My dad had pre-diabetes and ask the doctor if that was a concern. He replied with "nah, eventually everyone gets high blood sugar with age". This lead to diabetes of course. My dad was sick of the weight gain and daily insulin injections. I told him to start by cutting out sugar and carbs. Well, within 3-4 months, he lost a ton of weight and he is no longer diabetic. The medical industry is clueless

    these destroy kidney function :
    1 high blood sugar,
    2 chronically high insulin levels,
    3 uncontrolled high blood pressure,
    4 taking anti-inflammatories on a daily basis,
5 consuming Tobacco in any form,
6 drinking too much alcohol on a continuous basis.
7 eating or drinking a high oxalate diet.
Thanks so much for all you and Neisha do.

I've been diagnosed with stage 3 ckd last year, and doctors told me to stop exercising and eat plant based cauliflowers and stuff, no meat, no salt etc. And with months my blood results start to come out even worse everytime. This year at one point I stopped their recommended diet and gave up. I started eating meat similar to keto but that defined, low on carbonhyrade high on protein on a casual level, started light exercises walking, swimming, yoga level and my last blood work came out way better than when I was following the so called renal diet.

I know you posted this comment about a year ago but if you have the time, I’d like to hear how you’re doing. I’m stage 3 CKD and nothing has helped! I keep being told by Dr’s that carnivore diet will cause my proteinuria to get worse. I’m overall healthy. No other issues. I was just born with urinary reflux that caused kidney scaring and pregnancies made it worse.

@kaygisizmert @Natalieholsinger6571 ... my step-dad went into kidney failure due to a medication he was told he needed for a whole year. At the end of the year I was so concerned because he did not look good and felt the need to be near a bathroom at all times. He too was given a kidney dietitian.... but he didn't follow her instructions. Instead he eats keto carnivore and to his doctors surprise went from stage 3 to stage 2 kidney failure. He has been eating this way ever since. He eats some vegetables and on occasion he still has ice cream.

My Dad doubled his kidney function when I got him eating a keto diet. (Low carb/sugars, high healthy fats) His nephrologist (in Missouri) was *thrilled* and baffled at the same time. He'd never seen such a reversal before. He asked what my dad was doing so he told him keto. The doc said he was definitely going to share this info with others. I was so proud of my dad for doing it and teaching a doctor this valuable info that could improve others' lives & save many from suffering needlessly.

I was diagnosed with second stage kidney disease. This shocked me because I had no idea what caused it. I did some reading and research and found that Wellbutrin, which I had taken for years, can elevate creatinine blood levels. I gradually went off the Wellbutrin and my creatinine levels completely changed with no sign of kidney disease. When I reported to my nephrologist what I found out and did, she got angry and practically threw me out of her office. (?????) I got over this as I had "cured" myself.

Love your work Dr! 11 months ago i was morbidly obese at 130kgs (286.6lbs). I had so many chronic symptoms: kidney pain in the morning (toxic kidneys from being pre-diabetic), fuzzy vision, heart palpitations, chronic inflammation, achilles tendinitis, knee arthritis, swollen prostate, dermatitis and the list goes on. I started keto and intermittent fasting OMAD (one meal a day) and within just a couple of months all my symptoms started disappearing. Now 11 months later i have lost 25kgs (55lbs) and slowly dropping as i have hit a plateau and i feel like i'm 20 again! I'm 44 years old. ALL....i repeat, ALL my chronic symptoms i was having are LONG GONE!!! My fasting glucose went from 6.5 to 5.2! My A1C is within normal levels and triglycerides are 0.7. My blood work has never been so good, ever! I am so fit and healthy that i've never felt like this before. I ride a mountain bike and i do up to 80kms (50 miles) on a ride. I will NEVER go back to carbs and sugar and grains! They are literally POISON for your body! Over time not overnight. Of course i have my cheat days but they are far and few between. Because i don't feel the need to go back to my old diet. Sometimes i just want to eat a pizza or Korean fried chicken. But because of the shift of balance i have created for my body, it has almost zero impact on me when i eat pizza or other unhealthy things because it rarely happens. It's all about balance....and i have strongly shifted my body's balance to the healthy side! Dr. Ken Berry, i thank you from the bottom of my heart for making these videos to educate people around the world and get them healthy! We need to shift our cultural beliefs and get back on the healthy horse! Cheers from Australia.

If you want to take a natural anti-inflammatory, take turmeric! It's miraculous. For my arthritis, I started taking 1 tsp in cold water with a pinch of black pepper for absorption. It's kind of bitter but you can use some stevia. Try to use organic. If you don't like the powder try Qunol 1,500mg capsules. It's kind of pricey but has no taste. Wish I had taken it a few years back when my German friend recommended it to me. I'm very sensitive to meds so couldn't handle the anti-inflammatories that my doctor prescribed. Thank God for turmeric!

I can attest to this, because I work in the medical field. In regard to western medicine, the physicians do not want the knowledge, and they do not wish to impart this knowledge to their patients, because they know it’ll put them out of business. Their goal is to continue the ancient way of thinking so that they can keep their patients alive but ill enough to continue to return to them for “treatment.”

This May I got re-tested and my A1C was now at *4.8* . No drugs. Very simple and painless. My plan: Cut sugar, bread, white rice, alcohol, and even pasta and potatoes, and then see what happens. I didn't starve myself either. Used to eat once a day. Now 3 to 4 times. Best if within an 8-hour window. 70% of the job relates to the "spoon." 30% is increased activity. I am an RN with a master's degree in nutrition. I can attest that all these things were taught in nutrition classes in the 1990's. I believed all these fallacies until I began researching keto diets a few years ago because I was becoming obese and no amount of calorie counting helped and I had several patients who had lost weight and become healthier on keto. Tracking down research articles and framing searches for the correct topics can be an arduous task, so it was taking a while. Then I found a treasure trove of research articles (this channel) that were right on point!! Thanks Dr. Berry! In the last year I have lost 70 pounds on carnivore. My ulcerative colitis has been silent, my eczema is getting better. I tried adding a few keto-friendly home garden vegetables over this past summer, but I had problems with regaining weight, eczema got worse in spite of spending more time in the sun... How can we find an enlightened medical doctor such as yourself Dr. Berry? I so love listening to your common sense as well as your practical experience with trying to heal the root cause of disease. Since hitting Medicare age, my only options seem to be the typical managed care systems available to people over 65. I follow you and a couple of other Internet doctors to become more empowered to take my health back. Medicare does not recognize naturopath positions, so when I sort through all of the MDs in my area, I haven’t found a single integrative medical doctor. Keep doing what you’re doing. We need you 💕

My grandmother lived until she was 94.. he died of "no particular disease or problem, her body just wore out," according to her physician...
She ate all the things that so-called "experts" said were bad for you... Growing up and living in the Depression Era, just about everything was cooked in lard or butter, and they ate cheap -- organ meat and made meals such as Liver & Onions and Scrambled Eggs & Brains, and Fried Chicken Livers and meals made out of hamburger, like Meatloaf and Chili.
When we visited, she'd cook our favorites, Fried Chicken and Country Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy (from pan drippings), Fried Corn, Fresh Green Beans cooked with a wallop of Bacon Grease, and fresh Salads with homemade Roquefort (Bleu Cheese) dressing...
She loved her twice or three times daily Coffee, and sipped all day on her favorite diet drink, Tab, and enjoyed a few Bourbon & Coke's for daily Happy Hour, and smoked cigarettes till she was 80.
One thing she never ate was "Fast Food" or deli meats (other than KFC or Chinese Takee Outee when she got too old to cook for everyone)..."They were too expensive to waste money on," she'd say...
So, I know where I got my eating so-called "bad eating habits" from, and I'm healthy with low BP, now in my senior years.

Hi. Dr.Berry. I am currently dealing with CKD. My EGFR is 31. I was on several diabetes medications-Metformin, Rybelsus, Tresiba, NovoLog Recently, my diabetes doctor stopped metformin. I stopped Tresiba on November 5,2022 and started intermittent fasting. Also, almost cut out all carbs. This is tough. However, even though I’m not doing the insulin my glucose readings
    have been good. Today, I
    Stopped taking the Rybelsus.
    I’m basically doing research
On myself. Documenting everything to report it to my doctor. I will see what she says, and how I do. So, good fats and proteins are what I’m eating.

I am now a member and so far no luck finding someone to ask... Six days ago I was in ER with heart palpitations for the fourth time in about 18 months, and right now one more day on a 7 day heart monitor. I don't think it has anything to do with my being on strict 100% Carnivore Diet (CD) for 33 weeks so far. I was 280lbs and all metabolic syndrome issues and diagnosed CKD about 2yrs ago. My blood lab in December was amazing in many ways. My cholesterol was all normal first time in 10 years! I was also 33lbs less and kept it off, but for several months now I vary between 30 and 38lbs and haven't broken that barrier for some reason. In December my doctor said blood lab shows I no longer have fatty liver. Wouldn't I have to have a liver ultrasound to really know that? I was diagnosed NAFLD in 2004. I'm 69 and my blood lab six days ago, and I'm trying without luck to get through to someone in the membership area as in two days I see my doctor for follow-up. I never told him I'm on CD. He was also impressed by my December blood lab. The ER doctor was concerned about my kidneys my Urea Nitrogen 38.1, Creat 2.26, Calcium 10.5, nonfasting glucose 117, GFR Estimate 31, Troponin T High Sensitivity 23, TSH 6.7, Hematocrit 54.2 The problem is I'm afraid he's going to tell me not to be on CD. Why does this look bad for my kidneys? What did I do. I have zero, alcohol, cigarettes, caffeine... Is it in my case I can't be on Carnivore Diet (CD)? Thanks Dr Berry and staff for all you do for humanity!!!

@@soniasias6226 That lab was when I was in ER. My Internist as usual never really responded when I had been in ER and the ER doctor said I should do a follow-up with my regular doctor. So I think maybe he said as he usually did that I was most likely dehydrated. I looked it up and my Troponin T High Sensitivity: A level of 23 ng/L means I had some heart damage or heart attack but nothing like that was said to me then and I don't know why and I don't know to what extent that was a high reading or not. Also not sure exactly when but not long after I joined Dr. Berry's website, and I've been a member for over a year, the moderator in the forum said to contact Dr. Berry's wife. I think her name is Neisha. She said it was beyond her knowledge as a nurse and to contact Ken. I did and he never answered. I've been sedentary not riding my bicycle for about six weeks except yesterday for some important errands. For some reason my shoulder joints after six weeks doing physical therapy exercises don't get better. I had CoVid 4 times and I think or am worried I might have "long CoVid". Anyways... I've been too inactive and gained 4.4lbs. I'm now 244.4lbs. I think to a degree exercise can have a more minor positive effect on weightloss. I was as much as 286lbs before I started CD on 6-24-22. I've been very strict CD. I've basically kept 40lbs off. My internist quietly said "good" although a GI surgeon I saw about a hernia I have said I was of the 10% who lose weight and keep it off. He was very impressed and congratulated me. Thanks for your input. I have a low level of CKD and discovered it in my chart that patients have access to. Does medical staff keep a separate chart that patients don't have access too? Thanks very much for your input. Finally my heart quit skipping beats and with PAC's and PVC"s maybe about 9 months ago, so I don't know why I had a long phase of that. I again realize you have to be your own best advocate in this declining health care system. I knew that too from caring for my mother until she transcended and should have known better.

Sadly, many doctor focus on the wrong cause of problems. For kidney stones they focus on lowering calcium, which is near impossible and dangerous, instead of oxalates, which is easier and safer.
I had a great nephrologist that diagnosed me with stage 2 CKD and dangerously low Vitamin D levels. Upping my Vitamin D and Omega 3 source (fish oil) did wonders. My wife and I limited carbs and upped protein in our diet and we lost weight, her A1C dropped from 7.1 to 5.5, and she is not on diabetic drugs and my cholesterol and trigs are down. The last heart work up showed no signed of heart disease, unlike my father did when he was at my age.

UA-cam and the internet has opened the door to so much for me including being able to do my own research. Invaluable. Three years ago I had acute kidney injury and failure. I lost all function in one kidney from a rare benign cyst. After the unroofing and pyeloplasty I recovered a small amount of function. Fortunately my right kidney is doing all the work, but it too has a cyst that could grow. Now I have MGUS as well. Hopefully the carnivore diet will help me get my health back as much as humanely possible. Started diet three days ago. Wish me the best. And thank you. At 73 I still fight to be healthy. I will not give up without a fight.

What I recognize and appreciate the most about your channel is your seemingly unbiased approach. You are a "Western Medicine" doctor and not a "Naturalist Medicine" doctor. This is very important to me that you are so often times going against the grain of a lot of your colleagues' mentalities, but without diving fully in like what a Naturalist does. Not to say that either discipline is wrong. Just the opposite - I know that there is a place for both and both should be taken into consideration. I'm just impressed that you yourself are thinking outside of your box and I always compliment a Naturalist that decides, "Hey, I'm really in need of a pharm antibiotic this time around. Consideration, moderation and open-mind towards something else. These are what work the best and I feel this in your words. Bodily healing is just as fluid as the body itself. Often times, our mentalities are not fluid at all. You are helping all of us. That is why I appreciate you.

Thanks, I needed this! After a very serious bout of pancreatitis (idiopathic)(hospitalized for 16 days, no food by mouth for two months) I have a very damaged pancreas. My blood sugar runs high, just below diabetes level. My kidney function was affected and I have a GFR around 60. I have since (after many years) gone very low carb to try to deal with this. My GFR got to 72, I was thrilled….but then, breast cancer surgery and NSAIDS for pain. In just three weeks or so my GFR dropped to 52. Never was I told to not take NSAIDS….lesson learned. Hopefully the next text will reveal higher GFR and a much lower A1C (was 6.2).
Have to say my doc was pretty good about it when I told her I was eating high fat and to expect my cholesterol to go up…it did, she said nothing…I consider myself a very healthy 65 year old woman…lift weights, walk tons and eat amazing food….I feel fan friggin tastic!

I did that and it was years before I felt I could eat fat and I have had no problems, the pancreas has since healed. Sadly the damage that was done remains but seems to benefit from low carb. Since the pancreatitis I was found to have developed quite a severe allergy to wheat and gluten, my favourite foods! Cutting that from my diet was the best thing ever, I felt so good. I now look back and think that carbs were the culprit to many of my health issues when I was younger.

Then someone from AA mentioned to me that stress and fear was a character defect and I could give it to God to remove from me along with giving up my resentments and my negative attitudes.

Dr Berry. Incredible timing. Was speaking with a good friend this week regarding his polycystic kidney disease, and how he should begin keto/carnivore. I told him I’d try to find one of your videos regarding this issue, due to the fact that his doctors have told him to be weary of meat and protein. This was Devine timing. Unbelievable. THANK YOU. I just sent this to him! You are the best!!!

Wary not weary. Weary means tired.
Divine not Devine. Devine is an Irish surname. Just trying to help 🙂

Thank you so much! There were so many things about my health that I found bothersome or curious when I thought I had such a good healthy diet. Clearly, that it was full of spinach, nuts, raspberries, sweet potatoes and wholemeal flour has caused me problems. Half way through your video, I did an hour of research and it was a revelation. I’ve comeback to finish listening to your post and to thank you. I had no idea about oxalates at all. Xx

Outstanding thank you again. I’ve been keto for about 8 months and my whole body has healed a lot. I was riding the edge of stage 3 ckd. Need to have a new blood test to see where I’m at now that my blood sugars and insulin have been in perfect control for many months

Awesome!!! My eGFR is 99 now! It was 70 a year ago before low carb, high fat, high protein.
