I'm an old Doobie head, this was their peak with Michael McDonald. His work with Steely Dan was phenomenal as well. Not to mention his giant solo success. He is so good live he elevates the band, the audience, everyone.

Good tune, but the MM era is my least favorite from the Doobies. He definitely left his imprint, kind of "took over" while he was there, I prefer the more "group effort" tunes without him.

That’s Michael McDonald singing lead.he was solo before this and after. He was everywhere inthe 70s 80s and 90s. He did duets with everybody. He did “on my own” with patti label. You would be listening to a pop artist throughout these decades. Suddenly you would hear a male backup singer in the back of the track and it was him. Who knows if he made much money but michaels vocals we wanted and were everywhere. He might not have even gotten credit for what he did but he did it all. Best backup male vocalist of all these decades.

    You nailed it India.
My generation being raised up in the 60's and 70's was a special time in history. We liked each other! That was just how the times were.We learned about life through the greatest era of music there will ever be.
The Music is what drove us to live.
We bonded with friends through Bands and their songs. We went to Concerts and passed the joints to the people in front, next to or behind us.
Life today is nothing resembling what we lived through back when. We have evolved negatively, into a very Angry society. The stuff record companies produce today that is called music, is far away from what you heard here today. Many of us We can't understand how so many could love today's messages and sounds which speaks in downward tones, where as the songs of the "ROCK" generation spoke of good times, and getting along with each other.
BTW Concert tickets cost anywhere from $2.50 to a whopping $7.50 in the early to mid 70's. I hated to but I had to spend the unheard cost of $10.50 to see Led Zepplin in 1977 Cleveland Coliseum, Section 110, Row "H", seat 8. I will never forget that seat nor that Night. I also saw them the next night, show was not as good as the first.

First and foremost, let me say that I am beyond impressed that someone as young as you appear to be, seems to have taken interest to listening to many great music of years past, probably way before your time. The Doobie Brothers is definitely on my list of favourite artists since I will be going to see them in concert this coming July. That said, if you take "requests", could you please react to some other Doobie Brothers tracks, like "Mississippi Moon", "What A Fool Believes" and "One Step Closer". If you're willing, please react to Anita Baker's "Sweet Love" and "Same Ole Love".

India, I just found your channel, this is wonderful thing that you are doing. I saw the Doobie Brothers in the parking lot of the Mall of America in the mid 90's. It rained until about an hour before showtime, since we lived 10 minutes away we drove over to see if they were going to play(no internet then). The band was setting up but the only fans were a handful of us in general seating- the back bleachers. When the music started and very few people had shown up, I walked to the front and dumped the water off of a chair and sat down. The bleachers cleared and everyone followed my lead. What a great afternoon to hear a great band.

When I was about 17 I got picked up hitchhiking to a concert I never made it to called the Mountain Aire Festival where the Doobie Bros played , the concert was almost over when the two gals picked me up outside of Yosemite Park after seeing how sad I was they invited me to go to the Lodge on a lake they worked as cocktail waitresses saying there would be live music , I had a fake ID and taking their advice waited on the boat dock until it started to get busy as luck would have it they accepted my ID and made it in , as soon as they saw me they invited me to their table which was right next to the small stage , I sat down next to a piano / organ and at one point actually had my elbow on it , that piano turned out to be Michael McDonalds , all the bands from the Festival went to the lodge after the concert and jammed together , one of the drummers was one of the surviving members of Lynyrd Skynyrd , I met the Band members and got their autographs on the back of my unused ticket , the drummer who was still using crutches to walk from his injuries sustained from the plane crash handed me his drumsticks , the Bass player from the Outlaws asked me to introduce him to the girls I had met , that night he and I both went home with the two gals and spent the night at their house in Sonora , the next morning I got up and started hitch hiking back Home to Fresno Ca
