I went to a doctor for my left hand tingling and numbness and she asked me to do a CT scan and an MRI that both were clear. She told me that I might have a mini stroke. I was so scared that I couldn’t sleep anymore. I found your video and now I understand my syndrome better as my neck hurts too when I experience numbness on my fingers. Thank you doctor.
i had shoulder surgery and woke up up with tingling in the had,,i was sent for carel tunnel surgery that made no difference. doctor told me we can do more surgery on a different place. never mentioned PT or a brace. shoulder surgeon said it has nothing to do with shoulder surgery. this hs been going on for 4 years and i drop so many things because i do not feel what i am holding. no test were done to decide wear the nerve was being pressed. you r information was very enlightening much more than i ever heard before. i am 78 years old nd this is my biggest problem. blessing denise
Thank you for mentioning that, I also suspect that most of my problems are in the shoulder after surgery/ but I am bounced between the shoulder surgeon who says all is good to the pain doctor who says my neck is good.
They are too quick to jump into surgery , carpel tunnel surgery has a risk of doing more damage , my friend was a electronic technician and after surgery had to give up his career in this field. He couldn't grip things any more
Which hand? Surgery hand or non surgery hand? If it’s surgical side then it could be direct damage to the ulnar nerve during surgery or during the nerve block that you most likely received before surgery. If it’s non surgical side it most likely is from malpositoning during surgery. Often patients are laying on their side during surgery with non surgical arm stretched outwards. Any pressure on ulnar nerve from poor positioning during a 1-2 hour surgery can cause temporary or permanent nerve damage.
I am a doctor (psychiatrist) and my mother developed numbness and tingling in her hands, after consulting two doctors, a neurologist and an orthopedic I was desperate because none could help. I ended up searching it myself and from this video know it is a peripheral neuropathy and I have to consult a different neurologist this time and share my own thoughts and search result. Thank you for putting this togather.
Now you see how desperate us - laymen are, when we need to "how to Google, UA-cam"? And even when we find out for ourselves what is wrong with us, doctors just dismiss us as "laymen who know shit". This is why I don't talk much to doctors, I just help myself as much as possible. Why would I lose my precious time with waiting and be misdiagnosed a couple of times?
@@Ladida386I see doctors to get orders placed so that I can get tests done and go from there. I literally heal my own self. I worked in the medical field for 30 + years. I had unbearable and incapacitating pain. all the Orthos (physiatrist and neck doc) did was recommend 4-5 weeks of physical therapy, which caused me more pain. I am now seeing a regenerative Doc. (physiatrist) and had prolotherapy Hydrodissection and Platelet Rich Plasma injections in my cervical spine. I am on my second day of recovery and feeling better already. This doc. not only sat me down beside him and went through the whole MRI Imaging with explanations, but did so with my x-ray, where he found I had "military neck" -a 45 minute review. The former PTs were having me do exercises that worsened my condition and caused more pain. My insurance did not cover it, but it has been worth it. I did the same for my knees 12 years ago. those orthos told me that the only way around my two torn meniscus's, would be to have surgery (at 35) and that in 10 years I would probably need knee replacements. They made it sound so "matter of fact", dogmatic, as if this was the only alternative. Well, I got Prolo and prp done for just under a year with some PT, and a year later the same docs could not find any tears on the new MRI. over 10 years later, I can run and still dance. I am for alternative diagnostics and therapy all the way.
I have whole left side weakness. Face, left arm and left leg. It is like a line was drawn with a ruler in the middle of my body and left side the skin has a light loss of sensation. Apparently the reason is the degeneration on my neck and lower back area, says my ortopedic doctor. I also have bulging disk in the lower back which may cause my symptoms of an occasional numbness on my saddle area and genitals. It is super useful to learn about these problems and how they are caused! Your video is amazingly clear and easy to understand! Hi! Thank you for this explanation. I had ORIF in 2015 & subsequent removal of volar plate due to malfunction in 2018. The past 6 months or so, I’ve been losing significant function in my hand. I’ve been dropping things inadvertently, and I have a really hard time with simple things such as zipping a zipper, squeezing a tube of toothpaste, and many more day to day activities. I’m utterly heartbroken at the thought I may have a permanent disability.
Thank you so much for this! As a mom of a newborn, I haven't been able to jaunt over to doctors as easily. And, as a pretty healthy person prepregnancy, it's been scary to feel such numbness. I realize gazing down at the little one isn't the best for my neck, so I'll be managing that, tying the wrist brace and checking out videos to help C6/7 tension. Many, many thanks!
A clear cut information. Thank you very much doctor. I am a patient of TRAUMATIC QUARDIPLEZIA wef 21 02 21. I think a person like you can be helpful to me
Awesome information, doc! Thanks for putting it out there. It's so helpful to get to know this stuff not just as general knowledge but also as a complementary way to approach the visits with doctors, especially when you only get 10 - 15 mins appointments with them. I'm currently investigating an issue alike. Due to my symptoms, the potential culprit was the cervical spine but after the firsts tests (x-rays, MRI), we found out all the nerves in the cervical spine are clear, and very soon I will be taking the Electric Test you mentioned. Thanks to your video, I know I'm on the right path and what could I expect on some of the possible scenarios explained on the video.
Awesome video, thx doctor, I am now 99%sure that my shoulder blade pain, neck pain and this ugly pain of my triceps, elbow, as well as tingling and numbness of my 3 fingers and the palm below, comes from my neck
I wish instructors in manual therapies gave mini lectures like this to their students. A rather full picture of one presenting symptom that helps clinicians make sound judgement and give honest advices to patients. Thank you!
This video is brilliant. Many people worried by numbness will be helped by the highly informative content in this presentation. I like the spasmodic humour which nicely breaks up the video and makes sure watchers are kept focussed. Well done Dr Cooper a great job. PS no I am not a relative. !!
Tingling and numbness on both legs came first, then pain started on both feet. I consider myself an active person, so when the pain started affecting my activities, I went to a podiatrist. Corrective action = #lapidusbunionectomy on both feet on 2015, four months apart. No plates but 7 screws total. 2019 was when the numbness and tingling in my hands and arms became annoying. I was negligent until I felt weakness with my grip and symptoms reached all the way to my shoulders and neck. Several consultations later, my neurosurgeon said it's cervical. Had #ACCF May2021 C5-C7. Now the numbness and tingling, sometimes pain and weakness, is back (hands, arms, elbow, shoulders and neck). Not constant but with increased frequency and with varying levels of intensity so I can highly relate to this video. After my cervical corpectomy, I was also told that I have mild carpal tunnel on my left hand so I still sleep with the brace, and I still practice the nerve glides. I'm an active bowler so I'm grateful that I'm right handed. Not sure what my next treatment would be but I sincerely hope that I wouldn't have to stop road cycling or bowling.
I have reoccurring tenosynovitis in both my wrists so I pretty much know what pain is. It is excruciating. This pain was a little different. The palm of my left hand is aching so bad. It wakes me up and my first reaction was to lean my head over the edge of my bed while on my tummy and let my head hang and turn my head from one side to the other. Yes it looks funny, but it relieved my pain in my hand and forearm. So I know I have a pinched nerve in my neck. I need to see a chiropractor so bad. Money is right now so it's just not in the cards. This video was put out 4 years ago but it was extremely helpful to give me a visual. The diagram of the arm with the spine disc labeled (c7 and so on) was perfect for me to understand. Thanks for the video. It's a gift that keeps giving!
This was extremely helpful. I did have carpal tunnel surgery, it did not work. After an MRI of my neck. Yes. I have a problem. Guess I need the more extensive surgery. Just not there yet in the pain level yet. But my index finger is getting more numb. But nothing else. Torn about the decision to get the surgery for sure. Your presentation made me feel much better about understanding the why's and what can be done to help. Thank you

Thank you for this presentation. You answered many of my questions. I am suffering from numbness and shooting pain. I've just started chiropractic and acupuncture treatments. With the knowledge you've given me I am better equipped to communicate with my Dr.
Excellent overview. I wasn't sure how to explain my symptoms to my doctor before making an appointment (or even if I should mention them); and now you've given me specific areas to observe and record data on -- instead of just a generalized report of tingling fingers. Much appreciated! Suggestion: if you have favorite brands/models of braces, sleeves, etc. that you mentioned in the video, we would love to know what they are. I have no idea how to pick out a good neoprene sleeve.
My middle and last fingers are numb sometimes, my c4c5 is damaged it’s a disk bulge. You talking about all my symptoms, tank you so much for valuable information.

You described Double Crush Syndrome and I have a tumor on my spinal cord in C7-T1 which now has a small nodule growing out of it that has just showed up on two MRIs within the last six months. I definitely need another EMG to find out where this peripheral neuropathy is stemming from. You will never know how this video has truly help me and soon my doctors. Lana Alexander
Thank you doctor, You explained all my symptoms, Now I know exactly how to explain my symptoms to my specialist when I see them on my first appointment.
Good luck, the specialists I have been to have not helped, neurologist gave me 8 different prescriptions, 6 were muscle relaxers. All they did was make me sleep during the day and I was useless! Don’t take them, they don’t help! Sorry, just trying to help!
@@Kathyahedrick3 I got a nerve test , that’s how they figured and explained the problem that had , which was ulnar nerve damage. And they told me to buy an elbow or hand brace for a couple months and I’m not going to lie, it’s helped me a lot , I made progress and almost back to it’s full strength.
Awesome presentation, clear cut! Thank you doctor. I am 7 years young ! I have diabetes and peripheral neuropathy. I manage with daily exercises. Daily exercise and supplements work for me. Your explanation speaks to me and I am going to follow you.❤❤
Thank you so much for all the information!! This is super helpful. More power to you and hope you can continue educating more people. I haven't been to a PT so this is really nice. My hands have been number for 2 weeks now. Hope it will end soon.

My hand numbness and tingling is my pinky and ring finger. Its my ulnar nerve. I have to get surgery but I don't want the possibility of the surgery having to be re-done! And the six month to a year of recovery? Good grief!! My brace sucks! My doc (Dr. Aaron at Sportsmed in Huntsville, AL) did the diagnostic nerve test and found it. I'm thankful for doctors with common sense. Thank you for this video. I shared it.
Thanks doctor, I've been down with this numbness in my hands especially in the left fingers. I've seen doctors and taken treatment, but it's getting worst day by day. Thanks for this video.
I'm very stingy about writing comments. However your natural flow of explaining the nuts and bolts of such topic started me. I do not claim to have the wisdom of king Salomon, but you are a natural healer - you have the patience of Mahatma Ghandy and the heart of mother Theresa. Mother Nature should have thrown more human beings like you. GOOD LUCK. GOOD HEALTH.
Thanks doc, for the information❤. My hands starts numbing and tingling thats why i came to your video. It made me curious. Started taking B complex supplements maybe i have Vit B Deficiency.
Thank you for your excellent explanation. I have neck and back issues and developed numbness in my hands over past several years. Hand splints really didn’t help so pretty sure where that’s coming from. Good info to share with my Orthopedist.
Had neck surgery due to nerve entrapment and a couple of yrs or so started to have same issues again and only intensified, getting ready to have carpal tunnel surgery
What an incredible video. Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LEARNED so much about my hand nerve pain. I get a lot of pain in my forearm shooting to my fingers . It hapens at night i wake up screaming crying of pain. I almost bougth your 19.99 bluetooth keyboard lol
Did u have to stop workin my fear i have this n my hands 2 months now freakin me out n i need my hands for job i do i have chronic.psin 11 years from back n i thought maybe it from that so worried
Thanks! Hands in brace (lt) and bulky bandage (rt), so must be brief. Unremitting rt thumb tip tingling, got EMG, was told no cervical radiculopathy but severe CTS both hands, 55% left median nerve axon voltage but only 20% right. Discovered dominant rt. hand actually weaker than other (!) as well. Figured best to get ECTR ASAP on rt. hand, it was done 4 days ago. Tingling not gone yet. I'm 80 YO male in good shape. This video is hell of comprehensive, most I've encountered. An online handout for post-ECTR recovery mentions vitamin B6 50mg, 3x/day for 3 weeks was shown in studies to be beneficial. That's a lot, my PCP suggests going a bit easier, just 2x/day for the first 2 weeks, 3x/day the last week. With food. Surgeon told me pre-op won't know for 3-6 months how it went, that dead nerve fibers will not recover but "strangled" ones can.
What an excellent video. Thank you Doc. I learnt so so much. Please continue the videos. Lol...your jokes are funny 🤣. Have a great day. Sending healing and love to all ❤

Me as well. Since surgery in 2020 my hand is completely numb and tingly sometimes feels cold. Dr has no explanation and now i live with this debilitating pain
Worsening numbness burning and tingling in thumb, index and middle fingers, but the carpal tunnel tests are negative. Getting more painful every day. Pretty scared. Chiropractics maybe helping a little so does yoga, but not really effecting symptoms much. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi I am from Trinidad. So very informative. Thank you.i do have tingling on my toes left and my left 2 last fingers and elbow pains I will pay attention to your explanations.
I was 75 when I was originally diagnosed with carpel tunnel and trigger finger in both hands. I had both surgeries done on my right hand, but the recovery was so long I was reluctant to do the other. At the time I was checked for nerve problems in my neck with negative results. Now at 80, I've developed tendonitis in my right thumb, helped considerably by a steroid injection. I still have considerable numbness in my left hand and arm when driving, sitting in my recliner, and waking in the night. I've always had aching from a neck lash injury. Now wondering if my problem could be from Ulnar nerve {cubital tunnel syndrome. At age 77 I developed numbness in my feet, so now looking for some solutions. i'm pretty active and fit for an 80 year old.
WOW this was so helpful! I’ve had pins and needles/numbness in my right hand, last three digits, for two weeks, after a woodworking project where I was hammering and chiseling. It’s very annoying but not debilitating. Not sure what I should do. Doctor visit or just time for nerves to heal from the trauma?
I went to a doctor for my left hand tingling and numbness and she asked me to do a CT scan and an MRI that both were clear. She told me that I might have a mini stroke. Thank you for this great explanation.
Great video. Helped me more than my doctor.
Thank u for this brilliant information Doctor..
Your explanation speaks to me and I am going to follow you.❤❤
7 or 70 years young?

I get chronic migraines B12 helps a lot. I had a severe whip lash and skull fracture 38 years ago and I am still suffering with my kneck and migraine
Excellent!!! I will ask my Neurologist for an EMG as the numbness is in only 1 hand. I do have essential tremor in both hands so I do not know if the numbness and tremor could be interrelated...

Do you wake up after sleeping with your arm or arms above your head? I sleep on a couch now and I can't put my arms above my head , so it's solved it for me.

Very good information and presented well. Thank you sir.
My name is Annemarie my numbness is, in my both toes and feet ? Any suggestions thanks
Thanks doctor, I've been down with this numbness in my hands especially in the left fingers. I've seen doctors and taken treatment, but it's getting worst day by day. Thanks for this video.
Thank you so much for your most helpful masterclass. God bless you for sharing such valuable information
Thank you very much dr for your explanation.
Please correct urself it's Mahatama Gandhi ji
bravo good informations
Thanks alot for the wonderful information you shared
Love from India doctor ❤🙏🏻
Thanks doc, for the information❤. My hands starts numbing and tingling thats why i came to your video. It made me curious. Started taking B complex supplements maybe i have Vit B Deficiency.

best explanation video
Thank you!
Thank you
Thank you for your excellent explanation.
Sending healing and love to all ❤
This was very helpful. I have cervical dystonia and the theb on the side I spasm is extremely painful

Thank you so much you are amazing and.very helpful god bless you
I wish I had seen this video earlier, as I underwent operation which resulted in hand no longer working. Always painful and cold sometimes. I had capal tunnel operation in 2021
This has been very informative I have pain in my wrist bone and a sharp pain ( not numbness or tingling) and between my little finger and the forth it’s so painful I cry out! And my wrist in Constance pain
Hi I am from Trinidad. So very informative. Thank you.i do have tingling on my toes left and my left 2 last fingers and elbow pains
I will pay attention to your explanations.
I've had a ct scan the day of that last message, and just yesterday a cervical and a brain mri. Will update any results. ..soon.
Great educational, thorough video. 🙏🏼
That was extremely helpful, thank you. 😊
Please is there another video on neuropathy in the feet and cause of it?Thank you so very much.
Hi. Doc. Is there a way I can have you as my doctor
will the left hand also be affected by the nerve in the neck?
It certainly can be.
I was 75 when I was originally diagnosed with carpel tunnel and trigger finger in both hands. I had both surgeries done on my right hand, but the recovery was so long I was reluctant to do the other. At the time I was checked for nerve problems in my neck with negative results. Now at 80, I've developed tendonitis in my right
thumb, helped considerably by a steroid injection.
Thanks for the video and explanation. Can you also add Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, please? I think it’s very relevant these days. Thanks!
Had carpal tunnel surgery .now can't use hand nor arm..goes down to the leg which they say foot drop ..please help me..MRI show c4 issues
Thank you,I will wear my splint also at daytime and try-out to chanse my nec posture.
, iam glad to see the vodo because i have tinging in my finger thank you docter❤🙏❤️
