That’s awesome Wayne! I’m originally from Nashville and sad to say, my former city killed Country Music! It’s now beyond awful. It’s all about “sex appeal”. I’m very disappointed to say the least.
Not sure about the clean part but yea a lot of Country today sounds like someone trying to Cosplay and play a character. It is a lot of pandering which annoys me as a longtime fan and Southerner.
It’s not like there isn’t good country singers anymore. Chris Stapleton, Chris young, Chris Jansen, Luke combs, Carrie underwood, and Blake Shelton ain’t bad either
I was fortunate to interview Marty while I was working at an Alabama radio station. Near the end of the interview I asked him if he would play a couple of bars of Next To You, Next To Me for my friend Dave. After tuning his guitar, Marty asked me, what's Dave's last name? I replied Benefield, and Marty said, "Dave Benefield, here's your tune bud." He played the entire song, and it's moment Dave nor I will ever forget!
Funny you say that, my parents love this song and they been married for 47 yrs. I recently bought them a shirt with cartoon pics of them and it has their names. Saying "Annoying each other for 47 years and still going strong"
Nine years ago today, my Dad's Pastor started off his sermon with: A familiar song said, "There ain't no place I'd rather be, next to you, sitting next to me." And we can nod our heads at that sentiment. We like being with the people we love. There is really no place we'd rather be than at their side. This is what makes long distance relationships so challenging. This is what makes weeks like this one so very painful. Someone we love is no longer with us. You long to be near him, to have just a little more time, and he is gone. But someone else is very near. Someone who was near and dear to Richard throughout his life. Someone who drew Richard ever closer to Him. Today, we can say with quiet confidence, Richard is near to God! This song has always been a favorite of mine, but nine years ago today; EVEN MORE! Wanted to share this special meaning to whoever reads it. I felt inclined like maybe it would help someone else as it has my family and I. What a great song. Shenandoah may not realize it but it is a song that will stick with me until I am next to Jesus and my Dad!
My dad's name was also Richard. He passed on to glory four years ago next month. I had the honor of preaching his funeral. I know that daddy is with Jesus, and I, too, will join them someday. It brings me great peace to know that my dad had a great faith in Jesus and he sees Him now, face to face!
Never in my wildest dreams would i have believed anyone if they told me that when I was older in life I'd hear this gem live standing right next to my husband at 40 and this was my favorite song as a child! Long live great country music! Thank you for the incredible memories 🙏❤
This is, imo, one of the greatest songs ever performed in country music history. At least the greatest country hit of its generation (late 80s/early 90s). I can play this song a thousand times over and I'll never get tired of it. Those really were the good old days of country music imo.
My sweet wonderful woman had barbecue chicken on the table when I came in from work. I sang, " barbecue chicken and the TV Guide" lyric. Then we listened together. Good new memories from a great old song
A very corny video BUT both the song and video are G rated, and more importantly wholesome. I love this song. I wish music would go back this and also the wonderful music of the 50s and 60s.
Jesus today I am going be just like You , I want to be so much , cause the Creator of heaveN and Earth , we have sinned according to this book the Bible , deceived right , well I then realized that I woke up like a Little Child I'm going please My God today like My Savior Jesus . But the thing a perfect creation that fell away coming back to the King of Kings I love You Jesus guide mE I want to please Father God but don't know how except to listen for Every Command. I standing there saying I don't know what You would have me to do next , Right to leave the Words on my My heart that it could be possible , singing that Jesus is King , Jesus is King , right could be enough if they understood what that meant right , Your mansion is built . So I see the thing is my best bet would have my eyes , stuck on You , Peter turns His head and falls in the Water , now with Luke I needed a neck brace so it can't turn , yeah but what your seeing You might not agree with , I hear that familiar voice a neck brace forever . LoL cause how come I pray for Him , Peter cause it had to make Both You disappointed right cause sit Me down tell Me how not you turn away from Perfection after Prayer for Peter what seemed the day He fell short , I realized He could have kept it straight on You if You would have Willed it but as He was seeing the Glory He also would have maybe been ready for the Heavens right .
I found you everywhere I go my sweet America: I found the country music I love even thousands of miles away listening to a US air base in the region pf the country where I was born and lived . Used to write you in my diaries calling you AM(America) dreaming about you and feeling you were the reason I went on and lived...Thank you.
The fact that these guys are allowed to have their own their own music and UA-cam channel and aren't owned by a label is pretty crazy. Those days are almost gone.
For 4th of July, I was able to go watch them with my grandma and dad and it was the best music I have ever heard. I actually got to meet Marty and I couldn’t stop smiling, that is one thing I will never forget, while he was performing, I walked up to the stage and got a lot of pictures and when I met him he asked if my pictures turned out good and I will always have them so I don’t forget one of the best nights of my life

Exactly.
Not sure about the clean part but yea a lot of Country today sounds like someone trying to Cosplay and play a character. It is a lot of pandering which annoys me as a longtime fan and Southerner.
90's country was by far the best. God I loved Shenandoah, Tracy Lawrence, Joe Diffy, Blackhawk etc.
Oh definitely. I was raised on that shit lol. 90s country rocks.
