Wolfgang wanting Michael Anthony back in VH proves what a class act and VH fan he is.
Just a good human being. Just like his dad. God bless this kid.
Sadly, many were doggin' Wolf through the years.
There were a lot of fans who suspected it would be an arrangement where Wolf opened for the original lineup. But I don't think anyone suspected they would try to bring back literally everyone for it! Roth, Hagar, and even Cherone... that could have been something.
Seriously...think about that. Giving up the gig of a lifetime in deference to the fans and their old friendships. Pure class.
I always thought it was obvious that Wolf was behind it and had the idea for it, just like it was his idea for the reunion with DLR.
Top goal as a parent is to raise kids who are good humans. By that standard, it appears EVH hit it out of the park.
That would be more his Mothers doing, not Eddies.
Hell ya
Yeah, he and Val raised a good human. I haven't heard his music yet but I'm already a fan.
Agreed. Wolfgang seems like a real well adjusted person. You can't say that about a lot of the kids of the rich and famous. You can tell he was raised with a lot of support and love!
he had a little help from valerie.. but i agree..
what a nice guy. so sorry he lost his dad. hang in there wolf.
Too bad this never happened with the reunion. You can tell wolfie is a genuinely good kid
I love the fact that Wolfie is the one who listened to the fans and demanded his Dad have a reunion with the original VH lineup
He's 30 my friend. Not a kid. But, yes Wolfie is a good man!
While we didn't get that reunion we did get so many years of a legend and for that I'm grateful. EVH will live on forever.
That was tough to listen to. I feel for Wolf. F**king cancer.
I mean Eddie had a cig in his hand 24/7....this was preventable. Cancer was the end result of EVH not taking care of himself.
F-cancer ! I wish a fraction of my tax dollars was going into cancer research than stockpiling weapons.
That fucking cigarette. Ever present during their prime. Put out one, light another. Always stuck in the neck or hanging out of his lips when he played. Slowly burning him down.
Wolfie seems like such a great guy. Sad.
I was pleased to see Howard NOT interrupt Wolife at this point. As great of an interviewer Howard is (essentially the best), he has a tendency to interject some of himself when a guest is speaking about something.
The silence of those pauses by Wolfie make this clip absolutely gripping.
I completely agree. Howard over the years has started interrupting more and more, in fact ringo star called him on it.
Something so delicate & privileged to be shared with us strangers.......👍❤️
Something so delicate & privileged to be shared with us strangers.......👍❤️
"So in a sense...what you are saying here, is that you miss your father?"
Eddie Trunk would have been interrupting him nonstop
Mad respect talking about your father's health and reliving the process of his deteriorating days is tough as hell. Hope his career keeps successful.
I just lost my Dad too. He was my best friend. Prayers for vh family...and mine please
so sorry for your loss, lost my dad not so long ago,its the worst thing ever
Sorry to hear that brother.
Much love and prayers ❤️ Stay strong brother.
I am sorry for your loss. I lost my dad in April 2020. It sucks.
Praying for you James ... Hang in there .
Poor kid.... you can see the bags under his eyes. You can tell how much love he has for his dad... and how this is affecting him..
Have you checked out Distance yet here on UA-cam? The end of the song, or at least what's in the video, had me in tears.
Lighting can add bags, too, though.
poor..i doubt it
LONG LIVE EVH! Sorry for the loss Wolf, losing your Dad sucks!
If it had been... then the picture of the new band member formation on the cover album would have the guys leaning onto their muscle cars and onto their Harley Davidson bikes wearing sun glasses and leather jackets while behind them is a backdrop of a brick wall and graffiti with the inscription of "Road Trip of Life"... I guess.
Probably.
Wolfie has to put up with a lot of B.S. from a certain subset of Van Halen “fans”... but I just adore this kid. Really talented and still grounded. He saved his old man’s life and gave us Van Halen lifers a killer final act. Thank you, Wolf.
My heart goes out to Wolfgang. The world lost an Icon, but he lost his dad.
Carry the torch, Wolf! Your dad was the greatest. RIP
Oh wow I wouldn't recognize him if I saw him on the street. His Twitter is super funny, Ed raised a great kid.
Exactly
Cant count out Valerie too. I'm pretty sure she kept things together for their son when Eddie was really falling apart
I love his mother too.
Such a soft spoken young man. I hope he knows that while death ends a life, it does not end the continuing relationship he will have with his Dad.
Exactly. The love and relationship itself never dies. It just morphs into something a little different once the physical being is no longer there.
Never met or heard much from Wolfgang ever. Hearing his story, as a man left behind with grievous loss nothing can ever replace, and my own knowing (as many of us do) of that exact life altering burden makes me wanna just hug the guy. You can't muster that kind of authenticity, his courageous demeanour is as commendable as it is painful to hear. This is a beautiful human and I'm so glad he is here in this world.
you could hear a pin drop when Wolfie is talking. This kid is amazing. I miss EVH every day.
I’m in awe how well spoken Wolfgang is. Very intelligent, down to earth, and extremely talented young man! Always remain true to yourself as you are.
Wolfgang, my sincerest condolences to you and your family. Your father was larger than life, a true legend, greatest of all time. Many of us (fans) are in mourning as well. He left us with many wonderful songs, but without a doubt his best legacy he left behind is you. I look forward to your music.
that was deep such a sincere kid i mean adult his dad would be so proud and is!
Wolfie and Eddie seemed to have a pretty close and beautiful relationship.
I’m just so impressed and proud of this kid. He grew up into a quality human being. Poised, grounded and very real. Big thumbs up to you Wolf!
Much respect! Only Wolfgang could bring the whole crew together! I’m glad you got another 3 years with your dad!!
Ed raised a good one. His archives and legacy are in good hands.
I am so sorry for your loss, Wolfgang.
This is one of the first interviews I have seen with Wolfie what a honest humble guy.
I know the feeling of losing a loved one who was so close to you growing up. I lost my grandfather to a stroke back when I was in 7th grade. He was a musician too (a jazz musician). One of the first songs I wrote in high school was dedicated to him, and it was about coping with the loss of loved ones. Wolfie's song Distance brought tears to my eyes because I know that pain very well. Just like my granddaddy, I know that EVH is in a better place.
I know what you're going through, Wolfie, and I'm so sorry for your loss. Love and healing to you and your family during this difficult time. RIP Eddie 😔🙏🏻
I love Wolfgang. What an amazing job his parents did with that young man!
I can’t understand the pain that wolf is going through but I can sure see it in his eyes
Thank you Wolfie for sharing all you do. Your dad was such an icon. I wish you & the family nothing but the best.
Outstanding interview that drew tears. Outstanding poise, talent, energy and soul...no wonder that your Dad was so proud of you Wolf.
So heartbreaking. Thanks for your honesty and your courage to share, Wolfie.
Wow, I can't wait to hear this interview in its entirety! Just this part alone was very powerful. It's so difficult to lose a parent. It always feels like they were taken too soon.
@Katie Lee , Joe Infantini channel on UA-cam has the entire interview. Check it out.
Sorry for your loss, Wolfgang. Hope you’ll be happy making your music and give us that happiness like your father did
Wolfie, thank you for manning up, stepping forward, and being open about what's been going on over the past several years. We know it has to be painful at times, but we're here for you.
This was a fantastic interview; thank you Howard for bringing Wolfie to us; it was good to hear his sweet voice & his stories!
When the time feels right, Wolfgang ought to see the kitchen sink reunion through. Put together an ace cast of guitarists to pay tribute on their favorite tunes. A memorial and celebration of the whole saga.
Hell Yes👍.........I would buy a ticket for that!❤️
Dewzzel Zappa On Guitar ❤️
I guess you missed the part when Wolfgang said Van Halen the band is over it the desperate fans than keep bring this up.. You can`t have Van Halen without Eddie as Wolfgang said.
Is that your real name, or just a big fan of the Scorpions?
Why have others play for Eddie when wolf can do it.
Thanks Wolf for having the courage and strength to share with us info on your beloved dad. As a guy who in 1 month from first diagnosis lost his dad in 2018 to liver cancer, I can tell you that there won't be a day that goes by that you won't think of him, but your grief will lessen as you learn to deal with it. Keep your chin up as that's probably what your dad would want you to do.
Thanks to Howard Stern we have another great interview. I was almost in tears upon hearing that Edward was sick for so much longer than I, and many of his fans, actually knew.
Really Great of you to Discuss this with us Wolfie....Thank you !
Thank you for sharing with us, Wolfie. So sorry for your loss.
Thank you Wolfgang for your courage and honesty in sharing your story and shedding some light on reality with your dad's HUGE community of fans and admirers.
Howard this is the BEST interview you’ve ever done. Well spoken and handled. It helped that Wolfgang is such an articulate thoughtful subject.
Really feel for this guy, you can hear it in his voice. Bless you brother, thank you for having the courage to share.
You need to post this whole interview it’s a must 🙏🏻❤️
😭😭😭wolf he’s gonna make his Pops proud 🤘🤘🎸🎶🎤🥁 fantastic new music
wow this brought tears to my eyes. can’t even imagine how hard it was on Wolfgang and the family ❤️
"I got three more years with him". Cherish those years, Wolfgang.
My dad had colon-rectal cancer and after cobalt therapy and surgery, he lived another seventeen years...the best years.
Deepest sympathies, Wolfgang. Your dad gave the world his gift and always will be remembered.
Thank you so much for this heartfelt interview Howard
Those little breaths of sadness hit right in the feels . RIP EVH Rock On Wolfie
Wolf, you are such a great man. I am so sorry for your loss. When your Dad passed, it was like I lost a very, very good friend.
So happy they had this such amazing relationship. Dream come true for both parties involved. So sad to lose your Dad at a young age, poor guy. Seems so rad
You're one hell of a man Wolfgang I'm so sorry for your loss I lost my dad to lung cancer to
Hey Wolfie, make your dad proud, put your music out there, do it from your heart, don't give in to commercial pressure. Wish you all the best in life, your dad meant a LOT to me
Valerie and Ed did a fabulous job with this young man. Even is voice...so calm, down-to-earth. I'm so impressed with his idea to bring everyone back Mike, David, Sam, Gary. I just listened to his single about his father "Distance". So loving.
WVH seems like such a good hearted person. Just watched the last VH concert at the Hollywood Bowl last night and he is really, really good.
Damn...I just want to give Wolfgang the biggest, longest, squeeze hug right now. I'm so, so sorry for the pain you are going through. I pray that the pain heals and is replaced with smiles from all the amazing memories that will remain a lifetime. 💯❤
No matter what, we love you wolf! Thank you for everything.
What a great kid Wolfgang is. Such a loss for the world having Eddie pass. A musical genius and from what everyone whose been interviewed have said just a nice, humble dude. Rest easy
I’m so sorry for your loss 🙏🏻
Thanks for taking the time Wolf to share these details with us fans. As a long time fan of VH and seeing you with the band on Tour in 2012 playing alongside your Dad was a treat for many of us. So sorry for your loss. 🎸💕😔
Thank you for sharing. My heart goes out to the family and to how brave Eddie was
Wolf is pure class. I understand his pain because although we weren’t famous, my dad was also a musician who got me started young and I joined his band when I was 15, just like Wolf and Van Halen. I also lost my dad to cancer. He was 49. Thinking about what Wolf and his family has gone through has me in tears. RIP dad and Eddie.
What a cool tour that would of been. Liked to have seen the Cherone stuff live also.
I went backstage at the VHIII tour. Cherone was a super nice guy, excellent vocalist, but the fans refused to accept him. He was doomed from the start. Anybody would have been. Unfortunately Alex and Eddie were also at a low point during this tour, and Michael was on his way out. Cherone was kind of on his own.
Lost my son last year, grandmother before that, best friends, ect...loss is hard to express.
We just wish we had more time w these people we love .
R.i.p. Eddie
❤️
Just watched the Distance video. Absolutely beautiful and well written and composed! Pure love!! Wolfgang, you are so blessed to have had such a loving father in your life who has inspired and loved you so unconditionally. Stay strong and when times are tough and remember that your dad is watching over you and only wants the best for you in your life. Rise above negative people and gravitate only on the positive people that see you for who you are and your worth.
What a Great Kid He Is,,Lucky to have Val and Eddie as Parents,They love him So Much,,RIP EVH 🙏🙏🙏
It must be tough to recycle thru the difficult time your dad went thru in recent years, but thank you for being strong and sharing everything with us Wolf! You're da MAN!!!
Sorry for your loss Wolf, the love you have for your dad really shows. I was able to hear your song and watched the tribute to him, such a beautiful amazing song brought tears to my eyes. You are very talented in your own right. I know your dad is very proud of you and has that huge smile on his face looking down on you. Your dad will always be with you in your heart, stay strong. May the Lord grant you peace through your grieving process. I thank you for sharing very personal memories with the public, it took a lot of courage to release this song only one month after your dad passed. God Bless you and your family.
Wolfgang! Warms my heart to hear you talk about your Dad!! I’ve been a fan from the beginning and now we have you to carry on your style!! Keep it you, but always remember what your Dad taught you!! You can’t go wrong man!! You’re ROCK!! 🤘😎🎸
Dropped by here after watching Wolfie's new release 'Distance'. Props for what must've been difficult talkin' about your Dad's last days. There's a hole in all our hearts from Eddie's passing - we lost a legend to cancer. Deepest condolences. Your father looked immensely proud of you in all the home movie clips and I'm sure he's lookin' down from above with his trademark smile.
Love the new song. What an amazing tribute.
I just lost my grandfather to cancer and to hear this was very touching and moving
Your parents raised a wonderful talented young man, may each day bring your heart some happiness again, I’m sure you’re dad would want you to be happy again in time ❤️❤️
I'd like to know what the treatment was in Germany that yielded Eddie 3 more years of life.
It’s Immunotherapy .....I think there where a couple drugs that where not approved at that time in the United States that they were using in Germany..Lung cancer has made huge Advancements the last couple years, hopefully in the future will be managed like a chronic disease.Eddie lived three years with stage four lung cancer which was unheard of 15 years ago
Not only that bring it to the u.s.a, my brother only got 3 months after being diagnosed. R.I.P CHARLIE..
Probably some kind of tailored immunotherapy. There’s so much experimental stuff going on all over the world with that and a lot has been approved by the FDA, but only for cancer that has specific genetic markers. I think he had similar therapy 20 years ago with the original tongue cancer.
In America, cancer is big business the more people that get it the more money they make. They also make big money by donation.
You didn't hear? Wolfie said: Gamma Knife.
So sorry for his loss . I pray he heals with all of his loved ones around him .
Wishing Wolf and family peace and comfort. Such decent chap. My sincere condolences.
RIP EVH 🎸🙏🏽. It's been 10 years since I lost my mom. What I can say is that time heals and love and their memories will fill the void. Hang in there Wolf. 🤘🏽
Sorry for your loss wolf....you obviously had a great relationship with your dad....so good to hear about that. I really liked the new tune you created. Well done...much talent...thanks for putting it out there!! Absolutely feel it stands on its own.
My first VanHalen concert was the best of my life 1984 at The Sportatorium in Hollywood Florida (Sporthole for short). I never missed a tour since....Wolf your dad touched generations, Now with your music I just heard...You are carrying on your fathers legacy, with your own. That song you wrote for your dad, the music the lyrics, your voice AMAZING...I will patiently wait for your tour, And i can promise you, Im a fan for life. Bravo Wolf truly your music is a MUCH needed breath of fresh air. All my love to you❤️❤️
Wow...great interview. No interruptions.
One of Howard's first, if not the first interviews I've seen where he doesn't interrupt a guest.
What a great son. Such a sweet soul. God bless you Wolf
I like how he's sympathetic that Michael Anthony is an integral part of the VH sound.
God bless you Wolf and your family. You’ve probably heard this a billion times but ur dad was my guitar hero and while I never knew him, he was such a huge part of my early years. RIP EVH 😥
God bless you and your family...Heart and Prayers go out to you and your family...Love from Canada

Gd bless you and the whole family ❤ Lost both my parents this year. I totally feel your pain. Still in shock. Your dad is a true legend and a great man. RIP EVH
Just beautiful. Incredible song. Moving video. Tears in my eyes. Lump in my throat. God bless.
Wolfgang is the sweetest soul. Hang in there. It never leaves you but it does get better.
Sorry, Wolfgang, for your loss. You are outstanding. Intelligent and humble, what a great combination.
Thanks for sharing those details Wolf, lifetime fan here who loved everything you all did. RIP EVH!
I can’t believe how powerful that little bit of video was for me. ❤️
Love and prayers to you and your family. Your dad and the band were a huge inspiration to me and my friends.
Much love to you Wolfie, great song! Shed a tear.
I lost my dad in a quite similar way 17 years ago (damn, time passes by so quickly), but i am happy to hear he got three more years by proper treatment.
Really nice interview! 👍
I saw Van Halen in 1992 in Little Rock, Ar and it was incredible! Eddie broke a string mid-solo but it basically had no effect on him at all! I'm grateful I got to see him and them on April 8, 1992, I'll never forget it! My prayers go out to Wolf and family. Rip EVH🙏
I give wolfie great respect, such a laid back guy.👍👌🏻 R.I.P. EVH
I lost my dad seven years ago and it still feels like yesterday. The reunion idea would’ve been amazing but sometimes things don’t work out in life. God bless you and your family
Wolfie, your dad was my child hero and am 50 yrs old now. An he continues to be my hero. I am sure when the time comes, you will make the right decision to go forward with music. God bless.
