You mentioning how UA-cam very much does push right wing content reminded me of how many times I regrettably have ended up mindlessly scrolling through Shorts only to be shown transphobic videos from conservative creators despite the fact that I am literally transgender and have never shown even REMOTE interest in anything like that and having to just be randomly exposed to shit like that was incredibly hurtful
This has happened to me too! I got a short while scrolling of a conservative woman saying how the show Dead End: Paranormal Park is "pushing an agenda to kids" just for having a trans character and a bisexual character and it literally came out of nowhere and really hurt me tbh. Not only am I trans, and bisexual but I am also a huge fan of the show and watch tons of fan videos of it. Not to mention all the queer content creators I subscribed to

I've spent many, many hours "watching" Lofi Girl on UA-cam live. The music streams are great when you're working/studying. Usually there's like 40k people watching every morning so it's really popular. Honestly, I like these kinds of streams. I think of them like radio stations.
lowfi girl stream is excellent background music for livestreams too! my sibling sells crystals and paintings over tiktok live and lowfi girl and imagine dragons are the perfect background music for it

As someone who did gaming livestreams on here for the past few months, I can say it was kind of weak compared to other platforms. It was kind of fun having a smaller, more intimate group of regular viewers though.
Think I’m gonna move it over to Twitch whenever I pick it back up, like a normal human being.

It’s like a good 50% of my ads. Despite the fact that every time I get one, I click don’t show me this again (when that’s even an option 🙄). It’s very confusing and frustrating.

The amount of PragerU and Daily Wire ads I get is insane considering the type of content I watch. Also a surprising amount of Spanish language ads despite not speaking Spanish.

In my opinion, I feel like it's like this because UA-cam KNOWS they're not the main streaming site. Twitch is. I feel like they have this set up as a _just in case._ Like, just in case twitch fails all the way and all the streamers have to migrate to UA-cam THEN they'll start modifying and prioritizing the Livestream section of their site.

I love watching when my favorite UA-camrs go live but I only know they are live bc I am subscribed. Usually the audience is smaller and chat can be more interactive which I enjoy. I had no idea how hard it was to find new livestreams!
The right win content is so true. Right before the 2020 election, I was constantly being spammed with recommended ad videos for ClasicallyAbbey on stuff pertaining to "how to be a modest woman" or whatever her thing is

I hate UA-cam shorts so much omg, when you want to upload a video but it’s not long enough and it gets turned into a short
I watch tons of Lgbt content and creators, yet almost all the non-video ads i see on content like this are super homophobic and transphobic and are against almost everything I personally believe in. It’s honestly so sick that even though i surround myself with content like this I can’t escape people telling me that my friends and people I watch are sick monsters.

I actually love to watch streams on youtube. Except for the part where i have to find them. Its gotten to the point where i just have to subscribe to every streamer that i see and am like “hm maybe they’ll be fun to watch in the future”. The fact that one of my top “topics” on my home page is Vtubers (too much to explain just google the term if you dont know lmao) yet the entire topic itself has maybe 2 streams to show me is astonishing. For a topic based around a community of streamers its just filled with shorts and clips of their streams. Ik this is kind of just me complaining but its so frustrating

The biggest Vtubers in the world stream on UA-cam. YT also keeps stream VODs forever instead of 7 or 30 days like on Twitch, and they now have a better revenue split than Twitch. Discovery could be better, but you've ignored some of the biggest benefits. I've even streamed through both Twitch and UA-cam and get more viewers on YT.
i actually use the topics tags all the time bc it caters to stuff that i specifically watch and helps me find new creators that make similar stuff, maybe that’s just me but i think it’s super helpful for both viewers and creators

Hi. Idk, if you actually wanna know, but UA-cam shows you a short when you open the app if you watched a short while closing the app the last time, otherwise it shows you the regular homepage.
UA-cam Livestreams may suck sometimes, buttttttt last night i was watching a charity live stream and we managed to raise over a THOUSAND dollars for the Trevor project :) so that was fun.
The only lives I watch are the ambient sound ones…feeling attacked

Booktubers tend to use UA-cam live and i think it works for them because they go live so rarely and it's planned well in advance. I honestly think it's because they don't have a new for twitch and so doing UA-cam live works best for them. That's a niche though and probably the exception

My only guess as to why they show the stream with the lowest views first is because that's how UA-cam thinks that's how to best promote smaller channels and creators, which on the surface makes sense, but there's much more they should be doing to help small channels instead.
I did a quick tally of the UA-cam live now play list while watching this video and out of 97 live streams 16 are your average streamer. 35 are news streams (CNN fox CBC BBC). 35 are music stations ( 24/7 radio/lo-fi/sleep tunes ) and, 11 were spam ( like troom troom videos on loop ).
UA-cam Streaming is those useless channels you used to buy with your cable package that you never turned on unless you accidentally typed an extra 1 into the remote

I’ve seen some staged live streams the whole goal being to launder 100% anonymous only donations. The entire chat is like a coordinated clique spamming the same messaging the entire time.
Of course the Live tab only shows you streams that have already ended or have not yet begun: the damned souls in Dante's Inferno could only see the past and the future, never the present.
i think i actually prefer livestreams on youtube over twitch for youtube content creators (jake doolittle's are huge rn, noah samsen's are usually quite small and v cozy). i think the way they work aligns pretty well w how youtube works, being largely accessible only through subscription or recommendation. it feels more personalized... at least until you try to look for a new stream to watch..... (which i have never done). i'm happy youtube has livestreams bc i find twitch very overwhelming personally. ik that isnt the case for everyone though :) anyway that's my take
