If we made eating for optimal health a priority at every meal, we’d all be super healthy, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies would be out of business and processed food manufacturers would have to turn into farmers to survive. The problem with adopting a healthy diet isn’t that people don’t want to be healthy, the problem is that there are so many misleading and contradictory messages out there that even when you decide to eat healthy you’re still tricked into consuming sugar, chemicals, artificial coloring and everything else that causes metabolic disease and poor gut microbiomes.
So let’s just focus on the widespread messages that are common among several experts in the field and make at least one improve today to live a healthier and happier tomorrow.

I LOVE these videos because they are vignettes of multiple podcasts. I often listen to one segment at a time. They are usually 10-30 minutes long and then I pause it for later in the day or the next day. I glean pearls of wisdom from each segment and often go back and watch some of the original podcasts on a weekend or download them for a road trip. Please keep these coming Tom. You and your wife are absolute ROCKSTARS in my opinion!

12-years ago I found Dr. Li right after I was diagnosed with throat cancer (SCC type).
I ate exactly as he instructed and in the five and a half weeks from starting on the foods to when I began the traditional Cancer treatment of surgery, Chemotherapy, and Radiation the doctors had scheduled for me, the primary cancer site(remaining tonsil tissue) was clear of cancer, and the 5 lymph-nodes behind it that were full of cancer had shrunk by almost 30-percent. This triggered the doctors to review all the original scans and scan reports because they questioned the change in measurements. No errors were found.
We proceeded with the scheduled traditional treatment and I continued as much as I could with the foods from Dr. Li’s directives.
I am 12-years cancer free as of today. So I for one am going to say YES to eating this way.

So each expert has his/her own thing that he/she studies and so each one cites research showing that substance to be the biggest villain. High levels of (fill in the blank) have shown to increase mortality. They don’t mention that the study participants probably had 10 other things wrong. Now don’t get me wrong, I do love all of the information I get from this and other health related pod casts, but I’ve come to the conclusion that all things in moderation is the way to go. I do my best to limit white flour, sugar and processed foods. I lift weights and walk regularly and I lost 45 pounds in one year and feel great. It can be that simple. I fear that lots of people get bogged down in the avalanche of information out there( a lot of it conflicting) and don’t even try to make the better choices. It’s worth trying to do better and it’s never too late.

I think that's just an artifact of the complexity of modern science and nutrition. You can only be an expert in one tiny aspect of our bodies because the whole thing is just too complex. But luckily we get to stand on the back of scientific research and learn from each expert. I love this show. The single most important thing you can do for your health is to be a healthy weight. That's number 1. But after you get that sorted out, I think it's definitely interesting to learn about the science behind modern nutrition.

Hunter gatherers lived primarily on meat. It's only recent in human development to have a more agrarian lifestyle. The issue's with meat is due to grain feeding in factory farms, overcooking, drug additives etc. The attack on meat is purposefully slanted and too many take it at face value without considering how that animal was raised/cooked. It's really getting tiring. Eat organic, grass fed and finished meats and dairy, pasture fed poultry and eggs. Avoid factory foods when possible. Yes they cost more but they're also more filling and I'm sure there's some junk you could not buy to make up the difference.

Also it doesn't deal with the question of whether it's wrong to kill when unnecessary which is relative to different people. With that said in terms of suffering caused and quality of nutrition it's surely a lot better

Well I don't eat processed meat can we please separate the 2 and give me the evidence of just red meat only. Not red meat with a dinner roll not red meat with a hamburger bun, just a good healthy red meat. If he was doing the study why didn't he test red meat the same way he tested all these fruits and vegetables And fish that would have been a great way to say here this is how I can prove to you that eating red meat is bad I tested red meat as well and it has 0 beneficial factors to it in my study. Also to the above comment on the lack of sustainability with red meat... That is simply propaganda it can be done easily. Especially if we are supplementing with fish chicken pork And various hunted or caught wild meat. Stop growing corn and soybean answer ibin turn those Previous pasture lands back into prairie and pasture. Use CRP land. Stop allowing such wastefulness and in restaurants fast food and grocery store businesses. Stop shipping meat to other countries. You want to talk about sustainability it is not sustainable to make processed foods or or soda or candy that has 0 benefits to humans With significant amounts of resources Used to produce such as water and factories and plastics to make. You want to talk about sustainability let's talk about giant Houses you can find all across the US with more bedrooms than are needed. You want to talk about sustainability let's check everyone's closets and see the amount of waste in clothing and shoes that get bought and thrown away every year for the sake of a season or a new Look. You want to talk about sustainability let's talk about talk about damage Done by cruise ships yachts and airplanes. There is nothing unnatural about an animal grazing pasture that has been occurring for thousands of years as well as people eating That meat.

    • @persephone248
      @persephone248 Рік тому +5

USDA Organic means non GMO and a different set of rules on pesticides and herbicides. In most produce, a GMO variety doesn't exist yet so when you're buying organic you're buying for the different pesticide/herbicide rules. If you're trying to eat healthier but can't justify the cost of buying organic, its still significantly better to eat non-organic than just about anything from a box or bag.

@@persephone248 thanks for replying I just don't trust the government primarily because after I started juicing some years ago the government decided to allow the patenting of seeds and so now I don't trust anything they say because when you say that there are not genetically modified fruits and vegetables I really don't believe it. I will forever be non-trusting because seeds are patented. And another thing that caused me to just quit trying altogether is that some of the vegetables I like the most are allowed to be waxed and sold to us I was shocked when I found that out as a matter of fact anytime I attempt to eat healthy I get shocked by something new that I didn't know. Anyway I love the video I just feel powerless it's almost like you have to have your own land and grow your own stuff that's just my view I don't trust the produce areas in our stores.

@@blkheavyweight Yes, there are quite a few that are, but most aren't. GM brassicas do not exist, you may be mixing that up with hybridization and selective breeding which is a perfectly natural process occurring since before bio-tech existed. If it does exist, its not allowed for sale in the US. The only GM plants approved for the US are
      Yellow and Green Squash
      Soy
      Corn
Cotton (cotton seed oil for food)
      Papaya
      Canola
      Alfalfa
Sugar Beets (sugar that is not sold as pure cane sugar)
Ranger Russet, Russet Burbank, and Atlantic Potatoes
      Golden Delicious Apples
Sadly, some staples are in there, but as you can see, its far from the majority of produce with plenty of alternatives to the specific GM varieties, except for corn and squash. A few others exist but are not sold in the US.
