LOL. Very smart guy and cool that he reached out to Eddie. Props!!
migo53333 Jimmy page is the most 'iconic' player in my opinion...hes just amazing! However, yes IMO Eddie is the most 'innovative' player. There is a difference. Jimmy didnt buy throw away guitar bodies and tear out electronics from other brands to put together an gnarly looking 'Frankenstein' guitar searching for a tone that off the shelf guitars would not achieve. Then take it on tour using it onstage for millions of people!! So yes, Eddie is much more innovative than any guitar player I have ever heard, seen, or read about. Who can you say has done that like he did?
F3502000 when van halen came out in '78 no one had ever heard that sound before. their producer and sound engineers deserve some major credit too. other bands that had a completely new and groundbreaking sound ; Rush (legends), Yes (legends), Boston (cheesy but had great production quality), Metallica (wicked heavy at the time but used lots of musicality), and Slayer (blew the fucking top off of everybody's head)
Considering all Eddie has been through (self inflicted and not) I think he looks pretty freakin' great! Don't forget he is pushing 60 and has had lots of oral surgery.
WOW, I think it's great that these 2 guys are collaborating on a project! But it is very sad that there are so many haters and shallow minded people out there!!
I agree. I saw Van Halen open for Black Sabbath in 1978. They did two songs from their upcoming album- "Beautiful Girls"and "Spanish Fly" . We thought "Eruption" was the end-all! Jan Akkerman from Focus had made our heads spin with "Hocus Pocus" in 1973. My guitar buddies and I swore Jan couldn't be bettered- until Eddie. Many have dazzled, but most of the guitar wizardry heard in the last 35 years can be traced back to EVH- he made us want to explore and practice.
Great interview especially discussing the racial question. Plus great music! Good going, everyone who participated! To hear "love and music conquers all" gives me hope for the world.
Peirce is like a little School girl around Eddie...Which I understand to a degree as V.H. was a monumental rock band (The Sound of 80's hair band rock personified). But, it seems to me that he's not really all that interested in talking to L.L. who is just as cool in his own right. L.L. was smooth as shit and extremely musical sounding at a time when your average Hip Hop song wasn't much more than a catch phrase over a drum loop. (You Down with OPP?) These were the two extreme ends of the 80's-90's pop music world. But when L.L. says the most poignant thing I have ever heard on the topic of race relations in America..."IF WE CAN"T MOVE PAST WHAT HAPPENEND IN THE PAST, HOW CAN WE HAVE A FUTURE TOGETHER?" To which Peirce responds by telling Eddie how great he looks for a 60 year old man... CNN Missing the point since 1983.

That was awesome! What a great pair of guests these two were. Eddie is the best...one of the most innovative guitar players in rock history if not the most. Anyone who would take a guitar they put together like his Frankenstein and play for 10's of thousands of people is incredible!! LL is just a cool dude that you sure as hell don't want to scrap with! LOL. Very smart guy and cool that he reached out to Eddie. Props!!
most innovative guitar player in rock history???? u should watch jimmy page play.......hes the guy eddy wishes he was.....
migo53333 Jimmy page is the most 'iconic' player in my opinion...hes just amazing!
Brian Fastabend You lost me when you said Boston was cheesy......
It is absolutely incredible how many people hate Piers Morgan! He's less popular than a kick in the nuts! How does he do it?
When he performs he looks so fucking jolly, like I cant think of another artist that looks that happy playing on stage.
Make that ONE musical icon. His initials are EVH...period!
Love Eddie , have nothing for cnn, a channel I watched for years
Considering all Eddie has been through (self inflicted and not) I think he looks pretty freakin' great! Don't forget he is pushing 60 and has had lots of oral surgery.
now he's passed away :(
WOW! That was very insightful and very well said!
EVH is the Mozart of the guitar!
This interview is straight-up awesome. Big fan of Eddie and VH and LL was a big part of my childhood too.
Descanse em paz, Eddinho! Voce foi muito querido e sempre sera lembrado! 🎸 💋 😇 💗
best of both worlds...my life comes full circle. I grew up with LL and van halen...loved them all
EVH sounds like George Carlin, am I right??
haha! he totally does.
I'm thinking exactly that way.. i swear.. lol..
You got that right. And Eddie's pretty funny too.
Brandon O'Sullivan Nope. CASEY KASEM!!
I was also 19 when Jump came out. Loved 1984 record. And LL is in one of my favorite movies The Last Holiday with Queen Latifah.
Eddie is such a great guy, great music to.
Great interview especially discussing the racial question. Plus great music! Good going, everyone who participated! To hear "love and music conquers all" gives me hope for the world.
Man, this hurts, Eddie was the best, no doubt about it.
Wow! Never knew this existed, thanks for sharing. Curious about how the songs sound.
Great interview. Love is a powerful thing. Love, brings people together to either do great things or make people do better in life.
