Man I'm 41 and will be 42 this coming February, i was a pup when this came out, but mid to late 80's was the best music, fishing, memories with my family and my dad's friends, was just awesome. Rip dad/mom/ grandparents/ and uncle's, alot of those memories are with people that arw no longer on this earth. But Alabama, Hank, and few other country bands bring those memories back...
I could have wrote the exact same words ypu did. I'm 41 too. I used to listen to Barbra Brooks on 99.9 KZLA and 99.9 Super Country in Kingman Arizona. All the D.J.'s knew me. Alabama, Hank, Ronnie Millsap, Dan Seals, man Country music sure is dead.

Respect my friend 👏. I was born 1993 and grew up with my dad listening to country while he drank Coors, Alabama and Banquet go hand in hand with each other, because now I'm doing the same 🍺🥃🍻
My favorite all time band. Still listening in 2022. I took my wife to her first concert in Bristol, TN on Aug 14, 2021. America opened up for Alabama. That was an awesome night!
I love how Alabama leaned into that glitzy 80's sound, but they never took the country out of it. It's such an interesting moment in country music history and they are one of the greats from that era. They really carved a unique sound. You know it's them when you hear it and the hooks, vocals, playing.. always deliver.
Man I remember some of my upbringing wasn't so good but the radio on the fridge playing from morning till night was a blessing ... So many wonderfull tunes like this carved into my soul and made the rough times so much more tollerable ! Almost brings a tear to my eye hearing this song wow !! 🥹
This classic song by Alabama has been playing on my mind multiple times within the past month for some reason, I happen to know of the existence of this sizzling song because this was one of the songs that would sometimes play on the country music radio that my late adoptive mother enjoyed listening to.
I remember these old ALABAMA records at my family's cabin in WV on the Cacapon River, they played loud enough the neighbors had no choice but to come over party with us, because they weren't getting any sleep that weekend.
There will never ever be another Alabama...this group is legendary...nothin brings back memories of growin up on my familys huge farm in bogalusa, Louisiana...huntin, fishin, campin, tendin cattle...we moved to Tn in 1991, farm still in family...go back often...lost my pawpaw on the farm in 1998, and everytime i hear alabama play most any song on the radio, the memories come floodin back...what an awesome bunch of guys...i know many of you all can relate....80s-90s country live on....and hey bless them truckers they keep america movin.....ROLL ON
Does anyone else think this sounds similar to “The Closer You Get”.? “By the dark of the moon, there’s a fire in the night.” “The closer you get, the further I fall.” Great song!!
I think this song means . They found each other in the spur of the moment . It opened their eyes . It's something they will never forget , as long as live . But it probably won't ever happen again . (There's A) Fire InThe Night
Very best of all times. What happened to real country music in the 80s and early 90's. So many great artist, I remember my first concert ever Alabama 1986.....Thank you Mom for the great memories!
I could tell you exactly what happened to good country music like this but the ones responsible for the death of good old country music also control UA-cam and all other forms of media. Their name ends in Berg, witz, cohen, or sten almost every single time
No one compares to the music of Alabama and I doubt any band in country will be as good or as liked as this 4 man juggernaut. As good today as the day it was released. I'm glad I was smart enough to go see them a few times. Just play some down home music that comes from the heart......something with lots of feeling.....cuz that's where music has to start. Thanks Alabama for being part of the soundtrack to my life....
From the album "Roll On" (1984). The music video was directed by David Hogan, and produced by Hogan Entertainment. The video aired on TNN, CMT, and GAC. The video features the band sitting at a campfire at night.🙂
M 33 and I am a hard core alabama fan and have been since I was a kid. I know most of their songs and even got 2 see them last year when they came 2 Columbus.
This band was and will always be the best in country music i have always loved their music but it's so hard to find a station that plays this kind of music we need a station that plays golden oldies like these
My favorite band I grew up listening to these men!! They hold a special place in my heart. My aunt is right in that mountain in fort Payne Alabama. I live in Georgia but born and bred in Alabama and damned proud of it. I just love every song they have and what about young Randy yes I think so. My biggest childhood crush for sure and I don't even like guys with facial hair, lol. But he can sing a song right into my heart always has. Be on that mountain this Sunday for sure God willing.
My Dad lived on a farm & loved country so much, he'd have his city buddies tape the videos for him! This song was a rewind for him one day while I was visiting. Alabama made me fall in love with country.
No other band can fill ALABAMA'S SHOES....NEVER...MISS THEM SOOOO MUCH..SO MANY MEMORIES SEEING THEM IN CONCERT & AT THE JUNE JAM'S...IT'S EVEN MORE PERSONAL WHEN U GET TO KNOW THEM :) NOT ENUF SPACE TO COMMENT HOW GREAT THEY ARE....
When Alabama was first starting here in Myrtle Beach, S.C. when they played at the Bowery on Ocean Blvd they lived in my Aunt's Trailer Park off Hwy 15 and I was a pup myself💜
This reminds me of one time my friend made me go out for the night. She said I stayed home too much. I went to the next town over Muskogee Oklahoma. We met a guy in a bar said he was on a camping trip with his friends. He said he had been wanting to go to Muskogee, Oklahoma just to see it. I took the guy home with me and I let him spend the night. And then this song came out and it has reminded me of that night ever since.
this song takes me back to the summer of 87. I was 12 cruising with my uncle Jerry in his 78 Chevy 4X4 stepside. he had this cassette and we would just crank this tune all the way up. I just thought that was the coolest damn thing. one of my fondest memories. we lost uncle Jerry in 2000 from cancer linked to agent orange
Rip Jeff Cook.... When I hear the thunder ⛈️⚡... I will know its Mr Cook up in the clouds... Still playing that mountain music

I'm nearly 60! I was 23 when I got hooked on Alabama and I've never looked back
Same here and rasied with them cranking out the hits in the 80's
Was lucky enough to ride around to the east coast in the 90s listening to this with my dad as he put dinner on the table
I'm 44 and totally agree. It's sad that classics like this aren't still being made.
I'm 45. I remember me and my uncle jamming out to this era of Alabama. The good ole days
This song must have been released in September of 1984, because it went #1 in January 1985.
Great band
country needs to go back to what it was then. this is real music ... true country
Hi Sarah
Sarah Seltzer-I can listen to great old school country music on Willie's Roadhouse in my car, ch. 59.
