It’s been 9 days since my carpel tunnel release surgery and I have to stay bandaged until I go back on day 14. My hand feels pretty good. I just can’t open a jar or mix cookie batter, etc., but I can’t wait to have these bandages off and not have to deal with keeping them dry! I miss the simple things like washing my face with two hands.
@@VirtualHandCarehi. I am very interested in watching this video. I'm getting ready for the surgery. Is there any way I can speak with you? I've had strokes and other critical conditions to consider. Please help?
I want to tell that I found this video very good support to concerns about carpal tunnel. It is my second surgery after 10 weeks from first surgery. Thank you
I had my surgery done September 23, 2024. I’m a week and 3 days out. I was told to take my dressings off in 2-3 days I now can let the soap and water run down it. I now use a big bandaid and use my ace wrap to keep the bandaid to hold. I’m struggling with my pinky finger touching the thumb. I’m kinda able to do a little more this week. But it’s been a rough time considering I had it done in my left hand and I am also left handed…
for anyone watching this, i work construction with chipping hammers, drills etc. an hour after my surgery i went back to work. i did not use my hand at all and stopped when i started to sweat but i got my job done one handed. ibuprofen and tylenol taken together every 4hrs did the trick for me. good luck
@ nope not at all. After 6 weeks I was back at full blast. Still get weird pains after a long day but nothing some ice won’t fix. The doc wanted me on light duty but I pushed back and he fully cleared me. I still can’t do a push up but at 6 weeks I was good with pretty much all else, Including a 50lb chipping hammer. Weird lol. Sometimes the best therapy is to just get back to what you were doing and put it behind you
@@rigorocks23 What is the reason for the inability to do a pushup? Is it simply because having your hand cocked back degrees is weird after the ligs have been cut or was there a loss of strength of some kind?
Just had my surgery yesterday. I didn't get a dressing..I got a bandaid. I had carpal tunnel and tendonitis surgery. My incisions doesn't hurt at all. My main pain is swollen. And I didn't get any pain medicine.
Great video I am not even 24 hours postop😂! And I’m sure I’m going to fall into that overly cautious category but definitely will try to stretch ! Glad I cooked the morning of my operation 👏🏼 so I have left overs 😮💨
Had surgery done Friday (11/1/2024) and it’s 11/7/2024 and my arm has been killing me. I see people say day 5 and they have strong hand? How? I’m so worried something is wrong. Couldn’t sleep last two nights. Pure misery.
I had the same 6 days ago. My palm hurts if I use it. I took my bandages off on the 3rd day and just have water proof bandaids over both incisions now.
I'm having this done on both hands. Mines severe and I struggle griping objects. I'm a machinist using vibrating equioment, and my work wants me back 1 week after surgery lol
I was a little nervous, but I am two days post surgery and I am able to use my hand a little with little to no pain. I have only taken ibuprofen to help with swelling. Do it. You’ll be glad you did.
Hi, its been almost 5 weeks since the surgery and i still have noticable swelling in the wrist. Wound is healing well and getting massaged regularly but is the swelling normal?
Hi there I would like to ask you for a bit of your expert advice, I have seen many youtube videos on carpal tunnel and yours is the only one that mentions the hands locking close as a symptom, Is that a symptom of carpal tunnel? They all talk about numbness week fingers but not if the hands/fingers can just lock closed so that I have to use my other hand to open the fingers on witch ever hand is locking at the time, I do believe that that I do have carpal tunnel through doctors that I have previously been to and from other guys that I have worked with in the same line of work and who have had the surgery, however my problem with having the surgery is that out of the four guys that had the surgery done is all of them it got worse after they had it done, And I think my problem is not only with the nerves in my hands but also in my neck because every now and again I get a spasm in my neck on the left hand side right by my collar bone that makes me twitch quite badly, so I don't to sure if getting the hand surgery is just going to make it a hole lot worse, please if you could help me with some advice I would be grateful and thank you for your videos and for the time you putting into making them because it seems to me you the only doctor on youtube that studied on carpal tunnel and has the correct answers.
Your comments are exactly WHY I don’t want to get the surgery. My friend’s husband who is a miner said the same thing it got worse after the surgery. I started doing exercises and bought a hand gripper to use. My carpal tunnel has improved about 80%. I still get some numbness when I ride my horse. Holding the reins my thumb goes numb. I think neck exercises are important also. I have to sleep propped up due to acid reflux and I think this causes tension in my neck.
I’m know professional but I believe you need a MRI. On your neck before you get any surgery only trying to help I just had carpal tunnel surgery and my hand is still not moveable my next move is to get a MRI on my neck to see if the problem is coming from there.
June 5 I go in for carpal tunnel release, de quervains release, and a cyst removal. Any tips or advice? That's left hand. When I heal, I go in for right carpal tunnel and de quervains
Hi Michele I have polio and I use my hands and arms to get up from my scooter and chairs. Would I be risking damage to my stitches if I continued to do same immediately after surgery? Is there a way around my problem? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Putting a lot of pressure on the stitches could possible affect the healing or just make it take a little longer. But your doctor may leave them in longer, have you keep your post op dressings on longer for added protection, maybe use a different suture technique, etc. There are a lot of ways to keep your incision protected.
I had it done Tuesday. Today is Thursday. Now the severe nighttime numbness has went away. But my thumb and two fingers are tingling nonstop for two days now.
I went on a liquid diet 1 day before and 3 days after my surgery simply because I didn't want to have to go #2. The pain meds probably helped me stay poop free until I could wipe again!!! 😂
I had surgery on 28.10.24. I want to tell you that I found this video very good.

I am 1 week out of right hand open carpel tunnel release. I am in a full splint for 2 weeks and was told to move my fingers regularly, but that is it.
Perfect timing for this video and very well explained.
Glad you think so!🙏

Will I ever be able to do handstands and push ups after surgery in both hands
Yes
That's great to know, I couldn't do them before surgery

How is it now?
My surgery is next week
I had an open release but I had a cubital tunnel surgery done at the same time.
I also had both done. It was 2 different nerves

one week? using vibrating equipment?? nah you should see if you can get your doc to write a paragraph why that's fucking stupid.
I’m scared to death to have this procedure.
Just had endoscopic release on Wednesday and it’s not bad, and I’ve been sleeping like a baby since 😊

I had in office...only pain was numbing shot and I could drive home. Not bad and getting slowly better❤
Not gonna lie I was in so much pain after the surgery and it was a long time before I could fully use my hand again
I just had it today - so far, so good. I’ve been doing the exercises he prescribed. The surgery didn’t last more than 8 minutes.
I'm 5 days out of surgery, dr removed bandage and told me she'll see me in 5 weeks.
Mine is to remove in 2 days . Today is the day , it’s sore
thank you
Just had my baby and I can hardly pick him up, had an injection yesterday and will see if I need surgery but my hand hurts so bad
That happened when I had my baby and 11 years later here I am scheduling my surgery. Looks like starts in pregnancy and increases after.
Hi, its been almost 5 weeks since the surgery and i still have noticable swelling in the wrist. Wound is healing well and getting massaged regularly but is the swelling normal?
Yes, swelling is normal for several weeks, usually even a few months.
@@VirtualHandCare thank you for the video and response 🙏
Is bruising on the forearm normal?
Yes, you can get bruising and swelling in the forearm but it can often just be blood that settled in certain areas once the tourniquette was released.
I done the tunnel surgery, and it have severe pain in trisape what's the reason behind this
Simple question:
Will I be better without anymore night tingling / numbness and after two months back to full function?
I had severe night time pain and numbness. Surgery healed me immediately. Hope u get relief
I had surgery last week. Horrible pain now further up wrist. Can’t sleep. Horrible. I fear something went wrong. I’m furious.
How long before I can take care of babies I work with?
