Yeah, I'm pretty hyped particularly after reading exodus archimedes engine. Great read and really explores the setting, well part of the setting. Won't spoil it, but I'd check the book out.
As a new studio I think they should start with a AA title. Setup the world in the first game and then aim for AAA game next. Start small and aim big vs aim big and faceplant.
All of our beloved studios are dead. Such is the cycle. The next studio to fall will be Rockstar. BGS already done for with two duds like Fallout 76 and Starfield. CDPR is another one going down hill. The Witcher 4 will be modern trash.
I'm reading the book, it's really good. Looks like the whole lore is well thought out. It also feels slightly different than everything I've seen before, more like a mix of interesting scifi ideas. If they don't screw up the gameplay it could be a great game. I am more optimistic about Exodus than new Mass Effect.
I'm beyond excited for Exodus. I'm about half way thru the book from Peter F. Hamilton, and it has me even more excited. I love the concept of time dilation, and I cant wait to see how they incorporate this into the game using choice and consequence. It could truely be epic. The Celeatials are ancient humans, some of the first to make the trip and have essentially evolved into something more alien. This could be epic, and I can't wait to see more.
the time dilation may just kinda remove the player too much from what is happening though. hard to care for something millenia in the past or future. it's essentially just the end game cinematic cut into smaller parts and given during the game rather than at the end.
Thank you so much for talking about this game! I have been so excited about it ever since drew karpician joined Archtype. This is by far my most anticipated new game ip/franchise
I'm more drawn in by a non-voiced character. Picking the dialogue in DA: Origins or Baldur's Gate 3 not only lets me choose what my character is going to say but why they are saying it, I get to choose the intent. With a voiced character they are never truly my character as while I can pick a dialogue option, I don't get to decide the intent behind the line.
Also check out Judas, the new bioshock type game from Ken Levine with some innovative sounding procedural storytelling aspects. That one looks like it could be something special even the gameplay looks very much like just modern bioshock. There’s a lot more under the hood.
This was a good meeting. I must admit to being a tad bit super hyped for this game. Its story reveals, characters and art design are tickling my imagination hard. Planning to get the book for Christmas. Having said all that I am a true "no preorder" believer before anything. A lesson learned over many years. I will wait for proof of reasonably greatness before buying.
Drew Karpyshyn is the writer of the game? im sold!! i remember reading the 3 Mass Effect book and his previous works on game are great!! dunno why Bioware dont use him for ME3 and MEA which turns out to be lackluster,.
They are all humans, celestials being the container group. They are just separate evolutionary paths of the human form. They were the first to arrive to centaury and then send the beacon call to the rest of humanity. The process of traveling to this place is measured in millenniums, so much time that the original humans evolved in different ways.
So many games over the years have said "don't worry, all the old developers from our old studio are working on it now" yet it has never changed the outcome. I'm not saying this game will be bad, I have no clue, but having the knowledge that some old developers are working on it too means absolutely nothing.
I just hope they focus on making a fun game first, because I'm seeing a trend with some development teams of trying to create a whole set of multi media products before they even know if their IP is any good (see Concord or Unknown 9 Awakening)
When I saw the announcement trailer I wasn't excited for the game. But with how low of a bar bioware set this game doesn't have to try that hard to be better. Here's hoping to them being able to catch lightning in a bottle again.
This sounds amazing but I learned, from years of watching Game Expos, that what they want to release and what we get are often different. Creators have a lot of great ideas but just not enough time and resources to do them all. I hope, hope, hope, this game is amazing - I am ready for another Mass Effect quality Bioware game - but I will not get my hopes too high.
I am really curious if Exodus is going to get the same backlash over culture war issues that Bioware & Bethesda does these days. Bioware was pretty progressive even back in the old days of Kotor & ME 1. I wouldn't be surprised if Exodus goes that way too, especially with the strong transhumanist themes in setting.
nice list of games he's been involved in.. ME series was excellent (i only played 1-3), Kwtor was awesome (but i despised the turn based combat) and i have a soft spot for Swtor.. one of the only mmo's i remember playing where the main story differed for each class of character.. small touches like that & the best editable UI ive ever seen helped make it an enjoyable game to play in its original form but modern changes did make it less appealing to me during its later years... hopefully some studios can add some quality back into gaming, its been difficult to find great games on a regular basis for many years now.
Wizards of the Coast have become the villain now, so eh. Also, Callisto Protocol was such a let down, and I really don't think anyone would call it a diamond in the rough or a hidden gem, sadly.
So.. When i was telling everyone I don't care about next Mass Effect and Don't play DA4 But im waiting for Exodus that was Really old BioWare team's Game? good damn man i still have some taste!
Hey that's a good point that says something about the industry, Bioware released 3 mass effect and 3 dragon age games during the 7th generation, how many games did Rockstar released during the 8th? ONE, red dead redemption 2, and it was a masterpiece for sure but still, they preferred to milk the shit out gtav that whole time instead of creating at least another game/IP, crazy when you think about it, also aaa games take too damn long to make and sometimes all you want is a nice rounded shorter aa experience.
Getting combined Mass Effect and Warhammer vibes. Far more excited for this then the next ME game. Sadly after andromeda, anthem and veilguard (all which actually had good combat) i no longer trust Bioware to write good characters, story or have the choice with consequence that i enjoy in an rpg.

All of our beloved studios are dead. Such is the cycle. The next studio to fall will be Rockstar. BGS already done for with two duds like Fallout 76 and Starfield. CDPR is another one going down hill. The Witcher 4 will be modern trash.
@@JAIMEGARCIA-gw9re Yeah, I am sure Rockstar will fall with the gazillions they'll make on GTA 6. lmao
Very cool! Thank you for your attention to detail! 🍒🧡
Hey! Your movie knowledge journey is already bearing fruit when analyzing games!
Mattys talk about cautious optimism was what i did with starfield and MAN was that a good move
nvm guys im over the moon this sounds so good
I've been watching you for over 5 years... I started watching you because of your BioWare content.
RIP BioWare...
I'll wait to get excited when I see some actual gameplay. We've been burned so many times I've become very cautious in my older years
Premise seems cool. I will keep an eye on its development. Hopefully it pans out well.
I love your always honest reviews and news, thanks from Denmark :D
Get the tie-in novel, Exodus: the Archimedes Engine by Peter F. Hamilton. Very cool world building. Great space opera.
I cant stop looking at the KOTOR 2 box in the background....
so why did Wizards of the coast bring them in to make a new IP, rather than remake Baldurs gate considering the success of BG3
Looks awesome, thanks for the deep dive.
Also check out Judas, the new bioshock type game from Ken Levine with some innovative sounding procedural storytelling aspects. That one looks like it could be something special even the gameplay looks very much like just modern bioshock. There’s a lot more under the hood.
Side note they should not have given up on anthem 100% salvageable imo
This was a good meeting. I must admit to being a tad bit super hyped for this game. Its story reveals, characters and art design are tickling my imagination hard. Planning to get the book for Christmas. Having said all that I am a true "no preorder" believer before anything. A lesson learned over many years. I will wait for proof of reasonably greatness before buying.
I would hope this year would make people check their “hype” over game stuff. This year has been so bad and we can only hope 2025 will be better.
NO PRE-ORDERS
Im excited but skeptical of this game , specially they work with wizards of the cost .
The process of traveling to this place is measured in millenniums, so much time that the original humans evolved in different ways.
the huge time periods in between are weird.
i suspect itll make it hard to actually engage much with the story, because it feels kinda pointless.
So many games over the years have said "don't worry, all the old developers from our old studio are working on it now" yet it has never changed the outcome. I'm not saying this game will be bad, I have no clue, but having the knowledge that some old developers are working on it too means absolutely nothing.
Wasn’t aware of the WOTC being a problem. Hopefully they pull it off
I just hope they focus on making a fun game first, because I'm seeing a trend with some development teams of trying to create a whole set of multi media products before they even know if their IP is any good (see Concord or Unknown 9 Awakening)
Trailer was really good, they were able to deliver a story! Won my hard, but obviously sceptical for new AAA project
there's speculations that after swtor is done enhancing its visuals that a port to consoles could occur
Im definitely interested in Exodus, but a big part of me wishes that these guys had been the ones working on the KotOR remake.
I am more hyped for Exodus than for Mass Effect 5. I trust my "old" Bioware developers more than whoever EA hired for the "new" Bioware
When I saw the announcement trailer I wasn't excited for the game. But with how low of a bar bioware set this game doesn't have to try that hard to be better. Here's hoping to them being able to catch lightning in a bottle again.
I would love to see the option to go all melee and powers and no guns. I always wanted go full biotic in ME without the guns.
NGL, the entire game gives me powerful Mass Effect vibes.
To me, this is like the grounded feeling sci-fi of Mass Effect mixed with the more "interesting" aspects of Dragon Age.
I’m excited for Exodus,it looks better with each video they drop on their channel.
As soon as I learned this game was being made by ex mass effect devs and Drew Karpyshyn I was onboard.
nice list of games he's been involved in..
Bioware people left Wizards after Neverwinter Nights to make Dragon Age 🐉
So..
When i was telling everyone
I don't care about next Mass Effect and Don't play DA4
But im waiting for Exodus that was Really old BioWare team's Game?
good damn man i still have some taste!
Next video bioware is cooking and i love them
Hey that's a good point that says something about the industry, Bioware released 3 mass effect and 3 dragon age games during the 7th generation, how many games did Rockstar released during the 8th?
