I love how you don't complain about short barrels or short grips even with your large hands . Let's us know that even small guns are accurate. Training and shooting Wil make any handgun a useful tool. Love your videos brother
Thank you! My wife and I are still new gun owners. Bought our first fire arm two months ago, a 12 gauge for home defense and then of course my wife wanted a 20 gauge for herself and then we bought our boys a 22 rifle. Just a few weeks ago we decided we wanted a concealed carry gun and this was the exact gun we bought. I actually got a deal on it for $175. I love everything about it thanks for the videos
Hey man, thats an awesome deal on an LCP. The best thing you can do for yourself or wife to shoot it is to add a Hogue grip for around $10. It is the best thing I did for myself on my shield and the 2 LCP's I had; both of which I gave away to women I care for. Anyway, the LCP needs the grip. Hogue grip; hands down best thing you can do; 2nd or 3rd is trigger.
@@Weixu919 it is plenty sufficient. But if you can deal with slightly larger frame, always go with a 9 for anti ppl. I jog with the LCP because it is so small that there is no excuse for me to not carry with me. And nothing in standard calibers is more concealable. Buy the gun that you are least likely to leave at home.

One of the best CC pistols ever made. It is simple to take down for cleaning and lubing. You can easily load the magazines without having to use a loader. Price has remained reasonable. Mine has always been reliable. I wish Hickock would share his aiming techniques.
Yes bro, they are great guns. You gotta get a Hogue grip though. It costs around $10 and is the fix for the shabby grip available. The Hogue will change the game for this gun. Good luck
You're the best. You were one of the original UA-cam "gun guys," and you've taught me so much. The thing I like most about you is that you're a regular guy, and you have so many of the same thoughts that I do when I shoot the guns you talk about. Thank you so much!
Remember my old man had those wooden handle screwdrivers too. When he passed, I got all of them. Noticed them lately and thought of him. Saw this screwdriver and thought of him again. Thanks Hickok...
Great video as usual! Just bought the lcp 2 and it’s a perfect cc pistol. This thing packs a punch, you certainly wouldn’t want to be on the receiving end of this pistol. Added the hogue grip, highly recommended accessory.
No matter what gun you shoot you are hitting the targets. Goes to show experience is more important than price. Nice video. Going to look into one of these.

Hickok this is probably the 5th firearm I have purchased because of you 👍🏼👍🏼I just bought a LCP 2 after not wanting a .380. I always said the smallest I wanted was a 9 mm. But my M&P Shield 9 is small but I did not always pocket carry. With this I do now and it is a nice little pistol, reliable (300+ rds and fits nice in my hand 🤚 ( I'm 6'0") Never leave home without it 🔫
Enjoy watching your videos. Glad you did this LCP ll video. I’ve been carrying mine for a couple years now and I just love it. Best carry pistol I’ve ever had, and it is very accurate. Thanks again for your videos, very much appreciated. 😊
I know this video is 4 years old, but you helped set my mind to the Ruger. I've been wanting a pocket concealed carry, since I been trying to conceal a full size Glock 17 9mm, because of my hands being so big like yours. This is the next gun I will buy, thank you Hickok.
Excellent review! I have a Custom and carry it in complete confidence; it's as safe as a double action revolver. Provided a family member with an lcp11. He will never carry with a round in the chamber so it's ideal for him.
I also own all 3 of these, and the original remains my favorite. I prefer a heavy trigger for a pocket gun - it is far safer that way. Also, the sights on the LCP2 are closer to the LCP custom, making getting it in/out of a pocket more likely to snag.
"It's a firearm I've always wanted to like; maybe more than I do...". Talley ho on that one. I bought one three weeks ago. I was looking for something that was slightly larger than my Beretta Pico. First range visit was a disaster-enriched learning opportunity. I cleaned and lubricated it before I took it to the range. On the first round the magazine popped out in my hand. So I changed my grip. Second round same issue. I tried shooting it with one hand, no help. The encouraging thing was that each round was very accurate, if that makes sense. I still like the idea of this gun. When I finally get it back from Ruger I'll re-attack the problem. Great video.
How did it do after Ruger looked at it? Literally just sent mine in for the same exact reasons. And im waiting for them to send it back to me. Hoping they actually fixed it. I've tried different mags and they all release while shooting.
@@kordgreenough9933 I have a Sig P238 as well. It has its own personality traits but as long as I keep it tuned up, so to speak, it has been reliable and accurate. My Beretta Pico has (pleasantly) surprised me the most but it took me awhile to get to where I trusted its reliability and my ability to shoot it well. The only reliability issue I had with it was caused by the trigger binding in the frame; an easy fix. The Body Guard seems like an obvious choice...good luck with that.
Your video's have helped me make some decisions this month on my 9mm and 380. Once I held the LCP 2 and felt the trigger pull I was sold. Can't wait to take it to the range to try it out.
I love all you gun reviews. Plus I also love to watch you shoot! I recently purchased the LCP II 380 due to size, weight, and ease of pocket carry. I did carry a Walther 9mm PPS M2. Since the average conflict normally takes place only a few feet apart, 380 hollow points will make most people want to quit their attack!
I have the original LCP and you have convinced me to purchase the II. I will be ordering from Buds today. I no longer purchase guns without watching your channel first. Thank you
Went into Buds in Sevierville today for a G4 Glock 20 and left with the polar opposite, the LCP 2. I sold my original LCP last year after 4 years of pocket carrying it. I always absolutely hated the trigger. Sold it since my Shield and G43 are so easy to carry. After trying the lcp 2 trigger today, I had to have one for those times I can't carry IWB.
My LCP II had to go back to Ruger for repair twice in 2019, the year in which I purchased it. The first time was to replace the extractor, which ejected while I was shooting at the range. The repair caused 5 new problems: (1) the magazine would drop after every shot; (2) the slide would not hold open after the last shot half the time; (3) when it did hold open, dropping the magazine would cause the slide to fly forward; (4) expended shells would fly over or hit my head instead of flying out to the right; (5) some failures to feed. Again, back to Ruger. Ruger"s superb customer service took care of me, and the LCP II seems to be operating fine now. I also had to send back an EC9s five times for repair and a Security 9 three times. All work OK now.
I recommend the Hogue handall Beaver Tail Grip Sleeve , Not only does it improve the looks & feel of the Pistol it Helps tame the stout recoil and positions your trigger finger in the the correct position on the trigger so you don't pull shots due to your trigger finger being in the wrong position.
Hi Mr. Hickok, was re watching your LCP ll video once again from seven years ago, man how time flys!! I noticed that when you had that hiccup with the gun didn’t go into battery, your offhand thumb was directly behind the slide. Think that was the problem, not a criticism sir just an observation. Love your videos and as a man your age I marvel at your skills as a shooter and your sons skills as the man behind the lens, that is why you two are the benchmark of shooting videos!!!!!!!
Thanks to both of you for the excellent reviews including the LCP II. My LCP II has been a good pocket gun for me. I will note that it does not have a firing pin block. Because it lacks this safety, I carry with the hammer cocked but nothing in the pipe.
If this guy ever got frisked by the police I can just picture all kinds of guns falling out of every pocket, sock, waistband, and a couple under his hat.
Bought one for my wife a while back. She absolutely loves it! We also bought the extended 1rd mag from ruger, it gives a place for your pinky finger to hold onto much better!! Just a great little gun for your edc.
love your videos, I bought the lcp when it first came out and I love it, put many rounds thru it with no problems and I am pretty accurate with it, great gun.
I've been carrying the Taurus TCP in my dress pants pocket 5 days a week for years. I just picked up the new LCP II. After a couple hundred rounds an no malfunctions, I'm retiring the TCP to backup duty and switching to the LCP II for the improved sights and trigger. It's so easy to shoot fast and accurately, shoots more like a compact 9 than a pocket pistol.
I think I saw when it failed to go back into battery you left thumb was slightly behind the slide. I was waiting for the ouch! Great videos I love your channel...
Had to service a Ruger LCP 380 this morning for a friend . Had some rust on the slide . Lubed up and the rust came right off . Lol first thing I checked because it wasn’t my pistol was to make sure it wasn’t loaded . A while back I cleaned a Ruger 45 pistol for a girl I know , took it out of the case , checked it , and it was loaded with a round in the chamber . Glad I’m not one of these people that put their finger right on the trigger . Even when I look at new pistols in a gun shop , I NEVER touch the trigger . That’s like branded In my mind .
Very impressive shooting with the LCP II. I have the LCP custom. It's a great pocket pistol. Also have the LC9 for conceal carry. I'm not a fan of the long trigger pull though.
bought the gun several months ago 500 rds later I can tell ya it's freaking awesome, wouldn't mind if Ruger charged a little more to use a better finish other than bluing.
I have one of these myself,I’ve owned a few .380 and this thing ZIPS! The lcp 2 is a fantastic little pocket gun for when I go out with my family. Usually most my life I have carried 4 inch sigs and to switch to something so small I was a bit nervous, now I can say with out a doubt this was a great switch I made.
I went to my shooting club's quarterly shooting competition and stupidly forgot to pack my pistol that I usually compete with. So I pulled out my LCP and came in second place. It's not a bad shooter. But I admit that this result probably says more about the pistol skills in my shooting club than it does about the LCP.
Lastindependentthinker hey your small stature doesn’t mean small gun. Quite the opposite is true actually. You would shoot a full size much better BUT for concealment purposes small is good.
Bought my LCP II a few months ago. I have had to return it to Ruger TWICE for repairs. The first time was because the pistol ejected the extractor while I was shooting at the range, very strange. I got it back then some new problems occurred: magazine would drop out after every shot; after racking the slide, it would fly forward upon releasing the magazine; slide would lock back on last round only half the time; spent cartridges would fly over my head instead of to the right half the time. Little concerned about Ruger reliability. I've also had to return my EC9s twice, and my Security 9 once.
Does anybody know if the trigger on the original LCP can be switched out for a better one? I am guessing no or else it would have been mentioned, but I figured I'd give a try. Thanks.
After your review of the Ruger LCP II, I'm definitely going to get one. On Nov 1st, Oklahoma Constitutional Carry law goes into effect. Thanks Hickok45.....I greatly appreciate your mastery of firearms !
Gosh I'm late but I'm debating between the Bodyguard .380 and this LCP II. I already have a M&P shield 9 and would think I'd feel at home with the bodyguard but that Ruger does look nice. Need some help hickok. :D
I just picked up an lcp 2 and boy am I excited! This things trigger seems way better than some other handguns I've shot. Very crisp, and it's a beautiful little pocket rocket.
Great review again! Love it, I've got one. You're right, dot the front sight. Also, do yourself a favor and get the seven round extended grip mag, makes all the difference in the world to me. Can get my pinkie on the grip without printing much. They just came out with em, about $25, but well worth it!
Good review as usual. I am considering one of these for pocket carry. I tried one at the local range. I had the same issue with the sight picture. A little paint. I also had the slide hit my thumb once. Big hands, little pistol. The only thing that annoyed me was that it seemed to eject shell casings forward which meant I couldn't recover them for reloading due to the indoor range configuration. I can live with that. Your opinion helped. Thanks!
Hi Hickok45, My husband and I have been watching your channel for a couple weeks now. We've learned a lot from you. I haven't found anything here on a 32 cal revolver. Is there a video about that? If not, would you consider doing a video on one? I've been thinking about one for a ccw. I know it's not exactly what most would carry, but with the arthritis in my hands, I was told this would have less kick and be easier for my hands. Thank you. :-)
Something in .327 Federal Magnum might be appealing to you. It's a new cartidge, and I think both S&W and Ruger chamber firearms in it. It will chamber less powerful .32s also. Just a thought.
It's hard to find 32 S&W/Long self defense ammo. Almost everything I am seeing is just plain soft lead for a 32S&W/long. You may appreciate the ammo selection for a 327 fed.

@@adrianakuzmikova1697 Vedder holsters pocket locker is what I use. Extra I just throw in another pocket. Desantis nemesis if I decide to put in jacket or cargo pocket. If super deep Vedder holsters light tuck at 4 o'clock or 1 o'clock
@@ScarredCitizen He didn't ask you..
Hey man, add a Hogue grip for around $10 to you LCP. It will make the LCP a way better gun for retention and comfort among other things. The Hogue grip is a must have for a gun so thin. I even have a hogue grip on my shield and loved it there so I got one when I got the original LCP and my mom's has a grip also.
Hickok you gave the best exhibition of cleaning and lubrication of an AR I have seen in a long time. Thank you.
I've been carrying my LCPII in my back pocket while walking through Seattle (after midnight) for two years now and feel quite safe. Even more so now after watching this review.
Michael Reeser One in the chamber?
Just curious
Only commies carry with an empty chamber
What I’m the world are you doing walking around after midnight in Seattle? Just kidding, I’m from Seattle so it’s a good idea to be strapped
@@jefferylawrence9812 lol I’m from Seattle too. Gotta carry now. Shootings up 40%. Thanks you incompetent mayor and city council
I’d carry at 3 in the afternoon. Doesn’t have to be nighttime to keep yourself protected ;)
This man Hickok is my go to when i wanna buy a new gun for the past 10 years..from my first gun at 21 to my little pocket rocket at 31
You down with LCP? Yeah, you know me.
Hickok by Nature...
😆👍
Woot woot
Does it have enough stopping power? I would like to carry one for night-jogging in Chicago.
As a fellow senior citizen that cherishes firearms and has a great deal of respect for those who knows who and what is what, keep on keepin on. Amen and Amen brother. God bless.
There's gotta be a gun called the Hickok 45
Some kind of 1911 model for sure
See the HK45. Everyone knows they named it after him 😂

I really enjoy the sound it makes when you walk through brass, gravel and shotgun shells.
No matter what gun you shoot you are hitting the targets. Goes to show experience is more important than price. Nice video. Going to look into one of these.
I love that you don't talk for 20 minutes before a round goes down range.Just right into the action! Great vid!
Just bought one with the integrated green Viridian laser. I was going to go with the LCP MAX, but that square front sight just makes me think that it'd going to get caught on my pocket if I have to draw quickly. I can't thank you enough for these videos!
@@natjonestower3035 did you get it? i got the lcp 2 because i needed a defencive gun to protect myself from my skitzophrenic niehbor who threatend my family if she was to try to kill us like she said. ive takin it to the range to figure out how to use it, took me a second to get the recoil down but now its like nothing im 200 rounds in so far not a failure. i use fiochi 95gfmj but i bought a box of S&B 92g because the gun store i go to was closed today. hope the S&B is good. i know fiochi is. love my lcp 2 tho its easy to conceal and carry 24/7 makes me feel alot safer as well. i recomend a boraii pocket holster its a edc for me, i also have a concealment express iwb holster for it too
Hey man, grab a Hogue grip for around $10 online. It is the best fix for the retention and comfort shooting these firearms. It is such a great addon. Good luck man
First time at the range, I got an excellent group at 10 yds. It’s my first single action pistol, and I’m so impressed with the ease and accuracy. It pretty much put my Sig 365 on the back burner for my edc. Love Hickok reviews!
Man, Carhartt can make a t-shirt. He's got 5 loaded mags in the front pocket and not even a loose seam.
This is why Hickok 45 is the preeminent reviewer of handguns. Not sure why I went anywhere else when I could have came here first, thank you so much!
Hickok this is probably the 5th firearm I have purchased because of you 👍🏼👍🏼I just bought a LCP 2 after not wanting a .380. I always said the smallest I wanted was a 9 mm. But my M&P Shield 9 is small but I did not always pocket carry. With this I do now and it is a nice little pistol, reliable (300+ rds and fits nice in my hand 🤚 ( I'm 6'0") Never leave home without it 🔫
Lancair W what does being 6-0” mean!? Lol you could be 6-4” and have smallish hands I’m just joking with you but you see what I mean?
Best Ruger LCP video featuring the three models for comparison - period!
It looks like Hickock added Tactical Laundry Detergent DLC to his range setup.

Enjoy watching your videos. Glad you did this LCP ll video. I’ve been carrying mine for a couple years now and I just love it. Best carry pistol I’ve ever had, and it is very accurate. Thanks again for your videos, very much appreciated. 😊
A little surprised to see him hammer the slide pin back in. pulling the slide slightly back releases pressure and allows the pin to easily slide in.
what holster do you use for ruger LCP 2?
I know this video is 4 years old, but you helped set my mind to the Ruger. I've been wanting a pocket concealed carry, since I been trying to conceal a full size Glock 17 9mm, because of my hands being so big like yours. This is the next gun I will buy, thank you Hickok.
Excellent review! I have a Custom and carry it in complete confidence; it's as safe as a double action revolver. Provided a family member with an lcp11. He will never carry with a round in the chamber so it's ideal for him.
This guy is just the best! Extremely popular UA-camr as a senior :) reminds me of my grandpa almost! Take care Mr. 45!
@@kordgreenough9933 It worked well for 150 rounds or so then returned to the same issue. I gave up on it.
That's disappointing. I was hoping I wouldn't have to get rid of it. May have to get a Smith and Wesson bodyguard.
How is your p238? Love the look of those. But they seem pretty pricy. Is it a nice pocket gun? Heavy?
I got mine 2 weeks ago! I love it! I'm a 60 yo grandma and its much easier for me to carry than my Ruger sr9c, though I like that gun too.
Hickok45 scares the hell out of me he's hitting a red plate with this LCP at 75 yards that's only one foot wide 🤠
I recommend the Hogue handall Beaver Tail Grip Sleeve , Not only does it improve the looks & feel of the Pistol it Helps tame the stout recoil and positions your trigger finger in the the correct position on the trigger so you don't pull shots due to your trigger finger being in the wrong position.
can't see the sight, proceeds to hit in the 10 ring
sureshot jay yeah we all saw it!
I put hoque grips on my lcp, alot nicer. Love this gun. Easily concealed and doesn't weigh you down!
Thanks to both of you for the excellent reviews including the LCP II. My LCP II has been a good pocket gun for me. I will note that it does not have a firing pin block. Because it lacks this safety, I carry with the hammer cocked but nothing in the pipe.
If this guy ever got frisked by the police I can just picture all kinds of guns falling out of every pocket, sock, waistband, and a couple under his hat.
lmao 🤡
Bought one for my wife a while back. She absolutely loves it! We also bought the extended 1rd mag from ruger, it gives a place for your pinky finger to hold onto much better!! Just a great little gun for your edc.
thank you ! I found my new concealed carry.
I watch a lot of pistol videos, and you--by far--are the best shooter.
love your videos, I bought the lcp when it first came out and I love it, put many rounds thru it with no problems and I am pretty accurate with it, great gun.
Hickok is the king of shooting , just fun and accurate . Would love to shoot with him . Love his reviews .
At 17:35 it appears as though the slide hits your thumb and that's what seems to have caused the failure to go into battery.
Never found a good reason to trade in my Taurus TCP... the LCP II looks pretty good though...
I think I saw when it failed to go back into battery you left thumb was slightly behind the slide. I was waiting for the ouch! Great videos I love your channel...
Great Video! I pick mine up in the morning.
I agree with you on the paint. I have the older model and put a little orange paint on on the front sight and it makes the gun much more shootable.
bought the gun several months ago 500 rds later I can tell ya it's freaking awesome, wouldn't mind if Ruger charged a little more to use a better finish other than bluing.
Still like mine. Replacement recoil rod and super polished the feed ramp. VERY easy carry.
outstanding. I to am a "non 380" guy. BUT i have been thinking about getting one since ammo is better these days. Thanks!
Andy Palm - At arms length, 380 and 9mm kinda do the same thing.
With modern ammo the .380 is very sufficient
I have one of these myself,I’ve owned a few .380 and this thing ZIPS! The lcp 2 is a fantastic little pocket gun for when I go out with my family. Usually most my life I have carried 4 inch sigs and to switch to something so small I was a bit nervous, now I can say with out a doubt this was a great switch I made.
I love Hickok45!!! You're my new role model!!!
Tyler Small I hope your like 16!years old looking for a mentor
You are man Mr Hickok! I love watching you enjoy your backyard .. what an awesome setup
Has the days go by, the 2 liter's and pumpkins sigh, and tremble in fear , when Hickock 45 is near🤣
Little Cool Pistol. Sure wish I could get one of those in my country. To someone who is 5'6" it looks good.
Lastindependentthinker hey your small stature doesn’t mean small gun. Quite the opposite is true actually. You would shoot a full size much better BUT for concealment purposes small is good.
Lastindependentthinker bruh this fun is so tiny. Smaller than a pack of cigarettes it will look small on anybody.

Full size pistol are difficult to conceal. This thing you can just throw in your front pocket and won't even notice it
14:50 😂😂😂 Wait for the punch line, that's why I've been a fan for 10+ years
Great overview
He explains guns really well, hickok 45,is a cool dude
Maybe dumb comment. But if you put the new mag in the original LCP will the slide lock back?
there are mag followers you can toss on your old LCP mags to hold the slide back after the last shot. Just google it.
357 Mag are you sure?what if you make it re as l shiny. lol
WxGuy nope I called ruger they said no
Bought my LCP II a few months ago.
The trigger on new "original" LCPs is fine. Still breaks far back but not all the way. Certainly no worse than say a PM9.
myantispambox Agreed
myantispambox Certainly no worse than the LC9.
I have no problem with the LC9 trigger but your mileage might vary
atSHADOWBAT The original LC9 and not the LC9S? The original trigger was horrendous.
dee7976 what you end up getting? I tried the bodyguard and do not like it at all.
Bodyguard is known for lite strikes i would trust Ruger all day
I have a Performance Shield 9 and a LCP2. Perfect combo. Wish I had a proper shooting range like Hickok.
I just picked up an lcp 2 and boy am I excited! This things trigger seems way better than some other handguns I've shot. Very crisp, and it's a beautiful little pocket rocket.
I've got the 380 Bodyguard and am very happy with it for concealed carry. Considering a Ruger also as I just like to own and shoot a variety of guns.
I learn something new each time I watch Hickok45. I like the lcp 22lr but it's rimfire....so most likely going with the lcp 380 acp.
Will hickok ever do a gun in .32 ACP?
Yep, right after he starts doing slingshot reviews.
.32 probably the most useless cal out there.
I like the .32 caliber carry what you are comfortable with not what these yahoos say it’s your life your gun
Thank you. :-)
We did a .32 caliber Detective Special. See FAQ Video 54 for how to search a UA-cam channel if needed.
Thank you!
Something in .327 Federal Magnum might be appealing to you. It's a new cartidge, and I think both S&W and Ruger chamber firearms in it. It will chamber less powerful .32s also. Just a thought.
Thank you
It's hard to find 32 S&W/Long self defense ammo. Almost everything I am seeing is just plain soft lead for a 32S&W/long. You may appreciate the ammo selection for a 327 fed.
