Over all my years of practice, I have found that almost all carpal tunnel symptoms do actually come from the neck. Correcting an irritated disc by adjusting one or more of the lower cervical vertebrae from an anterolateral direction almost always relieves numbers, tingling and pain in the fingersthe same day. I wish more chiropractors knew and implemented this adjusting technique - nothing beats it.
I am experiencing difficulty of gripping pen to write, feeling wrist cracking or grinding. What type of disease causes this symptoms and the medical name ?
I developed bilateral double crush syndrome 10 years after neck manipulation during general anesthesia. Neurology defers to hand specialists. Hand specialists either want to cut right away or they defer to neurosurgeons. No one has taken the time to explain it like you did here. Thank you. It would be so nice to get some relief.
There are a few things for treating carpal tunnel syndrome at home Do stretches - the pain is casued by tension in the nerve Seek expert advice as it can lead to permanent damage (I learned these and why they work from Dariks pain destroyer website )
Had this for 3-4 years. Had 2 shots, then went to a specialist who refused to give another shot. Said it was double crush. Went to physical therapy and stopped using my phone in bed at night- it helped. Then went to a chiropractor, adjusted my neck and ribs and the pain DISAPPEARED INSTANTLY.
@@antar1485 Chiropractor helped me as well, after adjusting neck and spine. Unfortunately he hurt my hand though and have new problems. Don't let them pull on hands.
@@antar1485 If it went away that gives me hope, I wasn't sure if it could go away after a long time and I've had it for almost a year. Thank you for the suggestion
I had symptoms at night that at its worst point, felt like my arm was in boiling water. Through all kinds of PT, antiinflamatories, x-ray, MRI and so on, I finally was sent to pain management where they did an epidural injecting prednisone directly into my neck (I had compression of the nerve at C6-C7). What a life changer! It cleared up the symptoms. That relief lasted over a year and allowed me to spend time doing things to figure out some of the lesser symptoms. After an EMG & nerve conduction survey, it was determined that I also had severe carpal tunnel in my hand. 2 days ago I got the endoscopic CT release surgery. Because I wanted to watch a procedure, I just happened upon your video today as the “up next” video. OMG - you explained things so well to me and it makes total sense. Now I understand why when things were “fixed” I was still having numbness/pain in my hand. It seems I probably have more work to do to loosen my shoulder and neck so I can be back to pain free life. You have given my great hope to feel good again. Thank you for the thorough and clear explanation with imagery.
Probably the best educational video about this issue I've found. Making sense of the issues we experience is SO important for us patients. I have exactly this (aided by poor posture due to having scoliosis) and after some failed treatments, I finally found someone competent who is addressing the issue as you describe and felt almost immediate relief after the first session. I'm currently doing a combination of chiro, physio, IMS, and a bunch of exercises and stretching at home to improve my posture and strengthen my muscles. Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
It truly is amazing that given the number of people using technology these days that the best we can do is carpal tunnel surgery. It's shameful how hard it is to get any kind of real answers for something that I know has to be extremely common.
Just diagnosred with carpel tunnel syndrome wearing btace on both hands now from today on would u think brace will help dont want to loose my job as i got chronic nerve back pain 2
I went to physical therapist at Polyclinic Seattle and Dynamic Chiropractor Seattle many times. No one understood what I'm trying to explain. I tried to explain my hand weakness and neck tightness, pain are related. They made it worst. Thank you so much for explaining this. I can fairly relate to what you are trying to explain. Thanks a tons for making this video.
I’m going through the same right now. The was too much last week that i ended up in the emergency ward now my family want me to do EEG to be sure it’s not something else. I’m 💯 sure this video explains what is wrong with me.
I have struggled with explaining my neck injury and hands burning...arms numb...and neck with limited motion. They have all dismissed me and said its carpel tunnel get a brace or let me do surgery. No one has done any tests at all. THANK YOU.
FINALLY, I would wake up with my 3 fingers numb. I could not just move my wrist and massage forearm to get feeling in my fingers again. I would have to actually get out of bed and move around in order for the numbness to go away. I have had neck/shoulder issues for years. In the last 4 months I have really been working on getting my house ready for sale and this is when suddenly I noticed I now have carpel tunnel/tendonitis. I kept thinking “I wonder if my neck shoulder issues are contributing to this carpel tunnel/ tendonitis feeling. Like I said I have had neck/shoulder issues for years but NEVER have I had problems with my forearms/fingers going numb/ thumb muscle weakness. I am SO HAPPY and RELIEVED I CAME ACROOS YOUR VIDEO. THANK YOU!!!
THIS!! i can actually feel the problematic points in several points of the median AND ulnar nerve trajectory, cervical area, pectoralis minor and elbow, triceps and elbow. it's just difficult to find specialists open enough to understand this.
My EMG/NCT pin pointed my carpal tunnel. The test wasn’t that bad, don’t scare people on that test. I found it very educational and interesting. My test was conducted due to moderate central canal and foramen stenosis. Along with dull intermittent arm pain and daily hand numbness. Great educational video btw.
I had a lot of these issues along with what i can only decribe as weak feeling legs. My GP diagnosed me with carpel tunnel. I waited nearly 3 months to see a specialist and by this point i could barely walk. I was sent for an MRI and 5 days later i was told i had severe spinal cord compression. I was immediately sent for emergency surgery. I can now walk again but suffer a lot with chronic nerve pain and muscle spasms due to a damaged spinal cord. Please don't ignore these symptoms because before you know it it's too late to treat
A few years ago, I began competitive golf after a layoff, and my back was incredibly tight. I figured it would go away it did not. And then completely transformed my entire fascia system, spontaneously, and intuitively over the course of about eight months. I’m quite certain no one has gone through what I’ve done. Now my spine is very mobile as well as my back and I frequently, go, numb in my fingers and my hands. I simply adjust my position and self adjust my spine a little bit and feeling comes back immediately. It’s not concerning at all. I just woke up from a nap with a thought. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a symptom. And it is absolutely caused by misalignment of the lower, cervical and upper thoracic spine. You’re welcome.
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! Thank you! I'm having problems in all of those areas. Aching in my neck, my shoulder down my arm down to the outside of my thumb where now I have lost all feeling.
when i has my nerve conduction test done a couple months ago, I felt like I was being electrocuted. my entire body jolted each time they zapped me. i was SUPER sensitive to it. 😩 it was awful!! I DON'T recommend NOT getting it done, BUT it can be very unpleasant for some people. the good news is, it's over fairly quickly.
Agreed. First spot was like "whoa", because the doctor didn't say when he was starting. Didn't hurt at all. The needles are so tiny, you can't feel them...and I hate needles.
Ive been to two different doctors, a chiropractor and my local(probably underpaid) masseuse. The masseuse was the only one who hinted at this very problem. I train a lot and I think the muscles in the neck and shoulder are all balled up.
Great summary!! The way "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome" is diagnosed in the conventional medicine context is ridiculously oversimplified. Thanks so much for getting to one of the possible/likely root causes! It took me months of my own research and digging, in attempt to self-treat, to connect the dots between my chronically tight scalenes and pecs, and my recent diagnosis of carpal tunnel syndrome on BOTH arms, all compounded by bicep tendonitis (distal attachment) on one side, which I suspect is further compressing the ulnar nerve. I'm a 34 year old athlete (female, with a very "thin and long" neck) who also has a physically active profession, so this diagnosis is at a relatively young age. Reason being, the points illustrated in this video! Well done :)
Great video, very well explained! I might suggest toning down the fear-mongering on the nerve conductivity test, however--I've had two of them and it really wasn't that bad. I would hate for someone to be dissuaded from seeking out definitive nerve conductivity results because they heard that it was "the worst test ever." Keep up the good work!
Yeah I've had a EMG and it wasn't bad. The best way to compare it is it's in between acupuncture and dry kneedling. Dry kneedling is much worse and acupuncture is very similar.
TODAY my doctor recommended a gymnasium rowing machine to exercise & stretch the upper shoulders for potential double-crush symptom which I seem to have.
Let’s see I fell and broke my neck in 2017 where I damaged the disc betweenC-4 C-5. I had to home emergency surgery 10 minutes later as I was completely numb from the neck down from my upper thighs down I was completely numb that you could squeeze my legs and I did not feel a single thing until they turned the right big toe up and scream bloody murder, because it hurt. Knowing that they could’ve hurt me, but didn’t matter they just wanna make sure I felt pain. Well I had the surgery done, in 2018. It’s now 2024 and I have to have the surgery again and it was new right about the six year mark that I would need it again that’s why I had to see a neurosurgeon. So we are slowly putting it off as long as I can handle everything until next year. But in the meantime, you noticed that I’m numb completely from my upper left shoulder down to my fingertips and then I get the sporadic loss of grip and everything in both my hands. I get the numbing and tingling sensation Campos my arms in my hands but I feel like they’re on fire. So my neurosurgeon suggested an EMG to find out what’s going on with hernerve in the neck being compressed or anything else. Baltimore that I have severe bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome and I’m going to be having surgery in a few weeks.
As a guy with bilateral carpal tunnel and at least double crush, this is invaluable. I developed symptoms two years ago. I even had the nerve conduction test. My experience was that it wasn’t that bad.
This is a great video explanation. I believe I have this problem on both sides however its more persistent on my right side then my left side. Thank You for explaining
Excellent presentation! What you are describing is exactly what I have..both of my wrists go numb when I go to sleep and wake up immediately. I also have a stiff right shoulder with lesser mobility which based on what you you are describing is probably coming from the neck. The surgeon recommended to do surgery on both of the wrists at the same time, but I waited for surgery and I tried putting a pillow higher in bed. I don't get the tingling any more so long I sleep on my back with a hogher pillow.Where can I go to get the treatment you are referring?I live in Miami.
Omg this makes sooooo much sense to me. I’m having carpal tunnel surgery next Thursday on my left hand. But my Dr said there’s a possibility it originated from my neck, because I have cervical stenosis. I had lumbar stenosis. Had the surgery and it was a success. But I’m just not ready for neck surgery. So hopefully carpal tunnel surgery will help. Great video. Thanks!
I have carpal tunnel syndrome for 17 years, I couldn't even hold a paper & I had a cortisone injection that time, and I feel fine for 13 years till I have a bulging disc on (c5, c6, c7). Your explanation makes sense why my carpal tunnel syndrome is back, and I have pain on my forearms + numbness on my index + middle finger😞, any day & night. Thank you for your information🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I've had ulnar nerve decompression without transposition in both arms. Had left hand carpal tunnel surgery this morning, right hand last month. I did get alot of relief, however I have cervical degenerative disc disease advanced osteoarthritis and still have pain down both arms. I'll be getting the anterior discotomy and fusion by end of year. I go in 2 weeks for an endoscopic rhizotomy in my lumbar spine. The neck and back can cause crazy pain in crazy place.
Been having visible hand cramps no burning no tingling for weeks. Along with neck pain on the left side. I’m a musician and I lift weights. Thought the neck pain was related to shoulder shrugs at the gym. Many thanks
My chiropractor stated that because of my occupation, truck drivers are mostly due to posture and the way our shoulders are positioned while gripping the steering wheel.
Thank you! Was having carpal tunnel symptoms of numbness, tingling, burning, which awakened me every night. Family doc said Carpal Tunnel. I decided to go to chiropractor first before considering surgery. After he adjusted my neck and spine the symptoms went away!
Sidenote for those seeing chiropractor for CT symptoms- Yes, the manipulation of neck and spine helped. However, he unfortunately pulled my hand too hard and suddenly have a sharp pain at the radiocarpal joint that I didn't have prior and has not gone away for months and very painful to move hand from a straight position. So now trying a splint. So I highly recommend neck and spine adjustments BUT I won't let them touch my hands again.
I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel about 30 yrs ago. I quit work (secretary) lots of typing. I did not want the surgery. I have not been bothered by it very much. If I ride a bike my hands go numb within 10 minutes because of leaning forward a little holding onto my handlebars. If I did a lot of weeding I may have trouble. It it has not been much of a problem through the years. For the past 5 years I know I needed to have surgery on my shoulders but never had time for the recovery process so did nothing. Twenty years ago I fell and dislocated my shoulder for the second time, while waiting for my surgery I tripped over an uneven sidewalk covered with snow I was walking by a big window pane of a restraint so I threw out my arms to save myself but did a lot of damage to my shoulder which was going to have surgery. My Do for said I have the same damage as a pro baseball pitcher. I had 5 things repaired including torn rotator cuff. WELL, both of my hands are being bothered by carpel tunnel this past 4 weeks. I think it has to do with my right shoulder which I will be having shoulder replacement done. The. -rays show I have a lot of arthritis in my shoulder, the ball end is in bad shape and I am bone on bone. I had NO TROUBLE WITH MY HANDS UNTIL MY SHOULDER WAS GIVING ME A LOT OF PAIN. Two weeks ago I found if I could get my arm in the right position my hand started to feel Normal. It within a minute it was hot full of darting needles everywhere in the types of all my fingers, and even sleeping with the brace in the morning the pain was unbearable I. OULD TOUCH NOTHING HURT MY BONES, I COULD NOT PICK ANYTHING UP THE PAIN WAS UNBEARABLE. I tried to tell the surgeon who is going to do my shoulder that I think it comes from my shoulder area because you can feel it shoot down my arm into my hand in seconds. He wants me to do that test for carpal tunnel and I have done it I. The past. Will it show that it is coming from my shoulder area by the speed you were talking about? There is also a spot in my back next to my spine which cane set it off and if I roll on a tennis ball it will release the numbness and pins for a short time. I am all of sudden falling apart. I have Osteoporosis and had to take complete care of my husband for about three months. He was very sick and when they put him in the hospital he got what they call HOSPITAL SYNDROME. The minute they rolled him into his room. He had immediate alzheimier’s . I had to do everything the. My son was in a Head on collision and broke his pelvis and hip etc. this led to 3 of my vertebrae collapsing and discs underneath being compacted. And a vertabrae fracture plus more L1 through S1 are not is good shape. Maybe that had something to do with that spot in my back that send pins and needle also to my hand. WHAT KIND OF DOCTOR IS GOOD FOR THIS? I hope to hear from you. I am beside myself. To think my surgeon said there are no nerves in my shoulder or that area that goes down to my hand and through the carpal tunnel. Thank you Debbie, Michigan
You have had a lot going on. Sorry to hear. I would probably start with an orthopedist that specializes in spine related problems not a general orthopedist. Or a neurosurgeon. Good luck!
Hi I’m having carpal tunnel surgery in 2 weeks I have it in both hands I have had the nerve conduction tests which has proved carpal tunnel syndrome but I also have a very stiff neck so that also has to be addressed I really enjoyed your presentation many thanks Karen Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
@@apexmovebetter I m Vietnamese and do nail tech. My english language is limited. I went to see specialist doctor and i m going to do EMG on my hands for carpal tunnel syndrome? Do i need to ask to test for my neck also ? I had discomfort sleeping, i felt numbness from neck (C5,C6) to hands. I m worried and not feeling good. Does medical therapy can help me? Thank you 🙏 for your video.
I wish I had seen this video 30 years ago after a car accident. They took out my 1st rib to save my hand because Numbness in tingling and shooting pain in my hand. Then 28 years later My clavicle dislocated because it didn't have that 1st rib for structure I now have numbing and tingling and nerve pain all over again.
Funny. I just saw, a doctor who said, "If you have a neck adjustment, and your carpal tunnel gets better. It's not carpal tunnel. But you can get pain in your neck from carpal tunnel." 🤔 That, didn't make sense to me. So thank you. For making sense.🤣
Watching this video it's the exact symptoms I am having in my arm and neck now it starts to move over to the other side, the pain is worst at nights....thanks for sharing the information
The neurologist said that he can't understand why my neck and my hand are painful. Now I know, but he doesn't. I having the procedure done on Thursday.
I had that test a couple of years ago, it is no fun. After the test the doctor with the most serious face tells me not to drink water for an an hour after the test and i wask why and he tells me because all the water will come out of the holes😂
I feel like this is me! I've had Carpel Tunnel for years. I've also had 2 cervical disc fusions. The electricity from my disc compression is different from the carpal tunnel. The electricity would radiate down both arms. As soon as I had the surgery on my neck the symptoms were gone! The carpal tunnel that I have is a different feeling. I've suffered for 28 years on and off. Just this past October I finally found a doctor that was willing to do something surgical and not just give me a shot and send me on my way. I've had the surgery on both hands with in a month. It's tough at times but I know I'm going to see a brighter future and be pain free carpal tunnel wise. I've got more surgery in the future because I have 4 more discs that have herniated in my neck. Thank you to the drs that listen to their patients and not just treat them and street them. I'm so grateful ❣️
Did you have endoscopic surgery? If so, how bad was the pain while healing? Would you say you could comfortably and repeatedly throw a baseball having both surgeries?
@@hmmmm798 Hi there! I did not have endoscopic surgery on my hands and I was awake! They numbed the area with lidocaine and I didn't feel a thing! I have about a inch and a half incision on my palms just above the wrist. I have about 4-5 stitches in my palm. Your doctor will tell you that after your wound is fully healed use vitamin E or Bio Oil to massage the area to break up the scare tissue. I do believe that after you have healed and done your therapy I believe you'll be able to throw a baseball. Everyone is different and if you don't have any nerve damage I think you're going to be just fine. Don't get me wrong you're going to have about a week of some serious pain. I had both hands done within about 3 weeks of each other. As soon as the stitches were out of the right hand I waited for a week and did the left hand. Good luck to you if you choose to have the surgery. 🙏
I have had couple tunnel back in the early 80s and started having problems after I broke my finger from a line drive in Softball in 2021. That is when my nightmare began. First of all it took 30 days before I was able to have anybody look at my hand. Then it healed up but in 2022 I went back and told them I was still having problems with my hand. They gave me some type of test and showed that it was fine. So I went to another neurologist, and he did the same test, but it was not a warm test. It was a cold test on the hand. Told me that I have carpal tunnel in both hands. also that I had to pinch nerves in my neck . I do have a plate and eight screws in my neck from when I got hurt playing softball . I just had to put that in because it will relate to it a little bit later in the story . So I went back to the hand doctor told him this and he saw the Tests and performed the surgery on it. A year later my hand is still swollen and it’s worse than it was before. Below the palm of my hand are purple veins sticking out and when I take a warm shower, it’s like a purple belt all the way around my wrist. It was getting worse. So now at this point I went back to the other doctor that performed the test to tell me I did have carpal tunnel and he says well you still have carpal tunnel in both hands so he took an MRI of my lumber thoracic cervical to see what was going on. The lumbar and cervical are fused so he sees in the image from my cervical that I have now a few pinched nerves and a bulging disc and he said something about C6 C7 . So now I have a surgeon that said that he was going to do a release on my elbow and I think he said the ulnar nerve, but he needs to talk to his partner about the findings of the MRI of the cervical. So that’s where I’m at right now. Thank you for the video. Now I have questions I can ask both of my surgeons.
Makes a lot of sense, i have carpal tunnel and upper back and neck pain, and I've always described my carpal /arm issue as running from one arm, circling my upper back and running down my other arm.
Those nerve conduction tests are incredibly painful. At least it was for me. A doctor heard me crying from outside the room. But then again I can’t even barely get through the Botox shots for migraines. Now my husband had a nerve conduction test didn’t flinch at all. But it turned out he had to get his ulnar nerve relocated. The surgeon had said when he got in there that the nerve was flat.
My thumb moves on its own and it’s like a zap. I think it’s due to me sleeping on my shoulder/arm and it’s getting pinched there! My wrist is not getting compressed so this video is very helpful as most people are saying the wrist is where it’s happening.
The nerve conduction test. it was like a series of electric shocks and yes I did have a problem. R hand sorted 6 weeks a ago and L hand later this month, August. cannot wait
So if an EMG shows you have carpel tunnel, does that mean I do have carpel tunnel? I have problems in my neck and shoulder but they are not addressing that at all, they told me I need surgery on my carpel tunnel!
Thank you for this I've had carpal tunnel pain for about 2 years in my right hand ( I'm a musician ) and late last year it started in my left as well. I refused a chance of an operation twice because I've heard it could cause problems for some patients. Acupuncture has done some good after about 6 sessions, but not as good as I'd hoped.
Good video. I wish I had viewed this before I underwent the nerve conduction test, not that the test was so bad , but I would have focused more on my “speed” results down stream from the transverse carpal ligament. I was diagnosed as severe in both hands with sensation symptoms only in my dominant, but muscle loss in both. I’m going to try to,see how much improvement can be obtained over 3 months before my go /no go decision as to whether I have them slice in two my ligament(s).
OMG ive been searching for so long and im so thankful i found this video, this is my problem for a month now and im still suffering every night and day, im in too much pain and i tried already many times to go to 2 diff. chiropractors and 2 diff. massage therapists and i even tried accupuncture, i went to my doctor, he`s referring me to a neuro but he told me its gonna be a while it may take a month or more that they will call me and give me an appointment,i told him im suffering every single night and day for pain,he recommend me to go to emergency. This is really the one thats happening to me,the neck, pec minor area and the my rib is elevated,i just seen it today in the mirror,i told myself how come its diff. and i got a tightness on the side of my neck,( as the other chiropactor told me) my shoulder also i know theres something wrong inside my shoulder or close there, also my rt.side i always feel cold, and i think i got a pinch nerve also that my chiro told me but i think he didnt fix it properly as im still feeling it close to the humps at the back of my neck or between that and the blade( sorry i dont know what you call that bones at the rt.back bone,im not sure if its sholder blade). I suspect my 1 massage therapist did something wrong coz he pressed a lot on my shoulder so hard that its so painful he even told me thats the first time he did it, after that im in too much pain and i got numbness mostly on my index finger and thumb, the middle finger just a little bit. My doctor gave me a teva lenoltec no.3 and cyclobenzaprine that helps me for pain and to go to sleep. Could you kindly give me an advice what to do or where to go to or who can help me? Pls. pls. kindly help me, i dont know what to do anymore, ive been doing some exercise that id seen in some video here in youtube about median nerve carpal tunnel syndrome exercises. Then i saw this video im so glad i find this, what can you recommend me is there some exercise that you can share that cab help me?I know this is a long msg. sorry abt. this,im just so desperate and in pain that i dont know anymore what to do, i really appreciated it a lot if u can suggest something or give me an advice also if theres some exercises that can help me,pls. pls. Thank you and i really like this video its so helpful,im so happy that i watched this.
My first wasn't bad but the cts was mild at the time. I recently had one and it was unbearable. Cts is severe now so they really had to crank up the zap to read it on the other side.
Went to Doctor today, and diagnose to do an electrolytes test and said that it might be a lymph node then told me that I have to take a baby Aspirin for my neck to go away. Since my right numbness has been tingling the sensation is still there. I still have a good grip on my hand, but sometimes I still feel my fingers numb at night like it's getting fat, I just give a massage and it will go away.
1) I was playing golf with no neck pain 2) for a few months I had pins and needles in my arm but not exactly where but didn't check it out..dumb 3) my neck/back start to hurt later so thinking it is my shoulder, I go to a shoulder dr sends me to EMG and MRI and they don't find anything except possibly arthritis in the neck/not conclusive except it wasn't my shoulder as first thought 4) I go to a neck drl he sends me another EMG/ same EMG Dr. but doesn't locate an carpel tunnel issues 5) neck dr offers another two fusion in my neck (I had a fusion in my neck 10 years ago) but I go for a second opinion 6) I go to a new Dr for second opinion, suspicious because scans show no major issue and full strength in my arm and hands. He doesn't like the first EMG Dr. so sends me to the one he likes , finds Carpel tunnel during the exam the other EMG Dr. missed.. He told me of cases of where when Carpel Tunnel was fixed, the pain in the hand and arm/back go away. In any case, I need to fix the Carpel Tunnel anyway so I will find out after that if the neck/shoulder/back pain goes away. Since you made the video on the opposite, meaning the neck is causing the Carpel Tunnel, if you thought It could be the other way around?
@@apexmovebetter Thank you for your reply. Because of my age, the second doctor ruled out the fusion and how stiff it would make my neck. I love golf but I can't play now because of the pain it causes in my back shoulder blade and arm. I was hoping the carpel tunnel operation could fix that but your reply seem to imply that is could be a pinched nerve. I'm sure what to do next. I have read now that the neck operation cures the carpel tunnel, making that operation meaningless..what a mess
Thank you. Great video and diagram. You mentioned at the end of your video stretches for this. Can you please tell me the name of the video? I can not locate it. Thank you.
Hi. I know this video is from 5 years ago, but I've recently started having some strange symptoms. I overexerted my hands and my thumb started shaking really bad when I would flex it towards my palm. This mostly ended after about a day, but over the week or so that followed, both of my hands started tremoring. It was also accompanied by a feeling in my shoulders and arms in what I can only describe as holding buckets of water straight up which was causing my arms to get tired really fast. Even washing my hair would make them tired. My hands aren't tremoring while I'm standing still, but it's mostly when I flex them in certain ways or trying to do normal everyday things. I got a carpel tunnel test which they told me would show if I have carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel and or a pinched nerve, but the test results showed that I just had mild carpal tunnel in my right hand, but it's my left hand that shakes the most. I don't typically feel a lot of pain unless I'm doing something that exerts my hands like yard work and even then the pain mostly resides in my forearm about half way between my wrist and elbow. This is also accompanied by tightness in the same area, especially when I first wake up in the morning. Early on, I was getting tightness on the tops of my hands. So far it has spread to my shoulders, arms and parts of my legs although not physically visible, but feels like a subtle rubber band when I move those parts of my body in certain ways. I've been extremely stressed and have no answers. I'm not sure when I'll be able to see a neurologist, but I'm curious if the shaking could be from this double crush syndrome?
@@apexmovebetter Thank you for the reply! I ended up going back to the neurologist and was told I have benign essential tremors. They ended up giving me propranolol which I was on up until December when I found out it makes my asthma worse and prevents those medications from working properly. I stopped taking it and haven't noticed a difference in the shaking so far as my hands/fingers. It definitely gets worse with stress where my whole body will start to tremor again. I personally feel like it's more related to my spine as I have no family history with essential tremors, but almost everything I was doing just prior to this all happening was physical like lifting stuff that was too heavy and I'm sure improper lifting. I mentioned to my primary that I was having issues with my shoulders getting tired really fast even just shampooing my hair in the shower, but they sort of brushed it off. I went back and told him I have 2 spots near my shoulders that when pressed on feel like really bad bruises so I was recommended to a see a spine specialist. Unfortunately I'm not able to afford that for the time being.
Makes alot of sense! I have had Carpal tunnel surgery in both hands. That explains why i have bad pain in my shoulder! Feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat!!
Thanks for info. I've had all symptoms. Did have xrays on neck and back. Now need to talk with Dr the 13th. Where is your office?. My poor hand gets so numb and goes to pain, its awful,,!
For years I had carpal tunnel syndrome coming and going due to overuse (gaming), over the years it pulled up to my shoulder several times. This winter I really overdid it, silly me. It started in the wrist as always and then over a few days the pain extended up the arm to the shoulder. Usually rest and exercises makes this go away after a month or two, and while my wrist is better this time the shoulder refuses to let up. Now 6 months later I still have problems using my computer and my fingers/top of my hand still tingles and goes cold when I do and ofc this puts strain on my hand and wrist again. I also wake up at night because of the pain in the shoulder and sleeping fingers. I been to physio therapy and the doctors without improvements, I have a time for the nerve test in a couple of months as my doctor thinks I need surgery in my wrist although the last nerve test showed no problems in my wrist. But watching your video made so much sense to me, after watching this I am positive the problem is in my shoulder. I have to mention this when I go in for the test. Hopefully they will check my shoulder and neck this time. Thank you for the explanation.
So, a few things going on with me and my hand. I started to have numbness in the tips of my middle fingers on my right hand that suddenly occurred a few months ago right after i received a massage. More recently within the past month, when i bend my right wrist forward, i feel a "zing " or shock like sensation through my hand. I've had the bouts of waking up with hand "falling asleep " while I slept and bothersome enough to wake me up. Another thing that causes that tingling sensation in hand is when I sit down, which tell me it may have something do with my spine? Today i had the EMG and NCV done. A little annoying sensation but not bad at all. I've sat through 4 hours tattoo sessions so I'm more tolerable to pain I guess, According to the findings, doctor said I have carpal tunnel. The First treatment would be a splint to wear at night. He did insert a needle in the back by my neck and it came out a negative for pinched nerve. I first went to a chiropractor when I first had the numbness in finger issue. He suggested "intensive "therapy where I went to him 2x a week for a month and no difference. So that where I'm at. So new these tests That i haven't even gotten a splint yet. Oh and another thing I am a pastry s chef, where for a several week period i was using a piping bag but I've been doing this for over 30 years and never experience this before. Love to hear reply from Apex
Was just diagnosed with carpal tunnel in both hands, but I also had cervicle spine surgery 10 years ago for degenerative discs. I have so much tightness and pain in my neck and upper arms. Excruciating. They did an X-ray on my neck which showed arthritis and a straightening of my spine above the cadaver cage. I have been wearing the wrist splints for a long time. I’m in pt for my neck but it’s not helping with my upper arms. Sucks.
How can you tell if the numbness in your thumb tips and index fingers is coming from your wrists, elbows, shoulders or neck? How can you tell if its carpal tunnel, tendonitis, or something else?
Terrific presentation. Is developing carpal tunnel in both hands (a few months after a fracture in one wrist) generally an indicator of an issue in the neck?
I was diadnosed with a Triple Crush of Ulmar Nerve. Next, wrist Elbow. I had MRI of neck. Neck guy said well C8 is ok. Referred me to a hand elbow surgeon for my hand numbness. He reviews my MRI and tested me for 30 minutes and said I definitely had a triple crush and couldn't understand how the neck surgeon didn't see it. So in having ulmar surgery on elbow and wrist and after recovery addressing my neck.
Need to check entire upper thoracic spine, & upper ribs all around, as well as jugular notch, & inside upper part of clavicle, too. Hold ALL the tender spots - right spot, at the right pressure for the right amount of time. In addition, isometrically maintaining erect posture while stretching neck ("pushing" head away from body) helps, as well.
Got CT in both arms , but also constant neck and shoulder glitches . I'm a 58 year old housepainter so I really beat up my upper body . Lately its bad enough to wake me up so I'm dealing with it . Going to massage therapist in few days but going add some neck and shoulder stretches . I never get it in just one arm , it kits both arms at once .
I refuse to rush into getting carpal tunnel surgery with out researching first. I felt it was stemming from my neck but neurologist disagrees. Hand surgeon thinks my theory is possible. I have degenerative disks in lower back and neck. I feel like I know my own body and stretching works better than meds. Gabapentin doesn't mix with my other medications. I take magnesium, B-12, and calcium+vitamin D.
I agree but “all” is pretty broad statement.
Yup
I am experiencing difficulty of gripping pen to write, feeling wrist cracking or grinding. What type of disease causes this symptoms and the medical name ?
can chiropractors really fix this because i'm having pain in my neck and shoulder side and in my wrist. its like a carpal tunnel.
@@apexmovebetter ….almost “all”…?
I developed bilateral double crush syndrome 10 years after neck manipulation during general anesthesia. Neurology defers to hand specialists. Hand specialists either want to cut right away or they defer to neurosurgeons.
No one has taken the time to explain it like you did here. Thank you. It would be so nice to get some relief.
how are you feeling now I have bilateral from playing video games with bad posture for years.
There are a few things for treating carpal tunnel syndrome at home
Do stretches - the pain is casued by tension in the nerve
Seek expert advice as it can lead to permanent damage
(I learned these and why they work from Dariks pain destroyer website )
Sounds like you could benefit from a good chiropractor to work on your neck and spine.
My mri shows c4 c5 c6 c7 disc bulge but doctor is not taking it seriously.
@@DRSKBANSAL are you dealing with carpal tunnel like symptoms?

THANK YOU.
Good luck figuring this out!
Thx
I had a lot of these issues along with what i can only decribe as weak feeling legs. My GP diagnosed me with carpel tunnel. I waited nearly 3 months to see a specialist and by this point i could barely walk. I was sent for an MRI and 5 days later i was told i had severe spinal cord compression. I was immediately sent for emergency surgery. I can now walk again but suffer a lot with chronic nerve pain and muscle spasms due to a damaged spinal cord. Please don't ignore these symptoms because before you know it it's too late to treat
Agreed
Same situation on me, but haven't decided under surgery
Glad you are better.
I ALWAYS KNEW IT DIDN'T JUST COME FROM NO WHERE! I KNEW THERE WAS ANOTHER REASON FOR BILATERAL CTS WHICH IS SEVERE!
I TOTALLY AGREE. DO I GO TO A CHIROPRACTER OR ORTHO REHAB?
EXCELLENT VIDEO!! Thank you! I'm having problems in all of those areas. Aching in my neck, my shoulder down my arm down to the outside of my thumb where now I have lost all feeling.
Thanks. Probably not carpal tunnel.
Great Information! Thank you so much. so that is why my pain started on both sides at the same time, it should be from my neck.
Just had a nerve conduction test done yesterday and it was not bad at all. Get it done if needed
when i has my nerve conduction test done a couple months ago, I felt like I was being electrocuted. my entire body jolted each time they zapped me. i was SUPER sensitive to it. 😩
it was awful!!
Work in it and maybe a physical therapist evaluation might be helpful. Kudos to you massage therapist
Same here. Went for a massage and she was more informative and closer to solving my issues than physio and doctors
Best explanation I have seen! I have watched multi videos from doctors and chiropractors. Thank you for the visuals and explanations.
Glad it was helpful!
Miss Tee thanks
Tell in hindi plz
Great video, very well explained! I might suggest toning down the fear-mongering on the nerve conductivity test, however--I've had two of them and it really wasn't that bad. I would hate for someone to be dissuaded from seeking out definitive nerve conductivity results because they heard that it was "the worst test ever." Keep up the good work!
You make a good point. I hate to have them avoid the opportunity to get a definitive diagnosis.
Thanks for the feedback!
I believe it really depends on your sensitivity. I am quite pain tolerant but tha test was super painful for me.
I’ve had three and neither was painful.
I thought it was very painful!
Yeah I've had a EMG and it wasn't bad. The best way to compare it is it's in between acupuncture and dry kneedling. Dry kneedling is much worse and acupuncture is very similar.
Superb explanation. Thanks very much for sharing. Carpal Tunnel surgery day after tomorrow... Fingers crossed.

If nerve compression comes from the neck/ shoulders, what treatment options are there? Any exercises recommended?
Thanks!

Thanks!

Many thanks
Hope you get some relief!
My friend had his shoulder crushed years ago, and was just told he needed carpal tunnel surgery, but he's now going to have his shoulder looked at. :)
Yes! Love it!

Chiro made my symptoms worse
Good luck!

This is exactly what I think I have. I can feel all three points. I’d call it a triple crush.

I’d recommend acupuncture needles for the test. I’ve done a lot of that and sometimes it hurts. It’s a weird feeling, though.

Good to know! thank you
I have had couple tunnel back in the early 80s and started having problems after I broke my finger from a line drive in Softball in 2021.
Very useful information, thanks
Very good explanation. Thank you for sharing.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I BELIEVE!!! I KEPT TELLING THEM THERE WAS A REASON I GOT SEVERE BILATERAL CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME! THEY DENIED IT!
My thumb moves on its own and it’s like a zap. I think it’s due to me sleeping on my shoulder/arm and it’s getting pinched there!
My wrist is not getting compressed so this video is very helpful as most people are saying the wrist is where it’s happening.

I just had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist. I’m hoping my neck pain will secede soon.
Good luck!
Try these exercises. They shouldn’t make you feel worse
Please, tell me, can chronic calcifications in shoulders cause the same symptoms as CTS ? Thank you
I have never seen that.
Wonderful information I was told after nerve condition test I think my carpal tunnel is coming from my peck and neck
Best of luck narrowing it down.
I had a nerve conduction test (both arms) and it wasn't very bad, and I'm a male. Uncomfortable? yes. Terribly painful? no.
People do vary in pain tolerance.
My first wasn't bad but the cts was mild at the time. I recently had one and it was unbearable. Cts is severe now so they really had to crank up the zap to read it on the other side.
exactly explains why my hands go numb when laying in bed with the laptop on my stomach and neck crunched forward. Lol. Thank you for this.
Your welcome
Went to Doctor today, and diagnose to do an electrolytes test and said that it might be a lymph node then told me that I have to take a baby Aspirin for my neck to go away. Since my right numbness has been tingling the sensation is still there. I still have a good grip on my hand, but sometimes I still feel my fingers numb at night like it's getting fat, I just give a massage and it will go away.
Excellent info. Thanks for providing this. I have a nerve test coming up. Ready for relief & Hopefully it will give some answers.
Good luck!
How did you get on?
1) I was playing golf with no neck pain
2) for a few months I had pins and needles in my arm but not exactly
where but didn't check it out..dumb
3) my neck/back start to hurt later so thinking it is my shoulder, I go to a shoulder dr sends me to
EMG and MRI and they don't find anything except possibly arthritis in
the neck/not conclusive except it wasn't my shoulder as first thought
4) I go to a neck drl he sends me another EMG/ same EMG Dr. but doesn't locate an carpel tunnel issues
5) neck dr offers another two fusion in my neck (I had a fusion in my neck 10 years ago) but I go for a second opinion
6) I go to a new Dr for second opinion, suspicious because scans
show no major issue and full strength in my arm and hands. He doesn't
like the first EMG Dr. so sends me to the one he likes , finds Carpel tunnel during the exam the other EMG Dr. missed.. He told me of cases of
where when Carpel Tunnel was fixed, the pain in the hand and arm/back
go away.
In any case, I need to fix the Carpel Tunnel anyway so I will find out after that if the neck/shoulder/back pain goes away. Since you made the video on the opposite, meaning the neck is causing the Carpel Tunnel, if you thought It could be the other way around?
In my experience I have not seen that . It could be 2 separate issues. .
Thank you.
Sir very well demonstrated. Sir how make the bent thumb with a bulging knot or bunion popping out. Any suggestion for that.
I don’t normally think of double crush with shaking hands. Definitely start with neurological referral
I felt all weird having a nerve test inside.
I understand
🙏 thank you
You are so welcome
😂❤️
Makes alot of sense! I have had Carpal tunnel surgery in both hands. That explains why i have bad pain in my shoulder! Feels like someone hit me with a baseball bat!!
Hey. I know how that feel!
Thanks for info. I've had all symptoms. Did have xrays on neck and back. Now need to talk with Dr the 13th. Where is your office?. My poor hand gets so numb and goes to pain, its awful,,!
I’m in north Jersey town of paramus
Tell us how you do. You may want to seek help from a certified McKenzie therapist
Hi how are you feeling now?
lol he's right, to me the conduction test was no big deal, my friend (a guy) had it done a week later and passed out
So true. I would probably pass out!
Very informative. Appreciate the detailed information
K11rroL thanks
Great information. Thanks
Freya Trigo thanks Frey’s!
I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome too and will be having my steroid injection next week instead of the operation.
Sucks.
Sorry to hear it isn't helping.
Good explanation
Thanks for liking
How can you tell if the numbness in your thumb tips and index fingers is coming from your wrists, elbows, shoulders or neck?
How can you tell if its carpal tunnel, tendonitis, or something else?
good question ☝️ i think it’s all connected.. stretching and exercise should fix it.. massage the hand.. arm and neck..
Thank you! 💯
I wish I would of seen this before I had surgery 😕
Hopefully it was the correct diagnosis..
Now I need neck exercises and realise why the wrist ones aren't working 😢
Could be!
Terrific presentation. Is developing carpal tunnel in both hands (a few months after a fracture in one wrist) generally an indicator of an issue in the neck?
It could be a neck issue
J. Agnone absolutely!
Thankypu I'm sure this is my problem.
Good luck taking care of it.
Gratitude dr.
Get a physical therapy evaluation.
