Went to doc for check up. She praised me for losing weight and bringing blood pressure down. She said if I continue I can come off meds and she said to keep up the good work.
I told her I’m fasting and doing keto.
Got a ten minute speech on why keto and long fasting is not good.
I just listened and smiled, then came home to keep up my good work.
    Switching doctors soon.

Keto and fasting are not good tho. Just cuz you lost weight does not mean you did it in a healthy manner.

@@ISILENTNINJAI That is not a great reason to reject a great outcome -- (that it was achieved "the wrong way"). Just think about it. Band Buddy has reduced the risk imposed by hypertension. Reduced the cardiovascular and T2 diabetes risks caused by overweight. Probably improved blood measures. But -- Shock! Horror! There remains the giant problem of having achieved all that "the wrong way". Come on, man. The great outcome is a reduction in a bundle of risks.
      PS Well done, Band Buddy!

@@T-aka-T you are taking my comment way out of proportion. Keto works to lose weight but that doesn't mean its healthy. Why cut out all the carbs in your system and ingest a huge amount of fat when you can just eat a well balanced diet with healthy foods. No one is taking his succes in losing weight away from him. Im simply stating doing keto is not healthy which is not. Definitely healthier than being obese and having high blood pressure but doing keto is unnecessary to do so. Specially when it will negatively affect your hormones. You are the one being totally irrational as I never said he did it the wrong way cuz there is no wrong way to lose weight. I simply stated
The doctor is right to say that keto is not healthy. I think you need to stop getting butt hurt just cuz someone has a differing official than yours bud.

    • @T-aka-T
      @T-aka-T 3 роки тому +7

@@ISILENTNINJAI OK, I have slightly edited my reply to make it clearer and less triggering for you: the upshot is that this person's risks have been reduced, not added to. I am not "butt hurt" (whatever that means!) My butt is going great on ketovore. Further -- the brain PREFERS ketones over sugar. The only cells in the body that we know need sugar are red blood cells (they have no mitochondria). But the liver supplies that with gluconeogenesis. No dietary sugar is required. Carbohydrates are just "little rows of sugar holding hands" (Dr David Unwin) -- when you eat carbs, they turn to sugar in your body (a bad thing if you have a broken metabolism -- may be fine if you are a young gym junkie -- WHILE you are young). Where do you get the idea that keto affects hormones? I think you'll find it's the other way around -- indeed Neisha herself has Hashimoto's thyroiditis and controls it with ketovore.

A month ago my doctor wanted to put me on meds because my bp was 130/90. I told her no thanks I would do it myself naturally. I then took dandelion and magnesium supplements, stopped drinking alcohol, changed my diet to high protein high fat (ribeyes, salmon), walked 4 miles per day and now my bp is consistently around 115/78.

As a medical professional, I gently try to tell my clients (yes no longer are we allowed to say we take care of patients!) that if they’re interested, they should look into keto food plan. I don’t say diet, because it truly is a way of life. And of course, can’t give actual “medical advice”. And of course, the majority of people I see don’t want to hear about this anyway because they’d rather enjoy their body positivity and stay with their current habits. Little do they know that chf is coming their way.

Dr Berry: I really don’t know how to thank you. For my blood pressure I worked on my diabetes. I cancelled all breads, rice, dates and all carbohydrates except for oats. I will decrease oats and increase millets. My 1ac dropped from 7 to 5.6. I lost 3 kgs and my bp dropped from 150s-160s to 140s-150s. All this in a month. I also walk 5.3kms. Will continue and expect my bp to drop to 130s-140s soon. I am 73 and I used to take 5 diabetic pills; now I am down to 2 and expect to go to zero soon

Fatty liver is not from healthy fats in diet.
It is all from sugars and carbohydrates.
Avoid processed seed oils, margarine, shortening too.
Dr. Berry will give you lots of good general information in his videos to learn so you can improve your lifestyle.
Animal protein and healthy fats are needed.
Essential amino acids + Essential fatty acids
      But there are
      NO Essential Carbohydrates.
      Start with three meals a day;
Meat + low carb, non-starchy vegetable + healthy fat; eat until satiated and not hungry until next meal 4 hours later.
      No snacking.
After 2 months, you can lower 3 meals to 2 meals. This improves insulin sensitivity.
Meat (include eggs) + low carb, non-starchy vegetable + healthy fat until satiated until next meal. Try at 10 am and 4-5 pm.
Choose your time to eat schedule that fits with work & family schedule.
After 2 months, you can even do occasional OMAD.
      One meal a day.
You will have to eat until fully satiated. The rest of the time you fast.
See Dr. Berry’s video about electrolytes.
      No snacking.
Triglycerides show if carbs intake is too high, you want triglycerides low.
Do not focus on LDL or TC.
(Statins do NOT work, they worsen insulin resistance and diabetes and cause lots of side effects)
Testing lab inflammatory markers in blood will show progress as well as waist circumference.
Waist circumference at navel should be less than half of height (in inches)
Use a non stretch string; no sucking in gut.
This will cost nothing; good way to test at home.
You may initially feel fatigued especially if your previous diet was high in carbohydrates.
      Give it time.
This is best if you continue for life; it is not a quickie diet and go back to eating sugar.
You will soon become aware just how much junk food, sugar, processed foods other people eat.
Many of us found it even better if whole family in household join, so no crap in the house to induce cravings. Keep them out of the house.
      Watch all of his videos.
You will also find videos of other excellent doctors like:
      Dr. Paul Mason
      Dr. Richard K. Bernstein
      Dr. Mark Hyman
You shouldn’t have to pay for a diet; just eat healthy food that are not inflammatory.
      Avoid grains
      Avoid all forms of sugar
      Avoid legumes

Doc, I got a hypothesis. If you discover high insulin, check for high cortisol. The stress of high insulin, and how that disrupts liver function as well may be causing the release of excess cortisol due to the distress of the whole organism. Cortisol raises BP. Most doctors check neither. Glad you and others like you do.

I weight train 4 times a week and have a body fat % of between 10/12%.
At a recent annual check up, the Dr told me I needed to eat less and lose weight.
On receiving the report, I went back to discuss and asked her from where I was supposed to lose the weight. It seems as soon as total cholesterol goes above the norm, they are obliged by hospital policy to give such advice, in spite of me having low triglycerides and high HDL.
They either don't understand blood lipids, or are hell bent on prescribing Statins whenever the chance presents itself. Any wonder the world statin market is estimated to be over 15 billion US$ a year...

Dr. Berry I was not on meds but my blood pressure (which had been routinely 120/80 until COVID) was rising drastically. At my first checkup after COVID, it soared to 160/100. My Dr gave me a month to try to lower it through diet, but in a month it had risen to 191/111. This is three Fridays ago/15 days ago at 9am. Obviously my doctor prescribed meds. But as I was going back to my car - though I had not seen a Dr. Berry video on hypertension, I had seen enough of his videos (and other doctors) on the Carnivore diet, I decided to see what carnivore would do to my BP. It was about 9am, I hadn’t eaten yet, but the rest of the day I stuck strictly to carnivore. I tested my BP at 4 PM THE SAME DAY, and my BP had already fallen to 160/100. A fluke? The next day by morning it was about 148/96. It kept going down over the next few days. 5 days after going carnivore, my PB was starting to go under 120/80 - the lowest I’d ever known my BP to ever be during my life (I’m 59). For the following week to today, my blood pressure has moved between 120/80 at the high end and 105/60 at the low end. So my blood pressure problem essentially reversed itself in about a week. I did break carnivore JUST a little bit - I ate carnivore but splurged in fresh blueberries and (unsweetened) kefir. That seems to have sent my systolic BP back to 126. I went back on pure carnivore, and my BP this morning was 110/68. So my BP is very sensitive to even blueberries. But all this, while making me appreciate Dr. Berry, makes me furious at regular doctors, who not only don’t seem to know about the effects of carnivore on BP, but even preach that the worst thing you can do if you have hypertension is to go in the carnivore diet. I have a close uncle who died from taking prescribed medicines AS PRESCRIBED. It’s a crime the carnivore diet is not routinely prescribed to treat high blood pressure. No medicine in the world could have lowered my blood pressure as fast into healthy BP ranges as simply going on the carnivore diet did this. And I’ve lost 8 pounds without even trying.

Considering that one of the principle byproducts of cigarette smoke is carbon monoxide which is proven to rob our bloods ability to store & carry oxygen I don't understand how a medical professional could say that smoking doesn't raise blood pressure. The first thing the body tries to do when it's blood supply is being robbed of oxygen is to compensate by raising the blood pressure so that it can more effectively deliver oxygen to the cells

Early morning before food, I would just put little bit of sea salt under my tongue. 1 tbls Organic olive oil, blackseed oil sacha inchi and Sprinkle powder moringa in my drinks and healthy choice food. I ate a lot of vegetables. Flaxseed, pumpkin seed, almond nut, lots of blueberries, cranberries is in the diet as well. No red meat. Strength training. It is only the body's reaction to what we've done to it, i.e. inappropriate diet and lifestyle causing high insulin levels and inflammation. Thank you Dr Berry.

Taking all this to heart because so many doctors don't know their butts from a hole in the ground and finally got a specialist that knows how to treat hypertension and not just assign pills. One my former doctor had me on was Carvillidol and my new doctor was like, "This regulates the heart and does next to nothing for blood pressure. Why would they give you this?" Tells me all I need to know about some doctors.

This is timely for me. I have been hypersensitive to many meds my whole life. It took me a long time to find a BP med I could tolerate, Diovan. That was switched to the generic which, who knows how many years later, was recalled.
Then last week it was changed again without my knowing anything about it, and the pharmacist assured me it was the exact same med. I intentionally don't look at potential side effects to avoid any psychosomatic nonsense.
By the third day on the new med, I had a fever, flu symptoms, heart palpitations, etc. Strangest thing: flu symptoms, but didn't feel "sick". I finally looked and every symptom I had/have is listed.
I emailed my MD and told her I will not be taking that med. I know that stopping abruptly is not good. But under the circumstances, it seemed like the lesser of two evils. :(

Everything the doc says is spot on. I ran into health problems a year ago and began a regimen of intermittent fasting combined with elements of the keto & Mediterranean diets. The results were astounding.
Less read meat. More veggies. Lots of olive oil. I can't keep up a hard-core keto diet of under 50mg of carbs / day, but I have been keeping it under 100mg (USDA recommendation is 225-325mg, which is absurd).
Foods like spinach are excellent sources of magnesium and other vitamins / minerals. Baked potatoes and yams are great for potassium. Also, spicy foods and spices like cayenne pepper are natural vasodilators. Turmeric & garlic powder (or cooked garlic) are good for the lining of your blood vessels. Dark chocolate is great for magnesium & antioxidants. If you just shift WHAT you eat away from processed & takeout foods, you'll see results, and you won't be hungry that much, which is why most ppl can't follow diets for long.
After going through this I now believe, despite the fact that I lean right on the political spectrum, that the government needs to go after big food the way they went after big tobacco and ban ingredients like high fructose corn syrup. These companies are THE reason American life expectancy is now in decline, and the almighty fear of God must come down on them to get them to do the right thing.

I've gone from readings like 154/100 to readings like 112/74. While my weight has started to drop (about 5 lbs so far), I can't imagine that's enough to cause this change; I'm guessing it must be the elimination of inflammatory foods that is responsible for the change.

Lucky for me my Dr ignored my high blood pressure. And my anxiety. And my tumor. And every other health concern I had because she ignored me in general and was irritated when I didn't just want to go on random meds without any testing to find out what we were treating.
I have a new Dr now btw.
