  • It's good in the woods turns three! To celebrate I am heading out on a 2 night, 3 day hot tent adventure on the Appalachian Trail! Returning to the trail I made my first youtube video on. I am trying out my newest hot tent, The Seek Outside Cimarron, in combination with my Seek Outside Large titanium stove! Hauling in some real good food and enjoying some good company.
    Joining me is my good friend Craig ‪@MeetMeOutside‬ We enjoyed 3 days of all kinds of various weather, filet mignon, fried haddock and scenery! We had the place all to ourselves. A good time.
    Thank you for three years of support!

      Be warned that Luxe has some sketchy customer service. I have ordered from them 5 times without issue. But a lot of people are having issues with them. This was a contributing factor for me getting a Seek Outside tent. With all the wide spread complaints, I can no longer confidently recommend or promote the company. • @ORflycaster
    @ORflycaster 2 роки тому

    Just found your channel and subbed. Great content. What are your feelings about Large stove Cimarron combo? I'm "spending money" in my head right now, wanting both a Cimarron for lighter/faster/farther hikes solo or with my son, and also a 6 man tipi for shorter trips and dedicated rotten weather extended stays. I'm thinking the Large stove is ideal for the Cimarron and the XL would be best for the 6 man, BUT maybe an SXL might do double-duty for both tents with only an additional pipe purchase. I like to save money, but would rather buy once and find perfection than upgrade later. You thoughts and experience are appreciated. I realize it's only money and ounces, but I like to save both when I can. :)

    • @ItsGoodintheWoods
      @ItsGoodintheWoods  2 роки тому +1

      The Cimarron and large stove combo is perfection in my world. Such a great combo.
      Your theory is sound. I agree with it, and it is an excellent question. In a perfect world, both tents and both stoves! In a more practical world, I believe the SXL would serve as a double duty in this situation. That is the stove I would get if I wanted one stove to use in those 2 tents.
      The large heats the cimarron very well. If it is going to be your solo palace, I don't think the little extra bit of space the SXL takes up will much matter. It may be just a tad on the small side for the 6 man, but I can tell you for sure I have used my stove in spaces that are "too big" and it was fine. These stoves crank out heat. But they need to be fed every other hour or so.
      I hear ya about saving weight and money. I do believe the SXL will do what you want it to. At the very least, it will be a very good start for you to learn what it is that will work best for you. Down the road you can always buy a bigger stove for the 6 man if you want. It'll certainly take it. And some time with the gear will tell you if it will jive with what you are looking for.
      Also worth considering, how much do you see yourself using these stoves? If the answer is a lot, you may want 2 stoves to ease the work load and wear and tear. I just closed out my 4th winter with my stove. It has been my primary stove this whole time and has been used a lot. It is still here and working just fine. The panels are warped(to be expected) but when assembled the stove holds its shape and works as it should. They will hold up to years of abuse. But I see another bigger one in my future for those bigger tents.
      I don't really think you can go wrong either way. These things are expensive, Personally I would start with the SXL and go from there.
      I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thank you for subscribing and supporting the channel

    Hey Justin, thinking about pulling the trigger on this. Is it worth it ? I’ve never owned a hot tent. Thinking about getting one up in NH this winter.

    • @ItsGoodintheWoods
      @ItsGoodintheWoods  Рік тому +1

      For some it is worth it. Others not so much. I would recommend you try out some cheaper hot tents first. Learn what you like and what you don't. Develop a list of what works for you. Once you have some experience and figure out what suits you best, then get the expensive tents if that is what you want. It would suck to drop $500 on a tent just to discover you don't like it.
