    While the term “superfood” carries a certain hype, some foods do earn that status. Food is medicine. And some foods are more powerful medicines than others! Food is the most powerful tool to create optimal health.
    In this episode of my new Masterclass series, I am interviewed by my good friend and podcast host, Dhru Purohit, about the power of using food as medicine. I also share five superfoods I frequently enjoy that you should also incorporate into your eating plan.

      @@RobertWadlow292 Tme, superfood means " nutritional density". Spirulina, an algae, is one of the highest in the world. That's why astronauts are given to it in space on a regular basis.

    I have worked 32 years as a pharmacy tech and seem so many prescriptions go out. I am completely convinced that Nutrition is key. Nutrition is medicine. Even today, masks and vaccines are not cutting it. We need to pivot to personal health.

    I have no gardening skills at all, yet even I can grow broccoli sprouts in my kitchen easily. You just need broccoli seeds (super cheap by the pound!) and big glass jars with a mesh lid to let water drain out without the seeds getting out. Basically you let the seeds sit overnight in the jars covered in water, then twice a day you fill the jar with water and drain it out (it helps to let the jars sit upside down at an angle to get the last bit of water). Keep them out of the light for about 3 days then put them in the window for a day and that’s about it. It takes about 4-5 days to grow a jar packed tightly full of delicious nutritious sprouts. No grow lights, no soil, etc. It’s super simple.

    I remember the first time, many years ago, I heard dr Hyman use the phrase “food is information for the body”. The phrase encapsulates everything that really needs to be understood and is still one of the most compelling statements. It totally changed my mindset about food, even beyond it being nutrition.

    Thanks for this great information. You should mention that you don't need to eat fish to get omega-3's in your diet. Go straight to the source and instead take an omega-3 supplement that is from algae, and in the process, doesn't harm the innocent living creatures in the oceans. ❤

      We eat them raw on salads and ferment them as well. They are great on oatmeal too. Westerners have lost the taste for sour and astringent foods and berries. Our taste has gradually shifted to crave sweet and savory and reject sour, bitter, sulpher and astringent foods (the healthiest foods in the world). The old folks knew how important it was to "eat our bitters".

      @Greg-cs8ky 2 роки тому +1

      Not sure that’s a reasonable request. The doc is not a grocery/supplement information aggregator. Some of this we have to do on our own. And it’s true that some of it is expensive. One of the amazing things about our food logistics systems is that it has made low nutrition calories readily available around the world. We feed people efficiently and economically, but not healthfully. Doing something about that requires perseverance and investment.
