I get why they would post them, but I wouldn’t want to be in the audience watching that happen all the time. Like a short audience interaction per show I could deal with, but the whole show shouldn’t be that. But once you encourage it and reply to it, more people will do it. The best choice for the show would be to not interact with a heckler at all, but then they wouldn’t get clips.

Steve Hofstetter (guy basically threatening to kick the sexist guy's ass) has also been posting heckler roasts for a while. I particularly liked that video (saw it forever on YT) because, yeah, it wasn't meant to be funny. He got genuinely mad at this dude for interrupting his show to be a straight up sexist asshole--AND THE GUY WAS WITH HIS DAUGHTERS (and wife maybe? I forget). Like tbh, I wish men didn't *have* to speak up on behalf of women to get other men to listen, but this interaction was genuinely satisfying to see. More dudes need to walk the walk to back up their talk and ACTUALLY stand up for women, rather than just providing lip service and folding when challenged about it.

Carlin was arrested for his "seven words you can't say on TV" bit. Jimmy Carr is a very mainstream character in the UK, known for his deadpan one liners, and how he roasts hecklers in very non-politically-correct ways.
And his laugh and looks _obviously_ , of which he his very self-aware: he defied standards and made it his bizarre and distinctive brand...which, in turn, has made him a TON of money.
I don't like his comedy, but I do respect him as a comedian.

It's like an unspoken thing, people go to his shows to get roasted in a way. Another thing I will mention in that regard is that Brits really respond to that kind of stuff differently than we do here in the US in my experience. The energy of a live comedy show is much different than what's translated via a recording of that live show. I'm sure it depends on the venue, crowd, and the comedian, but when I went to a local "underground" comedy show (just a bunch of local people pursuing comedy), it was one of the funniest things I ever saw. The energy was high and felt communal. I mostly remember this one guy talking about someone he knew dying recently and that affecting his job. It was heartfelt and hilarious, and I remember wondering afterwards if I would've thought it was so funny if I hadn't seen it live.

okay but I swear that I unintentionally saw the joker funko pop comedian guy in person once. my gf wanted to take me country dancing and we went to this western venue but apparently it was comedy night and I swear I remember saying something about his stupid joker shirt. Let's just say that two girls out on a date didn't take to his comedy very well and we just made fun of him in the back the entire time.

He said "how bout 'YOU' can talk in the parking lot right now" not 'we' ... the heckler misinterpreted it as a threat or challenge or whatever. The dude was literally in the middle of doing a bit standing up for women and has a track record of doing so and you lumped him in with a bunch of misogynists. Kinda lame.

In the UK, Jimmy Carr is one of the most famous comedians out here. I've always found him incredibly annoying and his laugh is something that for some reason people don't realise is fake???? Anyway back in like 2012 it was found out he was evading taxes and somehow he was still allowed to present incredibly popular panel shows and go on tour (jk I know why and it's bc if he was on a show after that the viewing figures skyrocketed). To me he's just a bit of a posh twat who got famous for being an edgy comic and idk why he's still popular at all 🤧

The culture has shifted on people who don’t pay taxes since I was a kid in the 80s my parents had some friends that go caught up with the IRS not paying taxes and I remember everyone else in their friend group looking down on them after that and kind of treating them like they were dirtbags.. fast forward to my 40s and everyone thinks tax evaders are just super smart people who have good accountants.. we really need to bring that back but sadly rich people set the cultural norms more then honest broke people do. People who don’t pay their taxes are like friends that go out to dinner and then when everyone throws in money to cover their part of the bill and then the last person counts it and it’s 30$ short and everyone swears they put in what they owed. Someone is robbing their own friends. It’s really quite scummy

Spent a lot of money to go to a Tom Segura show and 2 hecklers ruined at least 3 of his jokes between them, with multiple interruptions each. He did the comeback thing the first time for each and was just annoyed for any interruptions from them after. He even cut the show short because he was so annoyed by these people. I have no idea why hecklers don't get kicked out instantly. They ruin so many people's nights and like you said, it's nerve wrecking to experience in the audience.

Though seriously his laugh. What the hell?
