The EQS isn’t a great design sadly. Talked to an MB dealer recently and he said they were quite disappointed by it. Personally I don’t like the outside of the BMW either, but the interiors seem quite nice in all of them.
No way! Small world Mr. Zollo haha and I agree the exterior design of the Mercedes EQS and BMW aren’t very pleasing. I’m actually an Audi mechanic up here and I prefer their designs for electric cars and petrol cars, also have found that MB quality doesn’t hold up in day to day life and certain BMW products as well. Also I’m pretty sure my dad Randy is good friends with your dad! Praying all is well from Syracuse!
Fantastic review. Very detailed and informative. The 7 series/i7 might not be the most elegant shape when you first look at it, but after a while I'm finding it more interesting. The A8 looks good too. The EQS looks like it is melting! BMW's interior also knocks it out of the park, very original and inventive (but I wish BMW had used buttons for climate controls). But all are great cars.
The i7 looked seriously impressive...meanwhile I'll contact my local mg dealer to test drive an mg4. 50:50 weight distribution so I'll try and imagine it's an i7. Really enjoyed the video.
I personally like BMW's approach to EV's: One car; you decide whether it's ICE or EV. No reason to make such a big deal of it. (And no reason to make you drive something that looks "forced futuristic" just because you chose to go with the EV.)
I went on a Thanksgiving day trip with my cousin. He has a large Infinity SUV with a rear view camera displaying on the entire center rear view mirror. I sat behind the drivers seat and had a good view of said mirror. The mirror drastically reduced glare from cars behind, but the thing that amazed me was that you could not see your own reflection in the mirror.
I've used the BMW i7's backseat theater. It's a gimmick. It's an expensive gimmick. It's really cool however. I wish Mercedes had more to their backseat, but the dual headrest monitors are just as functional. Mercedes is more comfortable for me up front and in back.
I like the format, although I skipped from the intro to the summary because that was enough info for me. Maybe publish both a marathon and the summary so people can choose?
The S-Class get my vote, the evolution style of Mercedes is very elegant and Mercedes Stance is always aggressive enough and pleasing to the eye. very happy with the suspension the ride is magical, love the standing star. Mercedes has to find a balance between the screens. analog buttons are still important to driving. the future is still far off, the lighting is a little too much in the interior, but the Mercedes takes my vote with the Audi 8 a close 2nd.
Great comparison, I enjoyed it! I personally like the BMW the best, however I am shocked at how many compromises you would have to make in this price league. I certainly wouldn't choose one of these models. In this price range, to accept the ergonomics of a French model from the 90s would be ridiculous. Germany is not only shooting itself out of the game in soccer.
Horrendous Christmas tree lighting with digital video game interiors. Sitting in these things at night feels like walking through a seedy neon light district in the wrong part of town. How I miss the simple jewel-like interiors of older cars, with tactile switches, buttons and analogue dials!
I just saw the 7 Series today in the flesh for the first time and it immediately put my worries to rest. I had a hard time coming to grips with the styling in fotos and videos. Also, on a side note, if you think about it, the first 'split' head light BMW was the E31 8 Series. The biggest difference was that the mains sat on top and folded down. But, the new split head light design is very far removed from that style. Anyways, great review - as always.
Thank you for this great review/comparison, Thomas. I really appreciate your professionalism in the way you do your reviews. I have owned Mercedes (several), Lexus, Audi and now own a BMW and the BMW is the best vehicle I have ever had. I was so relieved at the end that you selected the BMW as your first choice for a new vehicle!
It's like watching 3.3 hrs of Avatar for Cars haha, I'm in love with the S-Class for sure. All great cars and great review as always. Thank you Thomas.

Thomas, fantastic but I am just 30 minutes into the video and I have to say the technology on today's cars seems very cumbersome, and I am a bit of a tech user. Yesterday, I watch a video by a UK EV dealer that demo'd the parking assist on Tesla Model S and 3 including AP1 v AP2 Audi E-tron GT Ford Mustang Mach-E and BMW i4 M50 , both parallel and horizontal parking. Tesla failed miserably with the AP1 performing better than the newer S or AP2, all cars had some issues. BMW and Ford were the best. But the frustrations on measuring spaces, interruptions from pedestrians, car park columns etc was that it took three or four times as long as normal to park and you ended up possibly stuck out in the road not totally parallel etc. (this was a dealer trying to sell them), anyway, a recent study showed old manual buttons are far safer and quicker than current digital processes being deployed by manufacturers. The technology has to be helpful, I have a wife who has dementia and grandchildren who need supervision. Now in case you think I am just an old winger, I have owned from new a 1998 E38 740iL and covered over 300,000 klms. Only on a few occasions have I sat in the back, or chauffeured anyone. I have two 10.5" tablets mounted to the dash with a Resler iBus interface and Apple carplay including wireless charging, wifi and bluetooth. My E38 drives extremely well and I see little new that excites me in today's car offerings. Yes lots of extra horsepower and torque but with road limits and safety concerns who needs that really? I will finish your video but initial impressions are that the tech has to be natural to use and helpful, you have to expect children and people with dementia or other issues will hit the buttons and test the system in ways you never dreamt of, and at the most unexpected time, just like your friend brushed the door release. But well done. I'll add further when I have viewed the complete video.
@@autogefuehl I have now viewed the full video, very in depth and all very interesting - I like the energy consumption comparisons, including the drain up hills and the impact of winter weather, and your take on the comfort and ride features. It wasn't clear whether any of the cars actually carried a spare wheel or even a skinny recovery one. Again sometimes this design over practicality, if you're in the Australian outback you have to be self sufficient and you need a spare, a lot of people carry two. And I thought of two other technologies that need to be easily disabled, probably permanently - start/stop fuel buttons and lane assist, nearly either been wiped out due to them or possibly could have killed a cyclist due to the lane assist. Looking forward to more great reviews. 👍👍
1. Nice job BMW… always loved the performance, but the 7 “ still looks like a bread box , the door treatment, intrusive monitor, and disco lighting make a pubescent interior imo. 2. Audi ..please catch up. 3. The Maybach , EQS, and S-CLASS are simple daily drivers ,with just the right mix of style , tech, and performance. Carry on .

Does the center rear view mirror turn into a rear view camera, if not it would be useless when the TV is down. Also ,I always wondered if when the front passenger seat is all the way forward so that the rear seat passenger can recline, does that block the driver from seeing the right rear view mirror ?
1:02:54 this is all about safety rules to make it less dangerous for pedestrians. We really have to stop piking at car manufacturers for plastic front end 🤷♂️
I mean, the front view and some of the nasty interior solutions like the door screens kinda ruins it... Plus the S-Class and A8 Im quite certain are better tuned as luxury/comfy cars. BMWs always makes their cars too busy suspension wise (all fine when going over one bump but when you get to a really broken road with loads of small bumps the car just ends up shaking in all directions trying to find its pose) and their transmissions too hyperactive.
@@AI-qd4vb If you actually like cars, you would find the i7 is as interesting as It's competition. It's not bad at all, the front fascia may look childish to some people, but me personally, I think it looks way more appealing than the 2. It looks naturally futuristic than forced like the EQS. I mean we all know what happened to the G80 M3 and the G82 M4 design, at first glance it was overhated but we matured to the design. Doesn't deserve the hate, it takes time
Another 4 way comparison I'd like to see is C43, C63, 340i and M3 all new estate versions for each - maybe S4 and RS4 - rivals against each other and against the lite version of themselves - if that makes sense
Great and very detailed review as usual. Others are starting to copy your style. If I were to win a lotto, my ideal car will be s class exterior, s class ride, EQS hyperscreen, audi or BMW seat and a8 steering wheel. BMW offers the best seat in the business including non- animal seats. S Class shape is going to be timeless as usual and bmw shape is going age quickly as usual.
Great review once again, Thomas. I actually love the aerodynamic design of EQS because its not square like most old school Mercedes models. BTW please elaborate on the missing "heat pump" you mentioned in other videos. Doesn´t preheating / pre-conditioning deal with that?
Would never have though that they were later going to completely surpass the BMW E65 in utter ugglines when I first saw that car.. What a freak of a car..
@@redwhite_040 If you buy an MB without all the new tech stuff its also going to be super reliable. No big difference in total running costs or parts price between any of these cars.
Only Germans could try to market pleather seats as a luxury upgrade from leather 😂🤣😂 L.U.X.U.R.Y If Im spending this kinda money, we can breed zebras for pelts 😉
Audi's sedans gonna kill other luxury easily in overall why not in style power lux omg and one thing I want to share I thought just I'm thinking I'm the only one that just imagine audi upcoming market go crazy than bmw benz source through Internet
Audi A8 (even if they could avoid that heavy front grill...) Mercedes'es aren't bad either. BMW 7 Series is the usual design abomination BMW is famous for...
@@rg6982 Personally, I'm not interested in the wow factor if that factor is ugly. I prefer good design, which has precise rules, even if most people think it's _subjective_ ; taste is subjective, good design is not.
@@ArgoBeats well the futuristic of the 7 puts people off because they got used with the angel eyes and the small kidney grille, and the s class is the most boring here with super understyled design that only please kids, w222 elegance is unbeatable for an s class but the Audi is the most classy here imo

Carry on .
Mercedes sound Vivid Flux is time traveling to the future. I love it❤ with ambient lighting.
this car is objectively so amazing that it humbles me.
Interior A+ but exterior Team Ugly (although the front bumper looks good) side ways is a no go! Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry xmas 🎄
Red trousers are O.K/ 2 tone front of series 7 great!
Sir please between the 7series petrol / i7 electric which is better and more reliable and also faster
A year later, the MB EQS still looks like an automotive suppository…
7 makes the 8 and S look outdated. The EQS - I can’t even comment. Jelly bean on wheels. Ugh.
Looking forward to the facelift of the 7 when they figure out what styling to go with instead of trying them all at once
Haha. The S class is the best looking flagship sedan. The 7 is HIDEOUS.

Does the center rear view mirror turn into a rear view camera, if not it would be useless when the TV is down. Also ,I always wondered if when the front passenger seat is all the way forward so that the rear seat passenger can recline, does that block the driver from seeing the right rear view mirror ?
yes it does block the view then
About rear mirror, i gotta check next time. Afaik not
Real German comedian this guy . Very well done great attention to detail
cheers feel free to recommend :-)
1:02:54 this is all about safety rules to make it less dangerous for pedestrians.
We really have to stop piking at car manufacturers for plastic front end 🤷♂️
What about Genesis G90 and Lexus LS?? At least they stay on the road for 10 years without issues.
Sold. Where do I sign?I just need the money now 😁
What was the song 🎵 you were playing on the Mercedes????.
7 series wins all day every day
I mean, the front view and some of the nasty interior solutions like the door screens kinda ruins it...
AUDI KING
BMW 7 series always problematic
@@AI-qd4vb If you actually like cars, you would find the i7 is as interesting as It's competition. It's not bad at all, the front fascia may look childish to some people, but me personally, I think it looks way more appealing than the 2. It looks naturally futuristic than forced like the EQS. I mean we all know what happened to the G80 M3 and the G82 M4 design, at first glance it was overhated but we matured to the design. Doesn't deserve the hate, it takes time
It's gotta be a Genesis G90 for me
Love the night drive, for accentuating the experience.
👍👍
Скоро буду кататься на Exeed, жду не дождусь!
Another 4 way comparison I'd like to see is C43, C63, 340i and M3 all new estate versions for each - maybe S4 and RS4 - rivals against each other and against the lite version of themselves - if that makes sense
What watch brand are you wearing?
Love 💖 from India 🇮🇳
🙏
Is there a scent intensity option to reduce the aroma for the Mercedes? Custom memory for each individual passenger.
As far as I know, you can have a global setting for the whole vehicle about how intensive it is
Great and very detailed review as usual. Others are starting to copy your style. If I were to win a lotto, my ideal car will be s class exterior, s class ride, EQS hyperscreen, audi or BMW seat and a8 steering wheel. BMW offers the best seat in the business including non- animal seats. S Class shape is going to be timeless as usual and bmw shape is going age quickly as usual.
thanks stay with us !
I'll take a Caddy V Blackwing over all these no questions asked
Great review once again, Thomas. I actually love the aerodynamic design of EQS because its not square like most old school Mercedes models. BTW please elaborate on the missing "heat pump" you mentioned in other videos. Doesn´t preheating / pre-conditioning deal with that?
Cheers!
EQE SUV gets it now. So they ll soon retrofit the rest
U can see in the EQS part about the winter consumption
@@autogefuehl i hope they will. Thanks for the info
BMW 7 win easy here!
Wonder why Thomas didn't say that? 🤔
Because you fell asleep after that part of video, didn’t you 😂
If one is blind
@@nielosoweznaki no the s class is for people who look at boring stuff like a Tesla for example, hands down w222 is the best s class ever
🧢🧢
Red and black dual tone bmw ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Would never have though that they were later going to completely surpass the BMW E65 in utter ugglines when I first saw that car..
What a freak of a car..
No E65 is still worse and the EQS is the ugliest overall here
If i was to buy second hand i'de buy a Lexus LS Thomas. Actual quality, not percieved quality ;-)
Less stuff to break maybe. Older tech. But also less performance.
@@martinsvensson6884 at least it's super reliable compared to these German brands. When something will break down you have to sell your kidney.
@@redwhite_040 If you buy an MB without all the new tech stuff its also going to be super reliable. No big difference in total running costs or parts price between any of these cars.
the i7 looks like a Russian Secret Service vehicle.
Only Germans could have this attention to detail :)
Only Germans can nominate German brands for best luxury car or the world. Lexus LS should be there too.
@@redwhite_040 - LOL 😂the LS pretty much lost the game after the first gen ! It’s just another languishing model now.
@@dgdave2673 Maybe in Germany or Europe, Not in N-America, Middle east and Asia.
Attention to detail for what is visible and tangible. In mechanical and electric components Lexus is still the leader. They will work forever.
Only Germans could try to market pleather seats as a luxury upgrade from leather 😂🤣😂
L.U.X.U.R.Y
If Im spending this kinda money, we can breed zebras for pelts 😉
It’s strange that there is no option for laser light.
I will order M760e because in the EU we will not have 760i (and it is good for me- I have no cosidiration)....
Audi's sedans gonna kill other luxury easily in overall why not in style power lux omg and one thing I want to share I thought just I'm thinking I'm the only one that just imagine audi upcoming market go crazy than bmw benz source through Internet
The EQS side profile reminds me of Stewie from family guy
I will be your driver!!!
Although I think your on to something with that idea of enjoying that comfy seat!
😂
thanks
Does thomas wear an iwc big pilot?
The new i7 is the most exciting new car in my opinion.
The i7 is amazing
Audi A8 (even if they could avoid that heavy front grill...)
Mercedes'es aren't bad either.
BMW 7 Series is the usual design abomination BMW is famous for...
Boring Audi?
Dull Mercedes with same old design?
Atleast BMWs different and interior has the wow factor
@@rg6982 Personally, I'm not interested in the wow factor if that factor is ugly.
I prefer good design, which has precise rules, even if most people think it's _subjective_ ; taste is subjective, good design is not.
@@ArgoBeats well the futuristic of the 7 puts people off because they got used with the angel eyes and the small kidney grille, and the s class is the most boring here with super understyled design that only please kids, w222 elegance is unbeatable for an s class but the Audi is the most classy here imo
Which car dealer in California is selling the two tone bmw 760i?
Imo bmw looks good in two-tone, and bmw let others look outdated, so definitely bmw is the winner here.
A8❤
The 24:42 Karen impersonation. 👍👍👍
I love the Autogefühl AUDI gives me. No better...
😎
que lux vamos por el millon de vistas gracias ..........
I almost crashed 💥 into a car on the lot using that one pedal driving…😅
My bad 😂
BMW made sure this 7 series had a presence
dude is like 5 years old at heart. he probably still puts money inn the cookie jar
best for me is Lexus LS for reliability
