Yes so true. We humans also share a significant part of matching DNA with all organisms on earth [trees rocks and every animal/creature down to the lowly snail]. It's all just perception- we truly are all related. All made up of the same metal minerals and elements, just in slightly different proportions. We share over 50% DNA w plants/trees, 60% w insects, 80% w cows, 90% w house cats, 98% w chimps. And yes I am a science nerd.

Astute observation, lucas! Interesting to track other bands with two, or even three parts'n'sounds to their careers, to wit: Journey, pre- and post-Perry; Fleetwood Mac, before and after Buckingham/Nicks; Genesis, with Gabriel then with Collins, and the Roth/Hagar Van Halen iterations. There have got to be many others, but those come to mind most immediately. Again, good call!

Michael grew up in Ferguson, MO. He played in local bands with friends of mine in the late sixties. Takin' It to the Streets was inspired by an essay his sister Maureen wrote about racial disparities in the metro St. Louis area. This was written back in the early '70s. St. Louis has always been a divided city, more of a Southern city. BTW, Maureen McDonald can be heard doing the backing vocals on I Keep Forgettin' (We're Not in Love Anymore).

Saw him at the Hollywood Bowl last Summer and he still sounds good. His voice has aged and can't quite get where he used to but that's understandable seeing he's been doing it for so long. One of the most unique voices ever. As soon as he opens his mouth you know exactly who it is. So amazing.

One of the most talented bands in pop music history! I saw the Doobie Brothers in concert the Summer of 2021 perform "Takin It To The Streets", and these guys (now in their 70s) CRUSHED it! And the message of the song seems even more relevant now than it was in 1975.

Michael McDonald did a lot of background vocals for Toto and he toured with them over the years; I have seen many concerts with Toto and Michael McDonald. Michael McDonald has the record for performing more back-up vocals for so many bands, more than anyone else. He is fabulous still! So are Toto! :-)

Jemel_AKA_Jamal !!! Total classic. Michael McDonald goes from low to high( he is full of true soul and his sisters not in this video but “ I keep forgettin his sisters ( Maureen and Sara sing backup vocals when he left the Doobie Brothers ).He has written with Kenny Logins a lot, has sang with many artists one of my favorites he sings is with the late James Ingram live “ Yah Mo be There “. Thank you for music and reactions. I just recently joined some music video reactions and truly appreciate your channel. 👍🎶🔥💃❤️
