There's something about your reactions that allows me to hear my favorite songs for the very first time again! Thank you, Jamel, for giving us this wonderful gift. ❤️😘
My friends and I used to sing this walking on the way to Junior High School with each of us taking a different part of the harmony. I don't think we appreciated how great the music was in that time. ❤️
Michael McDonald’s smooth soul voice can also be found on Kenny Loggins’ “This is It”, a song Kenny wrote to inspire his terminally-ill father. It was a huge, uplifting hit in its day, and I really think you’d like it!
Kenny Loggins' "This Is It", "Heart to Heart" along with the Doobie's "Minute by Minute" and "What a Fool Believes" are all Loggins and McDonald collaborations.
I'm old enough to remember when the Doobie Brothers went in the Michael McDonald direction. Not everyone was pleased. I think it worked out ok. Those were the days when a whole album was great, not just one song. What a Fool Believes is one of my go-to songs forever!
Lifelong Doobies fan here. Minute by Minute, the album was them at the absolute top of their game. I say that realizing that throughout they laid out a smorgasbord of quality compositions expertly performed. I mean at least 3 of the Doobies did time with Steely Dan. You dont get to put that on your resume unless you are well beyond solid.
Doobies were my dad's FAVORITE!! My family will be seeing them this summer in his memory. Your reactions have brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for loving them just as he did!
This is my husband’s but I have to comment. I can’t tell you how much you make me smile. I’m very ill but I listen to music every day all day long. I’m 67yrs old. All the music you play is from my teenage years. I love seeing your reaction when you listen to our music. I say “our” music because it’s every one’s music. Please play Cow by Steely Dan ? I understand that the name is kind of funny but it’s so good! Thank you so very much. Peace love and flower power.

PLEASE DON'T TAKE THIS WRONG- YOU MAKE THIS FEMALE WANT TO DANCE AGAIN BY JUST WATCHING YOU ON THESE VIDEOS . I DIDN'T EVER STOP LOVING MY GENERATIONS MUSIC, HOWEVER YOU HAVE LIT ME UP AGAIN TO THESE FINE TUNES...THANKS
Tiran Porter on bass, btw. He sure knows how to underpin the melody , doing his thing yet never overwhelming anything. One of my all-time favorite bass players.
I got to see the Doobie Brothers Reunion Tour, 11 Doobies on stage! It was fabulous. Every song had the big fat sound of two drummers, four horns, guitars, bass, Mikey on piano and unbelievable harmonies.
What a voice. I've loved Michael McDonald forever! Sat at the table next to him in a Santa Barbara restaurant many, many years ago (25?). He was so handsome I couldn't stop peeking a look. He finally caught me and smiled sweetly and said hi. So cute.
I love watching you react to anything Michael McDonald does, because I can see you feel his voice the way I do. Plus, the added pleasure of just listening to Michael while you're soaking it in!
Also: check out blue-eyed soul duo Hall and Oates. You will know their songs! Michael Jackson admitted that H&O song “I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)’ was the inspiration for the baseline in ‘Billie Jean’.
IN my top 50 groups of ALL TIME!! CANT mess with the DOOBIE BROTHERS! MY parents introduced me to that album as a teen, and I have yet to hear a vocal like HIS AGAIN!! INTENSE,baby!!
Thank you for your part in keeping us focused on the healing power of music. You say you work in retail. I'm thankful for you and everyone who's staying on the job for those of us who still need the essentials. Praying you and your family are safe.
Michael McDonald in Steely Dan is when I fell in love with him. "Peg" was the first 45 I bought as a 14 year old. Rode the bus downtown to buy it. When Michael joined the Doobies, they became my favorite! His soulful voice is amazing!!!
Between 1977 & 1982 it seemed that Michael McDonald was on EVERY record on the radio, he was everywhere: Doobie Bro’s. & solo. Backing vocals on Steely Dan, Kenny Loggins, Ambrosia, Christopher Cross, Robbie Dupree & many more. So great, sooo smooth.

Hey Jamal another banger once again, enjoyed this reaction! One of my favorite songs could you please react to their song Real Love & Yah Mo B There by Michael McDonald & James Ingram! A definite shoulder dancing song! Thanks again for giving us a great reaction!😀🕺🕺🕺🕺🕺
Jamal, this takes me back to 7 years old. I was at the skating rink with my 16 year old cousin and his buddies. the prettiest 17 year old girl in the place went out on the rink alone and everyone was too intimidated to make a move. I was my cousins front man which is why he always brought me along. he pushed me out on the floor and this song came on. It was one of my favorites so I passed her and skated backwards in front of her. I took her hand and sang the song to her. She asked me where i learned how to skate so after the song I took her to my cousin, They had a thing for minute lol. Great memory man
Saw them a couple of times, and their level of musicianship is through the roof. They were also a band, like the old Hall & Oates band, where all the members could sing... so the backing vocals are rich and thick with harmony.
