Blazejunkie bought mine on 3-16-18, and I love it. Went on an 8 day cruise the week after my purchase, so I haven’t had the bells and whistles time yet, but that’s coming.
Question lets say I brought a C7 2015 Stingray. Is there an actual difference between it and a C7 2019 Stingray or does the year just tell when it was manufactured?
Minor update, it is 2019 and i just bought a 2014 C7 Z51 with 5,000 miles on it and am thrilled with the quality and performance. My last Corvette was a 2007 White Z06 and i do not miss it a bit. Best deal for $45,000 on the market.
I remember watching this interview when the stingray was first revealed. Never was big on Corvettes, but after this interview and reveal I was a fan. Fast forward and I just picked my '24 Z06 a few weeks after dreaming about owning a corvette for so long. Salute to Tadge who's retiring as of this summer and going out with a bang, delivering us the 1064 hp ZR1!!
Will have to pick up one of these. Haven't purchased one since 1998 (before that it was 1976 - and before that, my first, a used 1970 I bought as a teen in 1976). Time for the new body style. I love it!
Supercars: Lets work harder and use carbon fiber! Lambo Huracan weight - 3400lbs Corvette: Lets work smarter and use hydroformed aluminum! Corvette C7 Grand Sport - 3500 lbs
I'm not a huge corvette fan, but the new design looks great. I love direct fuel injection. And I'm super impressed with the fact that GM went for it. All of the gents in the video are EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. It's really refreshing to listen to that depth of understanding. Lots of work went in to the making of this automobile, and like a said I'm not a huge Corvette fan, but I definitely can give credit where credit is due. Bravo comrades, bravo.
Great job GM. It's the first Corvette I want to buy. The interior looks competitive to anything out there, it's a bout time and I love the courage you took with the back end.
I'm not really a fan of CarandDriver videos, but this was the most informative corporate demo/intro of a car I've seen online. A bit cold sometimes, but for engineers and corporate people talking for that long they did a good job.
i used to assemble the rear suspension module and front vertical for the Chevy Malibu and you are correct. the parts we used were from all over the world
thanks for the response. My cousin owns a 07 zo6 and drove it across country(virginia to cali) and averaged 26mpg..Like I said it depends on how you drive it..
Yes there is a such thing. This is the first 7 speed Manual with a clutch pedal out there in the USA if any car at that, and it has rev matching look it up.
Love the car. Progressive, overall refinement, advanced technology, world class performance, race inspired and decades of rich American heritage. Great job Corvette!
Exactly. It's all about preference. I'm not gloating on AWD either. I've driven all type of them from FWD, AWD, or RWD. But once I drove AWD from a Mitsu Evo, that's when I preferred it the most.
you're right!!..........as far as sports cars, I never really wanted a Corvette.....but this STINGRAY......yeseeerrrreeeee!!!!.............I WANT ONE!!!
a dominating step in the corvette chain of life i believe with the advancements that are put into the car and keeping it at a reasonable price the corvette will remain the top watch and loved car of america. i have loved and followed the corvette since i was a young child and it will also remain my favorite vehicle made no matter the changes and advancements negative or positive. i love the new corvette and the way it is made in the full view of each aspect of the vehicle keep it up
I have purchased a 2017 grand sport new. My last corvette was a 2008 Z51 manual. That car was given to my son. Both vehicles are fantastic, but our new grand sport is by far the better car of the two in every way. THANK YOU GM ENGINEERS.KEEP SMILIN bill & Wendy thompson
It's about time. Finally an interior that actually looks like it belongs in a 40+ grand car. The car looks sexy as hell, but the interior has always been a drag (on Chevy as a whole not just the vette.) Nothing like dropping 40,000 bucks on a car to sit in a 40 dollar interior. And truth be told, I think the big three as a whole have stepped their game up quite a bit in the last couple yrs, It's good to be an American car fan again.
is it just me or was this designer looking at a few italian cars while coming up with this car.....ferrari and pagani come to mind....looks great . well done corvette!
Despite having design cues reminiscent of other modern sports cars, this can still be declared the best looking Corvette EVER!!! GM has so far improved in every aspect of the Corvette. All that's left to do now is wait to see those numbers.
The GT-R is a front engine car with half the engine size of all the cars of brands you mentioned yet it is still a highly regarded and respected sports car/ super car
very cool car..Corvette is the true American sports car..great styling, fun to drive, excellent performance, good highway gas mileage. C7 will be my third Corvette when the convertible version is available..can't wait..:)
Might take a while to adapt to the drastic changes, but it looks like a lot of thought went into it so it's got the depth that will make it worthy to talk about for days to come.
Hey Car and Driver, thanks for the great look at the C7, I'm really looking forward to when you guys get behind the wheel, would love to see a full comparison with similar American V-8's, The Ford GT500, and the Camaro, heck even the new Viper, cause that would just be awesome
To be honest I was trying to push your buttons, i expected you to go on a rant after that. but since you didn't you have gained my respect for your opinions. you appreciate cars, and i don't really have a passion for them. The first thing i said to myself when i seen it was "Looking more like Euro cars every year" not discriminating in any way
You are correct, beemer obviously hasn't been in a BMW dealership. Not only are the M6/M5 listed for 100k it's hard to even get an M5 because they are sold out in many areas. I love how people compare the M5 to sports cars when the M5 is a sedan. Not to mention the last M5 was beaten on the ring by the CTS-V.
NOTE TO CARANDDRIVER : Please Stop using Noise Reduction Plugin on low FFT settings, use something like Sony NR2.x in VST mode and tell your Sound guys the word "Noise Reduction" doesn't mean Noise Removal , so adjust your sliders to a reasonable level, don't try to remove the entire noise from the interviewee's voice as it sounds Watery as hell.... Just a thought, keep up the good work.
Congrats on producing such a beautiful machine. Haven't been excited about Corvette since early-to-mid 60s. So then, that said, who do you have introduce it properly considering that Dinah is no longer with us...?
Many sports cars have all wheel drive to assure power gets to the ground. Please comment on why the covervette does not have all wheel drive. Great Car!!!
This looks very nice cant wait to see it in person.. Don't really care for the back of the car, but the car does look great. I know what im going to buy next year.( Want them to get all the bugs out first) and i can't wait
The headlights somehow look like Ferrari's but shorter, the side scoops look like Nissan GTR, the brakelights look like those from Lamborghini, and the rear bumper i think they're inspired by the Pagani Huayra. However, it's a very nice car. Nice blend of different styles. The engineers and designers has done a good job and i think people should appreciate it. :)
The Chief GM designer said they were thinking about putting back the Split Windows, but The C2 was An all time classic for being one of the beautiful cars made in the world, they didn't want to re-use that style simply because it was "Priceless". so they used a technique of kind of mimicking the rear window by putting those 2 quarter windows on the side of the car, for giving the car a kind of retro but all new look."
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Chevrolet stopped production of the '82 corvette and introduced the model year '84 vette in the beginning of '83. So while there is no MY'83 Corvette, they were still in continuous production.
I can't wait for 2 to 3 years from now when the used price drops down to about 35,000 to 40,000 so I can buy a base corvette.
Blazejunkie do it now! You can buy the 2014-2015 stingrays for as low as 30k-36k with decent miles too!
I got a z51 for 40k 4 years ago.
Minor update, it is 2019 and i just bought a 2014 C7 Z51 with 5,000 miles on it and am thrilled with the quality and performance. My last Corvette was a 2007 White Z06 and i do not miss it a bit. Best deal for $45,000 on the market.
its just like the coquette from gta v
Did u see the new one as well? It looks just like the c8 in real life as well🤦🏿
I remember watching this interview when the stingray was first revealed.
We can't wait to get our hands on it!
Just bought a 14 2 LT Z51 and LOVE it!
Will have to pick up one of these. Haven't purchased one since 1998 (before that it was 1976 - and before that, my first, a used 1970 I bought as a teen in 1976).

Corvette: Lets work smarter and use hydroformed aluminum! Corvette C7 Grand Sport - 3500 lbs
I love it. I had an '85 with the Z51 package. I'm really looking forward to having one of these.
First off: Awesome name! Second: Great interviews! I really enjoyed the detail and scientific insight offered by the developers.
I'm not a huge corvette fan, but the new design looks great. I love direct fuel injection. And I'm super impressed with the fact that GM went for it. All of the gents in the video are EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE. It's really refreshing to listen to that depth of understanding. thank yuou chevy for bringing back the stingray, hands down one of my favorite cars
Great job GM. It's the first Corvette I want to buy. The interior looks competitive to anything out there, it's a bout time and I love the courage you took with the back end.
I'm not really a fan of CarandDriver videos, but this was the most informative corporate demo/intro of a car I've seen online. A bit cold sometimes, but for engineers and corporate people talking for that long they did a good job.
over half an hour of constant smile for me on this !
Gorgeous car, the best Vette ever. finally a great interior. I look forward seeing it in Le mans.
i used to assemble the rear suspension module and front vertical for the Chevy Malibu and you are correct. the parts we used were from all over the world
Just an iconic platform
Enjoyed listening to Michael Bailey, great SE.
Wow, those taillights are PERFECT!
The taillights caught me off guard when I first saw the car but after about 2 minutes they grew on me. Gives the car and very modern high-tech look.
Great interview. Well thought out questions with good answers. Thanks for a job well done. Finally some pertinent questions.
those interviews from each intervenants were very impressive, the people that were choosen for each part of the new car,are not there"by hazards"!!!
I LOVE the tail lights!
thanks for the response. My cousin owns a 07 zo6 and drove it across country(virginia to cali) and averaged 26mpg..Like I said it depends on how you drive it..
Great interview/video.....thanks Car and Driver

Great report. I can't wait to test drive the C7 when it comes out.
i cant wait to see this beast on the road
you're right!!..........as far as sports cars, I never really wanted a Corvette.....but this STINGRAY......yeseeerrrreeeee!!!!.............I WANT ONE!!!
car is absolutely beautiful. masterpiece
good questions from the host.. FINALLY!
I have a 2007... Think I will wait to see what they make on the higher performance model and then make a decision. I definitely like what I see.
a dominating step in the corvette chain of life i believe with the advancements that are put into the car and keeping it at a reasonable price the corvette will remain the top watch and loved car of america. i have loved and followed the corvette since i was a young child and it will also remain my favorite vehicle made no matter the changes and advancements negative or positive. i love the new corvette and the way it is made in the full view of each aspect of the vehicle keep it up
if it was up to me ill buy the red one..i love the way the black inserts look on the back with the red paint
That car show was amazing, i went today and the corvette is a beauty. but there are a lot of sleek concept cars there
I have purchased a 2017 grand sport new. My last corvette was a 2008 Z51 manual. That car was given to my son. Both vehicles are fantastic, but our new grand sport is by far the better car of the two in every way. THANK YOU GM ENGINEERS.KEEP SMILIN bill & Wendy thompson
AWSOME! this car looks bad ass wish i could drive because i would definetly own one
Outstanding love the new look. I have to say I have been very impressed with the new styling GM has been putting into all it's brands.
It's about time. Finally an interior that actually looks like it belongs in a 40+ grand car. I have already driven the car in Gran Turismo 5 and i have to say its a lot of fun., Really a great car. GT 5 gives a realistic driving experience
I'm curious about the aluminum frames integrity and the weight of the engine. Wouldn't it be front heavy.
Really not a GM guy, but this new Vette is beautiful. I would definitely buy this.
amazing video thx u really for posting it i enjoy every bit of it
We used this car in our last shoot! nice
I would have no problems choosing this car over a BMW E92 M3, I can't wait to see the reviews!
This will be a hit for Chevrolet... Running at 4-banger mode on the highway, VTEC, and light weight sounds like a winner.
Great tech coverage for the car.
Problem is, the video title is 100% misleading: The C7 was NOT 'Tested' in this video.
great editing! good video in general,
this guy did a great interview!
Despite having design cues reminiscent of other modern sports cars, this can still be declared the best looking Corvette EVER!!! GM has so far improved in every aspect of the Corvette. All that's left to do now is wait to see those numbers.
Nice wheels, the new corvette looks awesome!
The GT-R is a front engine car with half the engine size of all the cars of brands you mentioned yet it is still a highly regarded and respected sports car/ super car
These guys are amazingly well-rehearsed. That's the biggest takeaway.
Perfect video, great work!
very cool car..Corvette is the true American sports car..great styling, fun to drive, excellent performance, good highway gas mileage. C7 will be my third Corvette when the convertible version is available..can't wait..:)

We saw this driving around in Downtown Royal Oak last night!
i saw it yesterday at the Detroit Autoshow, it was one of the sexiest cars there, besides the R8 I saw
yes, i get your point. small engined turbo cars (especially awd) are the wave of the future and cars with big v8's are dinosaurs.
great car and glad to see the c7 looks beautiful. I was nervous when I knew the c6 was announced itd be discountinued.
Anxious for a first complete test.
Simply AWESOME!
The more I look at this car, the more I like it. That's a good sign.
Best looking Vette since 1982!
@yoink4 I agree with your point concerning the new but I think you really missed it concerning the Cadillac line. The new Cadillacs are gorgeous.
Did they release base price numbers? Scared to findout, but need to.
this is going to be epic
To be honest I was trying to push your buttons, i expected you to go on a rant after that. but since you didn't you have gained my respect for your opinions. you appreciate cars, and i don't really have a passion for them. I agree Android... The tail lights also in my opinon resemble the camaro tail lights.. but overall a beautiful automobile
Wow.. I'm in Love!!! And its still good old USA made..
Congrats on producing such a beautiful machine. Haven't been excited about Corvette since early-to-mid 60s. So then, that said, who do you have introduce it properly considering that Dinah is no longer with us...?
Phenomenal Job Corvette!!! I love it.
I was thinking the same thing when I heard that. You are correct.
I want one , How much more power do you get with a supercharger?
Any ideas if the C7 is going to have a series similar to the C6, I mean different variants like Z06, ZR1, Grand Sport?
Many sports cars have all wheel drive to assure power gets to the ground. Please comment on why the covervette does not have all wheel drive. Great Car!!!
True, i love the look of the c7 but once i heard someone ask if it was the new Viper, i realized how similar they are as well haha
i like this corvette, i rarely say i like corvettes... but she's purdy!
The tailight comment was an understatement. The aftermarket is probably tooling up to make a retro kit for them as we speak.
This is the best Chevrolet Corvette ever, very good designed, can compete with the best, for a reasonable price.
This looks very nice cant wait to see it in person.. Don't really care for the back of the car, but the car does look great. I know what im going to buy next year.( Want them to get all the bugs out first) and i can't wait
Is there a continental kit option available?
my second dream car
i love it, just wish i had the money to buy one, good job to the guys at GM
Much respect to you for this comment. Well said. :)
Finally, a Vette with a worthwhile interior(electronic e-brake notwithstanding)and a steering wheel that wasn't lifted from a Cobalt.
Love this car! Great article.

Just bought Camaro ZL1 for my husband. Can't wait for my Corvette. So hurry up with production so i can buy mine!!
A large improvement on the quality of the interior cockpit.
