Chris Rea, uno de los mejores guitarristas del mundo. Cómo veo que sabes apreciar a un buen músico, te recomiendo que aprecies las excelentes guitarras de David Paton (bajista) y de Ian Bairnso (requinto). As a man older than 60 I find this song deeply moving. Having grown up in the sixties and seventies and after listening to a universe of music this song speaks more relevant than ever.
I agree. I love this song. It speaks to me. MY 1980s. Long drives to jobs. At night. Along motorways in fog, rain, and sleet. I often arrived at 2 am or so. The Road to Hell. The M1 at 2 am when you're falling asleep at the wheel.

My Dad drove truck for 15 years. When I was real small he played this album for me when I got to join him on one of his routes. To this day this album is one of my favorites and not just because it holds such fond memories of my father but because this album still has some of the most powerful imagery in music today. He deserves an Emmy and a place in the Rock and Roll hall of fame...if he doesn't already.
Like you, I have very fond memories of this song. I had my own business at the time and would work late on occasion. One late evening when this song was first introduced by our local station, I heard it and was completely blown away. The next day, I had to get it. Sometime over the years, I lost track of it and here I am 30 years later hearing it again. Hearing it again is such a refreshing surprise.

I never knew the name of the song but the moment the music started i realized, my dad used to listen it everyday. Miss my dad gone to soon. RIP Appa. Miss u everyday.

So many years I was looking for this Song and yesterday night I finally got the chance. It came in the radio and I took out Shazam in a blink of an eye. So now here I am and enjoying this song so hard it brings tears in my eyes ❤️
I was a young Dj in 80's and loved that song from the very first time I heard it. Today I am a little bit old man and still love that song. It's only song on my cell phone ringtone from the times when cell phones alow it as an mp3.
When there is a market the music business comes up with the goods, young people do not have a musical ear, so long as they can dance to it they will. Our generation over 30's have been lucky to have access to the very best, we will take our music to our graves which something today's youngsters will not, yesterdays stars (haha) will have been forgotten, so we are the lucky ones.
It was in 1989 when Chris had a concert in Helsinki, Finland. I've been to countless of concerts and gigs during my life. What really surprised me was how he really rocked! It actually sounded closer to heavy than rock, which blew me away. One of the best performances I have ever seen and heard. Thank you Chris Rea for this great experience you offered, take care during these challenging times.
This man's music is as good as it gets. I often think that few others can reach the dizzy heights of Chris Rea at his absolute best. This man's guitar playing, vocals and songwriting abilities are unsurpassed. Genius!.
You have touched on three important areas that make him an outstandingly creative human. The song itself is a legacy well worth introducing to a much younger generation, bathed in the quagmire of corruption and lies that has dragged all of us into the swill that neither Orwell or Huxley would have dared dream of
There's no way this song comes from this planet, no way!!! Lots of love to each and every one of you who listen to this masterpiece, wherever you are in the world , you must be special! ❤💛💙
of course we are, we have an ear for good musicianship, melody, guitar magic, what else do you want? Yes some decent talent to emerge in 2021 some hopes!

My father in law owned a top of the range hifi equipment shop in the 80's where Chris Rea launched this album the road to hell in rathmines in Dublin the night of the opening of he got photos taken with him that night but was very annoyed because the waitress that was handing out drinks kept getting in the photos 😅😅😅 he never stops going on about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 he said Chris was such a down to earth bloke plus my mother in law fell in love with him
As if it was yesterday, 24/7 was listening Chris Rea, couldn't get enough of him. Today, still the same emotions listening his songs are celebration. Thank you Chris, your songs and your voice are Immortal
Yes immortal is the THE word for this talented man. I discovered him in the 80's, never left him, special kind of music from his brain, one never knew what he would come up with next but you knew it would be special. God bless you Chris thank you for many years of great music.
Such a timeless piece of music....I am 46yr man and when I first heard this I must have been 11yrs and just never forgot the song...i find myself checking Yooubs and coming back to classics from Chris... ❤2ALL ✌🤜🏽
Goosebumps don't lie !! That intro though!! This one came out when I was 12. Criminally underrated master! I've been in the USA for 22 years and I've only met one person who's heard of Mr. Rea.
That is a huge shame. An absolute master of the understated vocal and slide guitar, with lyrics that send shivers up the spine. Chris Rea was hue fixture in my teenage years. This song brings back many memories. Opened m y own gigs with this and it was ALWAYS a hug success!
А на дворе уже 2021, а песня все ещё популярна среди любых возрастов! Пишем в коментах кто её слушает и в 2021!? If you're watching this in 2021, I love you and you're not alone !!
Funny how Chris Rea, hates his own voice and how it sounds, yet everyone else just loves his deep smooth voice. He nearly gave up on music when he first started back in the late 1970's he drove home one night while the snow fell heavy. When he got home 8 hours latter he had an envelope in his mail box it was also Christmas Eve, he opens the envelope and to his surprise was a huge 7 diget pay chech in his name, it was from a record company that he had doubts of. He shouted out loud, Oh Hallalujah!!! And went on to be one of the greatest singers the world to know 🇨🇦👍😇😇🤸🤸🤸

I love this song since I remember. I used to turn on this song from the beginning over and over again when it got very hot at home for the vacations and the refrigeration didn't work. The sounds of rain made me feel cool, even though the temperature didn't change. Fantastic masterpiece.
Lyrics: Stood still on a highway I saw a woman by the side of the road With a face that I knew like my own, reflected in my window Well, she walked up to my quarter light and she bent down real slow A fearful pressure paralysed me in my shadows She said: Son, what are you doing here? My fear for you has turned me in my grave I said: Mama, I come to the valley of the rich, myself to sell She said: Son, this is the road to hell ~ On your journey 'cross the wilderness from the desert to the well You have strayed upon the motorway to hell ~ Well, I'm standing by a river but the water doesn't flow It boils with every poison you can think of Then I'm underneath the streetlights, but the light of joy I know Scared beyond belief way down in the shadows And the perverted fear of violence chokes a smile on every face And common sense is ringing out the bells This ain't no technological breakdown, oh no, this is the road to hell ~ And all the roads jam up with credit and there's nothing you can do It's all just bits of paper flying away from you Look out world, take a good look what comes dawn here You must learn this lesson fast and learn it well This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway Oh no, this is the road, this is the road, this is the road to hell
This will be the third Chris Rea song in my dad's funeral mix as we prepare for his final day in this shitty world , it's so sad but he was in so much pain so now he'll be at peace , no matter the preparation it still doesn't make it any easier when they actually go ,,,, thanks for the orsm memories that music brings with it . If you reading this do me a favour and play this track as loud as you can would mean alot and maybe he be able to hear it . 🖤🤘🖤

@@jukkatuhkanen4359 The lives of many unfortunate people who have been dealt a very bad hand in life (including my own) could be best described as a 'living hell'. Such people are not only constantly denied the opportunity to be able to experience most of the things that should/would make life worth living, but in many cases (again including my own) it is or would be very difficult, if not impossible for them to be able to enjoy these things should any of them ever come their way. For such people life certainly isn't 'great', and the belief that this is their one and only life just compounds their already horrific pain, suffering, and misery.

He is the man
What is there not to love with this man ? Brilliant!
Stay safe!
This song is older than most of the singers in the charts these days. And still better than anything they can produce
You cannot have said it any better!!
I was a young Dj in 80's and loved that song from the very first time I heard it. Today I am a little bit old man and still love that song. It's only song on my cell phone ringtone from the times when cell phones alow it as an mp3.
This song we havent understand back then, but we loved it. Now we understand it, but its a pain.
Well we were so lucky, anything recorded from 60's to late 80's was MUSIC! Anything after was f....rubbish!

Genius!.
not quite, I agree he is brilliant, however there is another guy who in my opinion surpasses him, that would be MR Knoffler
You have touched on three important areas that make him an outstandingly creative human. The song itself is a legacy well worth introducing to a much younger generation, bathed in the quagmire of corruption and lies that has dragged all of us into the swill that neither Orwell or Huxley would have dared dream of
The problem is that in The eighties The whole song was never played! The masterpiece of intro wasnt heard!

And went on to be one of the greatest singers the world to know 🇨🇦👍😇😇🤸🤸🤸
He drove home for Christmas alright.

Lyrics:
Stood still on a highway I saw a woman by the side of the road
With a face that I knew like my own, reflected in my window
Well, she walked up to my quarter light and she bent down real slow
A fearful pressure paralysed me in my shadows
She said: Son, what are you doing here?
My fear for you has turned me in my grave
I said: Mama, I come to the valley of the rich, myself to sell
She said: Son, this is the road to hell
~
On your journey 'cross the wilderness from the desert to the well
You have strayed upon the motorway to hell
~
Well, I'm standing by a river but the water doesn't flow
It boils with every poison you can think of
Then I'm underneath the streetlights, but the light of joy I know
Scared beyond belief way down in the shadows
And the perverted fear of violence chokes a smile on every face
And common sense is ringing out the bells
This ain't no technological breakdown, oh no, this is the road to hell
~
And all the roads jam up with credit and there's nothing you can do
It's all just bits of paper flying away from you
Look out world, take a good look what comes dawn here
You must learn this lesson fast and learn it well
This ain't no upwardly mobile freeway
Oh no, this is the road, this is the road, this is the road to hell

@@jukkatuhkanen4359 The lives of many unfortunate people who have been dealt a very bad hand in life (including my own) could be best described as a 'living hell'. Such people are not only constantly denied the opportunity to be able to experience most of the things that should/would make life worth living, but in many cases (again including my own) it is or would be very difficult, if not impossible for them to be able to enjoy these things should any of them ever come their way.
