  • The problematic nerve involved in carpal tunnel syndrome begins at the neck, so we can often make changes to this condition by using specific combinations of scapular and cervical motions to create precise muscular and neural stretches. And since we're famous for our brain-based approach, you just know we're going to enhance these exercises with a few outside-the-box ideas that take advantage of the nervous system's powerful sensory and motor loops modulating muscle tone and pain.
In this video, we cover how to gently stretch three vital neck muscles while also lightly tensioning the median nerve. Get your massage tool ready while your clients grab their irritation journals and warm up their eyes, and give these exercises a try!
    Video Highlights:
-- Stretches for the upper trapezius, levator scapulae, and scalene muscles
-- How to use your eyes to change muscular and nerve tension
-- How to use a massage tool for additional benefit

Thank you. I've been researching this all morning because "put on a wrist brace" was ridiculous. I knew it had something to do with my neck because laying down causes almost instant pain and sitting up and fixing my posture almost instant relief.

Full time guitar player as well 30 plus hours of teaching a week. Started to get tingling in fingers after playing a few hours. I’ve got terrible posture so I think I’ve got to sort that out. I’m going to book a session with a physio

This was fantastic. I have carpal tunnel syndrome because of a super tight trap muscle and these work great. By just moving my eyes up and down, the release is instant. I hear a little "pop" in the back of my neck. And it calms the nerve pain in my thumb right away.

These stretches are unique. The addition of eye movements in your stretches is hitting the muscles differently, feels great doing them, thanks for the video, doc!

Helpful and interesting video, as usual, thank you. One piece of feedback though; I find the sounds you have added to the labels/flags that appear on the screen unhelpful and distracting. I kind of hope I'm not alone in that!

First, Thank you...this technique is amazing. I was wondering: Is there any type of neck/brace or neck support to use for sleeping that helps carpel tunnel other than adjusting pillows?
