My 2014 C7 Stingray issues: Torque Tube @ 91K $$$$ YUCK! Serpentine belt tensioner. AC Compressor $$$ Leather dash cover shrinking and pulling away from edges after 3 years ownership $$$$ Fagetaboutit! The Radio/GPS system goofy...always. For a car costing almost $80k, I expected better and GM couldn't care less. Had none of these issues with my 4 previous newly purchased Corvettes. However, I do love the new mid-engine job.
Sorry to hear you have had issues with your first year C7. We always try and avoid first years of new models. We skipped the C7 generation completely. We just took delivery of our 2023 C8 (you can find that video on my channel).
So, the 2018 & 2919 ZO6, has larger Supercharger cooling bricks, thus the larger cover. Also 2019 has the upgraded cooling. ZO6 has the upgraded handling package. No limp mode with the M7 on the track.
Thanks for that info. I tried to focus on just the base models. There is so much info...the video could have been an hour long if I tried to cover everything !
Heat soak was fixed in the 2017 models. The years before GM offered an extra radiator and a few other things free of charge. Only if you track the car. The only time you’ll need it
Tom. Great video. Were there any transmission, suspension, or engine issues? The other day, I test drove a 2015 manual transmission Z51 with only 22,000 miles on it and noticed some rattling under the car on uneven pavement or small bumps, and then also rattling when shifting gears, any ideas?
There is software out there to add CarPlay to your earlier model Corvette, but I believe you will lose some of the features from your Infotainment system. I can't remember the details, but it is out there on the internet. You might be better off just using the apps on your phone as is and not setting it up to run through CarPlay. My car was equipped for CarPlay so I didn't run into that issue.
Wonderful video, thank you for the good work. I know I sound like one of those npc commenters but I’m an edgy honda boy and this is my genuine thank you
Beautiful car, sporting an aggressive yet elegant allure. I'd like to know whether the manually removable roof is an option or a stock feature on the Coupé, and I'd also appreciate to read of some owners' experiences about water leaks and wind noise possibly affecting the car in a few years from new. Thanks a lot for your answers.
The removable roof is stock on all coupe models. I have had 3 coupe models 1996, 2003 and 2007 (the one I am currently driving) and have never had leaking issues. The 2003 C5 we had for 8 years and 120K miles. Never an issue.
I read that the 2015 C7 Corvette is the worst year to buy of the C7 stingray series. It's riddled with issues and recommended to avoid from what I've researched. any other C7 year is awesome though.
I know there was this major debate about foot pounds or pounds feet but like I swear gear heads should know amongst themselves and just say foot pounds lol because pounds feet always sounds so weird.
You were talking about their wheels and tires on their cars. The one complaint I have about Chevrolet is there wheels and tires never fit their car. Even the new C8 and c8Z06 the wheels and tires are too small for the car. And the car looks like a four-wheel drive it's doesn't have the correct Wheel and Tire fitment. The wheels and tires should be flush with the fender and it should have the correct ride height to make it fully flush all the way around
LMAO And that is why you aren't a vehicle engineer. They are street and track ready and the wheels play a big part in the handling and getting the horsepower down to the street. When you have a vehicle that can out perform the C7 & C8 let us know because the wheels and tires play a big part in handling and performance designed and figurated by top engineers. Have you seen NASCAR, Formula One tires. They are made that way for a reason.
@@FindtheRightRoad I've got a mint 2006 C7 convertible, victory red, Z51 L3 that the owner took delivery from the corvette museum deal. I like so much, I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2014-19 c7 Z51 convertible.. However a better option may be to add a blower and headers and new exhaust to my C-6 at some point. Think a C-7 would be worth it?

You are correct DDG. Not sure if this guy really knows his C7 facts. By the way. How the hell does this car have Z06 taillights. I understand no-one is allowed to order clear taillights unless you are replacing your broken Z06 or ZR1 lights. GM will not send you them to put on a non Z06, ZR1 vette, not even on a GS. What happened to his fuel door release button?
I am aware I made a mistake about the PDR memory card slot. I admit that. I may try and correct that with the UA-cam editing software. The car had two noticeable changes. The tail lights (and I don't know where they got them) and the fender guards on the front fenders. But I would also point out...that the rest of my review I feel is accurate. Including the issues to look out for when buying one... Thanks for your comments.
@@FindtheRightRoad Not sure why that person is saying the clear taillights aren't allowed, I'm sure the car you showed got them from an aftermarket dealer, I know ACS composite sells everything for the C7 if you wanted to upgrade any exterior mods.. even EBAY has them...
How interesting... The PDR card slot for both my 15 and 17 3LZ Z06s was in the RH glove box and the one in the center storage by the USB slot was to play tunes off of. The overheating issue was exclusively an issue with A8 cars and corrected by a larger cooling and supercharger brick in 17. The Z07 package was not even mentioned. Why do people do these videos when they do not own one and clearly know very little about the cars. Nice try though as you are a pleasant guy to watch.
I chose to focus most of my video on non Z06 and ZR1 models on purpose since that is the majority of cars for sale right now. Sorry if I disappointed you. Thank you for pointing out my mistake about the PDR memory card slot. That was something I did not catch.
@@FindtheRightRoad No Worries mate. I had a 13 Z06 as well and that car was really fun. Feels different to drive than the C7 Z but not bad at all. Actually, my C6 Z felt more visceral and I loved it.
As I mentioned in the video, I borrowed the car from a friend. So I do as much research as I can...and then put a video together. I had not read about Torque Tube problems which is why I did not mention it. I know the Grand Sport and Z06 wheels of this generation have issues. I do not believe the stock Corvette wheels are prone to cracks.

Good cars. Trying to decide between the Corvette and the F Type. On looks alone, the Brit entry wins. There is more to a car as we know. Since I ride on the inside, that matters!
A fighter pilot friend made it clear to me at one time that HUD is for head up display. "Heads up" is what you hear just before you get beaned with a baseball.
Heads down or Duck! would serve you better in that case- 😅
I'm 6'6" and don't fit in the C7. I have a C6 Z06 and I not only fit but it's very comfortable. I had a 1990 ZR1 which I could drive but it was so uncomfortable that I didn't drive it much.
Great video! Thank you for sharing this
Great informative video thanks
Great video!
Thank you so much I dident know they changed the steering wheel
how about for the high mileage models, what mechanical issues should I look out for? what is considered high mileage? is a C7 at 90k at the end of its life or are there numerous repair items coming up?
@@hirovision also wondering the same about the ones with higher mileage, around 70k+ miles
Very helpful 🎉
I live in Phoenix Ariozna, my car would melt 🥲🥲 Great review though 😎

Yup. I made a mistake in this video. You are correct. We have a 2023...same situation.
Well done video 📹
Whichever one that’s got the economy mode is not for me I am retired and looking for a good used c6 or c7 with no eco mode currently I have two mustang GT 04 and a 14 payed for I want to add a vett to the collection or challenger with a hemi
The 2014 had a memory card slot in the glove box for recording your driving off the front cam
Thanks. That was an error on my part in the video.
@garystevens1044 So some 2014's have front cams? Thought that came later. When was 'valet' mode introduced?
I'm shopping for my first Vette now btw.
Thanks for the video it was awesome , What price is good for a used 2014 c7?
In your opinion.😊
Great information
You are a king sir
Thank you very much very informative video.
The only time you’ll need it
very helpful, thanks!
Tom. Great video. Were there any transmission, suspension, or engine issues? The other day, I test drove a 2015 manual transmission Z51 with only 22,000 miles on it and noticed some rattling under the car on uneven pavement or small bumps, and then also rattling when shifting gears, any ideas?
I am not a mechanic...so I will pass on making a guess what is wrong. Sounds like you should have a professional inspect it.
Regarding the CarPlay, can I update the 2015 version to make it run the CarPlay system or I need new one?
I think in order to add Apple Carplay, you would need to swap out the stock system for aftermarket...
@@FindtheRightRoad oh ok i will look for it in the internet, thank you and keep posting the good content 👌🏻❤️
@@Tubes12AX7k I bought 2016 one week ago and it got CarPlay and everything i needed 👌🏻

Awesome video 👍
Beautiful car, sporting an aggressive yet elegant

I'd like to know whether the manually removable roof is an option or a stock feature on the Coupé, and I'd also appreciate to read of some owners' experiences about water leaks and wind noise possibly affecting the car in a few years from new. Thanks a lot for your answers.
The removable roof is stock on all coupe models. I have had 3 coupe models 1996, 2003 and 2007 (the one I am currently driving) and have never had leaking issues. The 2003 C5 we had for 8 years and 120K miles. Never an issue.
@@FindtheRightRoad Thanks a lot 👍

I thought the C7 Z51 came with PTM as standard?
I read that the 2015 C7 Corvette is the worst year to buy of the C7 stingray series. It's riddled with issues and recommended to avoid from what I've researched. any other C7 year is awesome though.
I own a 2015 Z06 with no problems at all.
How about 2014 vs 2015 riddles?
Where did the front spat come from on the 2015 z51. I really want more protection
Not sure what you mean by "front spat"? Are you talking about the wheel fender guard on the fronts ?
Still overpriced in 2024. But I still bought a 2019 Z06. 🎉
Bad move. C8...

Is 31k a good price for 2014 z51 3lt automatic with a clean title and 116k miles?
No it’s fair tho
If you spend another 10k you can find newer and low miles.
This guy definitely looks like a Corvette owner.
What do the dreamers look like?
Thank you 🙏
I know there was this major debate about foot pounds or pounds feet but like I swear gear heads should know amongst themselves and just say foot pounds lol because pounds feet always sounds so weird.
Nice watch 😮
They are made that way for a reason.
you are way better than doug demuro !
THISSSS!! is the Corvette C7. It's got quirks and quacks and I'm gonna expose them all and then give it a Doug score.
Your right. I did this video a few years ago and as I look back on my early videos, I realize I was trying to be too much like Doug !

This premium car did not use a good $5 glue for the dash. C'mon man
Yo what’s the reliability on these? I had a Chevy truck and I would’ve gladly traded it for any shitty Toyota so I don’t have to turn car off during traffic jams from over heating

I got a 2014 mustang gt and I want a corvette c6 2010-2015 corvette theirs not much in my city
I want hear and see drivers not salesmen

Wheels on 2015 vette Z51 , are these wheels prone to cracks ?
You didn’t mention Torque tube problems ?
As I mentioned in the video, I borrowed the car from a friend. So I do as much research as I can...and then put a video together. I had not read about Torque Tube problems which is why I did not mention it.
I know the Grand Sport and Z06 wheels of this generation have issues. I do not believe the stock Corvette wheels are prone to cracks.

Why do y'all salesmen call it navigation. Why not just say it has a GPS. Does navigation make it sound uppity?
I'm just curious because I've noticed that all car salesman will say it has in-dash navigation but they won't say it's got a GPS. Because my phone has a GPS it's real simple they've had them for years. I just don't get it
Y'all salesmen? I don't sell cars for a living...
@@robd1859 GPS is the ability to uplink with the satellites. Navigation is the GUI that transposes that signal to a map on your screen.
Does the C7 have a heating steering wheel?
who gives a phuck? Seriously, go buy a lexus.
Mine does.
Why would you be driving a corvette when its so cold you need a heated steering wheel? Summer tires would probably need swapped at that point.
