I recently bought an xc40 inscription , and am very pleased and satisfied with it, though pretty expensive. The problem is that, as with all cars, it very quickly becomes simply ‘the car’, and as a result one becomes blind to its advantages. I do not regret buying it.
Range Rover looks much more upmarket than the others, I'm surprised it's equivalent on price. The Q3 looks very clinical, but that is typical Audi and not necessarily a bad thing. XC40 looks like a much cheaper car, but at least they've made the styling quite unique.
the Volvo XC40 hands down, overall ,the RR will have the usual warranty issues that they always have, just because you wrap it differently doesn't make it better, The Q3 if something goes wrong it cost more to fix than the other 2
Like all reviewers you did not mention the activity key, which is a great point in favor of the Evoque. Also you give power figures as if there is only 1 Engine varient available there are 6, up to 250 kw for diesel and 300 kw for petrol Also missing are the BMW X1/X2 and the Mercedes GLA. Even with those I think the Evoque is clearly the best.
Been adventurous with my XC40, definitely a fun compact SUV. Has the same presence as a Range Rover (especially the R-design with white paint) not to mention the reliability

Whelming videos like this do not hide the fact JLR is haemorrhaging money and has a terrible reputation for reliability in some models. If it has to be premium SUV, get a Macan. Destroys these three, and pretty much everything else on stilts.
The Range Rover brand isn't for people too tight with money, so leasing rates and maintenance isn't cheap. It sits at the same level as Porsche imo, and higher than other mainstream premium brands. But Range Rover is about luxury, while Porsche is about sportiness. Also the Evoque is at least 30 cm shorter if not more. More comparable to a Macan is the Velar, which looks much better than the Evoque. If you buy or lease new, you aren't going to have much problems with JLR. But true is Porsche tops in quality. I agree the Macan accelerates and handles better than it's competitors, however if you go for comfort, luxury and elegance, the Velar is much better. The Macan also has small boot. If you drive sporty, that may cost you in fines in most developed countries, you will lose your license quickly and have high insurance rates. Range Rover's approach makes more sense. Maybe something like a AMG GLC Coupe, SQ5 or a X4M is a direct competition for the Macan.
Evoque....just another JLR product reflecting it's form over function philosophy, small boot, poor ergonomics, still questionable build quality and reliability. XC40 is a really 'nice' car, and probably much cheaper than a like for like Evoque. The Q3? No mention at all of the sliding rear seats in the review, probably the most versatile interior space. Very average review that was leaning towards the 'pretty' Evoque from the start.

I am sure if you do a search on UA-cam you will see plenty of owners detail the issues with their Land Rover cars. I personally haven't owned a LR car as my mechanic warned me off them as he has repaired plenty of them. Hey I understand the appeal as LR are beautiful cars but their reliability is the stuff of legend.

I’d go Audi any day, the review is a bit bias in that an entry spec of the Q3 is compared to an upper end spec of the newer Range, buck for buck I’d go Audi any day, then the Range and the Volvo last.

Watch Car Wow and you’ll see how same class vehicles can be compared, from price (which is a big difference here), features, year of last release/update etc.. this review is bias in my opinion. I’d still choose Audi, it and the Volvo have better reliability after sales than the range.
In 2019, how are car reviewers still leaving out the massive elephant in the room when reviewing Land Rovers? This car will self destruct-not one time, but MANY TIMES, throughout its life... the other 2 will not. This fact outweighs any other, and renders all land rovers inert.
Massive. In the order of the test. Evoque most expensive, and about £5k more than other 2, about £2k in between Volvo and Audi. Comparing Evoque in SE spec, Volvo in R-Design Pro and and Audi in S-Line. Residuals also mean Evoque nearly £400 per month more expensive than other 2
when i was looking for a Suv for my wife i got pictures of all the cars xc40,fpace,epace,q3,x3 and the evoque my wife knows nothing about cars but she does know about fashion and she picked the Evoque over all them cars i go with the wife Happy wife happy life :)
I`ve just bought my 3rd Evoque. Never had an issue . If they are so bad, why have they the best residual values after 3 years. Evoque`s are not your over complicated high end range rovers.
I don't know, but it seems like apples and oranges to mee. At least here in the Netherlands the Range rover Evoque is at least 20.000 euro more expensive than the XC 40.
Volvo and Audi can’t even get close to the Evoque’s 4x4 capabilities. LR’s Transmission and suspensions feature a far superior and expensive design, on top of that the car is watertight up to 50/60 cm, maybe more. The Evoque’s disconnect system only is worth 1,500 euros. Why he’s missing to say that? On the engineering standpoint the Evoque’s is another league. And I might be wrong but I am not so sure Q3 and Volvo are made in Europe. LR is still made in UK.
I have been an Audi fan for quite a while, but they really have lost all sense of direction with their styling now. This Q3 looks dreadful. As does much of their SUV range.

I wanted to buy the Evoque but it's just unreliable. I went and bought the XC40 T5 INSCRIPTION instead and it's brilliant...except for when you take it off road. Happily I and most drivers will likely stay on tarmac 95% of the time.

I never understand why car reviewers only mention the bhp of diesel engines, when it's the torque that matters, particularly in an SUV.
That's always got me. I mean a lot of these get used for towing caravans and the like and torque is what you need for that.

In my opinion, the Volvo's exterior looks much nicer. And it weighs about ~500 lbs lighter with the same horsepower.

Who actually takes an Evoque off road? I bet no one in the real world! So the only advantage an SUV has over an MPV is height.
