I have a white/red 2014 convertible Vette...Its the best car I've ever owned! My two biggest concerns about buying a Vette end up being the two things I may like the most.Great variable suspension!Great gas economy in ECO mode!
Thanks, we figured that a new Vette only comes along every 10 years or so and there's probably lots of people who are interested in the car and the car's development from the head engineer.
Nice job, you and Tadge seem to have genuine chemistry together. He seems to like you and respect you and does not seem bored like he is talking and saying the same thing to the 100th journalist.
The greatest performance bargain in the world has just widened it's already substantial lead over the competition. Carbon Fiber, tech, lightness, great materials and 68 grand
The Corvette is a mid engine front mount. The engine is between the axles. It's been that way for a while now, the C4 maybe the last true front engine Corvette
This was a great review/video. I'm glad to see someone go so in depth with a new car, and talk to the lead engineers...... guess what, "The Fast Lane Car" has a new subscriber :)
Not what you mean but I think the C7 is like my FD with the engine behind the front wheels centers which is mid engine. They tested one in the 70 with a V8 and GM's massive rotary.
I tip my hat off. lot's of blood and sweat in terms of engineering as well as lot's of work with accounting and many other department's. this was a love dream made into reality a game changer with so much work in terms of material engineering fluid dynamics and weigt management. this car is top level and stands' toe to toe with any car porshe ferrari and skips past bmw and audi. I am not a gm fan but repect any brand that makes a good car and this car is a gift at 120k net alone one with the z51 package and a few upgrades for just 60k. 5k more than a bmw 335i for a way better more in line with a 911s pdk shich the vette beats and smokes a 911 manual. I am proud to see gm do this now tricle this effort to other cars like the malibu and not just cadilac and u will dominate.
I've loved all my corvettes. I hope ditching the signature "round" tail lights don't ruin the appeal of vette's look (again) like the ugly rounded square tail lights if the 90's.
I think they should have done angular polygonal exhaust tips to match the rear lights. Kept it part of a whole piece like on some Lamborghini's It would limit after markets muffler options though.
Great video! And a nice guy, really knows the car inside & out. I have a ZR1 that I'm in love with. I'm not crazy about the looks of this car. The rear facia especially. But I am interested in the electronic diff integrated into the suspension. This is the same equipment that way more expensive cars use. I'd like to get a look at an LT1 block. I don't see myself deactivating cylinders to often.
They figure that the EPA ratings tend to overstate fuel economy bad enough as it is. That number is really a fleet rating number and it wouldn't be accurate to score the fleet based on what it could do if everyone were driving around in ECO mode.
Just wait for a head to head video where the Vette smashes a boxter. I've seen the video you posted before, and the reason the times are so slow is because there is no traction. Any car will be slow 0-60 if you're spinning the tired for 20 feet. GM posted times are under ideal conditions, as are any other manufacturer's 0-60 times.
Hmm, considering the Stingray costs $51,000, and the XKR-S at $174,895, yeah i'm pretty sure it is! Obviously a car that costs more is the better one. Compare a car to the Stingray that is in the same price range, then we will talk.
Usually Corvette and Viper just focused on performance and not luxury. Notice both Vetts and Vipers are increasing luxury. Good thing they already have the performance down. Poor Ferrari had such bad performance they had to use General Motors MRC they designed for Cadillac's traction and suspension!
Delphi developed the magnetorheological suspension while it was not even a part of GM. Yeah keep on boasting about the same thing over and over again like everybody else. Just think about how many innovations the Americans use in their cars that were developed by European companies. The ZR1 uses the same carbon-ceramic brakes that the 11-year-old Ferrari Enzo has. The modern automobile itself was invented by Karl Benz, a German. If it wasn't for Europe, you'd still be riding horses.
thatabu Well, the 2003 Corvette 50th anniversary edition came out in 2003. And it had the MSRC shocks. According to the article at www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2011/03/31/gms-divorce-from-delphi-is-final/ Delphi was still part of them in 2003. GM owned. I used to work for GM.
The point is, the endless bragging about MagneRide is getting ridiculous proportions. It's as if you guys invented the wheel. There are tons and tons of stuff patented in Europe that are used in American vehicles. Most innovations in road cars have in fact been introduced in F1 first. As we all know, there is not a single American team in that motorsport.
Agreed, why would anyone buy a piece of crap Boxster or even Cayman for that matter when they are essentially the same price and new Corvette severely outclasses them in almost every way.
Yeah but then he doesn't like much that's German either. He makes fun of American cars, but he openly dislikes the German brands. I think he just knows how to relate to his audience well, and sells the humour.
My C5 has the same thing you're describing with the elliptical lights and tips. Came stock. That's a great observation you have. Personally I hate the 2014 exhaust tips because it looks like a cheap steal from the Camaro. For all the engineering they put into this, I don't get why they made that decision. They say you have to see before you judge it, however the C5 to me is a work of art. The interior is cheap, however the body looks like a $200K car and to me that's where they hit a home run.
My biggest gripe with this car is it still has less passenger legroom than the driver side. It seems like they would have changed that. You can't even have a girl in the passenger seat with long legs. If they gave it more legroom on the passenger side it would be perfect, but I guess Vette designers hate tall people?
i love how this car will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and is alot faster than the vehicle you currently own...lmfao. trolls....hahaahhahhahahahahahahaahahaaaaa
I don't get it, I thought they said the convertible was coming out a year later, Jay Leno has one, I'm thinking about replacing my current 4th Gen Z28 Camaro Convertible with it since they are the same style... don't care for the new Camaro Convertibles
This is the best car for the money and a lot of you don't like to admit it. I'm sold.
I love how excited Tadge Juechter is when talking about the C7. It's good to see car enthusiast running GM!

I love how you guys did this video long, packed with information. But not boring great job guys.
Nice job, you and Tadge seem to have genuine chemistry together. He seems to like you and respect you and does not seem bored like he is talking and saying the same thing to the 100th journalist.
The chiseled design and improved performance of the Stingray are exactly what was needed to invigorate the Corvette brand. Good video!
The greatest performance bargain in the world has just widened it's already substantial lead over the competition. Carbon Fiber, tech, lightness, great materials and 68 grand
I love the back end
Interesting and informative video. But some of the comments are beyond infantile.
I love hearing Tadge Juechter speak, he's so intelligent and passionate! :)
The Corvette is a mid engine front mount. The engine is between the axles. It's been that way for a while now, the C4 maybe the last true front engine Corvette
This video deserves about 10 million more views. What a comprehensive amount of information. Anyone wanna buy a kidney? I need a C7 Vette.
Great interview, I have gained even more respect for American engineering! I will have a Vett as my retirement car!
THIS CAR IS INCREDIBLE!
This was a great review/video. I'm glad to see someone go so in depth with a new car, and talk to the lead engineers...... guess what, "The Fast Lane Car" has a new subscriber :)
Looking forward to Z06! Thank you Chevy and Fast Lane Daily!
I'm definitely in love with this car.
Really awesome car the new Corvette C7 Stingray :-)
When Tage says the C7 is better than the C6, it is facts. Get over it, C6 fan boys. Too broke to afford a C7.
Can't wait for the new 'ZR1' and 'Z06' configurations!
I can't wait till the C7 ZR1 is out. I am VERY eager to see the performance on that bad-boy.
I can't wait to see what it runs in 2015 with the 8 speed auto(8L90)
i like gt-r's but the c7 with turbo and nos tune will be a fearless beast on the street
Great video guys, glad to see this car in and out!
It was a but long but watched it to the end!! Nice job!! Thanks!
Corvette 0-60 3.9, figure 8 23.9 at .82 g's, skidpad 1.11 g's, horsepower 460, mpg 29.
Boxster 0-60 4.2, figure 8 24.6 at .81 g's, skidpad n/a, horsepower 315, mpg 28
This car is a real trip to drive and now I know why... 4:36, forth one down
the whole thing seems very well put together the only thing on my mind now is Top speed
Very nice can't wait to get one.
Great coverage. Thx for the upload!

this is my new dream car!
I grew up with Corvettes. I now drive Porsche's. That says it all.
Mid engine is when the engine is behind the front/rear centerline of the car but ahead of the rear axle line.
I've loved all my corvettes. I hope ditching the signature "round" tail lights don't ruin the appeal of vette's look (again) like the ugly rounded square tail lights if the 90's.
Corvette=Best sports car in the world
Agreed
I think there supercars now
Excellent/lots of info in one video.
born and raised in the US but I like imports much better.
I can get a fully loaded corvette for the price of a moderate Cayman S...I love Porsche but the vette is true value of sports car
wow, just great video period...like no other
Great video!
What about the leg room difference of the C6 vs C7? Did you fix that?
I would b totally OK with the tail lights if the tear drop effect could be minimized by painting the extractors the same color as the body. . .
I think they should have done angular polygonal exhaust tips to match the rear lights. Kept it part of a whole piece like on some Lamborghini's It would limit after markets muffler options though.
Wow, at just 1000rpm, you're already getting 300lbs of torque! 20:50 minutes.
Great video! And a nice guy, really knows the car inside & out. I have a ZR1 that I'm in love with. I'm not crazy about the looks of this car. The rear facia especially. Another typo at 23:25 45 *mm mono-tube shocks. Come on, guys, the C7 deserves more than this.

thatabu Wasn't Delphi a subsidiary of GM? Pretty sure they were.
No, at the time they weren't.
thatabu Well, the 2003 Corvette 50th anniversary edition came out in 2003. And it had the MSRC shocks. According to the article at www.forbes.com/sites/joannmuller/2011/03/31/gms-divorce-from-delphi-is-final/ Delphi was still part of them in 2003. GM owned. I used to work for GM.

Yeah Jeremy Clarkson hated this car so much that he bought one and promptly chose it as the TOP GEAR car of the year (ZR1).
My favorite car!
awesome car.
The part at 21:00 is repeating a clip already used earlier on...
either way, cool video
I just had to laugh at "Gearing: Standard" at 23:50 lol. I know what they meant but it just reads funny
True .. ♥
also the c7 handles super for a FR car.also with mild tuning the c7 will be fast.
About time GM did something about those pathetic corvette seats. Wow what were they thinking all these years...
I love American cars!
Agreed, why would anyone buy a piece of crap Boxster or even Cayman for that matter when they are essentially the same price and new Corvette severely outclasses them in almost every way.
Brutal corvette, louco!!!
corvette monster
He didn't buy one he liked it in america but when he got it over hear he said it was a holiday romance and the audi r8 was alot better.
All the people who chose thumbs down, thank you , I'll gladly take the new Corvette you don't want! More for us!
I want one!!! When does it come out already, geeze it's "driving" me crazy
What is a "mid engine front mount"? Did you just make that up??
A little more what?? Can't wait to read this response...
The C4 is reborn! LT1, digital gauges, square(ish) taillights...
1. I do not like electric steering.
2. I wonder if Chevy will ever build a mid-engine Vette?
3. how much will jeremy clarkson hate this car?
There isn't one thing I would change but the PRICE :)
Dear Santa...
Clint Eastwood of Corvette.
i wish they put a dual clutch automatic in the c7
yes, he is right. and you are the tool, he said for turn in which is exactly why dynamic diffs are installed in sports cars.
componentry is not a word...
Z51 all the way.
so you passed on V8 thunder for a hair dryer?
I'm Canadian. I hate Porsche 911s and cars like that. I do, however like the Mustang. I've been DROOLING over this car!
The C6 still looks way better
9 likes 0 dislikes! way to go vette
Carbon fiber is great for weight savings and strength.
But I've always found it ugly to look at.
Concerning the lowering of the drivetrain warranty from 100K mi.'s to only 60K miles.....WHY??????????
what pary is this? im about to get a z51 and i dont wanna be in trouble with this lol
I wish I had a c7 stingray z51
Yeah but then he doesn't like much that's German either. He makes fun of American cars, but he openly dislikes the German brands. I think he just knows how to relate to his audience well, and sells the humour.
NOT EVERYTHING! I`m 6.4 feet high (195 cm) and i want to know, will i feet nicely in this car?
Corvette c7 is a beast with make up on
I see... So.. You passed on V8 thunder for a hair Dryer?

32 other car manufactures have been here.
i love how this car will do 0-60 in under 4 seconds and is alot faster than the vehicle you currently own...lmfao. trolls....hahaahhahhahahahahahahaahahaaaaa
but still give me the robot looking gt-r all the time.
Germans can just wondering about price cuz if they sell it will cost like a Bugatti but Bugatti doesn't have this thing too.
And it lost at Laguna Seca to the outgoing C6 Vette that had the same hp and torque.
At least you'll only see the back from what your driving...
Now all it needs is a TURBO!!!!!!
I don't get it, I thought they said the convertible was coming out a year later, Jay Leno has one, I'm thinking about replacing my current 4th Gen Z28 Camaro Convertible with it since they are the same style... don't care for the new Camaro Convertibles
