Ronnie Milsap was a musical genius. A blind man making incredible music. Singing, writing and even playing most of the instruments. Truly remarkable talent!
Want to tell you about Ronnies character. Man played a free Concert at the western Montana Fair. Was a huge turnout but the crowd was dead. My cousin and I was up at the stage cheering him on, drunk, the crowd never gave him his props. So my cousin and I did. He had to be guided back to his bus because he was blind, took awhile to get him there. I said to Ronnie, could you play one more- he kind of ignored me- I told him I’m sorry about the crowd but they don’t know who you are BUT I DO, would you please play one more. He turned around and came back and played one more for my cousin and I. I thanked him on stage again and he bowed to me. What a guy, never will forget that. Ronnie Milsap was George Strait before George was. He had almost 50 Number 1traditional country hits. He was a King in country music. Imagine what a blind man went thru to accomplish what he did. Man has been thru the fire. Bless you Ronnie for loving the fans.
Back in the 80's when the jewelry department in WalMart was a separate little entity I had to go to one. It happened to be in the same hotel they were staying in. The meeting opened with the damn jewery people telling us Ronnie asked if he could do a song for us. So of course we're thinking they grew a heart. Hell no.The damn jewelry people told him NO! WHY?😢😢 YOU MIGHT ASK...BECAUSE THEY WERE ASSHOLES. I will NEVER quit carrying this grudge over those RAT BASTARDS!
This song is 40+ years old, and it still sounds fresh and amazing... Ronnie Milsap was among the best of the best in the 70s and 80s, so many great hits.
It's 2022 and I'm still listening to his music. Ronnie Millsap is one of my many favorite Country Music singers. I've always loved and appreciated him.
I have always loved this guy. He was one of my mom's favorites that I used to play all the time on the record player. I would sit on the floor with records laying around me and make a quick change to play the next song by specific track so she, and I, could enjoy nearly uninterrupted hits on vinyl. Great memories of my mom listening to Ronnie Millsap, Eddie Rabbit, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, Anne Murray, Alabama and other greats of the 80s.
I'm so glad to hear other people feel the same way as I do! I love his music! Wish he'd make more! I also grew up listening to him! My favorite artist still today!
One of the most under appreciated artist in country music. A lot of good songs from this guy. Update: Yes, he had many accolades back in the day, but he is never mentioned as one of the greats today. Cash, Kenny Rogers, Dolly among others are always mentioned, but I've never heard a modern country singer recognize Milsap as an influence. That is underappreciated.
Every fan says that about their favorite band or artist. Count the number of bands and artists with that comment and you'll get about six hundred thousand of them.
It's 2024 what can i say Thank You Ronnie Milsap. You are a great person I love your music ! My wife was taken away from me 2007. I'm here I'm not giving up !
Actually, the Congenital Disorder left him ALMOST completely blind from birth. I’ll bet he’s for sure classified as “legally blind” even though he’s not 100% blind.
Damn that takes me back to my childhood. So glad my momma raised me on real country and rock. This is an "all time" song. Kinda sad when you hear what passes for country today. Long live the outlaws and the story tellers.
This man is incredible, he’s had so many hits, I miss these songs being played on the radio at least in Canada there’s so many talented 70’s and 80’s country stars that need to be heard from this country generation now !

Ronnie Milsap is a favorite country singer of mine. He was progressive and willing to change with the times as with this song which was a hit with country and pop fans.
Tracie Jeffers I also like the rock band "Ambrosia" from the 70s. I think there's good & bad in every generation of music. The 60s was a good generation. The big bands of the 40s were good. The 50s was "hokey" in my opinion & I HATED trash like "Yakety Yak". I also hated Louie, Louie & Sloopy Hang On....I don't know what years they were from. That being said, I loved the 60s Motown.
I was searching for a different song called Stranger and I happened to see this, so out of curiousity I checked it out. I am blown away by how epic this song is! WOW
I’ll be 40 this year in July and I listened to his cassette tape on my Walkman when I was push mowing the front yard as a kid.❤ I used my moms huge Panasonic headphones with the long curly cord! The good ole days, RIP mom🥺

This is one of my favorite songs. It won Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1984. This song is written by Mike Reid. He was a All-Pro and Pro Bowl player for Cincinnati Bengals. He wrote of more than 30 top-10 country and pop hits including his own No. 1 country hit, "Walk on Faith".
One of the reasons he left the Bengals was because he didn't want to take the chance of damaging his hands...not only did he write but also played piano. He was an outstanding defensive lineman.

Ronnie plays piano and keyboards (probably synth & organs). Not most of the instruments in his song catalog.

Milsap is one of the greats without a doubt, drastically underappreciated especially internationally.
2022 and Ronnie’s still the best! His music still got me rockin’!💕
He fit so perfectly into the 80’s music era. Every time I hear his songs, it reminds of places in the 80’s. Loved his songs back then and now...
