It sounds like you're blaming your doctor for your health issue and not blaming yourself. If you noticed foamy urine, what did you do to fix it? Changed your diet? Did some research? Take your health into your own hands. Good luck to you.

@@cluman1 I think Nan215 is trying to learn about his/her health, and that is the first step to helping your own cause. From what he/she said, it appears his/her doctor didn't try to help address the root cause. Not blaming the doctor, because that type of care is what most people expect. Many people think their health problems are inevitable and want a quick pill or procedure to fix it. Most doctors have adapted to customer demand.

I felt this was strange because there was never any problems with my eGFR in the past. I had recently started taking fenofibrate and thought perhaps that was causing the abnormal eGFR results. After discontinuing fenofibrate, my eGFR readings returned to normal and my kidneys are working just fine. Take them together with a diuretic (Lasix, HCTZ) and even worse, add one other common medication prescribed to "protect the kidneys" (a "-pril" or a "-sartan") and this combination has a high risk to destroy your kidneys.

Great HOMA-IR explanation!! That starts at the 11:30 mark. The key is to ask your doctor to include a test called 'Glucose' on your normal blood labs as well as a test called 'Insulin' so you can calculate your HOMA-IR which is showing whether you have Insulin Resistance and/or Type 2 Diabetes. Doctors are sometimes 'resistant!' ha ha to adding the 'Insulin' test to your labs but just ask them calmly and that you are interested in your own health. Dr. Ekberg explains it all really clearly.

My kidney disease was caused by a medication that I was taken for my diabetes. My kidney disease was discovered by routine blood test, that my Endocrinologist gave me. The Creatinine level was elevated (2.4). I then had a biopsy of my kidneys. The found scarring on my kidneys. I was diagnosed with stage three kidney disease. After I was taken off my diuretics, given a MRI; the doctors said the cause of my kidney disease was the medication I was taken for my diabetes. My Creatinine has stayed the same, since I was taken off the medication. Since this was a first for this medication, they doctor wrote a paper about this.

I love you health experts on utube who are educating us on diet and what’s needed to turn things around. I’m stage 2 fatty liver cirrhosis, was telling my doctor for about 3 years I was hurting in my liver area, he laughed it off, turns out I was feeling my liver go bad. Since then, in the past several months, I’ve been following and listening to people like this man, and I’m slowly changing my diet, I had topped out at 165, I’m down to 148 now, and I’m 5’3’ female, most of my weight now is in my mid section. I was also diagnosed as President- diabetic, a doctor on utube said, no such thing, you better change your eatting habits now because you are headed to insulin or metformin in a matter of time. Doctors can’t tell the truth all the time, goverment pushes unhealthy diet so we have to take unhealthy meds. So glad to be able to listen to these experts!

20 years ago, aged 53, I was (I believed) a healthy person. No obvious signs of any problem. But I went to my GP Dr because I noticed my ankles and feet seemed to be swelling through the day. The Dr's reaction was "Don't worry that's normal". Not being convinced I saw another Dr a few weeks later and he did a blood test which discovered my poor creatinine level. That was the only reason I discovered I had CKD. The Dr told me at the time, that my kidneys were 20 years older than they should be. It was border-line Stage 1/stage 2. I was prescribed tablets for hypertension of the kidneys. 20 years on I am on the same dosage, now in stage 3A but still no further symptoms, only edema in my lower legs.

I ended up with severe (stage 4) kidney disease due to a severe urinary tract infection. I didn't feel the usual symptoms of the UTI because I'm paralyzed due to a spinal cord injury, and I have no sensation below the level of my injury, so it snuck up on me and went systemic. Oddly, I don't have insulin resistance or diabetes. That could be due to my diet. I'm vegan, and have never been someone who eats sweets. One odd thing is that even though I'm not doing dialysis (I take meds which keep me alive, and which would be filtered out leading to my death if I did), my kidney functions have returned to near close to normal. My creatinine level has been measured at 2.0 for the last three times they have tested it. My doctor says that you can't reverse end stage kidney disease, but that whatever I'm doing, I should keep it up. As I said before, I'm vegan, and in addition I eat almost no processed foods. I pretty much make everything I eat from scratch, and I even grow some of my own food, including many of the herbs and spices I use. A lot of herbs and spices can be grown indoors. I even grow my own ginger and turmeric inside. The turmeric is super easy to dehydrate and grind in a spice grinder or coffee mill, and when you make it fresh like that, it tastes so much better than anything you can get commercially that there simply isn't any comparison.
But I digress. Another thing I do which might be helping is that I drink a lot of water. Since I'm paralyzed, I have to drink a lot of water to try to prevent UTI's. Drinking water is good for the kidneys, and also helps keep things clean. I live in a city where the water is particularly good, and where the city water supply comes from artesian wells. It tastes better than anything you can get in bottles, and it's not chlorinated all to the devil, and isn't fluoridated. It's just good sweet water which feels great going down.
I don't necessarily recommend my diet for others, but it has definitely worked for me. If you are in stage 4, and nothing else is working, you might try going vegan, not consuming much sugar, bread, drinking lots of water, and refraining from eating processed foods.
Keep in mind that my kidney disease was not the result of diabetes, and I have no idea what this sort of diet might have on someone with diabetes. Still, what Dr Ekberg is saying fits with what I've been eating all my life. I'm not going to be able to repair the damage to my kidneys, but I can and do keep the floors clean, and that has got to help.

Sadly mine was caused by chemo and radiation during cancer which destroyed my liver - my cancer too was genetically caused my doctor said - otherwise I have mostly been a pretty healthy person with a 4.9 A1c , no diabetes no BP nothing - now all this chemo side effects , radiation etc during my cancer caused all the problems I am going thru now , doc! So though I am grateful that the bigger evil which was the cancer was cured- I am trying extra hard and staying focused to reverse diabetes now which is also the cause of so many other problems , I now know! But thanks again for all your wonderful work - keep it up - God bless you always! 🙏🙏💖

@@drekberg We were taught that diabetes is proof of a malfunctioning pancreas that can not produce enough insulin. Our teacher, a nurse, said some people are born with a Hyundai pancreas and some people are born with a rolls Royce pancreas, you have to manage the potential you were born with by managing your diet and not eating too much sugar, in case you have a Hyundai.
This doesn’t contradict anything you are teaching but could explain the simplistic approach, where meds are prescribed because they think the insulin production is doomed.😮

I mix up some vinegar and potassium bicarbonate for my kidneys. The kidneys have to use up their own protein to deacidify the blood so I keep it slightly base to help the kidneys a bit. The vinegar itself has many good effects, I have noticed I have a lot less craving for carbs, and my mood is also enhanced.

My husband died of accurate pancreatitis and for four years he had been admitted to accident and emergency with abdominal pain and breathing difficulties and fast heart rate was what they said was the most common cause for heart failure in giving him medication for heart problems he was 67 years old when he first became ill and he was still working full time and cycling to work and suddenly he was unable to cycle and swelling in his legs and his hands were noticeable and several times in the middle of the night he was awoken up shaking and difficulty breathing and complaining about abdominal discomfort and back pain. He was given different heart tests and scans to determine what was causing his condition and decided to stop his heart and shock his heart back into a normal rhythm to keep giving medication every time he was sent home from hospital after keeping him for a few hours. February he took ill at home within two hours he was taken into hospital and he was shutting down his body temperature and he was in so much pain and his veins were unable to take any medication and fluids through his veins and blood tests came back positive for acute pancreatitis and kidney failure.he was rushed to another hospital for treatment and ended up on dialysis but died within 48 hours of his onset of his heart failure was supposed to be a primary cause and pancreatitis on his death certificate but he had all the symptoms of pancreatic infection is liver and bile ducts and gallbladder were found to be full of what they described as slug and they wanted to shock him back to life and place him in a induced coma and ventilator but I refused to he was 71 years old he had been told he would need dialysis for the rest of his life but he was already to far gone for to reverse the damage to his heart and other organs. He worked for 52 years in continuous service and was unable to enjoy his retirement due to his declining health due to what he believed was misdiagnosed. The different circumstances of different opinions of doctors in his case were giving him treatment for his heart which he believed was the result from his pancreas and liver problems and gallbladder problems which gave him abnormal pain and bowel issues frothing urine and frequent urine urges to put down to his age of itching and fevers and feeling cold and back pain which they gave him high dose ibuprofen rub and tubes to help with numbness and chronic fatigue which he kept falling asleep constantly for sudden demise of his general weakness and fatigue from his own weight loss and he said he was a dead man walking. He never had any health issues before he took ill four years before his death. Always fighting fit only to have a occasional day sickness in his entire working career and 52 years of work to suddenly get sick and diagnosed with heart problems that were subsequently discovered in being the liver and gallbladder system that led to pancreatic disease and death and painful death. The disease was showing all the signs that are associated with pancreatic diseases that were present from the onset. He didn’t smoke or drink and always had abdominal pain when a ambulance came to him in his home to take him to hospital for medical attention. I’m angry at the fact he deserve to be wrong diagnosis but failing medical treatment and the lack of proper medical assessment of treatment of his symptoms and not getting at the bottom of his symptoms and just going on his fast heart rate monitor to diagnose with a heart condition that was a result from what else was causing the heart failure.

I have no pain, haven't taken an NSAID in years. My inflammation is good, skin tags are gone, many back skin blemishes have just faded away. I've had the nighttime bladder alarm for decades that goes off every couple of hours or so and has been checked & tested by doctors and their answer is TB--Tiny Bladder. I have a physical every year, another in a month, and there's been no concerns about my kidneys.

For the last 10 years Kaiser said I had CKD because my creatinine levels were always in the 1.31 range. I think the highest was 1.50. What they didn't take into consideration was my body mass and the fact that I lifted weights 4 times a week. I also was on creatine supplement. I recently took my annual CBC test which showed a EGFR of 62 which again has been normal for me. All other kidney tests were normal range ie Uric acid..Bun. I learned about another test the cystain C blood test that is supposed to be more accurate in assessing kidney function. This test showed my EGFR was 88. I wish Kaiser would've done this test instead of me doing the research and paying for it.

NEED ADVICE: Ok, so I think you and I are on the same page. I got my blood test from QUEST DIAGNOSTIC. Here’s why:
I’m 38 and my egfr is at 89-91, approximately. Shouldn’t it be at 100? I don’t have pre-diabetes, clear urine, protein levels seem normal-along with sodium and pottasium. My vitamin D and b12 were high- along with my cholesterol and I’m low on MCV (anemic) but take iron supplements. My hemoglobin seems okay too. The thing is no one mentioned this to me till I started paying attention to my charts but I have been working out since about 31-32 years old so my egfr was the same, then. Am I at health risk? My creatine is at 1.09 and I weigh about 153lbs.

About 6 years ago my EGFR was around 30 and less. I started to remove all sugars, eat more meat - more keto - and just eating LESS. EGR went to 35, then 40 then 50 and then today 60! Mainly I started decocting Astralagus and Angelica root in vodka and also as tea in a pressure cooker. Still drank a lot of alcohol [evenings as a stress reducer from a nutty wife] but still, GFR kept rising. really amazing. I also took cinnamon, dandelion root an leaves in teas, and garlic fermented in honey. Always with the real herbs, forget the pills. My doctor is amazed and inquiring. FWIW I also started drinking only distilled water. Perhaps a factor after decades of TDS well water of over 300 ppm.

I had a severe reaction to a contrast dye used for a myelogram prior to a back surgery. It severely damaged my kidneys and caused chronic hypertension. The facility this occurred in did not tell me what had happened due to fear of s lawsuit so l collapsed from a brain bleed several years later. In hind sight, I had multiple signs and symptoms of kidney disease but the Doctors treated the hypertension as if it was arteriosclerosis and I had a horrible time with the drugs and have never been able to get down to anywhere normal. It is only through videos like this that I have managed to figure out what they did to me. Now that I have this information, I can form a plan to try and heal myself.
