really depends if Wheel's have a demo and I don't think they do
What awesome timing Chopsy!! 🍺🍺
My thoughts EXACTLY,,....just havin a beer after knocking off for a long weekend (in Aus) 👍
V4 baby
Good review guys, well done
Loved this video,,,you all are awesome!!
Top notch chops
Yet again.
What a well considered and enjoyable assessment and conclusion. Thanks very much.
Another great great review
🏴 love from Scotland 🏴
Thank you kindly 😁👍
Great review, really enjoyed it.
Great review and good to to see you team up with Greg again. I like the honesty and real life chat between the pair of you. The Speed always wins hands down for me. Best review of the RS I've seen so far. Good onya Chopsie. Cheers from Melbourne.
Chopsy, so enjoy this comparison forum. But, to not get completely off topic..for the street my Honda CBR 600rr is awesome! I've been riding 40 yrs, and Honda nailed it! It's a 2012 btw.
Common, seriously no one is going to mention these cheap stickers on the triumph? I really like this format guys. Good to see it back.
Simply brilliant lads
Is that engine casing cracked on the Tuono at 23:13 where the join is and bolt goes up? Not good
