In the 90s those trucks were done in every way from drag racing to low riders to fast cruisers with crazy sound systems plus you can’t forget the Typhoon and the Cyclone but I haven’t seen an s10 done like that in a while but I see them drag built pretty often still. Awesome truck, brings me back to my blazer days. Once again an awesome video
I watched this video 3 times. I still have my 93 Gen 1 S10. Nino has great taste. That truck is freaking awesome. I wouldn't call it dated, I would call it classic. The lines are simple and awesome. These are the nicest looking trucks of all the mini trucks. The cars of today are made out of foam and plastic. Beautiful truck!
Nino does have great taste. By dates I was referring to some of the choices as they were done quite a while ago. No knock as I think it’s a total badass!!
The irony is, even with no cats it probably runs cleaner than that 2.8 V6. Absolutely love the s series from this Era, I had a 1987 s10 blazer 2dr with a 2.8 and 5 speed. Was a great truck! I bought it for $150 and it was passed around my friends for years. These trucks were really cool! Small, but still a ladder frame and will fit a small block v8. Always thought these trucks drove very well! Always a special place in my heart for the s series trucks. Unfortunately, this size truck I think we will never see again with a full ladder frame...
I have a near mint/stock 1993 gmc sonoma s10 4.3L my grandpa left me when he passed (about 50k miles) and I have sworn I’ll keep it stock no matter what but man - this is the FIRST s10 I ever said - I may have to move on and clone this truck! Absolutely sick. Every single thing - but I’m in Florida - a/c is absolute must. Thx for the vid! Absolute beauty.
I love those S10's. Reminds me of high school. A few of my friends had these trucks. The 4.3L ones were quick. The 2.5L and 2.8L ones were turds though. Most of them got V8 swaps. My one friend had a green one single cab short bed, 2.5L 4-cyl w/ auto. We put a cowl hood on it, wheels, tint, debadged it and smoothed it out. Put a shift kit in it so it would chirp 2nd gear. Looked great but was slow. Decent for pulling his lawn mower trailer around for his business. I've always wanted to LS swap one myself.
I LOVE this generation of S10! I had 2 of them over the years. The first I bought new in 93 the last year of this body style. Extended cab, 4.3 V6 5spd manual. Added true dual exhaust with Flowmasters, a Whipple supercharger, pulley kit and custom tune. Was getting 270hp on the dyno. At 270, it was scary fast, nearly uncontrolable if i stood on it. I couldnt imagine 600hp! Traded it in later for a 92 GMC Syclone, factory turbo all wheel drive with independent rear suspension. It had similar hp stock, advertised at 280, never tested it. Although the Syclone handled much better with the high hp, it was a huge mistake swapping the S10 for the Syclone. Lost the space behind the seats, and because of the rear coil spring suspension, I couldnt tow my boat or haul anything over 500lbs in the bed. There was a huge yellow warning sticker in the tailgate stating no more than 500lbs. But it sure looked bad-ass.
Ultra cool. And call it “sleeper” it’s hard... At least untill you hear the thing started up. What a sound! Even at the traffic light you can understand that it’s better don’t mess with it.
I'm a Mopar guy but I'm also a truck guy. So this gets my approval for sure. I'm building my truck by myself right now and I can only hope that my 97 Dodge 1500 will half as cool as this LS-10
I had an ‘85 with a 350 ‘Vette engine which looked totally stock. It was an absolute giggle blowing away unsuspecting “fast cars”. Dual exhaust pipes where the only clue....traded it for a cool little 4Runner when I moved to snow country...still miss it!
I've watched this video at least a dozen times and I still love to watch this beautiful 1st Gen S10 pick-up. The whole thing from interior to the paint and rims just screams beautiful and fast. Whoever built this truck did a hella good job doing it. I want to build a truck just like this one but I know it's going to take 30,000 dollars or more to do it right the first time especially with an interior like this one has. It is just enough mods to make it look fabulous but not over modded.
I’ve watched this video a bunch of times myself and it never gets old to me! A V8 S10 has been a “one of these days” obsession of mine for about 15 years. However, I came across a 79 El Camino first. So the Elco is taking up time space and money for now and is a cool and unique vehicle. Far more unique than an S10. But probably not nearly as much fun to drive as a little truck with a big motor! I’m not picturing anything outrageous. Just a strong LS in the 400hp range and not too “cammy”. Firm, low, sporty suspension sitting on nice wheels and tires around 17-18 inches. Nice paint. One color, nothing wild. Clean, nearly stock interior with simple, stealthy stereo. Oh, and fairly loud exhaust. I just wanna build a little “fun machine”. I think “one of these days” is quickly approaching!
This is a beautiful truck in every regard, inspiring video to watch when for the most part it's showing me exactly how I should expect my 94 Sonoma Ext Cab to run when it hits the road next spring. Parts wise my truck has everything there minus the trans and converter, it will have a 4L80E in it with controller. Engine is a 398 ci. stroker based on a Dart block that dynoed 641 hp@6400 and 560 ft lbs.@5700 with a progressive Nitrous Express 400 system feeding into the mess if needed. Come spring 2022 I expect to be enjoying driving my Sonoma as much as our host is enjoying driving his friends S-10.
Sixgunner dot org fourdoor Colorado but short bed is longer than older two door long beds for sure, bout the same width. The C10s have a little more interior space without side curtain airbags and big side bolstered seats and console but outside it was same or smaller and more usable than a new truck to me. If you got a four door square body it might be a little longer but noticeably more room everywhere still and a nice V8. New Colorado has a new Malibu, aka Camry wannabe lookin bumper on it, and they’re fat.
Right! There's mass confusion on UA-cam as to what a sleeper is... I got tired of explaining it repeatedly to deaf ears. Some even argue that heavily customized vehicles can be sleepers....Oddly i think people just like saying the word.
A timeless recipe: Take an old under-powered, rather uninspired everyman's vehicle and stick a whopping big engine in it! Brakes too, if there's any money left. Anyone selling a mid-80's S10? Because a whole bunch-a people just got inspired!
Love Ninos build, the attention to detail is spot on. And with that drivetrain not only makes fun and a blast to drive. I'd be more than happy to daily it ;) . Sounds killer to. Let's see more S10s
Not a sleeper, I would know that’s not a normal car by looking at it. The rims, the paint-job, the interior. Come on, this is just too easy to spot. (Also the cal-tracs which are visible)
Yeah. Sleeper in the sense of not a radical modded custom. Looks like an S10 with wheels pulling up on it. Once you hear it, see the interior it’s game over.
When people got this good of a combination into a vehicle ( truck.) They should put it into a plan ; a kit and share them with the masses. Beautiful & amazing S-10 you have sir. Thanks for the video.
And he’s recently done some more to it and I’m hoping to shoot the update cause it got even better with a different tire set up (more meat) and better suspension set up
I love it. I've got a 92 I'm gonna start rebuilding soon. I'm keeping the stock 4.3 but I'm gonna bore and stroke it then add either a turbo or centrifugal supercharger on it. I wanna make at least 400 at the wheels with a V6. It will be a long shot but I think it can be done. If I need to ill go to a newer LS style 4.3v6 and go that way. But I want to go carb if possible. Then I want to swap to a 5-6spd Tremec. I think it would be a great road racer build.
Some people just go by what they have been told. Some don't know what a LSX is or a LSA. They just say it because it's cool or they think it's the Best of the Best..lol
I think that is a pretty cool build. It's all subtle small details to the time era of the truck. I have always been partial to the S series. Cool build. Nice video
What's the final cost on something done like this? I have an 84' that's been in the family for now 3 generations and I'd like to do upgrade of a murdered out version of the same style build
The motor alone is upwards of 20k. Seat probably $500-$1,000. Currie 9in around $2k. Then go from there. Without labor I would estimate $35k on the high end. Add labor and that's probably $45-50k
At 5:53, there was a mention of a spoiler on the truck. Was that referring to the stock front valance under the front bumper? I don’t see a spoiler on it at all.
This video 100% inspiration. I also got a free 85 S10 a few years go. Single cab but mines a long bed 4x4. This video made me put some quality into my interior to really wake it back up and make it nice. Paint comes next year and now I kind of want to do a 2 tone. I plan to swap in a built 4.3 and 5 speed as I don't know engine swapping like the pros but a 4.3 with 200hp is plenty for me
I plan on doing this after I sell my K5 Blazer, but I'm going to use a lq4 or lq9 instead because they're cheaper but are iron block so I can boost it heavily later on.
I was wondering if you have a parts list for your build? Im going to be doing this and I bought the conversion book, but it would be easier with a parts list of what you used?? Let me know. Thanks
I love that truck! I have a 92 S-10 with a 383 in it with a Chris Alston's Chassisworks back half, 4 linked with 373 gears, and airbagged. I just need to finish the front suspension, and rims/tires
When I put my '93 back together in a few years, I plan to do something similar to this one, albeit with a turbo junkyard LS, T56, and a 4 link with some suspension/chassis work. For those curious, my build should run $35-40k in parts. Seeing this one in action is pretty inspiring.
man I've been looking at these for years, but people seem to say otherwise at first but now they see the potential. In my opinion this is the only S10 that looked good to me out of all the years, the style is contemporary to me. My only gripe is that he should've keep the stock grille cause everything else is something I would do.
Beautiful Truck, Love these Trucks & Blazers, I'm building a 1984 S10 Blazer, I built a 1995 S10 last year so I figured I'd build a Blazer 4X4 this year!
if I had money to rebuild my 89, I think I might wanna go with a motor like that this time. Not that the the 8 previous old school v-8's I 've had in it weren't badass, but I never ever played with any LS engine ever, and I would love to try one.
More sub $100k builds, please. Kinda new to the channel and really enjoy it. A load of amazing halo builds on the channel but really like the obtainable/fiscally responsible builds.
I put a vortec 6.2 under the hood of my s-10 last year, got the basic LS mods and nitrous, not sure what trans i have for it,my friend hooked me up with a free one from his shop,my guess is a built 4l60. It will need a lot more work, but it rips

Huge fan of sleepers and cars and trucks you random don't see this truck is beyond cool why spend hundreds of thousands on cars when you could just go to the local used car lot they got some cars dirt cheap and you can make something you really love👍🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
You can have a zr-1 engine(drivetrain)in it and still pass smog as long as you have all the smog components untouched and installed when you go to get it bar’d. Must provide proof of donor car I believe.
What if any details can you give on the suspension cause I have a ‘89 I got from my father when he passed and I would love to lower mine just like that that ones just like I want mine to sit.
Dennis didn’t have any great answers. He tried a few different springs to try and made it work. Cut the axle as well to have the stance without rub. He didn’t remember how much they cut. They build a lot of cars.
Hey man absolutely love the build for sure thing is sweeet. I am currently in the process of building a 4.3 L for my 89 s10. Any recommendations on the best place to look for parts interior ect? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks for your time and keep the videos coming🤙🏼

This one is done really well. You can just cruise it and when you stand on it there’s a lot of hp to make it insane mode quickly.

One of my favorite truck body styles. Wish they still made small trucks. The Colorado is the same size as the old C10s now but without the V8.

I was never interested in one of these trucks until I saw this one. My uncle recently gave one and I think it has promise.
if I had money to rebuild my 89, I think I might wanna go with a motor like that this time. Not that the the 8 previous old school v-8's I 've had in it weren't badass, but I never ever played with any LS engine ever, and I would love to try one.
This thing with this set up is a blast to drive!
They're easy. Just get a LM7(iron block ls) from a Silverado and get a cam/tbss intake/headers and you'll be making 350whp
I love the dated look of this truck. It makes it unique. Beautiful machine..
And he’s in process of more upgrades currently. Very cool S10
What color is that blue? I want to paint mine dark blue and I think that color is beautiful.
This is one badass S10 pickup man.
Such a badass! So much fun to drive too.
Nino is the MAN. Great show.
He is!!
You guys are in the valley? Freaking sweet! I see you crushing down San Fernando road 😝🤘
You deserve more subs but keep up the work love the video's too
Thanks and we’ll keep em coming I promise.
@@AutotopiaLA welcome
Bad ass little truck love it
Thing is super tame and functional almost stock interior, he’s like this thing is a total drag truck...
Nino for president! He has very fun toys!
He really does
would like to get this same seat made for my s-10. Any chance you can find out who he used?
Owners info is in the description of the video
More sub $100k builds, please. Kinda new to the channel and really enjoy it. A load of amazing halo builds on the channel but really like the obtainable/fiscally responsible builds.
I have a 1988 GMC s15 high Sierra with a Ford built 302 very fun truck looks great as well love the video bad ass truck
Glad you liked the video. Sounds like you have a cool one too
I’m in California too and have a 91 that I want to restore. How did he drop that engine and still pass smog?
Sweet content once again shaun thanks
That's a bad ass truck!!
Nino strikes again ! Fkn bad ass. I get to the west coast I'd like to buy him a beer.
He’s such a cool guy. And has more toys coming soon.
That is not no sleeper, that is ON FIRE!
Nino coming in clutch again. Nino's, Jay-Leno's adopted brother.
😂😂
Did the highest speed change since there was a new motor
Do you mean does it go faster than the original 6 cylinder motor?
Yes
That is a sweet truck. Would have kept the stock grille though. Just doesn't look right from the front, but the rest of it is amazing.
Such a blast to drive
Very nice little truck look good
And it moves. Fast little S10
It looks great but how do you pass California emissions tests ??
nice video my brother it sound beauitful
Thank you and yeah, it sounds and drives really good. Pulls for days!
It's such a sleeper they should have named it "insomniac ".....also how did he get it to pass smog?
😂 insomniac 😂😂
Absolute beast!! Love the name, But I would have done LSX....x is roman for 10.
I put a vortec 6.2 under the hood of my s-10 last year, got the basic LS mods and nitrous, not sure what trans i have for it,my friend hooked me up with a free one from his shop,my guess is a built 4l60.
It will need a lot more work, but it rips
Dont even know what trans you have yet you think its a "built 4l60"....yeah thats a big no. A 6.2 ls would grenade a 60e
MUY BUEN TRABAJO LES QUEDO HERMOSA ESA CAMIONETA S10. SE NOTA QUE LE INVIRTIERON MUCHO TIEMPO Y ESFURZO. . EXELENTE VIDEO YPRESENTACION, MIS FELISITACIONES AL SEÑOR DE AUTOPIA LA POR LA PRESENTACION SALUDOS¡¡
I agree completely
What type of motor mounts are you using an exhaust manifold?
Oh man, that truck looks bad ass,I do own a 87 red one,how can I get a hold of nino, plz let me know ASAP and thanks 🙏
His info is in the description
AutotopiaLA thanks
Love this truck. Is it for sale
That is a Kool s10 can you please tell me the size of tires for the front and rear thank you
It’s an awesome truck...and ya not thinking an lsx under the hood...that is sleeper..lot a s10’s round that era look like that..cool find..
How did you register this in California?? It's not old enough to be smog exempt..
It’s just an ‘85 S10. Don’t know how it gets smogged but I’m sure there’s guys that handle it.
AutotopiaLA ok I completely understand that doesn’t hurt to ask though
Absolutely
Belltech makes awesome lowering systems for these trucks I believe
Used to have a 91 s10 my mom rolled it on the freeway (not her fault, and she was fine) I still miss the truck.
I love what Nino did with this one. Just a blast to drive!!
Awesome pick-up, really a big monster, congrats man, greetings from Brazil.
Thanks! Such a fun truck to drive. Burnouts with 0 effort.
Love this !!!
Super nice little truck!
Such a blast to drive!
That is one bad ass S10 ..
Right?! Fun to drive. Really fun.
Hey man absolutely love the build for sure thing is sweeet. I am currently in the process of building a 4.3 L for my 89 s10. Any recommendations on the best place to look for parts interior ect? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks for your time and keep the videos coming🤙🏼
Really nice s10 truck, that's what I looking for,
It’s a fun one for sure. Runs hard
