You guys are so young. Back in the day it didn't matter what color you were. If you created a good groove, people liked it now. Ever since 2004 they've been trying to divide us. Glad to see your checking out the old stuff. I'm a 60ish white dude and try to never miss an episode. You guys give me hope.
whoa didn't know he was in Doobie Brothers. I just listened to a whole bunch of their stuff the other day and was blown away at how many great songs they have
I'm a stagehand and worked one of his tours a few years ago. I got to help set up his piano for the show. He's still got the chops; it was a great show.
Don Fagan wanted Michael McDonald to be the singer for Steely Dan instead of himself. Fagan never liked being on stage, and never liked his own voice. He wanted McDonald.
You young guys are restoring my hope for this generation. Not only are you listening to this music you are enjoying and appreciative of its influence on today's music. Keep it up. Old head from Donalsonville, LA
Miraculous is exactly the right word. Yes, influenced by African American singers, but a sound all his own, instantly recognizable, so musical, so soulful, truly beautiful.
Personally I think the bands and songs of the of the 70s but mostly the 80s are unmatched. I was born at the wrong time unfortunately and didn't get to enjoy the magic of that time.
So nice to see you young guys enjoying this. This where most of your today's rappers get their music samples from our music. This is one of my favorite songs. I'm 50 yrs old now but grew up on this good music.
Yesssss!!! Back when sampling other music was a compliment and allowed, I loved the earliest of rap music, it was super fun and those beats they'd sample... effin awesome. Miss it.
Michael McDonald is a GOAT! He sang lead in one of the best bands of the 70s & 80s, The Doobie Brothers. "Takin' It to the Streets", "What a Fool Believes", and a song with James Ingram called "Yah Mo Be There" are some of my favorites. Btw, Steely Dan, Toto and other bands seemed to keep Mr. McDonald busy with backing vocals in those days.

@@StacyMarshall-fj5mh cooorect ! This was a start of the replicating other music in the 90s . Using ALMOST the same back drop beat . Y’all don’t understand the feeling that overpowers me when i see younger generations listening to music i grew up listening to that my parents had exposed us to . I love it . This song was out in 1983 i believe , i was born 86” so this song touches my soul
Yeah, it's great to know younger people like the music of an earlier time. I would be ecstatic if they visited the Grand Canyon and then listened to Ferde Grafe's Grand Canyon Suite. It is a true classic from the early 1900's. Grofe put to music what the eyes can see.
Joni Mitchell's "Good Friends", Dog Eat Dog's opening track and first single. Mitchell's choice of Michael McDonald on vocals. The video of Good Friends is very creative with Joni and her then bass playing husband, Larry Klein (producer of many singer's albums) together. To me the video is very reminiscent of Michael Jackson's "Leave Me Alone" video. Pretty different and cool video for the timez! Michael also does background vocals on the song "Tax Free" off the same album.
One of my favorite songs of all time! I’m only 38 but I was raised in a house where we only listened to what my parents wanted to… only old school. Earth Wind and Fire, DeBarge, old MJ off the wall, Gap Band, Frankie Beverly & Maze, etc
My own children were raised on this type of music too. They are now in their mid thirties and still listen to it. Great music has no age, race, colour, gender, religion or socioeconomic barriers. You were raised well! 😊
One of the greatest voices to sing into a microphone from the 70s up until today. I’ve lost count the number of times I’ve just sat and lost patches of time sitting and listening to him singing What a Fool Believes, Minute By Minute, Takin It To the Streets, and many more.
I ❤ ya'll for this. Young man on the right when the "Regulator" beat dropped😂😂😂I got to live thru that beat twice in a lifetime!!!Both ways were life changing.
all I can say is you guys are 'COOL'....I'm 73 years old. I've been a musician for most of my life and back in the day, me and so many of my friends sat and listened in awe to the black artists of the day. Its wonderful when music brings us together as we always should be. When we see each other truly as brothers and sisters there is no limit to what we can learn and enjoy.
As soon as he started singing, everyone of you couldn’t help but start moving! 😂 Had me laughing so hard watching you guys enjoy the hell out of his groove.

Omg I love you guys! I'm a disabled veteran and don't have much to smile about. You guys make me smile!
I am 53 and I grew up with this song. Loved it and loved that y’all liked it too! Love the dancing!
Oh my days ❤❤❤❤
I agree! These guys are great…and the music itself is pure magic!😊 It’s amazing how music can have an effect on us all! Thanks for your service, Elisa…Happy (almost) Veteran’s Day!
Thank you for your sacrifice and service. ❤️🙏🏾
Thank you for serving! 🇺🇸
I am 60, white and love to watch them enjoy all the 70/80s music. 💜
All music I love. ❤️
The only thing better for this old lady appreciating this song again is watching you young men getting to hear it for the FIRST time. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰
Right?!? The song and reaction is great!
Wasn’t it great? It made my whole day! ❤
Absolutely right! They are dancing and having a great time! My favorite song that Michael McDonald sings is “Real Love” with The Doobie Brothers and “On My Own” with Patti Labelle! 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕😎😎😎😎
You guys are so young. Back in the day it didn't matter what color you were. If you created a good groove, people liked it now. Ever since 2004 they've been trying to divide us. Glad to see your checking out the old stuff. I'm a 60ish white dude and try to never miss an episode. You guys give me hope.
Music definitely unites us. Bob Marley immediately comes to mind 😊👍🏽
🙏
Wth???
Good music
Any color
Still applies❤❤❤❤😂
Sad but SO true!! I grew up in the 80s & we all jammed together & had no issues. Something really changed in the early 2000s for sure!
We need caravan of love in this day in time
Glad you all enjoyed Michael McDonald.Check him out when he was in the Doobie Brothers band,a powerful and beautiful voice.Peace to you brothers.
What a Fool Believes---amazing!
Steely Dan too
whoa didn't know he was in Doobie Brothers. I just listened to a whole bunch of their stuff the other day and was blown away at how many great songs they have
Remember when the doobie brothers were on what’s happening?
@@davidsummersett2153 yes! Rerun was recording a bootleg!
I love that within a few seconds you started dancing, I don't think anyone can stay still listening to this!
I'm a stagehand and worked one of his tours a few years ago. I got to help set up his piano for the show. He's still got the chops; it was a great show.
Mike Mac's voice was everywhere in the 70's, 80's & 90's. Every other artist wanted his backing vocals on their albums
Don Fagan wanted Michael McDonald to be the singer for Steely Dan instead of himself. Fagan never liked being on stage, and never liked his own voice. He wanted McDonald.
His voice is so distinctive on all the tracks he contributed to with artists such as steely Dan. Loved when he was with the doobies.
Peeeeg!
Exactly. Just look at Christopher Cross and Kenny Loggins.
He worked with James Ingram, too.
You young guys are restoring my hope for this generation. Not only are you listening to this music you are enjoying and appreciative of its influence on today's music. Keep it up. Old head from Donalsonville, LA
i love watching these guys watch other artists! they are so adorable!
I’m 47. This was great seeing you enjoy this song. Warren G and Nate killed this on Regulators. Good music always lives on.
Was just thinking same!
Lets be real, it was mostly Nate.
both songs are in heavy rotation on my commute playlist, love the classics
Yup I miss Nate. Love Michael (Doobie Brothers)
God bless u!
It's a beautiful thing to see young folk appreciate real musical talent. Beautiful boys and Michael McDonald is THE MAN
Michael McDonald is the Definition of Blue Eyed Soul his solo work plus his time with The Doobie Brothers was epic in Music please do more of them!
And Bobby Caldwell
That's what we called Michael McDonald, the Average White Band and The Doobie Brothers.
My friend and I took a road trip to Nashville to see the Doobie Brothers last year. They did NOT disappoint!
And Boz....
"....THAT'S MISTER Scaggs...."
I'd also would add Daryl Hall to the list
I love your guys reaction to this song! Awesome! I grew up listening to Michael McDonald. My dad loved him. Great channel guys!
Michael's speaking vioice is also beautiful. His voice is miraculous, not to mention he is also a seriously nice, humble person.
love him❤
Miraculous is exactly the right word. Yes, influenced by African American singers, but a sound all his own, instantly recognizable, so musical, so soulful, truly beautiful.
@@stellabandante2727 yes
“Miraculous”? That weird falsetto noise coming out of his mouth? It’s torture. The guy had great hair, though.
Saw him some years ago on a cruise full of bands from the 70s.
You guys are so fun to watch. The talent in the bands of the 70s can not be matched.
Y'all make me so happy dancing with my music 🎶 Love your reactions always ❣️ You are all so handsome 🥰
Personally I think the bands and songs of the of the 70s but mostly the 80s are unmatched. I was born at the wrong time unfortunately and didn't get to enjoy the magic of that time.
OMG! I’m a 71 year old who’s listened to Michael McDonald for 50 years. These guys kill me. The “Michael....Michael” in the beginning. 😳😂

I loved this so much. I and they danced through the whole song.
72 years old .... This guy can't not only sing but he has a unique soulful feel to his voice
can not only......
Miss it.
Me too.I'm 52 and this song will never fade, everyone who has had a break-up can relate to this song.
I grew up listening to Michael McDonald, he's incredible, can't ever mistake his voice
I was so glad to see you guys enjoy where the song came from …you are definitely the new men who can handle where music came from
Michael McDonald is a GOAT!
If you guys like Michael McDonald, you really like one of his best friends Kenny Loggins. In fact, Michael McDonald background for him on several occasions. Even Michael Jackson said he was influenced by Kenny and his singing style: Here's some of Kenny Loggins famous hits:

This is a skit. Look at the Nike shirt guy. He's slipped up 3 times when he starts singing along. He stops himself every time. He knows this song and the singer.
@@StacyMarshall-fj5mh cooorect ! This was a start of the replicating other music in the 90s . Using ALMOST the same back drop beat . Now we see todays artist steal the whole song and completly replicate it. Nate dogg nd warren G used the back drop in the 90s but Michael Mcdonald was the orginal creator in the 80 s.
Agreed!

The drummer on this recording is Jeff Porcaro, the most recorded studio drummer through the 70's, 80's and further...he was the drummer for the group Toto..Jeff and his Toto band mates helped write and played on the Thriller album for Quincy and Micheal Jackson... just a little background.. enjoyed the reaction guys!

This is it by Kenny Loggins. Even though McDonald helped write it, you definitely hear him in the backing vocals.

Yeah, it's great to know younger people like the music of an earlier time. I would be ecstatic if they visited the Grand Canyon and then listened to Ferde Grafe's Grand Canyon Suite. It is a true classic from the early 1900's. Grofe put to music what the eyes can see.

Michael McDonald is one of the best singers of all time. He can stand alone or sing back up and you can always pick out his unique sound!❤
You fellas make me appreciate even more being a teen in the 70's. They were good times!
Michael is one of the greatest lead singers AND one of the greatest backup singers.
I love how humble he is to be a backup singer. He is amazing.
I grew up with his music!!!❤
One of my favorite songs of all time! I’m only 38 but I was raised in a house where we only listened to what my parents wanted to… only old school. Earth Wind and Fire, DeBarge, old MJ off the wall, Gap Band, Frankie Beverly & Maze, etc
My own children were raised on this type of music too. They are now in their mid thirties and still listen to it. Great music has no age, race, colour, gender, religion or socioeconomic barriers. You were raised well! 😊
