Blue eyed soul Brother
Michael McDonald was also with Steely Dan for a while. He's outstanding!
What a voice and not too shabby on the keys either.
And those baby blues!
This is true
They really were magical
I love Michael MacDonald! He is the lead singer in this song. I like his solos "I Keep Forgetting. He did a great duet with Patti Labelle On My Own.
Yes he did change the Doogie Brothers sound.
Love it! He's also a very hot keyboard player as well!
Go back to the Doobies roots, Harri. This is Michael McDonald on lead vocals. after Tom Johnston - the Doobies heart and soul - had to rest from exhaustion and drug use, McDonald - their newest member - was there to fill the void adding his great vocals and giving the Doobies a different sound. Please check out China Grove, Listen To The Music, Long Train Running, Dark Eyed Cajun Woman, Rockin' Down The Highway, and Black Water for starters! Love your show and reactions!!
Truth.
He actually did most of those songs already. Check out his video library to find them. Spoiler alert: he loved them.
Both iterations of the Doob’s, the Tom Johnston years then the Michael McDonald years, are Hall of Fame caliber.
They went so far out of their comfort zone with McDonald that it created an entirely separate and unique Doobie Brothers sound...each as authentic as the best of them! Music Royalty!
Keep digging Harry you really going to dig these guys there's decades out there
Michael was so young...only 24 years old when he joined the Doobies...and he already had that voice.. My all-time favorite artist.
I highly recommend the song I Just Can't Let Go, that he did as a trio with David Pack and James Ingram. Your ears will be blessed!
This song was nominated for song of the year in 1979 but was beat out by.....the Doobie Brothers other smash hit song of that year What A Fool Believes.
Harri, I know you will love Michaels solo song "You belong to me".... heaven for your ears!!! He definitely added a special touch to the Doobie brothers while he was with them. Great reaction as always Harri 💕
Agreed! Great song 🎶🤟🏻✌🏻
Thanx..will check on it
@@HarriBestReactions Check out Michael's vocal help with Steely Dan especially "Peg" but there are others.
Harri love you show, especially the music of my days (70's).
THEIR EARLIEST hits were LONG TRAIN RUNNING and LISTEN TO THE MUSIC. Both were written by Tom Johnston
the first lead singer.
Listen to, Losen End by the Dobbie Brothers. Michael McDonald sings it and it's one of my favorite songs sung by him. It's from the album Taking It To The Streets.
The Doobie's 50 Year Anniversary had to be postponed due to the pandemic, but congrates to them - 50 years!!
Minute by minute by minute, such a catchy line. Its beat reminds me of a second hand ticking away on a clock.... minute by minute.
Yeah they honored tickets last year because of the pandemic. They are still awesome.
Michael McDonald wrote and sang with the Doobie Brothers
Been concerned about Michael McDonald. He has had to sit out their concerts because "He's been sick and isolating". The announcement came out and they said all members had been vaccinated. Haven't heard anymore but hoping he's doing ok now.
This is one of those songs that puts me back in the day whenever I hear it.
One of my favourite tracks!
Harri, at 7:18 or so, you were explaining your take on the song and said "maybe he's saying you might think I'm a fool now..." well, they got a song for that, a GREAT Michael McDonald song, "What a Fool Believes", with his lead voice and the boy's beautiful vocals backing him, it's an eargasm for sure. Thank's for your upbeat attitude, appreciation of music in general and for providing a warm and kindly atmosphere for us to camp out and enjoy some great music with you.
Thank you Harri!! Check out Michael McDonald with Patti Labelle "On MY Own"
Thanks for reminding me to go pull out their albums
The beginning was kind of a steely Dan kind of funk I love it man these guys are good
Michael McDonald is my all time favorite singer right behind John Farnham! 🤩 They're both so powerful, soulful & both have unique voices that you immediately KNOW who they are! Thank you, Harri!!! 🤗 I'm glad Michael McDonald is one of YOUR top 10. 😘
More excellent choices. He was with Steely Dan before The Doobie Brothers, check them out.
Also chk out the Doobies' " Takin' It the Streets" - its fire!!
Like grandpa used to say he could sing the phone book and it would sound good.
You have to watch Michael McDonald and Pattie Labelle 1986 duet; "On My Own". Prepare to be blown away by the two of them. He looks like a silver fox.
Have they performed it together live?
@@HarriBestReactions Yes Harri, there is an official music video for it 😀
@@realbser1956 I meant them actually singing live at a show.✌🏾
@@HarriBestReactions Harri- yes- on YT you’ll find Michael’s concert special from the 90’s with Patti, James Ingram , Kenny Loggins ( his occasional co-writer) plus many more guests!
A Gathering Of Friends is the concert and the whole show is available on UA-cam. Really good!
The Doobies featuring the Super Bad Mr Michael McDonald
I tell my hubby if Michael crooked his finger at me…But I’d tell him to just sing/talk with that buttery sexy voice! Yum! 🎶💙🎶💙🎶💙🥰🥰🥰
It sucks you in , they are my fave band , for sure 😃🤍🕊
Thank you
Thanks Harri ✌🏾🤍☯🌞🦜
Good stuff there Harri👍🏻✝️
such a fantastic intro!
Heyy Harri , nice to see again , I moved & still unpacking & working on decorating , so I haven't had time to get on UTube lately , I always come back to see you , I love The Doobie Brothers , all their stuff is great , thanks Harri ✌🏾👋🏼💗🤍☯🕊🐅🐾🐾🤗☮

@@HarriBestReactions thank you Harri very much , I love your reactions always , you're the best , I love my new place but I been working so hard & still so much to do but im taking a few days off , think I over did it lol , love & light to you always Harri 🙏🏽✌🏾🤍🕊🕯👋🏼🧸
Thank you Harri ✌🏾
React to “what a fool believes”. Love your reactions Harri!
Great band. Could take a rainy day and make it feel sunny. Not to mention the fact that doobie had that blissful effect. Peace love and smoke em if u got em.
You stopped it right before one of the greatest middle 8s in all of pop songwriting!
The Doobie's still perform and yes, it's all of them in concert so try to find them if they ever get out of the states.
Hardly a smoother voice anywhere!
Do a reaction to the Doobie Brothers Jesus is Alright with me, great song for the ages.
Done that already 🙂..Type Harribest Doo Bie Brotherw in your youtube browser..Cheers
Michael McDonald is one of the greatest artists/voices in the history of music… and Motown
I wish people would give up on the stupid "contest " of before Michael and after ..................the Doobies are one of the best rock groups of all time...period
Thankyou!!
Harry have you done any Hall and Oates? This song reminded me of them for some reason.
Now you’re reacting to my fantasy boyfriend- super talented singer/songwriter/pianist -keyboardist Michael McDonald!
Great song!
I can see myself in 8th grade, at the middle school graduation dance…. Harri, thanks for bringing this memory back to me!
MM is playin the fantastic Rhodes electric piano sounds on this one too!
I've got an artist I don't think I've seen you react to. Van Morrison. Maybe something like Into the mystic.
Sounds like Steely Dan.
The two different versions of the Doobie Brothers were both great, just different.
I'd like to suggest a song of their called Clear As The Driven Snow.
You want another of the Greatest voices in Rock or Soul, try anything by Lara Fabian . Start with Adagio and move on to Je Suis Malade with English translation !
Great analysis Harri!
Good tune and Michael’s. Lice is great though I prefer the Coobie Brothers zSound with Tom leading the way with their more southern and country rock style!
Could you react to some Bob Segar? Thank you from Wichita Kansas
Ok..ive done quite a few though..Type in Harribest Bob Seger in your youtube search
I've watched them. Been with you a long time.
Even though this is a good song, you have to listen to their early stuff with Tom Johnston as the lead singer......many great songs by the Doobies, but one of my favorites is Another Park Another Sunday
It Keeps Running is another good one with Michael on lead vocals, I’m more of a pre-Michael McDonald Doobie fan although you can’t Deny he had some really good songs with them although the band was headed in a different direction with him and they were successful and made it work and he does have a golden voice
It keeps you running is the title I meant to say
Living on The Fault Line album is immaculate not a song on it you can't listen to over and over
Harri- here are Mike and Patti duetting live- the entire show with many more guests like James Ingram and Kenny Loggins.

"Dependin' On You" is a better cut from this album
No, it's not sad.
You should listen to his MOTOWN HITS album . Great stuff made better .
Great song & Michael has a great voice but give me the Doobies with TJ anytime!
Do yourself a real favour & stick the Doobie Brothers Farewell Tour album on & listen start to finish, you will not be sorry!
