I remember the first true gameplay trailer they showed, I believe it was last year?. Was really mixed in terms of reception because people saw it was too humor based and the tone was wrong. Nothing further from the truth, the game has super dark tones and mixed crazyness like Wasteland 2, it is Wasteland. So far it's been great for me. Everything I loved about 2 is here, and they got rid of some of the obscurity when it comes to for instance skills and what those skills do. Like initiative dictating which character will come in which turn and how far could they move, but there was no way of knowing for sure before a battle. Was kind of annoying. It's a fun game, and for anyone like me who never played the original Fallout 1 or 2 and always wanted to have something like that, this is it. As I've said Wasteland 2 was great, this one is the natural evolution.
Ive really enjoyed it so far! Unfortunately it struggles on my day one Xbone. I may just wait till I get my XSX to play it. We'll see if I make it that long...
A couple days ago, I was playing WL3 singleplayer and I had a buddy of mine in party chat doing the Dorsey mission in the GotD, when I found a frozen ferret launcher. I thought that was the funniest weapon in existence, it's so absurd that I doubt that even borderlands wouldn't even try to pull that off. My friend and I proceeded to laugh with its absurdity for the next 15 minutes or so. Seriously awesome game.
This game is so good, I recently played through the remaster of the original and I though it was good, rough because of the mechanics, but very good. 2 was an epic journey, 3 is just addicting the writing and voice acting and everything about it is awesome, albeit there are some things they could patch and such which they probably will with enough feedback
The best new RPGs are the isometric ones. DOS2, Wasteland 3, Disco Elysium, and especially Pillars of Eternity are all some of the best RPGs I have ever played. Although Bethesda and BioWare have kind of moved away from the genre, we still have great developers willing to create games in this "niche" genre.
Excellent video! I'm loving this game so far too - only about 20 hours in, but there's literally nothing I don't like about it, other than some of those sporadic technical issues here and there (like one fight against 3 razorbacks somehow dropped my fps to ~20, when I run at a smooth 60 against 7+ Payasos - very weird). I could go on for hours on how much fun I'm having, but suffice it to say, the combat, story, characters, chracter-build systems, and just overall "feel" of this game are top notch - great balance of dark humor, and just...dark scenarios in general. That Randy Gett quest at 3:11 man...I was thoroughly uncomfortable at the end of that one, and I love this game for making me feel that way I also like what you said about the combat - I find myself favoring strictly turn-based CRPG combat these days (e.g. Wasteland 3, Divinity OS 1 and 2) over traditional pause-resume combat (e.g. Pillars of Eternity, Baldur's Gate). I think it's just much easier to really flex that "strategic muscle" without being bogged down by random issues like being in bad position because the AI decided to path strangely, pausing just 1 second too late to re-issue orders, and now one of our characters did something suboptimal that might cost you the fight, etc. In Wasteland 3, if you're out of position, or whiff a move to the point of no return, it's more often than not because you made a poor and/or needlessly risky decision (which I've done on several occasions, costing me entire encounters at times).
The game's amazing it's my first time playing this type of game I like how when you go to fight the enemy or that are you get attacked by the enemy they all attack you know one after another and not have to like wait That's not the worst bug the worst one is the when the screen turns black or you're stuck in a shop menu and can't exit and you got to like exit the game Had to play on easy cuz I suck at these type of games this game was still kick your ass even on easy so there's some challenge still even on easy surprisingly enough
But that's not a bug. Turns are team based, not character based. So every single enemy will attack you one after another, just like you'll attack them one after another. 8 enemies? 8 attacks one after another.
Amazing game and definitely my GOTY if Cyberpunk is delayed, that being said it's the buggiest game I've played in years I've crashed over 10 times with numerous different issues
I didn't play it at launch but the bugs not even close to what cyberpunk did. Got to congratulate inxile, they pretty much topped the most hyped game of 2020.
i bought this game because i loved wasteland 2. I'm also a huge fallout fan. So this really scratched that itch that fallout 76 just couldn't achieve. I'm not even 15 hours in and I can tell this is gonna be a great expierence.
I hear a lot of people praising the turn system in the game, yet it is the thing I like the least about the game. As an Old School D&D player, I much prefer the semi-random Initiative System we had in Wasteland 2. I hope they consider it as a game option in a future update. The inventory management system is a massive improvement on its predecessor, though.
I have this on PC (don't know if that makes a difference) but I've played for about 21 hours so far and haven't had any game breaking bugs yet. Just a few camera glitches here and there. My advice for someone who wants this but is scared of the bugs, buy it anyways. The few bugs in the game are worth the fun you have with it. Plus there's a good chance the devs will fix most of them in the next patch anyways.
One Tip: In Wasteland 3 you can have Custom Avatar Pictures for your Rangers. It works the same as for Wasteland 2. Look for the folder were your savegame Folder is in: ...\Documents\my games\Wasteland3 There create a Folder named: Custom Portraits In it you can post the Images that should become your new Avatars, BUT they not should be bigger then: 256x256 Ingame, go into the Character creation Menu and look for the Avatar Pictures. Normaly there are 3 Points under the Pictures for three Sides. This will expand, so there will be more to see and use. Have Fun creating your own custom Crew ;-) (If you still have your Wasteland2 Custom Avatar Folder, copy / paste it over. It should work just Fine.)
It just came to me, this kind of 'level gated main quests', where it forces you to play side quests that are actually on par with main quests in terms of quality, is probably what would make modern Assassin's Creed games less mediocre.
I have experienced a few bugs, one that is making me replay a battle and one I had to look up what was happening, but so far it's been more stable than any recent Fallout game was at launch.
I'm not really a fan of CRPGs. Or haven't played many. But this is so easy to get into. I've put so many hours into this game so far. And I barely just got to Denver. I love this game so much. I hope that their next game is a 1st person RPG. And they keep it just as complex.
I hope that if they make a first person game it is a different IP or a spin-off. I would play the heck out of it! But I wouldn’t want them to stop making Wasteland as a turn based RPG. We can have both can’t we? :D
Keep in mind that this and The Outer Worlds are both Microsoft properties now (especially when you hear "xbox has no games"). Granted MS releases will be on PC as well, but that just gives me an opportunity to play twice (double the achievements) since they're free with gamepass.
@@unlimitedpower5027 They're both on PS4 because they were already in development and announced for PS4. Avowed will not be on PS4, nor will any future games from Obsidian and inXile.

Tbh, I couldn't play it anymore after about 10-15 hours through Game Pass on XBONE. I don't know what happened, I don't know what changed my mind, but there was a moment where I just thought 'I'm done', removed it from my library, and haven't felt a single compulsion to return. I mean, I played 300 hours of Fallout 4 at launch in '15 (and am currently slogging through Cyberpunk, willingly), but Wasteland 3 didn't last me 5% of that. I'm a big fan of Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition, so a video-gamey RPG is in my wheelhouse, and I enjoyed Fallout, so the genre works for me. But something clicked or didn't click with this for me. I don't know.
Did it seem monotonous at all like Wasteland 2? I, too, dumped countless hours in Fallout 4. Binged on it for a year, then Cyberpunk 2077 came out and now Im binging on that. Afraid Wasteland 3 might feel like a chore similar to 2.
@@twobob_lee it's hard to say. The simplest answer is that I'm not very good at isometric CRPGs. I tried playing Fallout 1, and it didn't resonate with me. I only have a handful of hours in Divinity: Original Sin. Never even touched Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights series. I definitely felt like I was putting in more effort for less gain when it came to the characters abilities. Trying to cover for every situation burned me out.
The load screens are the only negative I can find about this in single player. The visual and UI bugs aren't game breaking, just odd. I'm playing the Lawman, I've arrested everyone I can.
Great to see what theyve improved 6 months later...loading screens have been shortened it seems, as these often end before I expect them to. This is only my second isometric style RPG, first being Disco Elysium, and I am enjoying myself thoroughly....to me, its like Disco storyline/gameplay with FF Tactics style combat. Delightful.
I ordered Wasteland 3 for the PS4 and I also ordered another game Car Mechanic Simulator. I figured with me being a mechanic I would enjoy it. The CMS came in a couple days before wasteland 3 did and I'm now so hooked on Car Mechanic Simulater, it will be a while before I get to Wasteland 3
I actually just did a replay through Wasteland 2 directors cut last month to satisfy my old fallout tactics nostalgia. I never even expected W3 to come out. I'm very happy but will wait a bit to get it I think cause I'm a bit behind and started Batman Archam Knight and Control this week.
The original was one of my favorite games ever. Wasteland 2 was fantastic. Wasteland 3 improves on Wasteland 2 in every aspect. My only complaint is I wish it was longer.
With 8 Barter and the perk that gives a 5% chance of selling a junk item for 50x a single item gave me a whopping $31,000. Do yourself a favor and don't slack on Barter.
I wish the Co-op wasn't absolutely broken, made it 15 hours with a friend on steam and the entire quest line reset, like we still had our gear and our levels, but we went back to ranger HQ and The Patriarch is there with a Dorsey tied up and everything, old radio messages the whole nine yards, def waiting on a patch before we continue.
Finally getting around to playing this about 30 hours in. a couple restarts and replay throughs and now in really rolling with my current setup. I just cleared out the Warrens so hyped. Tons of shit left to do!
The game looks great, and I'm thinking of putting it into my play queue. The only thing that has me concerned from reading comments is the seemingly short length of the game. I want more than a handful of days of playtime.
I'm not very far because I've been mainly running sidequests, and raising the money for my next objective but I'm loving this. Wasteland 1 was my second RPG and while I like most of the Fallout games I've played (Basically everything except for 76 which I have no interest in) I've always felt the Wasteland series deserves more love, and hopefully this game will lead to that coming. What's funny is we went opposite with our Animal Whisperer concept. Yours is a brawler while mine is the team sniper.
I’ve never been into games like Xcom and other turn based games aside from South Park but this game has me hooked. I never saw this game coming and I really enjoy the humor and dark moments. I wish the marketing had been bigger because I think a lot of other people will end up sleeping on this game as well.
Start playing it on the Xbox one X and the loading screens were so bad that I just put it up until the new one came out and just now remembered it three years later here we go
Glad I got the game recently. The loadscreens are but a few seconds. The "problem" was with the DLCs because I got the GOTY or whatever and started steeltown without knowing it was a DLC. Not that it had any negative effect other than the loot being lower level, but I didnt know that so whatever. Overall a great game I will be playing for a very long time.

Agreed! In terms of CRPGs of this style, I needed to learn a bit more, and on that front I'd have to say this is my favorite thus far, as its a challenge but not one that makes me rage quit (like W2). I'm actually sticking to it; I'm a ways into it and I *still* can't put this down, which shocks me, 'cuz I never seem to finish CRPGs of this sort, not even Wasteland 2 (the water level going down fast on the world map frustrated me to the point of putting it aside). I like this much better ... even better than Divinity Original Sin 2.
since I've never really played any CRPGs my first thoughts while playing this game were "I really wish they had the budget to make this a modern style rpg" but as I played I started to really love this game for what it was and it made me want to play more like it. you werent lying when you said this was a great first entry for newcomers to this style of game. i love how this game manage the text, it simple and user friendly while other rpg games throw at you a full page of text to your face...
8:40 Oh... poor Polly... I paid for the bird and... let's say... the next encounter was giving me a feather as loot ^^;
150 bucks and it died on its first combat. :D
The goat and the clone are the best I've seen so far.
I'm loving this game, had to get through some fights on my last legs. Ran out of ammo and had to send my characters into a barefist melee.
As someone old enough to have played Wasteland 1 when it first came out, I'm not at all surprised.
This game is so good, I recently played through the remaster of the original and I though it was good, rough because of the mechanics, but very good. 2 was an epic journey, 3 is just addicting the writing and voice acting and everything about it is awesome, albeit there are some things they could patch and such which they probably will with enough feedback
Dude same. Haven't played anything else since it dropped.
If this was on the switch id pick it up
The best new RPGs are the isometric ones. DOS2, Wasteland 3, Disco Elysium, and especially Pillars of Eternity are all some of the best RPGs I have ever played. Although Bethesda and BioWare have kind of moved away from the genre, we still have great developers willing to create games in this "niche" genre.
Man, I really have to try wasteland 3 and Disco Elysium. I'm just finishing DOS2 and it's a masterpiece.
I really want this game. But it’s one of those games where I’ll just wait for it to be on sale
Its free on gamepass
KageHavok I have PlayStation
I’d definitely encourage you to get it and if you wait for a sale it will likely have had some bugs ironed out. Win!

That Randy Gett quest at 3:11 man...I was thoroughly uncomfortable at the end of that one, and I love this game for making me feel that way
I also like what you said about the combat - I find myself favoring strictly turn-based CRPG combat these days (e.g.
Happens to me as well on all settings which is really odd
one of the few games i bought at a launch and actually not disappoint with it - in fact, this might be the game I enjoy the most this year
The game's amazing it's my first time playing this type of game I like how when you go to fight the enemy or that are you get attacked by the enemy they all attack you know one after another and not have to like wait
That's not the worst bug the worst one is the when the screen turns black or you're stuck in a shop menu and can't exit and you got to like exit the game
Had to play on easy cuz I suck at these type of games this game was still kick your ass even on easy so there's some challenge still even on easy surprisingly enough
But that's not a bug. Turns are team based, not character based. So every single enemy will attack you one after another, just like you'll attack them one after another.
8 enemies? 8 attacks one after another.
Love stories where my choices have a major impact, will get to this and divinity original sins series soon…
Loving this game. Makes me want to try Divinity.
How'd you like it?
@@promane557 it was great. The ending was a little lackluster imo, but the rest of the game was fun as hell.
I'd give it a solid 8/10
Playing through this game now with a buddy and we just got to the first big twist and we're so hooked! We love this so much!
Yes, I’m about 15 hours in right now and LOVING THE S&!T out of this game! Maybe a Top 5 CRPG of the last 20 years?!
Yes. And yes! I also like how they streamlined the skills. No more first aid AND doctor.
Look for the folder were your savegame Folder is in:
...\Documents\my games\Wasteland3
There create a Folder named: Custom Portraits
In it you can post the Images that should become your new Avatars, BUT they not should be bigger then: 256x256
Ingame, go into the Character creation Menu and look for the Avatar Pictures. Normaly there are 3 Points under the Pictures for three Sides. This will expand, so there will be more to see and use.
Have Fun creating your own custom Crew ;-)
(If you still have your Wasteland2 Custom Avatar Folder, copy / paste it over. It should work just Fine.)
Awesome, thanks!! I knew you could have custom avatars but wasn’t sure if you could use the same ones from W2. Now all we need is a save editor >.>
A killer review, you nailed the essence of this outstanding RTS adventure man! Digging it since launch day, radically improved over "Wasteland 2"!
Its not a rts lol
It just came to me, this kind of 'level gated main quests', where it forces you to play side quests that are actually on par with main quests in terms of quality, is probably what would make modern Assassin's Creed games less mediocre.
When Ramen Noodles are a lost delicacy you need to recover, you know you're playing an awesome post-apocalyptic game.
I have experienced a few bugs, one that is making me replay a battle and one I had to look up what was happening, but so far it's been more stable than any recent Fallout game was at launch.
In my experience it has crashed more than 76 has so far
I'm not really a fan of CRPGs. Or haven't played many. But this is so easy to get into.
I've put so many hours into this game so far. And I barely just got to Denver.
I love this game so much.
I hope that their next game is a 1st person RPG. And they keep it just as complex.
I hope that if they make a first person game it is a different IP or a spin-off. I would play the heck out of it! But I wouldn’t want them to stop making Wasteland as a turn based RPG. We can have both can’t we? :D
Not usually a fan of this style of rpg, but matty has me thinking about it
Keep in mind that this and The Outer Worlds are both Microsoft properties now (especially when you hear "xbox has no games"). Granted MS releases will be on PC as well, but that just gives me an opportunity to play twice (double the achievements) since they're free with gamepass.
Outer Worlds and Wasteland 3 are both on PS4 so Xbox still has barely any unique games
@@unlimitedpower5027 They're both on PS4 because they were already in development and announced for PS4. Avowed will not be on PS4, nor will any future games from Obsidian and inXile.
The music, my god the soundtrack is top 10 modern VG soundtracks ever. I found myself wanting it on CD, thats when you know the music is good when you want to listen to it outside the game
I'm loving every second.
Wow this Fallout 76 Wastelanders update is amazing!!! It’s actually worth playing now guys!
Lol
CommanderJaneShepard Todd and the gang have really out done themselves. This is probably the best Fallout since New Vegas.
@@WarNvrChanges yeah the best lol
Todd is that you?
It's awesome when it's not crashing. Well made . Hard to stop playing it.
Matty, I appreciate your honesty, thanks for your hard work.
The CMS came in a couple days before wasteland 3 did and I'm now so hooked on Car Mechanic Simulater, it will be a while before I get to Wasteland 3
it would be cool if mentioned somewhere in the description of title of your videos if there's any spoilers in the video or not
I actually just did a replay through Wasteland 2 directors cut last month to satisfy my old fallout tactics nostalgia.
It gets your pickle tickled a little for Wasteland 3.
I purchased this for Christmas this year! I am super excited 😊
Just started playing this cuz it was on the game pass and I'm addicted to this game
If you don't rush and explore,do side quests, trail off the beaten path, you will find yourself playing longer
Safe to say, InXile and Obsidian were the best acquisitions Xbox has ever made
I’ve never been into games like Xcom and other turn based games aside from South Park but this game has me hooked. I never saw this game coming and I really enjoy the humor and dark moments. I wish the marketing had been bigger because I think a lot of other people will end up sleeping on this game as well.
I was loving the game co-op when the technical issues made me lose six hours of progress haven't touched it since but the game was so perfect.
fantastic video matthew
Start playing it on the Xbox one X and the loading screens were so bad that I just put it up until the new one came out and just now remembered it three years later here we go
Glad I got the game recently. The loadscreens are but a few seconds. The "problem" was with the DLCs because I got the GOTY or whatever and started steeltown without knowing it was a DLC. Not that it had any negative effect other than the loot being lower level, but I didnt know that so whatever. Overall a great game I will be playing for a very long time.
As someone who’s addicted to world of tanks (playing it pretty much every day), its surprising that i havent touched that game ever since i started playing this. Its been a while since ive enjoyed a single player game this much. Oh yeah, thank you game pass!
Do not let the provost die!! The payoff is huge if you find the owl medallion.
Finally trying this game out, and loving every minute of it
Have just started playing and I am having a blast in it so far.
Story dlc has been confirmed to be made once they are done working on bug fixing and performance which i am VERY exited for
Never played this series always wanted too since I love the Fallouts I'm going into this blind as I'm hearing really good thing's about it and hankering for a CRPG
Im loving it, thank God for gamepass
I'm usually not a big fan of cRPG's but Wasteland 3 is an exception. This game has been incredible so far. Crusader Kings is just going to have to wait!
I love it... When it's not crashing every 30mins on the Xbox! The load times are also pretty painful
You know what's agonizing the loading screens, my top tier computer still takes 15-30 seconds they need to optimize this shit
Just fired up a second play through and the load times are so much better. From around a minute to now between 6-8 seconds
I kept restarting just to get a build i felt was right, but really loving this game
The replay ability of this game is amazing. I’m up to the 3rd child. So I’m close to finishing. But I’m already excited to be a complete jerk in my 2nd playthrough.
Cohh carnage is like you when it comes to fallout and he spent 12 hours in the first area alone, before moving on to the world map and he is loveing it...
Quote: the "fallout" game we have been waiting for!!!
Much love for Brian Fargo, a pillar of this amazing Industry ❤️
Bryan Fargo is also a character in the game. The boss of little Vegas...
I will definitely be going back to try pillars of eternity again after finishing this and cyberpunk then probably gonna try divinity for the first time.
Cover humping bug is the worst. Apart from all the other bugs and the crashes. But still love it.
Great review thank you! I'm thinking of getting this game at some point!
Faran Brygo is in the game. IMPOSSIBLE! I killed him back in 1988 on my first Wasteland 1 playthrough. 😉
You can also pick this game up on gamepass. I did and I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. Combat is a lot of fun too! Also should note that wasteland 1 and 2 are also on gamepass as well!
Can't believe isometric games are still being made.
The obviously-not Brian Fargo character was in the previous Wasteland games
