    as a former chipotle employee, that first tiktok order was literally the most average order i’ve ever seen. when you hit any entree button at the register, it automatically makes it chicken because that’s the most popular protein. the intern who commented that definitely never worked outside of corporate chipotle.

    i know someone from high school who, because of ads like these, actually thinks this is how people post and interact online. She has 39 followers I believe, and every instagram post she makes is formulated like an ad for some new seasonal product from a corporation brand like Tim Hortons or Starbucks. She's probably not aware of it and only wants to imitate an influencer lifestyle, but it's kinda weird how corporations are getting through our subconscious like that, just by people posting about them.

I have about 6 to choose from depending on where I am at the moment) the guys who work there have been there for years. Like, pushing a decade years. My guess is Jersey Mike's is doing something they feel is with staying that long for, otherwise the shop would be like the revolving door at all the other fast food places. while i agree with the tumblr thing, everyone is advertised to 24/7. when you watch tv, go outside and look at billboards, read magazines, etc. however, in all of those scenarios, 99% of the time you know what is an ad and what is not. companies like tiktok (and now youtube shorts) don't alert you when you are reading an ad due to the short form content that only lets you make 1 minute videos. that cannot be good and is actually illegal

    I really appreciate you talking about this. I work at Crumbl and tiktok plays such a large role in its advertising. We frequently have people come in filming, or they will tell us they are going to make a tiktok later. I have nothing against these people, but you have so many people out there and I'm sure a decent portion of them are paid to do it. At the same time though Crumbl fights to keep its franchises at minimum wage with minimal breaks. I am fortunate that I have really amazing managers, but they have no power. We get $10 an hour at my branch because the owner of our store fought for it, but it's still not much. And a lot of other locations are doing a bait and switch where they promise 15 and once they have enough employees they drop it down to minimum. I work 40 hours a week and even then it's not enough to afford rent. • @JasminMiettunen
      @JasminMiettunen Рік тому +11

      I think it’s because when the memes are good, people assume it’s a young person, interns are usually young people, and when the memes aren’t “company friendly” people assume it was by someone more random, like an intern. They think a long term stable employee couldn’t come out with “Sunny D is suicidal” material. When the memes are old and cringy, nobody talks about interns, they talk about old corporate people then. They do probably actually hire young people for the job most of the time, though.

  • @babynium

    I want to emphasize that these are not "poor social media interns" these are deliberate decisions by high paying social media managers. One thing I think is really important to note when talking about corporations online: these accounts aren't run by tired zoomer interns. Online advertising is a massive market, and corporations pay entire teams of people to come up with and manage their social media (people who went to college for advertising and do this as their career). Don't hold back criticism of these accounts for fear of hurting the feelings of some intern. There is no intern. Whenever a corporate account says "I" or pretends to be one person, know that is literally just a flat out lie, and we need to start treating them as what they are: a corporate tool, and not a person.

    for me personally, i eat chipotle really frequently, like usually once a week, because it’s really hard for me to try new foods and also to put in the work to home-make food. between the autism, depression, and eating disorder, it’s overwhelming to even think about making my own food. and buying groceries is like hell for me. sometimes i eat chipotle bc it’s the only thing i feel able to eat. sometimes it’s too overwhelming to try to eat something else, so i get chipotle or taco bell or some other “bad” fast food bc it’s better to eat something than nothing. that’s just me tho okay bye
