One thing about these types of games that I personally try to avoid is min/maxing everything. I get that there’s this “gamer” approach to these things where it’s all about getting the best possible numbers, but I sort of like going with the flow and accepting a few flaws in the roster if I make a mistake or if I meet someone new who isn’t a perfect fit. In this game in particular, I actually enjoy filling the roster with mostly companions since they add more personality and story interactions than the player created characters. I have a couple wasted skill points on my team, but it feels more genuine to me that way.
I feel the same way , I’m just watching to see what people are doing if it’s similar to me but I do the same . I make my builds up and they’re working out perfectly I have flaws in mine but it’s become my strong point
Flamethrower build with toaster repair and nerd stuff is way op. I added mods to the flamethrower and was able to boost the range to 20 meters. There is heavy weapon perk that lets you move further so just move them in ahead of everyone else on the team and melt everyone. I use this over explosives because fuel last longer and is way cheaper to buy.
Pro tip: name one of your squad mates "MrMattyPlays" and you'll suddenly be one shotting absolutely everything and he can even solo the entire game himself if you want! Unlimited ammo, max stats, all perks and quirks with no downsides at all! But if you come across any woods these are his one weakness... he'll be forced to hide behind a brick wall and become completely immobilized taking the biggest shit in his entire life thereby causing a nuclear winter and crashing the game, also deleting your save data and completely erasing Wasteland 3 from your Steam account. They call this the "Near Perfect" glitch. You have been warned.
I really want this but none of my friends have the patience to play an RPG like this. They prefer Fall Guys, Madden, Call of Duty, stuff like that. If there’s anyone who wants to add me on psn and okay with me i’d love to
don't sweat it, this game is perfectly fine as a single player game, sure is more fun with friends, but let's be honest, everything is more fun with friends...
Oof! good luck! I hope you find someone to game with that is willing to take time ^^ Honestly Kionashi is right, if you don't feel like playing with someone, it is still a lot of fun solo. Maybe you could look on a Wasteland 3 forum to see if there's anyone looking for someone to play with who is also in your situation?
You still looking for a co op buddy I’ve wanted to try it at least for a while but I can’t recommend my buddy this till maybe next big patch I still break game often
Honestly this game is way too easy in the later half. No tips or tricks needed. There are so many simple ways to outscale the challenges. Final boss fights were pitifully fast.
"Play in co-op." Yeah, never happening. I despise playing with others. I play at my pace and on my schedule. I don't want to be tied to someone else. Otherwise, sounds like good tips.
THANK YOU FOR SAYING IT EXACTLY THE WAY I WOULD!!!! I would love to play a game with others but I remember that when I'm gaming I take my time. I tried to play something with my 20 y/o son and good god damn that boy is a good shot but while I'm doing something I look up and all the enemies are dead and hes on the other side of the area and im like.... Ok this aint gonna work out
Two Perks to really consider: your Toaster Repair Ranger should get the perk that lets them find bonus items in toasters while your Mechanic should get the on that gives you a 25% chance to find bonus ammo. Both Perks help your entire party and stay strong throughout the entire game.
03:55 as of September 30, 2020 the "Timed Auto Saved" have been removed. I'm guessing that the 3 "autosave 1, autosave 2, and autosave 3" is enough. Maybe too many auto save is slowing the game down.
I finished the game yesterday and my explosives guy only used the skill to defuse mines. In late game I had a shotgunner (the gun was modded for longer range), she basically did the last fight by herself. My tip is to focus on non-combat skills, such as lockpicking, nerd stuff (there's a TON of good loot locked in electronic safes, boxes and such), explosives for defusing traps, animal whisperer (you will find some strong animals to help you at least kill weaker enemies and save you ammo), kiss ass and hard ass can easily very useful during conversations. Lastly, don't waste 6 good skill points to max out a skill, there are items in the world, not to mention books that can save you quite a few points. For books, don't use them early, save them for when it becomes more expensive to get points.
@@cursedmonkey1033 the whole game is bugged and is virtually unplayable. I don't know about you but I prefer to play games for more than a few minutes at a time. I really thought this was a great game but considering how relatively little is actually happening in the game it ahouldn't be crashing like this... garbage
On wasteland 2 I used to save before I would open chests and reload till I got something good. Sometimes it worked and sometimes I would be reloading a save 10+ times...
Great vid matty, love it and love wasteland 3 so far. You mentioned the bartering thing as number one. 100% agree. If you are graced by the RNG gods by selling a mass of scrap (Anything after 1000 is BIG bucks) you can make tens of thousands of dollars and be set for the rest of the game. I sold 4,000 something scrap late game and made well over 200k.
This game is great. I understand some people are having technical issues, but I’ve had a relatively bug free experience and this is quickly becoming one of my favorite games I’ve ever played. Can’t get enough of it.
I love this game but I have restarted so many god damn times like I cannot get my builds perfect but I've found that having a character that deploys turrets and gets in the front lines is a really fun build
The antique appraiser is really good for making money. Sell and buy back your scraps especially in big bulks. If it triggers you can easily gain a lot. I realized this when I sold it and I got 5k. Then I bought back all the scraps I sold throughout the game and I repeat and I got over 15k per trigger. Update: I got over 1000 scraps and if i trigger it, I am getting 50k each time
As an Army infantry veteran and fan of strategy/sim/tactical games, I always found alot of similarities between my military experience and successfully building strong squads in these types of small unit tactical management games like xcom, wasteland etc etc are usually start with weapon systems and keeping them diversified with rifles more prevalent, one heavy gunner, one designated marksman and one technical/tech expert with smaller or specific weapons like sub-machine or pistol, Which is pretty much what the smallest infanttry unit called squad of 4 is made up of and generally looks like. Then onto specific roles assigned to that weapon system, One guy in charge of the squad to dump leader ship skills to buff the rest of the squad, one medic with technology skills, one heavy weapons expert with mechanical and explosive skills and whatever else I need for the designated marksman as far as skills. The rest is usually role-play and shooters preference. I've taken this formula across multiple games and I'm sure that's where they draw their inspiration when making the content.
I can vouch on the barter perk. I was at 17 grand sold 4,000 junk scrap and ended up with 45 grand once I was done with that interaction, it was more than enough money to last the entire game ( I got this right before I confronted victory in Aspen ). As for how the game runs on the xbox one X the game crashes easily every 2 hours of play time, and the screen occasionally going black but you can still access your inventory and settings, that's the only downside so far, but it is pretty game breaking. Game's easily a 7, both pushing an 8 but there are some big game breaking bugs here and there like I've mentioned
two work outs on the first tip - you can have a barter specialist recruit that you don't actually play with and just pick him up to buy and sell stuff at the ranger hq (only negative is losing the barter dialogue options) Also, the barter perk he mentioned ? It's a very buggy/glitchy perk - it rolls only once per stack of items, but, if you buy and sell the stacks it rolls every time you sell. That doesn't mean much by itself, but if you notice that scrap sells for 1 and buys for 1, you can buy and sell that as many times as you want until the perk procs - and when it does, it works on every single scrap you are selling. With this I saved some scrap and sold around 2000 scraps for over 160k dollars, did it twice and I'm still around 280k while spending like crazy. Infinite money glitch. About skills - early game you will be lacking, but by the mid to late 20s... you have enough with the use of books to max pretty much every single skill except like, 2 - and those 2 can be weapon and armor mod - and you can have a recruit with weapon and armor mod in the base that you can pick to mod your stuff for you. About explosives - you want the guy that has explosives to ALSO have sneak shit ... and you also want a sniper to have sneak shit - the reason is that you get extra sneak attack (100% extra damage at level 10) and extra 200% with the last perk. That means a maxed out sneak shit dude scores 4x damage while out of combat, but that's not all, with some of the perks you guarantee critical hits with the rocket, that means you multiply for crit too - In the end you can reach over 10k damage in a single rocket and that kills everyone in that area.
Personally I like the gunslinger with serial killer. Using a pistol fully lvled gets tons of shots and can pick off many people. Hell, can get multiple aimed shots in a single turn. The sniper is nice but the long reload and the high cost per shot is a detriment. With pistols you even get a shot after reload at no cost, this paired with serial killer actually gives you back points.
Try serial killer with automatic weapons, they get a perk that gives them a free shot when moving more than 5 spaces and 4 AP after a kill on top of the AP from serial killer. They can take out a lot of enemies in one turn.
Can somebody help me ive encountered this bug on (The Traitor) quest and im about to encounter liberty, Ive unlocked the lvl 10 fence and go up the stairs but cant enter the room because for some reason my squad cant pass through the doorway as if there is an invisible wall blocking it and preventing me from finishing the quest. Does anyone know how to fix this? I dont have any recent saves either.
Explosives and Big Guns in the same carachter helps a ton, you drop a grenade (with the serial killer), try this guy to be your leader you´ll have a special perk / boost investing in leadership called "Leader Multikill" is very good until the point is broken, i´m a little bit after mid game is a breeze, weird science equipment / armor are also very good and not random they´re tied to luck and a very specific vendor (having high barter when finding this guy will help in the long run), it only occurs once per run (at least so far as i played).
waste roamer is the best not build specific quirk when you play on the hardest difficulty since things like poison and burning can kill you outright and persist through downed state, just one status effect can you kill multiple times so being immune to all these effects is very useful.
Yeah it crashes like alot. Has crashed midway through editing characters on multiple occasions and has become so annoying especially with the long ass load times. I say wait for a patch then go for it.
I’m in the same boat. Want to check it out on PS4 but I’m hearing there’s lots of bugs. Hopefully it’ll be patched within a month or two, maybe then it can be bought cheap on a holiday sale or something.
Right now on ps4 Pillars of Eternity complete is 10 dollars. I had it on Steam but I hate mouse click rpg type games. Would Wastelanders basically be Pillars of Eternity except in postapocalyptic?
Not quite. WL is turn based so my friend whos not into these types of games chalks it up to "fancy chess". I prefer this style over Poe and da origins style because its a Lil more chill. Combat encounters tend to take longer tho
Don’t underestimate the animal whisperer skill either. That honey badger is virtually indestructible and can take out a boss all by itself. And since it’s at melee range enemies will attack its massive health pool first. Goats also do decent damage at lower skill levels too.
I think investing in BARTER to get the Antiques perk is a waste on an actual PC (or companion). Sure, there are some interesting RP opportunities with a high BARTER Character, but at the start of the game, just create a BARTER PC at RANGER HQ and use him to sell your junk (and buy ammo....like rockets). This will get you a strong fighting force AND some $$$ early on.
You can also use the RANGER HQ PC method to build a WEAPON / ARMOR modder and use some of the very powerful MODS you pick up early in the game (tho you may want to hold them for better equipment?). I know this is technically a cheat, but single-player game.... *shrug*.
Oh...and don't remove your starting 2 PCs from the party as my unpatched (no patch for GAMEPASS yet...thanks MS!) game BORKS the PC when you re-add them to the party. No idea if the latest patch fixes this bug (I have not seen a mention of it but it's VERY consistent and I reported it but got no reply).
Unfortunately Mr Matty, the game is buggy as hell on PC Game Pass. It crashes to desktop, and wont launch. The reviews are abysmal because of it, which is super disappointing because I haven't managed to be able to play it on Game Pass, even though I keep hearing that this game is awesome
I have game pass for PC and have not had a single crash or bug. Check your firewall and or antivirus settings, sounds like something system specific that might be causing the problems your having.
Imo on a first play through at least, I actually advise against using Antiques Appraiser unless you really don't care about how cheap it is. It makes the game way too easy, especially when you accumulate lots of Scrap in specific. 5% may not seem like a lot, but all it takes is one time while selling say, 1000 scrap which, isn't unreasonable in the mid/late game to acquire easily, heck by the time I finished the game I was holding 6000 and not even stockpiling it that much, nor did I have a weapon mods person with me for bonus scrap on dismantlement. Anyway, with that you just made 50k from that 1000 Scrap ($1 per = $1000 x 50 from the 5% chance to hit the perk), which will make it so you don't have to worry about money for a good while. Let alone doing that at higher Scrap numbers, or worse, selling and buying back the Scrap until it triggers endlessly as the game doesn't have a punishment for spamming sell/buy Scrap. You sell for $1 per, you buy back $1 per, it's literally just non net loss or gain until the perk hits, than it's pure net gain. Sure, you can make a moral rule to never buy back and attempt to repeat it endlessly, but it doesn't change the fact that even 1 fate chance at selling any decent amount of Scrap will make it so you just turned on easy mode so you can just buy out every store in the HQ, Downtown, and wherever else you go for the next long while. Personally I think they need to either rework or remove the perk, it takes the fun out of the game by allowing people to get infinite money, especially that early in the game. You can literally just make a Ranger to swap in and out with high Barter for the perk, and high Weapon Modding for the bonus dismantlement Scrap bonus. Literally broken. By all means, if it's not your first play through or you just don't care and want easy mode, than abuse this perk until it (if it even gets) fixed, but to those who are new and want to experience the game in a more...fair way, don't pickup that perk. Barter itself is fine, but Antiques Appraiser is just way too strong even on accident.
Save the Game before Selling Your Stuff if you have antiques appraiser. And keep trying until you find the Best sell! Ones i has a Sell for 2000 something 2 try’s later over 6000!!
Super late but when it comes to quirks also pyromaniac is busted. Throw on explodomaniac background and pyromaniac quirk and you get like 20-30% from both traits. That’s an extra 50% damage on rocket launchers and grenades for a slight (15%) chance to set yourself on fire when you use explosives. Just a quick example I one shot La Perlas entire gang at the HQ with 1 rocket from the sabot rocket. I hit a few crits but like 3/5 had over 1.5k health.
I'm a recent player and my God do I love this game!! I'm sorry I did see the vid after playing but this is perfect for beginners my guy!!! Awesome video! Agree on sooo many things
about the antique perk thing pile up as much scrap as you can. they only sell/buy for 1$ regardless of skill or whatever. but when the antique perk happens the entire pile is multiplied when you sell it. so you can just sell and buy, sell and buy with out risk of losing money. but its 5% so it may take a while. i hope they dont fix this lol
Not a super useful tip really, but on a 1st PT I'd recommend not going for full auto weapons skills from the get go, leave that for later on in the game. Full auto weapons are not efficient, and at higher difficulty you need to save up on your supplies a lot, single shot weapons are a better choice. Once you've got the game more or less figured out, ammo management is not that big of a deal when you start making money. It's not nearly as punishing as it was in Wasteland 2, but it's still somewhat present. Goes without saying not to overlap characters with the same weapon skills that use the exact same ammo type, or you'll end up canibalizing your ammo supply pretty quickly, unless it's melee obviously. I like going more heavy on that in subsequent PTs just to add another layer of challenge in terms of management.
thanks a lot! just began this on ps4 and Im having a blast Taking my time with it, immersing myself in the world and really thinking of what type of character I build for example I made a Death Wish LMG/Rocket user and its just fun to play with or a shotgun tanky medic capable of reviving quickly and efficiiently in combat I really use the 2 extra companion slot, and one with the Animal perk it basically give you 7 companions, with one just there to distract and finish lowlife ennemies
The level 7 barter skill can be exploited. Just buy the scrap specific junk and resell it since it sells for a dollar and u can buy back it for a dollar. Just repeat that over and over. I got 150k
That church filled with the clowns gave me the most problems. So I just bought a bunch of drugs and wiped them out. xD Rhino on your melee/brawler is OP ASF. that +8 armor from the Rhino is worth it when you have 31 armor. :D tanking with melee/brawler and my partner that's a mime sniper is OP.

Don't forget there's a friendly fire achievement. So, when you blow up your squad mate, you can say "I meant to do that."
So random af, i gave my Mechanic a piece of toast after a tough fight and he went down from it and it gave me the achievement 😅😂
Oof! good luck! I hope you find someone to game with that is willing to take time ^^
Honestly Kionashi is right, if you don't feel like playing with someone, it is still a lot of fun solo.
Maybe you could look on a Wasteland 3 forum to see if there's anyone looking for someone to play with who is also in your situation?
NicholasKreuz Thanks for the suggestion bro
You still looking for a co op buddy I’ve wanted to try it at least for a while but I can’t recommend my buddy this till maybe next big patch I still break game often
Honestly this game is way too easy in the later half. No tips or tricks needed. There are so many simple ways to outscale the challenges. Final boss fights were pitifully fast.
"Play in co-op."
Yeah, never happening. I despise playing with others. I play at my pace and on my schedule. I don't want to be tied to someone else. Otherwise, sounds like good tips.
It was just a suggestion lol. Just an opinion still a good tip.
Ok this aint gonna work out
Death Proof your son is better than you lol
The AstroNerdBoy you seem like a peach ... I just love the people who need to come here and say no no i don’t like this and I need you to know this
@@Cubs1719 Kinda like what you are doing with me, eh? 😉
Two Perks to really consider: your Toaster Repair Ranger should get the perk that lets them find bonus items in toasters while your Mechanic should get the on that gives you a 25% chance to find bonus ammo. Both Perks help your entire party and stay strong throughout the entire game.
Finished first pass on ranger and never played a brawler tbh......no interest at all
Thank you I just started my first playthrough as a new fan of the series so I needed this
Hey. Hey. Look at me. Did you just suggest to me to use a RPG in this game against enemies as a tip? ...No! No! Bad video! Outside!
03:55 as of September 30, 2020 the "Timed Auto Saved" have been removed. I'm guessing that the 3 "autosave 1, autosave 2, and autosave 3" is enough. Maybe too many auto save is slowing the game down.
Not sure why I find this funny but I play it on PC game pass with a PS4 controller.
Not being able to respend perk points is a sin. That will definately get modded in.
just make a new ranger, lol. takes two minutes.
I've never ran out of perk points in fact I often don't know what to spend it on
Just keep one Ranger to 3-5 skills and you won't have a problem
I set autosave to 5 minutes the 3rd time my game crashed ^^
Ive heard auto sve is bugged and should be turned off.
@@cursedmonkey1033 the whole game is bugged and is virtually unplayable. I don't know about you but I prefer to play games for more than a few minutes at a time. I really thought this was a great game but considering how relatively little is actually happening in the game it ahouldn't be crashing like this... garbage
Might be a dumb question but, do you have to have the character with the high barter skill be the one that talks to the vendor?
Following
On wasteland 2 I used to save before I would open chests and reload till I got something good. Sometimes it worked and sometimes I would be reloading a save 10+ times...
Great vid matty, love it and love wasteland 3 so far. You mentioned the bartering thing as number one. 100% agree.
If you are graced by the RNG gods by selling a mass of scrap (Anything after 1000 is BIG bucks) you can make tens of thousands of dollars and be set for the rest of the game.
I sold 4,000 something scrap late game and made well over 200k.
turning Friendly Fire OFF does nothing. You still get hit by friendly player bullets & AoE fire/explosion
Update: I got over 1000 scraps and if i trigger it, I am getting 50k each time
LOL that's so broken
@@NickKzig I kinda knew scraps were a target of abuse since wasteland 2 had something similar but I didn't expect it to be this broken.
3/10 - Tips not brutally honest enough.
It's super unfortunate that consoles are having so much trouble with it. I hope that it gets fixed soon for you guys :(
two work outs on the first tip - you can have a barter specialist recruit that you don't actually play with and just pick him up to buy and sell stuff at the ranger hq (only negative is losing the barter dialogue options)
Also, the barter perk he mentioned ?
I bought the complete edition for 10$ the other day on xbox. havent started it yet but plan to start it soon, been watching vids on it for now.
If you play console, seriously, save before every menu. I've crashed 20% of my menu opens.
True true
Think I’ve been lucky there, no crashes in 10hrs so far.
@@moosehunter1969 You've been lucky indeed. Playstation or Xbox? Cause I'm on Xbox and the crashes are BAAAAD.
I need to double check my autosave settings. Lost an hour of progress because my last autosave was at the beginning of the game 😅
Sorry but Coop is completely broken atm, you literally cannot play it, tried 5 times and every single time it bugged out and was unplayable
Metalhead background/Explosives quirk/toaster repair perk about the heating coils/heavy weapons - flamethrower build = killing machine.
One shooting people? Doesn't work on ranger difficulty maybe in rookie lawl
With skill/attribute boosting items, can they take you past 'max' skill/attribute?
waste roamer is the best not build specific quirk when you play on the hardest difficulty since things like poison and burning can kill you outright and persist through downed state, just one status effect can you kill multiple times so being immune to all these effects is very useful.
I really want to play this game but i hear it has had a few issues on console might wait a bit for a few patches
Great game bro dive in 💪
@@alexbowles251 will do bud. I love rpgs thanks
Yeah it crashes like alot. Has crashed midway through editing characters on multiple occasions and has become so annoying especially with the long ass load times. I say wait for a patch then go for it.
@@MrMunnyT figured thanks for the insight ill deff get the game later
I dont like turn based games at all... But i cant stop playing this
Don’t underestimate the animal whisperer skill either. That honey badger is virtually indestructible and can take out a boss all by itself. And since it’s at melee range enemies will attack its massive health pool first. Goats also do decent damage at lower skill levels too.
Great camera dude, also thanks for the gameplay tips.
Animal Whisperer is a decent skill to invest in to use the animals as additional support.
about to get this after your review!
New patch day:) and it’s epically large, get a snack bc it takes a month to read the notes. This game is so damn good
S i n g l e player RPG forever, never muliplayer rush
Too bad co op is broken for console :(
Shrek is pleased ❤
I really hope they port this over to the switch eventually.
I wouldn't count on it, since inXile is now part of Microsoft.
Not Great at Gaming if anything msft is much more likely to port than a Sony studio. Cuphead and ori were both ported to the switch.
Wasteland 3 still doesn't run well on Xbox so I doubt the switch is powerful enough
Theres a way to respec once we start the game?
Can we get a comparison of wasteland 2 vs wasteland 3?
Unfortunately Mr Matty, the game is buggy as hell on PC Game Pass. It crashes to desktop, and wont launch. The reviews are abysmal because of it, which is super disappointing because I haven't managed to be able to play it on Game Pass, even though I keep hearing that this game is awesome
I have game pass for PC and have not had a single crash or bug. Check your firewall and or antivirus settings, sounds like something system specific that might be causing the problems your having.
What are your antivirus settings? Do you have to make sn exception for the wasteland 3 program? I have Avast but disabling it didn't fix the problem
I thought you were not into turn based rpg
One more for the tip jar
i appreciate your self awareness cuz these tips are definitely a few days late. Lova ya Matty!

PLAY DARK SOULS 3 AND REVIEW IT MATTY!
Was your brawler sett from LoL?
reminds me of a fallout tactics
Play co-op
How about no
Save the Game before Selling Your Stuff if you have antiques appraiser. And keep trying until you find the Best sell! Ones i has a Sell for 2000 something 2 try’s later over 6000!!
Playing on Gamepass now
Super late but when it comes to quirks also pyromaniac is busted.
Another tips: Play with frindly fire ON...it s very more funny and realistic EDIT:sorry i wasn t at that point yet!anyway grat video!
I'm a recent player and my God do I love this game!! I'm sorry I did see the vid after playing but this is perfect for beginners my guy!!! Awesome video! Agree on sooo many things
persona 5 music
about the antique perk thing
pile up as much scrap as you can. they only sell/buy for 1$ regardless of skill or whatever.
but when the antique perk happens the entire pile is multiplied when you sell it.
so you can just sell and buy, sell and buy with out risk of losing money. but its 5% so it may take a while.
i hope they dont fix this lol
Unless you have trash friends, can u think of a single game that is better in single player vs co-op??
There's a coop?
Nice gaytee dude
thanks a lot!
just began this on ps4 and Im having a blast
Taking my time with it, immersing myself in the world and really thinking of what type of character I build
for example I made a Death Wish LMG/Rocket user and its just fun to play with
or a shotgun tanky medic capable of reviving quickly and efficiiently in combat
I really use the 2 extra companion slot, and one with the Animal perk
it basically give you 7 companions, with one just there to distract and finish lowlife ennemies
Ahh I remember when I first started wasteland 2 and tried doing my normal jack of all trades type character and regretted it
The level 7 barter skill can be exploited. Just buy the scrap specific junk and resell it since it sells for a dollar and u can buy back it for a dollar. Just repeat that over and over. I got 150k
thanks MR matty
5% * 5000% = 1/20X * 50X = 2.5x. So junks sells for 250% value. Am i right :O
Antiques Appraiser damn near broke the game for me. I sold around 2000 scrap and got over 100k for it...
